This is just me, but I still do think that sex should be more of a behind-closed-doors thing. Not because I have an issue with sex, but because too many people are showing an interest in extreme things like Fifty Shades of Grey. The women who are really into this are looking at pure hatred and humiliation, not BDSM. If someone has an interest in you, they don't force you to sign a contract that completely takes away your free will and allows them to beat you with chains if you don't hold your fork the way they want you to. <<<That's terrible and I wouldn't trust these people to be in public.

Well, allow me to put some input on this, considering I'm experienced in the topic:

Some people sign "contracts" that aren't legally binding, but are for play purposes. These contracts are meant to protect the submissive (sub) as well as the dominant (dom). Contracts are usually worked out between the sub and the dom, and won't be signed until both parties agree to the terms.

I've seen that most contracts include rules for the slave, and the dom. For example, a dom may NOT break the skin during play, or play must immediately stop. A dom may not leave marks that can be seen in public, and the relationship is to remain secret. (Although, heh, I do share a little.)

From what I've seen, this is NOT BDSM, but rather a man abusing the term so he can get his rocks off by abusing someone, which is NOT okay. AT ALL.

One thing you learn really quickly when looking up BDSM is that no one wants to play with an a*****e. Because BDSM, believe it or not, is NOT just about the dom. The sub is there to have fun too, and if they're not having fun, or don't consent to what the dom is doing, chances are the sub won't want to play anymore.

Like, totally, dude. xD Sometimes I wonder about James and how similar she is to Meyer....Oh. My. God. SHE'S THE BRITISH VERSION! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! /stops screaming

Well, I hope the two of you enjoy them.

@Lex: I'm not too wild about the sex stuff either. If there is gonna be any, it better be brief because I'm not reading 15 pages of dialogue about how the experience/moves/whatever is/are like. Bleh. *makes a face*

Agreed. It is very wrong. You see it all the time in movies (Lifetime movies are the perfect example of this BS) and in a few harlequin romance novels, but using a contract to force someone into sex? No, that's pretty much unheard of. This woman must have more of a sick fantasy than Meyer does--and that's say something! O_o

Well, as I said in an earlier post, there's a difference between using contracts to FORCE people into sex, and using a contract to ENHANCE the experience, and protect both parties involved.User Image

Back when I watched CSI every week I remeber how Grissom dealt with the dominatrix woman in more than a few episodes. She had a very philosophical look on things and it was actually a pretty good BDSM introduction. It's not my cup of tea, but joy to those who would choose to do it.

Team player contracts sound good. No one wants to go to the hospital after a bad session and explain how they obtained their injuries. People don't seem to realize that doctors can talk about patients, they just neglect age, name, and gender.

It just screams rape to me. But that's just me. Either way the contract goes, it just screams "RAPE". I'm sorry, but that's how I feel.

That's fine. I understand it's not everyone's cup of tea.

I just want you to understand it's actually a completely consensual thing.

Too true. Doctors aren't exactly secretive, but they do need to keep names secret.

Another good representation of BDSM (I thought) was Irene Adler from BBC's Sherlock season 2, episode 1, A Scandal in Belgravia. Despite the fact she had compromising information, she was a great dom.

Oh, HUZZAH!! I'm so glad to know that racism is alive and well in the heart of at least one British author. *facepalm* Jesus Christ, This book is terrible, and I'm preety sure I've only read enough blue writing to cover 1/4 of a microsoft page. Ana's a b***h. >:T

I think we'll have to start showing more positive dom/sub relationships on tv (vanilla or a little more flavored) just to let people know the SHoG is NOT OKAY.
