Welcome to Gaia! ::

As the title says, do any of you guys have some fantasy novel recommendations? I really enjoy the genre, but I haven't been reading much of it lately. And since I'm writing a fantasy novel, I thought it'd be best if I read a few. So, any good books/series to suggest? biggrin

And if it isn't too much trouble, I'd appreciate it if you left the author's name as well. Thanks!

Thanks for the suggestions, they look really interesting. Especially the Age of Fire series since I love dragons. Plus, I really need to get around to reading The Lord of the Rings series. sweatdrop

Thanks again! biggrin

I am not yet done.

I'd rec my favorite, the Malazan books by Steven Erikson and Ian Esslemont, but they're heavy reading and Erikson's books are thick as hell.

Mistborn by Brandon Sanderson. You might also try his standalones or the Stormlight Archive.

As recced above, Brent Weeks' Night Angel.

Also, Joe Abercrombie's First Law trilogy (and the standalones).

WITNESS.
"The Icemark Chronicles" by Stuart Hill are another great read.

Thanks for the recommendations! I'm not afraid of some heavy reading or thick books. It's kind of what I expect when I think fantasy, but I don't judge a book by that alone. =D

Thank you for the recommendation, it looks like a good read. ^^
I enjoy R.A Salvatore books, he writes a lot of the books based on the Dungeons & Dragons game. George R.R. Martin with his book Song of Ice and Fire. =)

You could try:
Jim Butcher's Dresden Files
TA Barron's Lost Years Of Merlin series
Tamora Pierce's Circle of Magic series (original 4, series sequel = 4 more, current Finale = 1)
I would defiantly recommend The Highwayman Series by R.A. Salvatore.

I could recommend some other more adult orientated but am not sure of your preference in that sort of thing. If this kind of thing interests you send me a pm and i will recommend some that you might like.

Also if you like Mythology, the Percy Jackson novels are actually not that bad. Its a retelling of Greek Mythology done in modern times to get younger kids interested but they are good.
The Sword of Truth Series by Terry Goodkind
First in the series is Wizards First Rule.
Thank you all for the suggestions! I think I've filled up my reading calendar. Thanks a bunch. biggrin
It's cheesy, but I love Forgotten Realms fantasy books. The Dragons of Autumn Twilight series by Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman is a longtime favorite c:

A Song of Ice & Fire by George RR Martin.
I'd recommend anything by Mercedes Lackey but specific series are The Five Hundred Kingdoms and The Obsidian Trilogy. The Pendragon series by D. J. MacHale. The Keys to the Kingdom series by Garth Nix. Then there's the Inheritance Cycle by Chris Paolini.
I recommend any book by Diana Wynne Jones.
