You're not a nerd, Marsh! You're like that with comics and american animation and I'm like that with manga and japanese animation! Neither of us are nerds wink

So, Twilight has no moral? No point? I never figured that out, but, apparently, my question has been answered. It's merely... Twue Wuvv... More like Lust. No, that wasn't even lust! I would expect to see hot, dramatic lusting with a lot of blood in a vampire book. I didn't see any of that. Her taken on Vampirism wasn't even that great.

And the happy ending pissed me off. NOTE: All of my friends who like Twilight love Disney and can't stand drama or sad endings.

Exactly! I understand..! Halelujah!

xD I should strip naked and run around town with my Eureka moment of realizing a few answers to my thoughts heart

...

Or not.
Haha, I totally came looking for a book thread solely to see if there was a 'Twilight = fail' one.

Having said that, and having read all four, I have come to the conclusion, that I will never be able to take anyone who finds the series to be a good source of reading seriously ever again.

Agreed, Jump (Gun?) (Hmm.. Hopper!). Could you elaborate on that in a mature (kinda, pwaswe?) way, though? We like to hear the reasons behind the opinions heart Well, I do, at least~

I guess. I want to go to a smaller university so I can get closer to my teachers and learn more, and, yet, I know that its nothing close to the literary college that is in... Illinois, I think. I'm trying to be careful that I go to a school where I'll actually learn something, since even my teachers now say I'm teaching things to myself that are on a college level. Damnit. I'm gonna have trouble finding a good school... crying

So... how are ya? We can keep on topic, but mind as well get to know everyone, right?

Oooh, new person. ^^ I'm Mako, the creator of this thread. I, myself, am a fellow nerd. I spend most of my time: reading books, mangas, comics, etc and playing video games. Back to something Twilight related! I'm on the school's newspaper and I'm planning to rip the New Moon movie to ******** SHREDS (pardon my French) when I do my movie review.

Oooh! Do put a copy of the article where we can see it (pretty please with a crapload of maraschino cherries on top?)!

On an unrelated not, I just returned from a hunt for more werewolf books (you know, those things ***** and his friends aren't?) and I was sickened by how much the Twishit series came up. Did you know there are actually two in-depth guides to understanding the twishit series?
^^ Of course!

Well, first off, the plot seems to be a fairly bland one. Although Stephanie Meyer takes a few artistic liberties with some ideas (sparkling, vegetarianism, etc) that are interesting to consider, the way she goes about them, is fairly... er, awkward and overall fanfic-ish. Her writing style is too unprofessional and is not a good example of a book that can be read smoothly and... enjoyably.

I will skip the second and third book for now, they are topics of their own.

Breaking Dawn right off the bat was confusing and overall drama-laden ad nauseum. The wedding drama/sequence drags on for too many chapters. Bella and Edward's dynamic is awkward and it seems (to me) that the two don't really have anything... connective other than 'homg love'.

The whole premise is, in my opinion, a fallen star. If Twilight had been written a little (okay a lot) differently both grammatically and prose-wise, then I would be more inclined to it. However, it's too vague in areas, too whiny in some, too detailed and pointlessly redundant most of the time. And I'm sitting wondering, 'Where is the core plot?'

I could discuss this for hours, but, I'll let this start the conversation : )

Will do, Nani! I hope I'll get it...And it will actually get printed. XD Because we are supposed to be 'unbiased' and 'un-callous' toward the film.

@Hopper: I completely agree! Maybe... Even if it was written better, I would not be that enclined to read it. After nearly destroying the book by throwing it against the wall in the library, I feel that, even with edits, any plot even similar to twilight will give me a bad taste in my mouth. Still, I will not be rude and will attempt reading all. Who knows? Maybe I'll fall in love!

@Animus: I can guess that. It TAKES two in-depth guides to understand it. Can you send me a link to one/a description of one? It would make it easier to debate about if I knew a bit more.

@Mako: Hello ^0^ I would do that, but, unfortunately, my newspaper club is full of flipping crap and you can't even choose what you want to write about . The second you do it in your own style is the second all the good parts get editted out. Plus, I dont' even know how to get the newspaper. No one gets it. It's a waste of paper. AND... I'm surrounded by Twi_Fvckin'_fans.

@EVERYONE: Anyone here think a lot of the parts had unnecesary detail that was repetetive?... Really repetetive?
@ Pumpkin Princess: Well, I normally don't read romance novels anyways, so I probably wouldn't have read them unless I had seen this hype. But, I would be able to respect the readers and the writer a whole lot more if it had been written better.

Haha, the whole Edward is hot thing on constant repeat in the books reminds me of Yu-Gi-Oh! The Abridged series when it's talking about Duke Devlin 'He's pretty, very pretty, see how pretty he is??? I wanna run my fingers through his hair..'

XDDDD

@Mako: Even if it isn't published, do share!

@Butter: Anything where Edward is concerned...actually...anything where one of Bella's leg-humping or pillow eating f***-buddies (all that's between them is lust, after all) is overly described. Because we all know that Meyer's lame self-insert has to have the PERFECT man...and she has to masturbate to her own writing, so she has to describe every lame pore of Edbob's skin.

As to the guides, I just came across them on Amazon, but here are the links:
The Twilight....oh God, I can't even finish the title. It's that lame...

I am SO happy that I'm not the only person in the world who prefers Dracula (original! Book and Bela Lugosi!) over Twilight. biggrin

I'm homeschooled, and homeschoolers will get my lack of stuff to do then, (living in the middle of the frickin' woods helps too) so I've got this project I call the Vampire Library, (no domain name yet, therefore no site) and my idea is to gather everything about vampires, EVERYTHING, and I've found some interesting stuff...

Vamp fun fact-

Folklore vampires were BLOATED and PURPLE from the blood drinking

I wouldn't be surprised if half of the thread used to be Twilighters, I was obsessed, then I found "The Reformed Vampire Support Group" and I tore up my Edward poster. xd

My mum still sort of likes Twilight, and when my parents decided to go to Florida, the following conversation occurred:

Mom- "Man, we're gonna miss the New Moon premiere"
Me- "Yup"
Mom- "I'm so bummed"
Me- "Too bad, so sad, I'm glad"

I saw TWO articles about Twilight in the same paper in one day. EEP eek

Ooh, do elaborate on the Vampire Library!

And yes, they were. The story goes that the idea of vampires rising from the grave came about because bodies weren't buried deep enough, so the corpses would be pushed to the surface as the dirt settled--making everyone think they were digging their way out. And we all know about how things of a squishy, carbon-based nature decompose--so the bloatedness comes from decomposition, and blood around the lips and in the mouth comes from the GI tract. (Sorry, I'm a nerd about these things...)

Twilight guides? There's not enough substance in Twilight to really create a guide on the book. And no offense to anyone, but anyone who needs a guide to get what's going on in Twilight may not be that smart. Here is all that Twilight is:

"BAAAW I'M NEW THERE'S TOO MUCH RAIN! EDWARD IS SO PRETTEH!"
"WE LOVE U BELLA!"
"STAY AWAY FRUM MEH AHM DANGERUSS!!!!!1111111!!!!!"
"AH CAN TAKE IT!"
"AHM A VAMPIRE!!!!! *DUN DUN DUUUNNNN*"
"AH LOVE U I WANNA B A VAMPIRE LES GET MARRIED!"
"UR BLOOD SMELLS SO GOOD!"
"UR SO PRETTY!"
"AH SPARKLE! *DUN DUN DUUUNNNN*"

Yeah, that's all it is...

Oh God...now I'm imaging Meyer-Bella and Edbob with the tard face all throughout the series...
Animus Inanis

Ummmm *tries to think of something* What did you think of Meyer's attempt to make Bella look smart?

Good question! Answer: laaaaaame. She's always seen carrying all these "classic" stories around, or referring to them by title, but never says or does anything to even suggest she made it past page one. Honestly, I think Bella has a comic book hidden in the pages of each and every book she owns.
