If you want to read it, I would suggest to look up the Twilight fanfic 'Masters of the Universe'. That way you won't have to waste the money to read it since it is almost word for word what was published in 50 Shades - save for the names and the whole vampire/human/shapeshifter thing in Twilight.
But I would suggest that you don't since it is poorly researched, poorly written, and uses terms for the smut that a fourteen year old would and not a grown woman should. Also the main guy int he book is one step away from being a sociopathic serial killer and the main girl is about as smart as your average ball of used tissue.
I read a good bit of the first book, and I can say that it's not very good at all. I really just wanted to see what the hype was about, and it was terrible. My friends who have read it told me everything that happened in all three books in the matter of 2-3 minutes. It really all is sex, sex, sex, oh and unrealistic sex scenarios.
Okay, so we have your "average plain Jane" (a har har just like Bella in Twilight) that gets noticed by super rich, mysterious man with problems (a har har just like Edward in Twilight) and thus the repetitive cycle of bullshit continues. He stalks her (a har har just like that relationship in TWILIGHT).
I dunno... it really just didn't seem like it should have gotten all the praise it has.
Edit: I mention Twilight a lot. Not because I like/love it, but because I'm comparing it to another shitty "novel series".
I've got to admit that, although the prospect of reading something so badly-written and so lewd
disgusts me, I sort of want to get a copy just to pick it apart and have a good laugh; however, I
don't really want to support the author for obvious reasons, so I guess I'm going to have to put up
with the librarian thinking I'm a pervert.
