Why is this such a big deal?

I'm not talking about the month itself, or the purpose of the month.
I'm talking about ...

Why are there so many arguments over it?
Why are people getting called racist over their views?

Stuff like that ...
I mean, what the hell?
If someone has an opinion, respect it - don't try to deepthroat your opinion on them. :l

If someone says something racist, I'm not going to keep my mouth shut. I'm not going to call the person a racist(unless it's pretty ******** obvious that they themselves know they are racist) because I don't believe that everyone who says racist things is a racist. They're often just misguided. Plus, calling someone a racist when they don't believe(or, at least, admit) they are one tends to detract from the discussion at hand. Instead of discussing the actual point, you're instead going down the road of "was that insult valid?," which never really ends well.


I call ignorance like I see it. I try not to resort to insults, but that's about it. I'm not going to go out of my way to be nice and respectful toward viewpoints that I find to be horribly misguided or ignorant.
