Jumping down into the sewer after Cameron and closing the man whole lid behind him. It was question after question from him and it made Alex laugh a bit. It was good to laugh, he hadn’t done that in a long time, it made him feel lighter some how. “Oh course there will be good food, I would never make anything bad” he replied. “ I’m one of the chiefs at the safe house so I’ll make you something great, better then just berries” he said as he lead them throw the sewer.

“ I’m Alexander but just call me Alex “ he replied. He didn’t mind the questions it was rather comforting to be around someone after getting separated from the others. “The Safe house is a great place, it well protected as well. You don’t have to worry about being attacked when your sleep” Alex said in a more cheerful voice. “We have a hospital, gym, beds, and a garden, you name it we have it; every thing we need to survive. We have doctors, cooks, gatherers, soldiers; it’s the safe place to be at the moment”. Alex stopped and looked up they were at the last man whole, they would need to exit through this one then walk or run the rest of the way to the safe house.

“ corn, potatoes, tomato’s, carrots, meat , stuff that will keep you healthy and strong, haha now I’m getting hungry” he said before climbing a latter and lifting the heavy lid and looked around, it looked clear. Pushing the lid away Alex climbed out and waited for Cameron to follow. “ its a short jog to the safe house “ he said and pointed in the direction they need to go.

He listened to Cameron talk about the troubles he had gone through and sadly smiled. “ A lot of people get that way, being so close to safety but never making it” he replied as he slowed down to walk. “ not much farther, just out side the city, we’ll be able to see the lights soon” he said as he too looked around. If the Zombies did find them they would both be goners.

Damien Kisho Levi

Damien sighed softly as he rested up against his favorite tree. He had his sword at his side, always alert if any danger were to come. At this point in his life he was alone and sometimes wondered if he would always be alone like this fighting by himself to stay alive. When this disease first started to spread it was the whole family together, they were all scared. And then his mother got it... His poor mother. His father of course didn't take it well and took all of his emotions out on Damien. There was one prominent event where he was forced to kill his father with his own hands. Damien was never the same after that.

Ever since then Damien has been on his own. Scouting places and trying to find someplace to settle down. He has met some other people along the way but he always ended up moving on his own way. Every afternoon he would come to this tree and sit.. always surrounded by his many thoughts. He had debated Many times to go into St. Louis but in the end always backed out. He wasn't sure whether or not he wanted to be put to work.

I mean if I Did go into there then I would probably be a doctor... or stick to gathering supplies like I do now- except it would be for a lot more people than just myself.

But he will decide that if the time should ever arise. Damien got up gracefully and stretched his tired limbs; groaning in satisfaction when he heard the familiar popping of his bones. There was much to do tonight, he had to find a place to sleep. He grunted softly and began on his way. His steps were silent as usual, not wanting to attract any attention from those horrid females. As Damien continued to look for a resting place he came across a city. It wasn't much and it was clear to him that it was infested with females.. if you could even call them that now.

Not wanting to get into any trouble he stayed on the outskirts of the city watching to see if there was any living souls. It only took five minutes for him to spot the one male desperately trying to escape from the zombies and the other male giving him the helping hand. Of course they were gone soon enough

"Figures" Damien muttered and turned on his heel going back into the forest to find wherever those two males would escape to.

Markus James Collins

I'm all business here, man...

Markus tossed and turned, trying to fall asleep, but failing. Was it the tea that was keeping him up? Usually it helped him fall asleep quicker. Maybe today just was not one of those days. He stopped and looked up at the ceiling, his eyes filled with anger. He bit his lip, drawing blood. He wiped it away from his cheek and closed his eyes. What was keeping him this way? Was it the anger in him? It was a possibility. He gripped the sheets as tightly as he could and turned so that he was on his side.

He opened his eyes and now stared at the floor. He felt guilt rise up in him, and he knew why. He had not gotten enough sleep again, and Oliver was worried about him...in his own way. He wanted to bang his head against the wall until it bled to get rid of the guilt. He closed his eyes and tried to force himself to sleep. Maybe if he got enough of it, he would be a bit more energetic and happier. He could almost cry at the fact, and a tear went down his face and onto the pillow.

So do not play around with me.

Aiden Ross Lancaster

Is this worth fighting for?
I am on my knees; I accept defeat.

Aiden shuffled around the medical facility trying to organize some documents. He sang quietly to himself as he did so. It's very pleasant to hear him sing, his voice is just velvet and beautiful. Organization is key in his life. If you were to look into his room, you would never find a spec of dust.

If Aiden is not doing his job as a nurse, he is either cleaning or sleeping. He is a simple guy and does not socialize well with others, though he is great with kids. Unfortunately, there are no kids here, it's depressing because Nathaniel did not make it either. The thought brought fresh tears to his eyes and he quickly swiped them away with the back of his hand. He missed his brother terribly, he died a horrible death.

He continued to sing again, his voice low. His voice seemed to float in the air and it was thick of sorrowful emotion, despite the hushed tone.

When he finished organizing his papers, he wiped the sweat from his brow and admired his work. "Spotless." he said with a soft smile. He rubbed his hands together and walked out of the room and into the hall on the way to the sleeping quarters.

He continued to walk through the sewer, "I am never eating berries ever gain," He stated as he trotted down the sewer. "I am so skinny, it's embarrassing, my pants barely even fit." He said with a deep sigh as he tightened the shoe string belt for the third time today. "I don't see how someone can become vegetarian, it's defiling." He said happily as he continued to ramble.

"Alex," He repeated the name, trying to burn it into his memory. The tunnels were a bit dark and his green eyes had trouble adjusting. He looked over to his new companion and smiled, "I like it." He said as he clasped his hands together. This was the first time, in a long time that he is able to completely relax. "It's a shame though," he said as he held his head low, his eyes became pained. "I have been living in fear for a whole month." he said as he looked to Alex, a look of torment adorning his features, "Suffering nightmares..." He continued as his body absently shuddered, "And waiting my impending death." he said as he stretched his arms in the air, hearing his joints crack. "Only to find out that I was only minutes away from a safe haven," he said with a sad smile gracing his face. A soft smile that met his eyes, "It's a bit unnerving." He said finally.

After a while, they finally made it out. Cameron climbed out of the sewer, but with great effort and began to job alongside of Alex, "How much farther?" he asked as he scanned the area. Light snow began to fall and his body shuddered in the cold. It's difficult to run in such extreme cold conditions simply because the oxygen is so thin. The cold burns. "I hope there are none of those walking dead around here," He said as he looked down every street they ran past.

He was relieved to hear that the job was not much longer.

Alex laughed a bit “so no blueberry pie then” he asked in a joking tone, seeing that Cameron had stated that he didn’t want any more berries. “I’ll make something that will put meat on your bones, something that will make you mouth water”. That was Alex specialty cooking, from the time he was young His father and him would cook together. Starting from simple things like cookies to gourmand meals, it was his art, a way to express him self with out words, also it made him feel useful to the safe house. Proved everyone with a good meal, to warm there hearts and lift their sprites.

Alex reached back and put a comforting hand on Cameron arm, “You don’t have to worry about that anymore” Alex replied trying to cheer Cameron up “ I was like that once until a group found me back in New Orleans and took me in”. Alex smiled some more, he believe that everyone should keep on smiling no matter how bad things got, that was something his mother had told him once. “The nightmares won’t go away but now you’re not alone, you don’t have to face them alone”. It was true no one was alone in the Safe house, they all worked together.

Once out of the sewer Alex began to jog with Cameron by his side. His eyes always went from left to center to right and back again, keeping an eye out for the Zombies. “Not much farther now” he replied as he slowed down to a walk. “Just over there beyond the trees is the safe house “he said just as his eyes spotted something moving in the trees. Alex couldn’t be sure what it was, a Zombie perhaps, but his gut told him other wise, it hadn’t moved like the Zombies, maybe it was another survivor. “If we see any more Zombies just keep running, to the Safe house no matter what” was all Alex said as he went back to looking from left to right.

With a nod, he replied to Alex, "Running is what I do best," He said with a smile. All this information was a lot to take in. He would get a warm meal. Meat!~ Oh how Cameron loves meat. He had dreams of biting into a juicy chicken legs and popping his fingers in his mouth after he was done to get the last taste.

"Is that it?" He asked looking at a fortress with steel gates. Of course it was, because the gate began to open as they drew near. he spotted duo soldiers with M-16's in their hands and they stood on either side of the gate, forming a perimeter. The soldiers crouched down and aimed their guns, searching the area for hostile threats. Cameron turned to Alex and shrugged as they both ran inside the safe house.

The gates were shut tightly and locked by the soldiers and they returned back to their posts. A gasp escaped Cameron's lips as he ran his fingers through his hair. The place was amazing, and huge! Also, it did not seem like a prison, as Cameron had imagined, it was beautiful. "Wow." he breathed as he turned a bit to get more of the view. He looked to Alex, "This is amazing." he said with a bright smile as he took a few steps forward and examined all the men walking around in the safe haven. It was just simply amazing, finally he would get the social life that he has longed for.

(I am probably going to bed soon. Just a heads up)

Leon sighed as he began to walk again in the surveillance area, waiting for his turn to end. Normally, his turns to check over the entrance were short, and he would wait until midnight to take other turn. But this time there were gatherers outside, so he had to stay longer to see if anyone had already return. It wasn't that bad, but in the middle of the winter, and that he had the worst headache he had ever had it made him a bit mad and angry. He just wanted for his damn turn to end so he could go and take some pills, go and eat something and sleep. It was almost the same routine everyday. There weren't so many trained soldiers, so he being one at the past made him want to protect everyone more. But a the same time it could get annoying, for example, with the tiny sound he woke up, and it took a lot of time to sleep again for him.

Finally, it seemed that the other already arrived, and he let out a sigh. As soon as the other soldier took his place he stormed outside, breathing the cold wind as he walked towards the medical facilities. He sometimes liked to stay long hours there. It was warm enough for winter, and almost no one bothered him. He smiled a bit when he walked inside the medical facility. Now he could go and get his pills.

Damien Kisho Levi

Damien groaned at his stupidity when he realized one of the males spotted him. He promised himself he would get better at hiding from others. But he had to give the male credit, it was rare when someone spotted him when he was stalking someone. Damien couldn't help but watch in awe as he saw them walk up to the gates and head inside- he has never been this close to the gates and what was beyond it looked spectacular. A big part of him told him to head inside after them and see if they could give him a tour. With his hearing, he overheard the male who saw him talking about not being alone.. This made his heart jump at the thought..

Never being alone anymore.. No more fighting to live

The thought was so appealing yet he couldn't force his limbs to move the way he wished them too. A sigh escaped him as he walked around the gate and sat at the edge of the forest a few meters away from the guards. Of course he knew that the cameras probably saw him but at the moment he could care less about that. They saw he wasn't infected, nor a female, then they would- hopefully- leave him alone to his rest. For now he would sleep with his sword stuck in the middle of his hands and wait for morning to see if one of the males would come back out so he could maybe strike up a conversation with. Maybe he could get inside and start a new life.
With those thoughts in Damien's head, he drifted off into a light sleep.

Oliver managed to complete most of his paperwork before deciding that he’d had enough of the hospital walls for the time being. There were other doctors around right now who could take care of any problems that cropped up, and he wanted to move around. Pushing himself away from his desk, he got to his feet. Grabbing his coat, he slung it over his shoulders and exited the room. He could swing by the library for a quick spell later on, possibly get himself some new (or not so new) reading material. Yes, that sounded like a pretty good idea to him. He was getting tired of reading up on Napolean anyways. Perhaps a nice mystery would do him some god. Or, just for the heck of it, a book on zombies. He grinned to himself. Yeah, why not? If he was going to sit in a room all day, he was going to be entertained while doing it! He’d grab a few books and head back to his desk once he had them. That way he could stay entertained and no one would complain that he wasn’t doing his job at the same time.

The library was just as he remembered it, nice and quiet. He was glad that books had been deemed something necessary, as he didn’t think he would have been able to last long without them. It was a shame there weren’t more, but at least they had what they had. Heading over to the back, he grabbed a few good novels, some of which he’d read more than once before and tucked them under his arm. Humming cheerfully to himself, he wandered back to the front and left the room. Pausing just outside the library, he sighed, leaning against the wall and closing his eyes. What a day… and it wasn’t even half over for him yet. Shaking his head, he resumed his walk back to his station, taking up his seat once more. Dropping the books to the side of his chair in a neat pile, he swung his feet up onto the desk, mindful of the papers there, and picked up the one on the top of the pile. Hm… a murder mystery. Sounded pretty good right about now. Opening the cover, he settled back for a quiet read.

Alex smiled as Cameron took everything in; the place was pretty big and amazing too. Alex waved to some of the soldiers, as he did this he spotted Leon walking towards the medical rooms, that told him two things. (A) Him and Cameron were the last to get back, and (B) Leon was in a bad mood. “ Come on First we need to go to the medical rooms, and have one of the doctors there give you a check up, and well their doing that I can cook you up something “ he said before leading the way to the Medical office. Alex had to give the first aid kit he found to one of the many doctors there anyways, and the ammo had to be put away, and lastly the cans of vegetables had to go to the kitchen.Alex wanted to get to the kitchen as soon as possible, he was craving to make something plus he had the feeling that everyone was hungry, after all not many of them could cook.
A thought came to him, what happen to the person he say outside. The one in the forest, Alex made a mental note to look into it once he had finish showing Cameron around. If the male wasn’t infected he could come into the Safe house, it was better then being out there.

Sebastian Williams

A huge giggle escaped Sebastian as he nearly Skipped down the hallways, enjoying this fine morning. Last night was the usual nightmares he had but nevertheless he would always put on a smile and wave to everyone. Everyday, he tried to make it new and exciting. Sometimes he succeed and other times he failed miserably. The thoughts he had were all over the place, looking at every male up and down to see which one to make his own. He has been in St. Louis for a few years now so he was acquainted with mostly everyone- save the new comers that came. But even the newcomers he gave his typical "Welcome Home" gift. Needless to say when someone new arrives Sebastian gets hit on the head or smacked in the face.

But at this moment Sebastian was looking for one particular male to bother. Aiden was the person he scouted and was determined to cuddle with him today. Granted this was his everyday task and not once has Aiden taken him up on his offer. Aiden was a nurse, and Sebastian has always had a fascination with him. Don't ask him why though, not even he knew the answer- but he was pretty sure it had something to do with those striking blue eyes he had.

A mischievous smile graced his slim lips has he spotted Aiden walking toward the sleeping quarters. He quickened his pace and once he was right behind him, Sebastien wrapped his arms around the more slender waist that was Aiden

"Why hello my dear Aiden"
Sebastien whispered in the other males ear.

╚══════════════╝

It had been a long time since Jack had been to the city. Years. It had been before he had started high school, in one of those years in which his father had chanced upon a new vein of lead in the old mineshaft and had some money to spare. He had blown all of it in less than a month, as it so often goes with the poor, but in that month they had lived like kings, or so it felt, and had taken weekly trips to the city to buy thoroughly expensive food. A small hint of a smile spread across Jack's lips at the memory, but faded almost instantly as he regarded the vast expanse of towering gray buildings and concrete. It was a wasteland, now.

He had not been aware that the she-beasts were plaguing anywhere but his home, and as he gazed out over the desolate scene he found himself wondering just how far the damage had gone. He had rarely been to St Louis, let alone outside of Illinois, so his thoughts did not even elevate to a global scale. As he took one last long look at the city before beginning his descent down the hill, he pursed his lips thoughtfully. "Well, less traffic now," he shrugged, in his morbidly optimistic way.

Jack walked slowly and carefully down the hillside, turning his head at every little movement, even though he recognised each creature that made it. A large firefighters axe was clutched in his hands. It was a fond thing -- he had used it to smash in the head of the zombie that had gotten a hold of his father -- and now he clutched it tighter for greater security. He must have looked an odd sight, stalking silently through the trees: a tall, muscled young man with a farmer's tan, clothed in torn miner's pants, a frayed army cap, and a holey tank top, wielding a blood-stained axe, a small pack slung over one shoulder and a shotgun over the other. The gun, however, was a bit useless at the moment, as he had run out of shells and the means to craft more. That was the main reason he was here: ammunition. Perhaps to see if there were other survivors, as well, but that was less important. He was lonely, sure, but he didn't see the harm in that.

A large sign caught his eye as he made his way onto the main highway. It took a few moments, but he was eventually able to string the characters together to make out the message, "WELCOME TO ST LOUIS." All around him cars lay abandoned, some totaled, some slightly smoldering. He had never driven a car before, and he lay a hand on the cold metal rather wistfully. His father once said he would teach him how to drive. It had never happened.

Exhaling loudly, Jack then did something rather stupid. He knew it was a bad idea, but it was the easiest way to find others, or attract a horde of zombies. Raising his hands to cup his mouth, he shouted as loud as he could possibly muster. His voice echoed around the freeway and throughout the nearby woods, and he tightened his grip on the axe as he waited.

╔════▄▀▄▀▄▄▀▄▀▄═══════════════════╗

Wake up.

Ren grumbled as she shifted, then rolled over in his sleep. His eyelids fluttered for a moment before shuttering again.

Wake up.

Wake up already.

WAKE UP!

“Wha—?!” Ren shot up confusedly, still half-asleep and groping for a heavy, blunt object. By the time he grabbed a nearby crowbar, he was awake enough to realize what had happened. Setting down the crowbar gently, Ren sighed resignedly as he scratched the itch on the base of his neck. “Really, Kaleb? Too early…”

As Ren looked around, eyes still heavy and half-lidded, he slowly recalled where he was. Ah, yes, the weapons room. Ren’s eyes slowly rested on a motorbike. It wasn't anything special. Beat up thing that it was, it was stripped of anything that Ren had considered unnecessary weight. Built for speed and little else. Trailing his fingers along it, Ren felt a soft smile grow on his otherwise numb face. It’d be noisy, but it would be fast. People might never need it, but if they did, the bike would be here. Ready as a weapon as much as anything else in the room.

A sense of disapproving entered his mind. Ren didn’t need words to know what the feeling was trying to say.

“Yeah, yeah,” he muttered with another sigh, then a grunt as he got up and stretched his cramped, stiff limbs. “I know it ain’t safe to sleep in a room full of guns, but it’s the only place that won’t go up in smokes if I accidently start a fire.”

A granola bar had been left lying by him while he was sleeping. Grinning, Ren scooped it up and proceeded to eat it. He wasn’t sure who left it there, but he would definitely thank them. Though chances were that it had been dropped, not given.

Another sense filled his mind, a sense of reminder that left Ren frowning, his brows furrowed. Strange eyes that were a shade of light purple narrowed slightly disapprovingly as it stared into thin air, Ren continued eating the bar.

“You’re just trying to get out again,” he continued muttering lightheartedly, as if talking to someone. Except that no one was there, and there was a sense that the brown haired male was trying to be quiet with his words. “And when are you so talkative? Go back to sleep, Kaleb.”

Ren using the name out loud always meant the final word, and the sense and feeling disappeared from his mind. Exhaling slowly to calm himself and relax, Ren seem to think about the message he got from his other self.

“But…can’t be that bad, can it?”

Gathering some materials, Ren set out. He wasn’t a gatherer, and he wasn’t a soldier. But he was a specialist at what he did. And there are just some parts he needed that took a specialist to get. Parts from a car for example, or parts of a system (ex. Ventilation, water, etc.). Much safer for someone who knew exactly what was needed, exactly where to find it, and exactly how to get it to go get it. Besides, having to always be busy, Ren had some parts he needed for more personal projects like the bike. And he be damned if one of the gatherers died for his own selfishness.

It had nothing to do with Kaleb, who was able to surface more often when they had to face off with zombies. Or that Ren just really wanted to get out.

It was almost routine nowadays. When Ren didn’t have some big project and when nothing particularly big was happening, Ren would appear at the gate, greeting the guards, and walk while going over the perimeter and gates to check for signs of rust or weak spots. Anything that could become a hazard, which he would notify the soldiers and make a note to himself to repair. Then, he would leave, waving goodbye to those he did and didn’t know.

And then the mechanical scavenging would begin. The city, however dangerous, was Ren’s playground. Cars left abandoned, buildings with doors hanging wide open, and the only real (BIG) obstacle being zombies. This gave Ren the chance to get his hands on things he would have never had been able to afford when life was still good. Houses were still an unsafe zone, so Ren stuck to raiding garages mostly. Today’s haul consisted of circuit boards, some new tools in relatively good condition, batteries, smaller engine parts, parts to patch up the water pipes, and a variety of wires, as well as exactly 3 near run-in with the she-beasts. Ren could feel Kaleb surging forth at these times. The struggle was always the one with Kaleb, not as much with the infected, and Ren swore this struggle would be what killed him—them—one day. Kaleb snorted in his mind and a sense of disbelief filled Ren's mind. No matter what, it was Ren was the one that held the fear of the undead that made his hand tremble and his stomach turn. He could feel Kaleb scoff at his weakness, at how Ren could keep his head but not stop his body's reactions. Nor the memory of his sister trying to devour him. Everytime Ren scuttled away to avoid one or a group, it was always that one memory that haunted him the most often and most stubbornly.

After a couple hours of scavenging, he took the freeway to get back. Risky and cold though it was, the freeway was where all the grab and go stuff was. While on the freeway—admiring some particularly nice models, collecting pieces of mirror here and there (removing whole pieces with a small screwdriver), and debating whether or not to take on a second bike (he really like the black one just lying there on the freeway, though it was pretty messed up)—he started at a loud shout that echoed across the freeway. Hurriedly displacing the loosening glass that had served as the front window of a car (the back had been entirely destroyed), he glanced over his shoulder as he lugged the large plate of glass up. One of the windows had been broken and needed to be replaced, but Ren would drop the glass if the ghouls came in favor of running.

Fortunately, the ghouls he could spot at the end of the freeway didn’t seem to have caught the sound. Sighing in relief, Ren hurried towards the shout. Perhaps someone had attacked? His worry grew as he traveled closer to the safe house. Had something attacked the safe house? Were there newcomers being chased? Ren was relieved while Kaleb was mildly annoyed to find a tall, muscled guy—perhaps a year younger than himself—standing in the open with an axe.

With his usual lack of self-preservation (one that was more often than not trampled by curiosity), led him to shifting the large pane of glass in a more comfortable position before approaching the other. Albeit with enough sense to do so catiously.

“Hey,” Ren greeted cheerfully with a smile, though his strange, purple gaze studied the other with honest curiosity. Deep within that gaze, there seemed to be another, more calculative, suspicious stare. “You waiting for something?”
