Sage watched the humans closely, noting the differences between them. He did however look a bit curious when Aeolus mentioned Brooklyn. He had never heard of this place before, and made a note to ask about it. It occurred to him that if they were from the other world, that maps might just be helpful. He spotted the look of unease on Aeolus' face when he asked his question, and before anything could be said, he interrupted. "I appear to have touched on a sensitive subject, so I'll just ask you this. Is there an Anklar in your world, and did it have something to do with you being here?"

»Once Aeolus sat down on her own chair, she made a rather bitter comment about how he had introduced himself. "Shut up!" he shouted in defense. Even though it really wasn't at all defensive.

Roland felt his chair rise though the air, and he found himself clinging onto the handlebars to ensure that he didn't fall over, or something. He didn't want to make another face plant on the ground and shatter his face.

Sage asked how they had gotten there. Roland wasn't exactly sure himself, and he was trying to come up with some sort of answer that wouldn't get himself stabbed in the face later on, either by a dragon or by Aeolus. However, the dragon changed his question, and Roland realized that he could indeed answer this question.

"Yeah, we do have an Anklar." Roland furrowed his brow. He wasn't sure if he should be saying this or not, "I travel around the country with it and my dad. We take it from museum to museum and tell people about it and all that jazz." he didn't know why he finished his sentence with that, but the only one in the room that seemed to care about his speech patterns and accent was Aeolus.

"Jazz? What is that?" he asked, looking curious. He understood that he traveled and displayed the Anklar from their world, but his speech patterns and words he had never heard of were odd.

The other thing he didn't understand was why they were arguing with each other. Did it have to do with the circumstances surrounding their arrival, or did they just not like each other that much?

Roland seemed defensive over her comment on Brooklyn, but something seemed different. Aeolus noted a great deal less hostility in his voice, something more like playful banter. That somehow eased Aeolus's concerns a bit, knowing that somehow or other, they weren't on a bad terms as before.

Sage quickly changed his topic upon Aeolus's reaction. He sure was observant, she hadn't meant to give off that much of an impression. His new question was a much simpler one. She felt herself relax a bit, knowing very well how to answer that one. Roland beat her to it, obviously relaxing since his cover accent slipped away. Aeolus nodded slowly, curls bouncing, to his answer. That was pretty much the case. She was about to add her own information about the Anklar and their story when Sage asked the weirdest question she could think of.

He didn't know what Jazz was? She gaped, shocked. Of course, it made sense for Dragons to not know of it, but it was Jazz. A music that was so universal she couldn't imagine someone not knowing it. After several seconds of staring, she glanced at Roland, hoping he understood her surprise, and attempted to respond. "Jazz is.. um.." She put her finger to her lips, pensive. "Jazz is a type of music. It's got like.. riffs and.. trumpets and.." She gave up, shrugging at looking again at Roland, hoping he could continue.

»Roland blinked. The dragons didn't know what jazz was. Well, that was reasonable, considering that their culture was clearly different than their own.

Aeolus tried to give an explanation of what jazz was. Roland furrowed his brow, and tried to hold back a snicker. "Okay, Jazz is a form of music, which I'm very sure you have. You see, Jazz is a very free-formed music with a specific style mostly consisting of pianos, saxiphones and a few other instruments."

Roland made a roll of his hands, "Really, it was derived from the blues, but the blues kinda started a lot of the music we have, in a sense." he shrugged, not sure if he was making any sense. "Uh, yeah. It's music."

Brown eyes scanning the area, he couldn't help but say, "Uh, yeah. Any questions, or are we gonna move along?" he could feel a terrible awkwardness.

Sage was still a bit confused, but some of what Roland said made sense. He understood music, and free form music, but some of the instruments were unknown to him. He didn't even want to ask what Blues was at this point, they were too far off topic as it was.

"Well, back to the matter at hand, how you got here. I would like to know what you were doing when you were brought here. Any magic? Spells? Were you handling it? Things like that. If you could tell us how this happened, we might be able to make sense of it. What do you think Melusine?"

»Roland gave the dragon a look, "What? Magic? Spells?" he scoffed, "Yeah right." he shook his head, his black locks waving about his forehead. He needed a haircut... But now wasn't really the time to think about that.

However, Roland returned to the subject, "Well, we were both holding the Anklar... But I was trying to get it away from her." he shrugged, "It's museum property, and I really didn't want anyone to get in trouble with the Anklar."

Roland bit his lower lip and leaned way back in the chair like any other guy would, "Well, as we were fighting over the thing, there was a bright flash of light, a whole bunch of colors... And then, pow. I was face first on your floor." he looked to Melusine with a smile, "Sorry if I left an imprint, or something."

((Oh my god I'm sorry I didn't post yesterday. School got me all tired and uninspired. Still am, but I wouldn't want to kill the roleplay. So yeah, this sucks.))

Roland laughed at Aeolus's meager attempts to explain Jazz, causing her to glare at him. She continued to glare at him as he explained it fluently to Sage, in a way that seemed to make him understand. She scoffed a bit, turning her head upwards and glancing sideways at him. She sighed, whatever. It was expected that Roland would be more eloquent than her, as he did present the Anklar as a job. This helped her settle down a bit.

Sage then returned to the topic at hand: How in the world Aeolus and Roland had gotten to this strange underwater castle where there were dragons. He described Magic and Spells, asking them if they had cast any. Aeolus's eyes widened, sparkling. She knew it! The Anklar was magic. Roland disagreed, of course. She glared again and put her hands on the arms of her chair, leaning out to look across at him. "You're just disillusioned. You're a poor, jaded boy." With that said, she huffed and sat back in her chair.

At least, until he once again spoke of taking it back from her. "I wasn't trying to steal it or anything." She cried, defending herself. "I was just examining it closer.. I felt like I didn't have a choice." Her voice grew quieter as she added the last part. She nodded slowly as he explained the rest of the story. The same thing had happened to her. "I landed on top of him though. It certainly was a strange sensation."

Nature has a will all it's own...

The Crimson and Black dragon looked at the two humans with a strange expression. They were standing in a castle, underwater, on an alien world, and they were still at each others throats. It was worse than dealing with angry unruly hatchlings, at least you knew what to look out for with the hatchlings.

He suppressed a sigh, wishing he had some of his more obscure Anklar tomes to reference. Nothing had ever been reported like this, but he was curious if anyone knew of a way to activate the ancient stone.

"So you were both in physical contact with your Anklar but I'm assuming most of your world does not believe in magic. Hmmm." Sage confirmed briefly. He looked thoughtful for a few minutes and shook his head, as if dismissing a stray thought.

Melusine, the only thing I can think of is that one of them has some characteristic that may have triggered the portal. Without my library, I won't be finding much more through questions. I might be able to find more with a few simple tests. Beyond that, I wouldn't know where to begin. Do you have any ideas?"

Melusine listend in quietly to the conversation. She couldn't help but chortle at the arguments held between Roland and Aeolus. It was almost as if they were related, they bickered so. In a way, it reminded of the way she and her brother had acted when they were young...

Sage adressed Melusine upon the matter of the Anklar, and the possiblility of one, or both, of them holding the ability to weild magic... But, Melusine shook her head, "No. Think of it," she said in an aged way, "After the dragons left the human world, it is possible they lost their faith in us. I mean, considering how they reacted to us and all. It almost seemed as though they didn't know what we were at first.

"If they lost their interest in dragons, the humans probably lost interest in wielding our magic, like we tried to teach them--I'm sure you read up on that--and with no teachers, they lost the study, along with interest." with a shake of her fined head, Melusine lead them to the Anklar, "Do you see how the electricity flows?" she asked all three, "It is as if the Anklar is alive. It could have taken you two here. It could have chosen to transport you here."

Melusine paused for a moment, the realization dawning on her, "So, we aren't the only ones who have an Anklar... It appears that there are two!" she said almost pensively, "One in the human world, and one in the dragon world...!" she was sure that Sage had already taken this into play, but she felt it had to be said.

"So, this means that there is much more to the Anklar than we thought."

I am the protector of the Anklar. Dare you try my power?

It seemed neither dragons really understood the anklar either. It seemed they knew much more than Aeolus and Roland, but didn't know how they had gotten there. Or for that matter, how they would get back. Sage mentioned their world not believing in magic. That was an understatement. "It's not that most of our world doesn't believe in magic, it's rather that people who do believe in magic are labeled as crazy." She added, sitting back in her chair and folding her legs into a cross.

Melusine then shook her head and began to explain something to Sage. Something about... Dragons leaving the human world? She sat up a bit, tilting her head slightly. She gasped slightly, trying to keep quiet. Quieter, at least. Dragons had lived in the human world. They had tried to teach them magic. Obviously something happened that caused the dragon's to leave. But just the thought - if thing had been different, Aeolus could have been performing magic. The thought awed her so that she was completely out of it until she felt the sudden movement of her platform... thingy.

Melusine took them to the Anklar, and spoke of the electricity. Aeolus felt her stomach jump a bit, and she cast a quick glance at Roland. She wondered, could he see the electricity now? Would being in the world that the Anklar had taken them to have done something? She secretly hoped so, as she felt kind of bad for Roland, being so jaded he couldn't see it.

Sage thought about it, but from what he knew of magic, it didn't die off. It might go dormant, but it was so ingrained with life it could never truly die. "I think humans may have lost faith in more than just us over time. If they can still see the energies within, then there is at least some belief left somewhere. I'm more concerned with what might happen if someone managed to use the stone to form a more permanent portal..."

»Roland's chair followed after Melusine, and he held onto the edges, slightly caught off guard since he was leaning so far back on it. He knew it was stupid to do, but he did anyway.

The Sea-Serpent pointed out the electricity inside of the Anklar. Again with the electricity! However, Roland stared at the stone, a glimmer of hope in his eyes, as he hoped to see at least something within the Anklar...

Nothing. He just saw the same, plain yellow stone that he saw every other time he looked at it. With a massive frown, Roland looked away bitterly. He was so bitter about it that he really didn't listen in to what Melusine had to say... He could care less...

But Roland's ears did pick up what Sage stated. He let out a grunt, "The only ones who could probably make a permanent portal is a dragon. No human could do that." half sarcasm, half truth. Aeolus would probably yell at him, but he didn't really care.

Aeolus felt herself tense, anxious to see Roland's reaction. She hoped he could see it. If he did, she would expect something like shock or revelation in his eyes. They would widen as he stared at the orb pulsing with lights and he would shake his head in disbelief. He would know that the electricity existed and he would be happy. And he would believe. He'd also have to apologize to Aeolus, but she didn't care so much about that part. For some reason, she felt sympathy towards this strange boy she had just met that day.

She observed him closely, watching as slight hope filled his eyes. Yet, not a second later he was frowning with frustration and turning away. Aeolus let her shoulders fall and her heart sink. She felt unbelievably real disappointment, much like him. She watched as he grunted something logical yet obnoxious to Sage. Normally, she would've found something in this to yell at him about, but she felt no desire to do so. "Roland..." She spoke softly, reaching her arm out slightly, but settling it on the arm of her magically-floating chair.

She just didn't understand why he wouldn't be able to see the lights that were so clear to her, and apparently, the dragons.

»Roland sighed. He merely stared at the Anklar, his brown eyes intent, and rather harsh. For years he was taunted by children, yelled at by childish adults... And yet he never saw anything in the Anklar except for it's odd lighting...

"So. Yeah. Portals and all like that. As for the whole 'beleif' thing, it's mostly only children who can see it... Along with Aeolus... But I'm guessing that there are a few people that are... Young at heart..." he trailed off. Roland had always thought that he was still somewhat young at heart... But he obviously wasn't. Now it was even more apparent to him that he was just about as young at heart as his father...
