Nature has a will all it's own...

Sage looked at the Anklar, and let his senses open a bit more than usual. The magic was something he was familiar with, but it's origins were a mystery. It was older than any of the dragons, and it's beginnings were as shrouded in mystery as that of magic.

"It's portal magic, but not a type I know, it's older than any of us, and I do mean any of us. he said. He sniffed a bit again, and looked at the book case next to him. He sniffed again and looked at Melusine. "Well the search will be brief at least." he commented pointing his face toward the book case and backing up a step.

His curiosity got the better of him and he lowered his head until it was level with the bottom shelf. He spotted something hiding where a small tome might have sat, and he cocked his head sideways to get a closer look.

"My my, what do we have hiding in little nook?" he purred.

((Are they speaking english? I assumed so))

Aeolus was gripping her knees hard, digging her un-cut nails into her own knees. She couldn't even feel the sharp pain, she was too numb. Despite her current situation, she could only think of how the carvings she had made would kill the next day. She attempted to force herself to think more about the situation, but it crossed her mind that she would only worsen her fear if she did. Her body was shaking out of her control, and even though her had was buried between her knees, her eyes were wide open, staring into darkness.

Her breath (which was already very short) caught in her throat as she heard something come into the castle. Two somethings. She heard voices speaking, that of a male and a female, but she had no idea what they were saying, her blood rushing in her ears. Her mind flashed briefly to Roland. Then a small portion of her thoughts were consumed with wondering why in the world she was worried about that boy. All thoughts like this were soon erased, as she had heard a heavy footstep near her. She looked up very slowly, cautiously, and found she was staring at a massive, scaled foot. It was soon replaced by a face, long and drawn, massive, and inhuman.

Her eyes widened immensely. A scream rose in her throat, but she found she was unable to speak. She found that tears were forming in the corner of her eyes, she was so scared she wanted to cry. That had never happened before. But then again, she had ever been face to face with a dragon before.

»Throwing fear aside, Roland suddenly leapt out of his hiding place. Instead of finding himself in front of some sort of... Lion, or squid, or whatever... He saw a large, black, scaly beast... With wings. His brown eyes widned so much that they nearly popped out of his skull.

However, he let out a shout, his Brooklyn accent still within his voice, "L-leave---LEAVE HER ALONE!" and just saying that took all of the strength that was within Roland's body. His legs quaked, and he fell to his knees, but he attempted to keep himself up.

It was almost as if a wave of chivalry took over Roland. He would probably never manage to muster up such courage as to... Stand up to a... Monster.

((Yeah. ))

Aeolus felt her heart lurch out of terror and into something she truly couldn't place. She unfolded slightly from her tight position to poke her head out and stare in shock at the boy. "R.. Roland!?" She cried, her eyes disbelieving. This guy, who had probably wanted to throw her off a cliff only ten minutes ago, was leaping in front of a beast to protect her. It was then that she recovered and realized she had pushed herself closer to the terrifying dragon. He was black with shining scales. She felt, all of a sudden, that the only thing that was really scary about the creature was his massive size. Well, that, and a whole lot of sharp looking teeth.

Roland was now barely standing. She felt the fear, though less so, again. These were dragons, threatening creatures of myth. She couldn't just forget about that because they had pretty scales (although she had to admit they were very pretty). Maybe it was his valiant effort though he was just as terrified as her, but for some reason he inspired a bit of courage in her too. 'After all, it's not courage if you're not scared.' Then suddenly, she began to shout. "Don't be stupid, if they ate me then you could've gotten away! Macho pig!" She now had her shoulders and up poking out from her hiding spot in the shelf. Despite appearing angry, she felt a slight burden lift off of her shoulders. Although she was still right next to a beast who would most likely eat her.

Sage was surprised by the appearance of the other intruder. He could tell both of them were absolutely terrified of him, and it only made sense, he was a predator after all. He looked closely at the one that had shouted at him, his snout almost touching him and it dawned on him he had seen something like them in his tomes. He moved back to give them some space, and looked at Melusine. "By the spirits they're humans!" he said, his voice disbelieving.

He turned back to them when Aeolus spoke, then chastised Roland. The look on her face was more than the dragon could stand, he burst out laughing, the deep rumbling sound filling the hall. "Hahaha! Eat you? You wouldn't make much of a meal little one." he chuckled. He sat down on the floor and looked Roland over again.

"Portal magic..."Melusine echoed. She was watching the male intruder whilst Sage examined the Anklar. Once he came over to examine the female, the male suddenly jumped out, but could hardly hold his stance. "A tad bit of chivalry in you, eh? I'll let you know, that most certainly isn't dead here."

Melusine nodded, "Yes, they are human. I was about to say that, but you beat me to it." a smile spread across her lips to show her forgiveness, and her delight to meet a true human instead of a shape shifter that tried to be one.

Melusine made her way around the male and Sage, and fell into eye contact with the girl, "My my... We dragons haven't seen them since we left their world and rifted here..." She took a large whiff of the girl, "My they smell odd. Somewhat of oil, of all things... And a few other.... Curios I cannot place my fin upon."

Melusine looked to Sage, "No, just because they smell of oil it doesn't mean we can set them aflame." she didn't know if he was that type of dragon, but she wanted to say that before he did anything harsh to the humans.

She returned her attention to the human before her, "Now then, young one. What is your name?" Melusine asked in a peaceful voice.

»"Look, it wouldn't be gentlemen-like IF I LET THEM EAT YOU FIRST." Roland shouted. With quaking legs, he finally managed to stand up. The black dragon, however, scoffed when Aeolus mentioned being eaten...

Then the dragon began to examine Roland. His heart jumped into his throat before falling back into place and running a marathon. He hardly even noticed that there was a second dragon nearby... Until it started for Aeolus. He wanted to shout for her, but no words came out. Instead, his brown eyes darted back to the dragon in front of him.

Dragons. Dragons! Never had he believed they existed other than the names given to little lizards. He didn't want to say this, or else he might get hurt...

"Oh my goodness..." he managed to squeak.

It seemed that the dragons were just as shocked to meet humans as they had been to meet the dragons. The female dragon approached them, this one obviously prettier. Her scales glittered, and she seemed more like a snake with wings than a proper dragon. Yet something about this dragon was gentler, safer almost. Especially since the black dragons comment about her making a meager meal freaked her out further, and her eyes widened with horror as she gaped at him.

Roland shouted back at her. Not being a gentleman. Hah! Of all people to say that, this guy did. How many times had he called her a kid and 'Pollyanna', yet still he wanted to be a gentleman. Oh well, she couldn't really scold him for that. He had tried to save her. Although it seemed there wasn't much to be saved from, according to the blue, female dragon's feeling. She sniffed Aeolus.. yes, sniffed. She described her smell as of oil and other things she couldn't pinpoint. Aeolus sniffed her shirt cautiously, thinking of how she had smelled like coconut this morning due to her shampoo. She hadn't used oil.. wait, wasn't soap made out of oil? She frowned from all the thought.

The blue dragon scolded the black dragon about not setting them on fire (much to Aeolus's relief), and then turned back to her. Aeolus looked up at the dragon curiously, having straightened out of her fetal position. She asked for her name in a very gentle voice, which made Aeolus ease a bit. "Um.. I'm Aeolus.." She stuttered in wonder.

Melusine sighed, "Aeolus..." she repeated, "Not a name that would seem common here. Although, I do like it."

With a deep bow of her head, the sea dragon introduced herself, "I am Melusine, of Sea-Fog." normally, if a dragon knew the meaning of their name, they would give a formal greeting such as this. Melusine decided to give a fancy greeting since Aeolus was not only a new face, but a new breed.

She poked the black dragon in the side, "Well, introduce yourself to the boy. Before he passes out from fear, or something. Look at his knees quake!"

((Raaaaaaarrrrrrgggh!!!!!! I had a nice post up of Sage introducing himself, and it freakin vanished!))
Sage shot Melusine a glance as she told him not to light them on fire. How barbaric did she think he was? Light them on fire indeed, he'd sooner set his own library ablaze than harm the newest additions to their world. He put one paw to his chest and struck a pose and expression of mock indignity. "Me? Harm them? I think you have been around the war drakes too often. I can't hold a conversation with anything that's burnt to a crisp you know." He said. He couldn't hold the pose any longer and let out a chuckle, placing his paw back on the floor.

"Hmph. Don't light them on fire she says, I'm not a barbarian, I'm a dragon of higher learning. However, it seems my manners have taken a vacation as of late. My name is Sage the Elementalist. Please, you have no reason to fear either one of us. Why don't we talk on more even ground?" he asked pleasantly.

He glanced to Melusine, and with a flourish, two black disks about 5' around formed in the air. Both had a chair of appropriate size for the two humans, and once they sat down, they would be gently lifted to a more comfortable eye level with the two dragons, making talking easier for both parties.

Melusine couldn't help but laugh at Sage's reaction to her comment. "Oh, come now," she said jest fully, "I was only kidding you know. I never saw you as a barbaric type." she shook her head and looked to Aeolus, "Some people can't tell the difference between my jokes and my serious tones."

Melusine watched as Sage summoned up to black chairs, which floated with ease. The bottom which held them seemed wide enough for them to not only climb onto, but so the chair wouldn't flip over when the humans sat upon them. Well, she hoped they were wide enough. Although it would be rather amusing to see them flop over so, it wouldn't be very nice to allow them to hang upside down whilst clinging onto their chair for dear life.

While she waited for the humans to climb onto their chairs, Melusine began to wonder what they could do with the humans. Although she had read about humans and how barbaric some of them were, these two humans were too terrified to behave in such a manner, especially around two dragons of all sorts. Finally, she decided that when all of the introductions were over(they boy hadn't yet introduced himself...), Melusine would give them a tour of her palace... Yes, that would be nice.

The castle was large and had many nooks and crannies to adventure. It was amusing to watch the faces of young dragons as they looked around the palace. You see, the castle was at a point where when the tides were down enough, the highest peaks poked out of the water. However, the tide was rather high today, and the castle found itself completely submerged, and pretty well under deep waters.

»Roland could only listen into the whole conversation, pretty well parallelized with fear. He could hear Aeolus say her name in a timid way. He furrowed his brow when the black dragon in front of him grew quite offended when the other dragon scolded him by telling him to not set the humans aflame.

... Although he liked that idea, he still found it weird that a dragon would be offended by such a comment. He thought that dragons, the ones in fairy tales he somehow managed to sit through as a kid, liked to burn things down and took great happiness in such behavior. He also watched Mythbusters and he knew that explosions were amusing.

Well, he was starting to lose sense of things, so, Roland snapped back to reality... Or as much reality as he could muster, considering his position. Well, the other two dragons had introduced themselves, so Roland decided that he had to go about saying his name... He wasn't going to introduce himself like he would to a crowd... He would sound like a dork if he did... So, he simply said:

"Yo, I'm Roland." and then he shut up.

Sage the black dragon or whatever made two chairs that floated. At first, Roland didn't really know what to do... But, it seemed as though the two dragons wanted to get a better view of them, while giving them a better view. Timidly, Roland stepped onto the platform first, and slowly sat down. It seemed safe enough... Could he control it? He wasn't ready to yet find out. Roland really didn't want to go zooming into a wall all of the sudden.

While the platforms may have looked like they had the potential to flip over, in reality, they were steady as stone. Sage looked to Roland, who had finally introduced himself, as he sat down, and with a thought the platform hovered gently up to a more comfortable eye level.

"Well Roland, It's a pleasure to meet you. I know this is a rather unwelcome situation for both of you, but how in the name of the spirits did you arrive here?'

((oh dear I missed a lot. I was just shopping with my mom. O _ O ))

Aeolus was quickly set into her speech upon the dragon's interest in the name. "It's a greek name." She blurted, before gently withdrawing a bit. She continued, suddenly timid. "It's the name of the god of wind. Typically used for males." She looked up to the beautiful dragon. She smiled a bit upon her mention of liking it. She then proceeded to introduce herself in grandeur. She blinked, surprised by the fanciness of the title. She was rather impressed, Melusine seemed like a dragon of character.

The black dragon who Aeolus had first laid eyes on seemed rather offended by Melusine's comment about setting her and Roland on fire. She looked up at Melusine upon her speaking and giggled a bit, shielding a smile with her hand. He introduced himself as well, this time as an Elementalist. As soon as he was done though, he made two black disks plenty wide with chairs upon them appear. She gasped, eyes widening as she watched the magic work.

She approached the disk curiously, looking around the chair that sat upon it. Then she heard Roland's voice. She had almost forgotten he was there. She scowled at his introduction, watching him step cautiously onto the platform. She followed suit, but instead of being gentle, she plopped into the chair. Then proceeded to glare at him, pissed at his lameness. "Yo? Really? After both of these grand introductions.." She sighed, relaxing back into the chair. "You can take the boy out of Brooklyn, but you can't take the Brooklyn out of the boy."

Without much notice, her platform gently rose up to the level of the dragon's heads. She felt a bit of a woozy feeling in her stomach that soon passed. Sage then asked how the two of them got there. Oh boy, she could feel an argument coming.
