Nature has a will all it's own...

"You may think I read your mind, but that was not intended to work that way. It only allows one to speak, and the waves were not the concern, it was the intent that guided the storm. I know of the stone's location because I keep an eye on it myself from afar. I have a few friends on the council, but I will not divulge their names. They know of my fascination with the stone, and I have sworn that I will never make any attempt to acquire it for my own. I have studied it enough to know that it possesses energies all it's own, and I just felt them flare. If you bothered to keep your senses open you might have known that better than even I." he said, his anger still evident.

He settled himself lower and looked at her more closely, forcing his anger to cool. "I apologize for the improper greeting. I was still suffering from being hit by lightning. Whomever sent the storm wasn't happy I ruined their plan, and decided to punish me for it. I had only just finished mending my wounds when I felt the pulse. I was only heading there to make sure if any assistance was needed, someone was close at hand."

Eventually, you learn how to make it work for you.

»Roland merely stared at the girl. He bore a sceptical look, but that changed when his stomach growled, "Yeah, okay. Then if it isn't a dream, then how in the world did we get here?!"

"And if you don't want me calling you Pollyanna, I think you should tell me your name! You know, that was never mentioned." Roland crossed his arms in his defense.

Roland started to examine the room, and was about to spot the Anklar behind the desk, when he was cut short by a sudden, loud roar. The teen gasped, and tried to find it's source... With no avail. "What was that?" he asked.

There was a splash, and another roar. It sounded as if something was approaching them from elsewhere in the castle... Roland's already racing heart started a marathon as he wondered what it was.... What could have cause that...?

Melusine huffed. "Friends with the Elders? I knew all of them as children!" a toothy grin, "The eldest dragon is only a hundred years younger than me, or so... He's about three thousand, nine hundred and eighty... Unless I missed a few birthdays." she smirked, "So, don't try to tell me off on knowing the elders. I probably adventured with them before they became elders!"

"As for the flare, I am sure something simply occurred... I doubt someone is making an attempt at it. I doubt anyone would be fool enough. Like I said, I do have a Krakken who has taken a like towards me."

Melusine suddenly looked away, "Did you hear that? No, never mind you couldn't have. It's too far underwater." she sighed, "Well, looks like you were correct, then. Someone is indeed after the Anklar, and the Krakken has found them. He's... Probably making his way into the castle now..."

She sighed, "I can provide a way for you to go underwater, but I must poison you slightly. This venom is used to allow other dragons underwater... But you must move quickly or else it could suffocate and kill you." Melusine looked the dragon in the eye, "I can easily remove the poison, so you have no danger unless you take too long. How does this sound to you?"

Melusine decided to allow him to come with her. She had heard of a black, magic-using dragon that was friends with a few of the elders... So, she had no choice but to believe him. Besides, he seemed very interested in the Anklar, and as a fellow scholar, she knew the excitement of being able to see what you were studying up close.

Aeolus giggled a bit when his stomach growled loudly. Well, he really must have skipped breakfast. Yet suddenly, she felt a familiar empty, feeling in her stomach, and it growled. Her hand flew to her flat belly and held it as she blushed. That was right, she had been in such a hurry that morning she had forgotten to eat anything. She cast her glance aside, avoiding what would probably be an obnoxiously cocky look from the man.

She looked back up quickly. "We got here because of the Anklar. That thing, whatever it is, is magic. It brought us here - I mean, it would explain the whole electricity thing. The reason you can't see it is because you're a non-believer." She huffed, crossing her arms over her chest.

She scoffed at the name comment. "You haven't told me your name either, Mr. Grumpy." She glared, but after a pause softened a bit. "Well, anyway, my name is Aeolus. Now what's yours.." She gave in, before being cut off by a.. was that a roar? She stiffened, her heartbeat picking up at a rapid pace. She could tell it was coming closer to the two of them.

She unconsciously drew closer to the man, looking around warily. "What was that..?"

Sage could tell she knew the elders, but he didn't let it get to him. His information was accurate, and something bothered him a bit after Melusine had offered her path under water. He had his own methods for that. "I can take care of my own underwater needs, though the thought is kind. The thing that bothers me is that if someone were attacking or trying to steal the Anklar, they would have to enter from the outside. If that's the case, then why would a pulse from the Anklar prompt it to go inside...?" he said, looking bemused. A thought occurred to him maybe that something had been brought in to the castle. No, that couldn't be, he would have felt something as complex and dangerous as teleportation magic. He muttered a few incantations, and dove below the water.

»Roland, being the stubborn jerk he was, pushed the thought of magic out of his head. All this jabber about being a non-believer... He could care less. He wasn't naive, and he wasn't about to give in, yet. Like I said, he was being the stubborn jerk he was.

The roar grew louder, and it sounded as if something very very large was now trying to make it's way into the palace, or whatever it was that they were in.... "Whatever it is... I don't want to stay and find out..."

Roland began to search for somewhere to hide, "There isn't anywhere for us to go..." he said, "We're going to have to hide." yet another roar, "Come on!"

"Oh, and I said my name when I introduced myself! If you were paying attention, you would have heard me say that my name was Roland!"

Melusine sighed. Well, he obviously didn't want her help. Still so very reliant on magic... Well, with a shrug, Melusine heaved a sigh, and dove underwater.

With ease, Melusine quickly caught up with Sage and quickly passed him. She really didn't mean it in a way to show off, it was just too easy. Well, it was easy for any sea dragon to surpass a land dragon.

Melusine lead the way to her palace, keeping an eye out for any schools of fish in case she went hunting later in the day. Very few fish were out today, which was terribly odd... She would have to go about investigating that later...

They arrived at her castle, and the first thing Melusine noticed was that the Krakken wasn't in his cave as usual... Which means he did find something in the castle... Great. Melusine swam underneath what looked like a part of her castle over-hanging a cliff. This was the entrance to the castle, an entrance much like to an underwater cavern that has air in it.

Melusine leapt onto the cold stone of her palace, and quickly found the krakken. She spoke to him in a strange tongue, and he replied with telling her that there was an intruder. Melusine nodded, but told him to leave the castle, and thank you for taking great concern for the well-being of the Anklar. With a nod, the Krakken left.

Sage knew he wasn't much of a swimmer, and he was completely unsurprised when the sea serpent passed him. He simply followed her and kept going, He would have liked to see some of the fish that tended to live in the region, but it seemed a little empty. He let the fact slip his mind and continued to follow Melusine into the grotto entrance of her castle.

His head broke the surface of the water and he immediately spotted her, and what was undeniably a Krakken. "I hope you don't mind that I followed. It's rather difficult to speak underwater when my voice is so ill suited to it." he said, sliding to one side of the entrance for the creature to make it's exit. "Maybe I'll even find a way to convince you to introduce me to him. I've never met a Krakken before."

The prospect of meeting and possibly learning about such a creature had thoroughly derailed his concern for the intruders. He hadn't sensed anything, and nothing had challenged the large squid beast, so the danger couldn't have been massive.

"Ummm.... Would it be alright if I accompanied you? I won't touch anything......" he asked the sea serpent. He was concerned for the Anklar, but he was also quite cold.

((Meh, this post kinda sucks))

Aeolus felt her heart pounding and her hands grow cold and clamy. The roars were not just loud, but terrifying. They sounded like the horrible screams of a dying animal, or something. She shivered and looped her arm through the man's without thinking, clinging to him. She did that sometimes, her mother always complained that she was too clingy. But let's be fair, those roars were pretty darn horrifying.

The feeling was mutual, as he seemed just as frantic as she felt. There was no way out of the castle, so they would have to find a hiding place somewhere. Well, it was a castle, right? There must be somewhere to hide in a castle. She gripped his arm a little tighter, not wanting to be left behind with whatever had made that roar. He said something about his name. She slowed a bit, almost pausing and letting her grip loosen a bit. "Wait, you introduced yourself?" She blinked, genuinely surprised by this revelation. So his name was Roland. How old fashioned. She would've snickered, but she was more concerned about the fact that he was moving on without her.

"Hey - hold on! Don't leave me here!" she cried, chasing him down.

Melusine watched the krakken leave... He was getting much better with moving on land, thankfully. To the dragon's request, she had to reply, "I would have to introduce you both myself... He speaks an ancient language, and hasn't yet learned the one you and I share."

Melusine started through her palace with ease, "I do not mind your accompaniment, but I do hope you sound much more courageous when we face whatever it was that caused the disturbance you felt." she moved along the cold stone like a snake would. The other dragon would easily surpass her, but she hoped he didn't, for she knew the way.

"Whatever is here..." Melusine said in a vacant way, "It doesn't smell at all familiar..."

»Roland hardly noticed that Aeolus was clinging on his arm. Actually, his whole body became numb as he began to think of what sort of beast could meet them undersea. Or what could get to them.

In a natural impulse he ran, but, slid to a stop once he realized that the girl wasn't close after him. "Hurry up, Aeolus!" he said in a hurried whisper, "Just don't slip and fall. You could break your nose on this floor!"

His brown eyes frantically searched for a place to hide... And it sounded like something was coming closer... Roland's heart raced... "Hide in the book shelf!" there were a few empty spaces along the bottom of the shelves that went along the walls.

He picked a place for himself to hide. Not too far away from his own hiding place was a smaller one that Aeolus could fit in. "Hurry!" he said through his knees.

Roland warned her of the wet floor and kept going. Aeolus followed carefully, remembering how he rubbed his nose when they had 'arrived'. She had let her thoughts wander a bit as she absent mindedly followed him, but upon hearing the sounds of something nearing them, she was yanked out of her reverie and back into the terrifying reality. She felt panicy, trying to keep her head level while she followed Roland. At the same time he mentioned it, her head snapped to the shelf. A small empty space in a very, very large bookshelf.

He quickly made work of finding his own hiding spot, and she heard his voice telling her to hurry. She squeezed her tiny frame into the spot, ducking her head down and clutching her knees. "Oh god." She repeated the phrase over and over in a tiny voice, clenching her fists in fear as she heard the creature responsible for that roar approach. She immediately clamped her jaw shut and forced her body into a ball as tiny as possible.

Sage heaved his bulk out of the water and shook himself somewhat dry. He then followed the sea serpent. He did pass her, but only enough to check around the next corner. He sniffed at the air and looked to her. "You're right. I can smell.... Two of them, I think anyway....." he said after a moment. As they approached what he assumed was a study, the smell got much stronger, and more defined. He could definitely smell two now, a male and a female, and something about it tugged at him. He thought about it for a bit, and then it hit him. The undertone to the smell was similar to animals he had hunted in the forests. They were terrified..... "I think we should be cautious, I smell fear on both of them."

Melusine easily caught their smell, "My word, they're quite terrified. Much more terrified than any thief would be." and this was one thing Melusine knew. Most thieves had enough back bone to attempt to face Melusine... I'm not saying it ended well at all for them, but they had bravery hard enough to face her.

"They are indeed still in here." Melusine stated, "And the Anklar seems virtually untouched." she moved closer to examine it, "It does, however, seem to pulsate some sort of power off of it." Melusine heaved a sigh.

"Look, you are better at this than me. I was never so keen as to feel... Magic, as you would say." really, that was because she never cared for magic, and never used it herself. She always preferred to rely on the powers she was given naturally. "In the mean time, I shall search for the intruder."

»Roland soon found himself praying. He was praying hard, and hardly breathing. His eyes were open wide and staring forward with deep fear. He couldn't move, he couldn't breath, and soon, he couldn't think. His whole body fell knumb.

Roland wanted to close his eyes so he wouldn't have to see what happens next. It was almost like a gruesome horror story, where people in the audience are screaming, "Don't go!" It felt as if he was a part of that movie, and he began to wish he was a part of the crowd, instead.
