Kinara briefly heard a door open and close from far away. She looked around; no one else could be seen, until another boy rounded the corner with an easy gait.
Oh, yay, she thought, Another prisoner-to-be.
Because while the school was gorgeous, and she felt a strange welcome-ness within it's walls that had been absent at her previous school, she felt an ache, a need to be outside again.
Still, she smiled and waved, her thoughts safely stored in her head. "Hi," she offered the newcomer as he drew closer.

He thought about turning back and not having to go with the boring lecture about punctuality and other nagging things like that which always managed to irritate teachers. In fact, just existing seemed to annoy teacher as he was regarded as "unstable" as one teacher from his other school delicately put it, but he knew this was another name for being a freak. Well, that was why he was here after all. He'd being put into a school for unstable people like himself, which is why he felt so cautious back in the entrance. He wasn't bad-tempered or violent to other, well, on most days he wasn't. He was happy at school and had loads of friend, this was one of the things that had annoyed the teachers he guessed. They knew something that he didn't, the way they would stare at him when he walked down the corridors or not meet his eyes when he would pleasantly say good morning to them. Like he had an unknown source of power that had everyone fear him but had not realised what that was yet. Maybe this school was different, but he doubted it.

He was about to turn and run in the opposite direction when one of the girls from the bee-line of students called to him. He sighed as he trudged towards them. So much for the quick getaway. He didn't bother to respond as he drew closer to them. He simply glanced at each of them in turn to see which would flinch first. It was the woman of course, as he had predicted. Even before he came closer she could see she was already nervous around the rest of the group she was leading. He merely gave her a cold look and ignored her while he watched to the rest. They were all different in the way they dressed and acted but he remained silent. He regarded the girl with the red hair that had greeted him before and replyed dully."Hey."

Oh joy, Destera thought as she saw another teenager approaching. Here comes another one. The former goddess gave the newcomer the most cursory of glances, taking in his appearance in only a few seconds. While his form did not appear to be much, the aura around him spoke differently. He was another like herself and the others, another one with a powerful aura.
It would seem we are all being gathered here. But to what purpose? Of course, up until she had come here, Destera had had no idea that a few of the other gods and goddesses had been reborn. She had thought that she, for whatever reason, had been the only one. Imagine when she came here and found not one, not two, but three others. And now, with the appearance of this one, four. It really did make one wonder just what the headmaster was up to, or even if he was in his right mind.
A sigh escaped her and Destera tried to clear her mind. It was no use thinking on things such as that when she was so distracted or had other things to do; she would never think clearly. So she pushed aside those thoughts to ponder later, when she was alone and able to relax. Perhaps outside under the darkened sky at night?

Kinara observed the newcomer. He looked terribly bored, and a little...off. Then again, so did Andrew, and he was nice enough. He was also very good-looking, and felt the same as the other youth, his aura like little lightening bolts tingling along her skin. Each of them had power inherent, and that made her feel nervous. She wasn't the only one, either, seeing Mrs. Maria flinch out of the corner of her eye.
Oh, for God's sake, she thought. You'd think she'd be ready to deal with unstable reincarnations of deities. Curiosity made her want to grill the secretary, but she held her tongue.
Destera, too, looked like she had a lot on her mind, she noticed, but somehow Kin knew that she wouldn't be willing to share with the likes of her.
"My name's Kinara--Kin," she said to the new guy, holding out a hand. "What's yours?"

"Danny." he said casually and shook her outstretched hand. Then, as their skin touched, he felt fire burn up from his core and flash down his arm in a series of sharp, needle-like jabs. 'Not now!' He withdrew his hand just in time to see it burst into flames. His hand was barely visable through the amber blaze that surrounded it but he could just see his arm perfectly intact, not even his sleeved were damaged. He watched the flame realising that had nearly set the girl alight with a mere handshake. Not a completely bad start to the day. It was better than the first day of his previous school where an unsuspecting student came across this scene and had wet himself. But the students here seemed calm enough not to have such an unfortunate mis-hap. Maybe the teachers were right about sending him here, after all, he had come to realise that causing certain parts of your body was not exactly an every day event of a normal student.

He waited for a moment to see everyone's reaction to this. He did not control this, it just happened. Usually when he touched or was around power and powerful objects. Maybe he wasn't the only one with secrets. He looked at the students. Maybe they all were the same, all like him. He paused and looked at the woman. Well, all except her. So this planned that they should all meet together. Whoever is the head of this school that deciding to bring people like us all together is a maniac.

Soon enough, the fire died down and revealed his unharmed hand and slightly singed cuffs. "Damn." he said to no one in particular as he brushed away the ashes on his sleeve. "I just got this shirt yesterday." He sighed as he folded over the rough edges and smiled at the girl. "Nice to meet you."

Arielle raised an eyebrow. Things were getting ever so slightly interesting.

"Peculiar," she chimed in, lowering the book. "Would that be a chemical reaction? Something on your skin, perhaps? Though I've long regarded spontaneous combustion as impossible... perhaps that, maybe?" Cold as she was, Arielle was curious as a cat when it came to something she did not understand. "No, that can't be right... nothing happens without a cause. That's science. There is no spontaneous motion, regeneration, combustion, or anything of the like. So what gives?"

It was uncommon, hearing the quiet, aloof girl say this many words in a row - but when she was interested, she was very interested.

That isn't it, a voice boomed inside her skull, making her grab her head.

This voice came sometimes, she had no control over it. It always gave her the worst of headaches. But it did tell her useful things.

He is much like you. A diety in disguise. You are all much alike. The voice withdrew, and the pounding between her ears decreased to a tolerable level.

"Ah," she said rather numbly. "I see. That explains a lot." She gave no indication of what explained a lot. She never did.

When the fire started on Danny's arm, Kinara had already let go, as if something was controlling her body. As if the flames had been...expected? And while surprise and fear flooded her mind for a brief moment, it was immediately squashed by a calmness. The emotions were both detached and part of her. Must be that ancient goddess acting up, she thought, watching the flames with fascination.
She heard Arielle blabbering in the background, heard the words, absorbed them, but didn't really care. They were all certainly...special.
A laugh came up out of her throat, not hysterical, but genuine. "That was impressive," she said to Danny. "I'm kinda reminded of Johnny Storm from Fantastic Four."

He flexed his arm muscles for a few moments, his usual check-up that there wasn't any internal burning but everything seemed fine. He "power" had been acting up for a while now. It only used to set off sparks back at school when he wanted to scare away bullies and, most of the time, his teachers. But most thought he had a cigarette lighter up his sleeve and thought it was a well performed magic trick. This was going to be a bit hard to pass off as a cigarette flame though. He calmly looked around. He didn't really care what the others thought, in fact he liked to be different. To be given this power was like a dream but of course it came at a price. But for the time being, he was going to let these people in on his secret... if he knew what that secret was. He wasn't sure how to respond to the questions so lying was his safest bet.

"I think I've seen the film." But for now he was just going to buy his time until he managed to understand more about himself before he spread theories that he wasn't even sure about himself. "I dunno what happened. Maybe I left my lighter in here."

He knew this was a long shot but he tried anyway. He put his hand down the inside of his shirt and fished inside his trouser pocket. He said a silent prayer and almost leapt when he found what he was looking for. He withdrew his clenched fist out of his sleeve and opened it to reveal a red lighter.

"Must've got stuck when I got changed this morning" he scratched the back of his neck and gave an innocent smile. "Sorry I made you girls worry about me." He winked and looked to the woman. "Hey! Is this a tour or a staring contest here?"

Destera could have laughed as she heard Daniel's excuse. A lighter? Did he really expect them all to believe that? It was the most pathetic excuse she had ever heard. Well, at least for someone who could tell the difference. That was most definitely not a lighter, she had felt the spark of power go off when it happened. If he thought he could hide that, he was mental.

"You're lying," Destera told Daniel calmly. "That was not caused by a lighter. To try and pin it on that excuse is laughable. I'm sure all of us here can tell there was something else behind it, even this useless tour guide." Said guide looked mad at being called useless. "A word of advice: next time you want to lie, try making it believable." Well, that was certainly the most she had spoken since she came here. Before this she had kept the amount of words she said to a minimum. Apparently she deemed this moment perfect to speak just a little more. Of course, she shut up the minute she finished. Destera wasn't going to say anything more than was necessary. And right now it wasn't necessary for her to say anything else.

As she studied his arm, the girl tried to identify the power she had felt. Really, the gods who controlled fire were narrowed down to one. But she wanted to be absolutely sure in that before she came to a decision. It didn't matter which god he was really. Destera was just curious. She wanted to know which ones she was stuck in this school with.

Kinara mentally shook her head at the lie, but understood why Danny would say such a thing. No one wanted to be regarded as a freak, never mind the company you happen to be in.
He's obviously a little behind on the fact that we're all...special, Kin thought. That was unfortunate. Someone would have to clue him in pretty fast...Like Destera did, and quite bluntly. The girl got a zero for people skills, and while the previously quiet girl had some valid points, her tone and haughty attitude made Kinara bristle.
She knew it would not do to make an enemy of the girl, but she suddenly felt very defensive, even if the verbal attack hadn't been directed at her. Danny didn't deserve the attitude.
"It makes sense why he would," she said, keeping her tone light. "Normal people don't randomly burst into flame. Normal people don't want to be near people who randomly burst into flame. So why wouldn't you try to hide the fact, regardless of present company?" She regarded Danny and shrugged. "I think normal is so boring, don't you?"

"Personally, I think most things are boring," Arielle added, "Including mildly unusual. The only things that are interesting are downright bizarre." Her voice was dull and cold, as per usual. "So congratulations. You've made it into my 'mildly interesting' category. Feel honored."

With that, she turned to the aforementioned useless tour guide. "When will we be seeing the library?" she asked rather directly, "I have very little interest in classes or anything else of the like, but I do require a source of books. If there isn't a proper library, I may have to contact my parents to have them ship me my personal collection." While she didn't intend to be, Arielle was a solid snob at times. "Also, is there an observatory? I have my own telescope with me, of course, but if there is no designated area for them I will have to find one myself." She was quick to change topics.

Turning back to the group, she glanced around, taking in what she could see. Clearly they were all... different. Much like her, she assumed. Then who were they, exactly? More importantly, which ones had she always disliked?

"You taught me that life doesn't last forever. That's why we have to help each other and live life to the fullest. Even if you say goodbye, you'll always be in our hearts. So, I know we're not alone anymore."

Danny did a short comical bow as if had entertaining an audienced in a theatre. "Mildly interesting it is then," he said to the girl now asking for the library he then turned to Kin. "and not boring," he lasty turned to the girl he had seemed to annoy the most. "and to be truthful." he looked back to the group. It was going to be hard work to keep all happy... or killing him at least.

He smiled when he realised that he had been accepted, more or less, as he was rather than pretending. Truthfully, he knew that things could have gone a bit smoother but that didn't really matter anymore. He felt like he finally belonged somewhere. No more stares, rumors and lies in order for him to not be a freak and having to fit in with people that were nothing like him. Like peacock needing to fit in with a flock of pigeons but never going to be able to shed his tail feathers which he was most proud of and that made him unique.

He walked and added the trail of people behind the woman. "So, where to next?" he asked around barely able to hide his smile.

A woman with long black hair that was wrapped up into a tight bun, held in place by what looked like an antique stick that was engraved with symbols. Her dark violet eyes watched them behind clear glasses, burning like tiny embers. They had finally arrived. A small smug smile bloomed on her pale lips. Her thin, yet strong arms wrapped themselves around her waist as she watched them. She saw the fire start and immediantly felt like cackling. They were right where she wanted them. She knew that she couldn't attack yet, but her claws were already extending, she could feel it. Her hot gaze turned to her right hand to examine it, unhooking her arms. The tips of her clear, nailpolish free nails had morphed, becoming inhumanly sharp, like claws. "Now now. We wouldn't want to end the fun so soon." she chided herself. Her gaze returned to the reborn gods and goddesses. Not all were here, but she could wait. After all, the hunt was only beginning. She looked down and made sure she was still in her human form. She wore a dark purple blouse that buttoned up in the front with a black skirt that went to her knees, pared with strapped black heels that make a nice, clean click sound with every step she took. A wave of excitement corsed through her as she thought of all the gods and goddesses in the school. Alexandria Alecto De Tarius threw one last look at the unsuspecting crowd of prey and then spun on her heel, walking away and disappearing into the shadows of the school. Perfect. Everything was going according to plan, and as people of this era said, the party was just beginning.

Kinara smiled at Danny's antics. He was so cute! None of the kids she'd gone to school with had been this easygoing. Then again, none of them had burst into flame upon human contact, either.
As the tour got underway again, Kin kept darting glances at the boy out of the corner of her eye. The fire incident had made her curious. Obviously he couldn't control it perfectly, otherwise, he wouldn't have used it at all. Had it been her touch specifically that had set it off, or just random chance? She wondered...
And stopped, her entire body tensing. The hairs on the back of her neck stood up. Someone...somewhere...was watching them.
Hunting them.
The phrase came, unbidden, to her mind, and Kin looked up, face averted from the group. If anyone had looked into her green eyes right now, they would have seen a blaze of fury.
No one hunted her.
But there was no one in sight. She heard nothing, felt nothing except the fact that someone was watching them.
And then not. The feeling went away, and she thought, maybe, straining to hear, that she heard the click of high heels walking away. But the sound was so distant, and she knew she would never have heard it if she was not what she was.
A soft sigh escaped her lips. Schooling her face into a passive mask, she started forward again. The only things that betrayed her hidden emotions was the white-knuckled grip on her bow-case, and a smoldering anger in her eyes.
