Ģabrielle strolled into the screening room part of the casino, just to see who the competitors were whom had had their sorry asses pulled into her employer's game this time. It was early. For her, ten o'clock in the morning was early. But why wouldn't it be since she stayed up half the night, every night, anyway.

And of course, right away she spotted the infamous Isaiah with his favorite call-girl, Loraine. Brie strolled over to them; her black, knee high, high-heeled boots making a clicking sound every time she stepped on the checkerboard tiled floor. In between the boots and her blouse were one of her only pair of jeans. Dark washed and skinny, they fit her snug and tight to help show off her curves.

Brie's blouse was a somewhat funny color. It was stuck between a champagne and a lavender color. It had the slightest grey tint to it as well. Of course, since this is Brie we're talking about, it was pure silk. The shiny blouse looked marvelous on her. Why would she have bought it if it didn't? The top was loose and slightly billowy, but wasn't baggy. It skimmed her sides, but it wasn't form fitting. The torso had some rouching to it, which mimicked the draping that was very fashionable at the moment. From the shoulders to the elbow, the sleeves where flowy and poofed out. From the elbow to the wrist, it was tapered. The sleeves were slightly reminiscent of an Edwardian dress, structurally wise.

She stopped next to Loraine placed her bug-eyed, black celebrity glasses on top oh her head. Looking up to the televisions, she asked "Who'd you have Isaiah bet on this time, feathers?" She called Loraine that whenever she was wearing one of her more... eccentric... costumes. Her attention was caught by two people being flung around by two giant tentacles. So the squid was brought back, finally, after being cut to bits from five games ago. She remembered it well because it had interrupted her show for almost two hours.

Brie crossed her legs and placed a leather, black fingerless glove on her hip. Her dark pink fingernails shining brightly. If she could bet what would happen at that moment, she would bet that the Aerin girl was probably about to drown and the Zachary fellow would survive. But staff weren't allowed to place bets. The only reason Loraine got away with it was because she always used Isaiah's money. A slight frown appeared at the corners of her mouth making her neutral face not so neutral anymore.

Loraine glanced back over her shoulder. She studied Isaiah's back for a few seconds before turning back around to face Candy. "Eh, mine." Isaiah, definitely would squander away larger sums of cash...especially after a few more visits with the green fairy. She shrugged a bit to her self. If that Aerin chick somehow managed to survive, score. If not, it wasn't a loss.

Loraine's faced softened just a bit at Candy's remark. Was Candy being nice to her? Why? Candy always looked down her nose at her. She lowered her voice so Isaiah couldn't hear before mumbling "That's for sure..." She straightened back up from her slumping. Her face reverted back to normal.

"Hey gorgeous." She cooed to her good friend Brie, and smirked a bit. "I got him to bet on that Aerin chick. The one with Jorge. The one...the one by the squid." Loraine turned around and pressed up against the wall. She could always fluff out her feathers later. She was attempting to clear some room within the Casino's screening room. She didn't see why they wouldn't make it bigger. The guests came here to bet on people, so they might as well watch. She could invision a huge room with plush lounges, with a tinkling chandelier overhead. There would be the monitors lining the walls. She shrugged to herself a bit. "What are you doing up this early?" She tilted her head to the side and crossed her arms, still smirking. Brie would sleep in til 3 in the afternoon if she could.
Zachary Grant

Swimming had been Zachary’s strong point back in high school. He didn’t enjoy it – he was a pasty, lean thing that lacked the defining muscles that girls went after, and stripping down to his boxers to jump into the school pool hadn’t been highlight of his education – and he’d neglected the sport since he’d graduated. That would have been over five years ago, he decided as he struggled in the choppy water, and the lack of practice was showing. It was a big lake, and with the hatchet strapped to his back and his jeans weighing him down he felt he was going very slowly, creeping towards the shore. He’d begun with a freestyle, keeping his head above the water like one would when playing water polo, but fatigue and weight had reduced him to a lazy breaststroke in an alarmingly short amount of time.

There was no way he could forget that tentacle thing down there. The water moved haphazardly, unevenly, whenever the creature moved below the surface. Several times Zachary kicked quick and sharp, his mind conjuring the rubbery limbs wrapping themselves around his ankles and once again pulling him into the depths. Above the sounds of his own struggles the distinct, heavy splash of another body hitting the water could be heard, and he spared the noise a glance. The girl had gone in, it seemed. The moral part of him told him to go and help her but Zachary was a logical man: swimming towards a disorientated person would lead to them clinging to you and pulling you under. Zachary’s limbs were already burning, muscles unused for so long complaining at their treatment. He was surprised when his knees scraped against the shallow edge of the pond himself, and knew there was no way he could support another person.

Staggering from the water, his hair plastered to his cheeks and jeans to his legs, Zachary doubled over and gave a few heaving coughs, liquid flying from his lips. His hands on his knees, the waterlogged man glanced out over the lake. The girl had surfaced. ********, leaving her out there wasn’t right, but what was he going to do from the shore?

A few of the creature’s tentacles waved above the water, as though the creature was doing some strange form of dance. Before the thought had fully registered in his mind, Zachary found a rock in his hand and then saw it fly through the air, towards the tentacles. It didn’t hit, he was way off the mark, but the disturbance was enough to get the creature’s attention. Feeling his entire body shaking, Zachary took a few times to free his hatchet and stand with it at the ready. It felt foreign in his delicate hands, and even worse when he brought it down, hard, on the tentacle that came his way.

The tentacle monster could feel pain. Its entire body stiffened, opening a precious few minutes for the girl to swim for her life. Zachary didn’t want to think that perhaps he’d made the creature more angry.
