Zia came to in a room filled with furniture that was clearly antique and clearly expensive. "Wha..." she shook her head and groaned at the sudden pain shooting through her skull. Her neck ached uncomfortably, probably due to the slumped position she was in on the chair.
"Ah, you're awake. Good."
Zia blinked and then stared at the old woman sitting across from her. "Why am I here?"
"Our organization has a proposition for you."

Lia pulled her sunglasses over her eyes as she stepped out into the bright sun. She never did like the sun, her skin burning easily when it came in contact with it. The sun also made eyes water in pain, hence, the sunglasses. The ways of her people constantly weighed on her mind, wanting revenge on the very race that ended hers. The others trained her in her arts, allowing her to be able to get her revenge. Her ice cold eyes searched the area, making sure it was clear before walking down the street. As soon as the sun falls behind the horizon, she would need to rebuild her strength. She had used to much of it the night before, sneaking into the abandoned building she had spend the night in. A low growl escaped her throat as she passed people that walked too close to her, making them take steps away from her. 'Keep it together Lia. Your cold ways are not welcomed by these humans.'

"You and I
You take my hand leaving me breathless
Take a look in these big blue eyes so you’ll understand
And know why we whisper in hallways
I’ll be with you always
Running together, forever you and I"
~Bare the Musical
"We have rescued people like you, the abandoned ones, and we train you to save humanity from the things they don't know about. Remember those stories about the 'things that 'go bump in the night'? well, those 'things' are more real than people think."

Zia sat there, dumbfounded at the woman's words. "Excuse me, lady, but did you forget to take your meds this morning? What kind of person kidnaps someone off the street and tries to brainwash them about 'things that go bump in the night'?!"

The old woman sighed. "I see this is going to take more convincing...Well then, let's start from the beginning. The story of the abandoned ones is an old one..."

The sweet scent of blood lingered on the cool air. This scent had been coming from a group of bodies that were pinned to graves by strange looking needles that were dark crimson in color. These bodies were ones of local drunks and even a few cops. The bodies looked as if their bones were shattered for the only things that seemed to hold them up right were these crimson spikes. A young male sat on a near cross tomb stone that read Ryan Cross.

Odd that this male picked this tomb stone out of all others to sit on, the main reason he probably sat there was to look out at the bodies. Not only that thou this grave was his own this male was a wanted man and the grave was a cover thou every now and then some cop figured they try to dig up the grave to look but on this day they were unlucky, they had found the man they were looking for and paid for it.

The male wore a white dress shirt and a navy blue coat, on his lower half was a pair of jeans and a pair of white shoes, sure this male was dressed in white but there was no blood splatters on him which ment he could of been the one to pin these guards with the weird spikes. The male sighed and lifted his right hand brushing his silver hair out of his ice blue and crimson eyes.

Zia sat, stunned, as the little old lady who sat across from her told her the story of the abandoned ones. "That's...umm...interesting, but what does that have to do with me?"
The old woman smiled. "You, my dear, are an abandoned one, and you've been nominated by the chosen of the past to become a new chosen one."
"How can I be an abandoned one? I have parents."
"Yes, but isn't it odd that there are no picture of your mother when she was pregnant with you? Doctor's records of your birth? Have you ever seen your birth certificate?"
Zia blinked. "Well...no, but I'm sure my parents have them..."
"No dear, they don't. Haven't you ever wondered about the mark on your neck?"
Zia's hand flew up to the nape of her neck, where the crescent moon mark was concealed by her hair. "How'd you know about that?"
"I know a lot about you, my dear. I watched you grow, waiting for this day to come. That mark is a sign of your powers, the powers you have to use to help the innocent. You are a chosen one."

The male only sat there for a few moments longer before his ears picked up a radio talk from one of the police walking over to the body he smirked abit as he pulled out a combat style knife and cut across the mans throat and let the blood spill out as it did he stuck his hand over the cut and the blood seemed to fade away once the man stopped he turned and began to walk out of the graveyard. He had over heard that there were more on their way to the graveyard and he wasent sticking around to see how many they would send.

Upon exiting the Graveyard he stuck his hands into his pockets and lowered his head as he walked. Ryan was a loner type, sure he could of had friends if he wanted but he dident want any for they only slowed him down. The only people he talked to were ones that wanted to hire a person with his abilities to get something done right.

As Ryan approached a bar he sighed walking into, the scent of whiskey and smoke filled his lungs these were other common scents to him for he went to this particular bar often. Walking to his regular booth to sit when the voice of the elderly man behind the bar spoke" Cross you reek of death" Ryan glanced to the man and smirked"Ill take the usual" he said sitting in his both closeing his eyes and crossing his arms.

The old woman sighed. "I know it's a lot to take in, but you have little time to decide. The Others have sensed your presence, and it wont be long until they come for you, and they aren't as amicable as we are. They will give you two choices: join them, or die. Now then, let's get you home before your parents begin to worry. We will give you one week to decide; that's how long we can keep you safe from the Others." The old woman pushed herself away from her desk and stood. "I suggest you make your decision soon, because we can only protect you for so long."
Zia stood as well. "Umm...all right, but I have one question."
"Yes?"
"What is your name?"
The woman smiled. "My name is Elaine Elizabeth Edwards, but you can call me Lizzie."
Zia blinked, then smiled back awkwardly. "Ok...Lizzie."
Elaine patted her hand. "Don't worry dear, we are doing all we can for you. Now get home safe, and don't mention a word of this to anyone."
Zia was escorted out of the room by two very large men, and taken through a serious of underground tunnels that she would have never been able to navigate alone. She arrived home before dinner was served.

I am not one of those girls you can play with.
If you want one, go buy a Barbie.
