Lyra started humming a soft tune below her breath. It was a slow, enchanting melody, and her sweet voice made it sound like angel's bells were singing it. Her wavy, strawberry blond hair draped over her back and shoulders, and hung over her right eye slightly, veiling part of her face from view. Emerald green eyes scanned the people scattered about; there weren't too many people on the streets.

A chilling feeling crept up her spine, making the hairs on the back of her neck stand on end. She was being hunted; she could feel it. She dared not look behind her, in case she alerted the person she was aware she was being followed. Her face hardened as she continued to walk. She kept her humming up though. It had to be an Other....or...

Her arms crossed over her chest as she veered to the right and darted down a side street. As soon as she'd turned the corner, without warning, she bolted, running as fast as she could down the street. And she was fast. Her shiny hair whipped around behind her as she blew past the people walking from their houses to lunch, or vise versa. She purposely chose side streets to avoid too many people, but had enough people to provide some sort of obstacle. The first street she came across, she made a left down and continued running. She could only hope whatever was chasing her would lose her trail from her zig zagging, and the people who would inevitably get in the way.

Cross watched with a smirk as his hand bled as it wrapped up his arm and around his body, glancing up he noticed his prey was now running, Good he'd have something to play with even if it were only for a while till Ryan regained control of his body. Fallowing her scent onto the street she had ran down there were alot of people but with a devilish smirk he spoke" Move"as that word escaped his lips two large arm like things emerged from his back and shot down between them all and pushed them aside. Some went into the street some went into building windows and what not, It made a straight path for him to walk.

Crosses gaze did not fall onto the girl it was possible he was a tad slow when he was only walking to hunt her but then again he would be the rested one once they met. As he walked the people he had pushed all went into shock screaming at this monster that had two large bloody arms coming out of his back. It was almost like this were a nightmare to them, but in fact it wasent.

Cross slowed his pace and sniffed the air as if he were a hellhound hunting its meal."So you think zig zagging will do?" he asked himself as he closed his eyes and the two large arms folded into his back once again. as he opened his eyes he took off in a mad dash, his speed was great but that wasent all rather then dodge the people on his street he was simply running through them knocking them down. It wouldent be long before he was catching up.

Lyra's heartbeat started to race as she ran, from both the adrenaline and the fact that she could still feel the presence following her. It didn't help she heard screams behind her, which meant her assailant didn't care about the other people. She bit her lip as she kept running. The feeling didn't lessen though. Instead, it intensified, like her chaser was getting closer.

Panicking, she veered to the right, straight into a wide alley with a dead end. s**t. she though, panting slightly. Her frantic eyes searched the alley before they rested on the shadow the building to the left was casting on the ground. She took two quick steps into it, before her feet started to sink. Like she was melting, her body seemingly "fell" through the shadow, as the shadow itself grew darker in color. In truth, she was sort of melting into the shadow, fusing her body with it and becoming a shadow herself. It was why the shadow grew darker.

By the time Cross would get there, he'd see nothing but an empty alley. She watched him from the shadow as he walked into the alleyway. So it is him... she thought, her mind racing to find the reason he could possibly have for chasing her. Was it Ryan, or was it Cross? She already knew the answer though. When his back was turned to her, she reappeared, coming out of the shadow as if it were a portal in the floor. Her body solidified and she glared at his back. It was probably a stupid thing to do, revealing herself. But something told her he'd probably find her eventually anyway. Besides, she was too curious for her own good about this man.

"Why are you following me?" she snapped, her tone harsh and accusing. She had daggers for eyes too, glaring at him the way a lioness does just before she pounces.

When Cross came to the ally he sniffed the air his eyes had fallowed the scent to the shadow where she faded, Cross was no fool he had did many jobs for either side to know enough about abilities of others. When he scent emerged behind him he confirmed it she was a shadow hopper. He did not turn just smirked. "Im here to drain the blood from your body until your lifeless" he tilted his head abit to look over his shoulder at her. His crimson eyes locked onto her green eyes, then his demon like grin wiped across his face. With that small grin his aura changed slightly it went from murder to demon within a moment.

Cross's body turned quickly to face her, as he did this his coat flew off and his right hand drifted up Ryans left arm cutting it with the razor blade enough to alow this arm to be drenched in blood."So lets play abit before then" He laughed as he slapped at the air between them with his bloody right arm. This caused blood to fling off of the arm and change into a small needle like forms. As he lowered his arm he jumped back as well causing him to avoid his own shadow incase she could use it against him.

Lyra's eyes narrowed at his response, and her lips pulled into a thin line. She was angry he wanted to kill her for no reason; she hadn't done anything to deserve it. But, despite her anger, she was a little afraid of him. Not because she feared she would lose against him, or he was too powerful, but because his ability gave her the creeps. So much blood...and she wasn't even the one shedding it. He, himself, was cutting into his own skin to bleed. It was disturbing.

It didn't show on her face though as her rage blazed through her emerald eyes. A twisted smile graced her lips though, and she laughed darkly. "You have no idea what I'm capable of" she said, her tone now just as dark. As she said this, her eyes started to change; the green in them became darker, until the black of her pupils seemed to expand, and the entirety of her eyes flooded to jet black. It took away from her innocent appearance, making her look scary almost. Still, she was beautiful. It was true though. Shadow manipulation just grazed the surface of her dark abilities, and Cross would come to know this soon.

Her twisted smile stayed on her face and she tilted her head to the side a bit. As she did, the alleyway they were in began to darken, as if a black veil were being thrown over the scene. The alley continued to blacken until it was black like her eyes and sweater, an impenetrable darkness that no light could shine through. She giggled tauntingly, letting the nature of her power infect her person. She then teleported, leaving a puff of black smoke in place of where she had stood - though it couldn't be seen since everything else was just as black. She reappeared right behind Cross, in the air, and did a roundhouse kick out of her teleportation right for the back of his head.

When the ally grew dark he let out a demonic laugh, it wasent because he was fearfull of shadow manipulates it was because he felt at home in the darkness, being locked in Ryan was like a dark cage thou now and then he was able to see glimpses of the light and gain control of the body he housed."I guess right"Cross did not move from the air as she appeared simpley smirked"even in this darkness I can smell you" He said as her hit contected with his head but it simply busted into a puddle of blood fallowed by his whole body.

Ryan had came from the ground where his blood had missed her the first time around now she was in mid air with a whole puddle of his blood. With a small notion of his hand the blood exploded into spikes once again sure this was his common attack but it held a great range of attack. He smirked abit as he tapped his heel against the ground behind him and blood formed at his heel into a ball about the size as a soft ball.

Lyra's body swung around with her kick and she landed gracefully on the ground, only to gasp at the blood needles she saw racing for her. Immediately, her body tore apart into shadows, weaving through the darkness like snakes until her body reformed several feet away from him. Being that the entire alleyway was covered in shadow now, she could freely turn in and out of them. She glanced down at her sweater; it was cut in a few places on her right arm and a few shallow cuts were trickling blood. A few needles had grazed her before she got away. She grit her teeth together and growled a little. s**t...making him bleed just gives him more ammunition. What am I supposed to do!? she thought, before glaring back at him. Her left hand came up and wiped the blood away from her arm quickly, just in case he could use that too.

"Interesting. You let me hurt you to attack me...how clever." she said, though her tone lacked actual praise. She licked her lips a little as she walked to the side. "Can I ask why you want to kill me?" she asked, her curiosity peaking through. Her muscles remained tensed, and a small purplish black orb, no larger than a marble, formed in the center of her palm. She held it at her side and close to her body though, and facing away from Cross so he couldn't see; she looked relaxed.

Cross smirked at her"you hurt me please this isent my body girly" his devilish smirk remained as he watched where she wiped away her own blood."Oh I hit you how nice" he said calmly, something surly was wrong now because he had been relaxed the whole time even when she made the ally dark. "every hunter gots to eat to stay strong." he said calmly before he front flipped into the air.

The small crimson blood ball remained on his foot till his body was in mid landing he slashed down with his leg sending the ball at her with great speed as he hit the ground his body busted into a puddle of blood once again. every time he had been doing this he had been covering the shadows with his blood this would make it harder for her to pop up in it for he could attack at that instant.

Cross formed out of the puddle he was just at now he had a large one infront of him he held onto the razor blade tightly"maybe I should go all out now" he rasied his bloody right arm and began to undo his dress shirt he had not watched to see if his attack hit her but once the shirt was opened he spun the blade in his hand. There would only be one reason why he'd do this it was to get to the heart and unleash all the blood at once.

Lyra glared at Cross. "Some brother you are. Wounding your own brother's body just to beat down a girl you don't even know." she snapped, clicking her tongue in a 'tsk tsk' fashion afterward. "You're disgusting." she remarked, as the blood ball was sent hurling toward her. She merely sidestepped quickly out of the way, dodging it as it raced past her and slammed into the back wall.

She turned back to him and glared through the darkness; she was the only one who could see through it with perfect clarity. He had reformed and was now spinning a blade in his hand. She quirked an eyebrow "Going to cut yourself more I see? You're a little masochist, aren't cha?" she mused condescendingly. Suddenly, the darkness faded from the alley, releasing it of it's veil and restoring the autumn afternoon. The blood that had stuck to the shadows now fell to the ground. Her eyes returned to a normal green.

"I don't want to fight you...and I don't want you to hurt Ryan anymore." she said softly, though her voice was grave with a seriousness to it. She didn't like how he was mutilating a body that didn't belong to him. But somehow, she knew he probably wouldn't care for what she wanted...or his brother.

Cross smirked slightly as the shadows fell , He knew mentioning Ryan would make her feel kind heart after all who could hurt such a kind boy. Cross laughed abit to himself"Oh please my brother does not mind what I do besides he wont say nothing."Cross smirked as he rammed the razors blade down the center of his body and blood began to poor rapidly from his body and then once it stopped ryans shell fell to the ground behind the large blood puddle which was now taking shape as a large demon like creature.

The new demon like figure stood large claws at its side, open and closing them as small droplets of blood fell to the ground."Much better Now that im a little more free this should be fun" his words were cold as he looked to her smiling with fanged V teeth."Now I can feast upon your fleash and drink you dry He said lunging forwards with a devilish scream of laughter.

As this was happening Ryans body stood its wounds were healed slightly, each time Cross left his body it heal the wounds slightly so it was not to kill Ryan. Ryans body slowly stood but in break neck speed he was between him and Lyra."Thats enough" He said calmly as he rasied his left hand and a orb of black, crimson and metallic orb sat spinning rapidly enough to produce a werid aura. Ryan tossed it infront of Cross and it spread making a large wall that pushed Cross back into the street. As this took place a truck drove by and hit Cross in the form causing him to splatter over the street.

Ryan slowly turned his head and face her with a smile"Told you id protect yo..."his voice trailed off as he fell to his knees then face. Ryan was not accustomed to his new powers, the manipulation of matter.

Lyra let out a horrified squeak and lunged forward a little as Cross dug the knife into his chest. One of her hands came up to cover her mouth. How could he do such a thing?! He was a monster...and sure enough, his blood formed into a grotesque looking demon. She saw Ryan's body fall to the floor and a new wave of anger coursed through her. She was going to kill this thing. Such a creature didn't deserve life.

But things had to get creepier didn't they? Ryan's body rose from the ground, his wounds healing slightly. Her lip curled a little and her eyes widened as she watched, with a mixture of relief and horror. Ryan was before her then, and pushed the creature away with some sort of energy field causing Cross to splatter against a truck. She stared at Ryan with a dumbfounded, unbelievable look on her face as he said he'd protect her. She couldn't believe how bizarre everything was about this man and every exchange she'd had with him. But it changed to one of worry immediately as he collapsed. She was at his side in a second, grabbing his shoulders and propping him up slightly in her arms.

"Are you alright?! You didn't have to do that you know...I said I didn't want to fight him...not that I wouldn't. I'm not anything like as helpless as I made myself look. I was just trying to spare you any pain..." she explained softly, gazing into his now ice blue eyes. Her emerald eyes glanced at the street, and the blood that was splattered everywhere. "Is he finished for now?" she asked hesitantly, not sure how to phrase it. She knew he probably wasn't dead...something told her he wasn't that easy to get rid of.

Ryan was rather calm once she had helped him up abit, He flashed her his warm smile."Im fine just a fleash wound" he said as he closed his eyes, he was beat he had awakened his powers and delt with the damage Cross had left his body in usually it heal up once Cross went back into the body but due to Ryan awakening and attacking they did not. He shook his head."Try me you wouldent of won If i dident come before he left I caught most of his thoughts within my own and well thats just say, they were enough to wake me up and force out my powers." he lowered his head and yawned abit.

"No My brother is not dead hes a blood miniuplater that was not even a good enough hit." he glanced over his shoulder at some of the blood."But I did re arrange all his dna with that hit so It will take some time for him to pull himself together." he looked back to her and lowered his head onto her shoulder."Not to be rude but your rather soft"his words seemed to be getting quiter he was fighting falling a sleep after a forced awaken.

"We need to get out of here my brother is rather smart It wont take him long to fix himself" he slowly pushed offer her useing her to stand the blood from the half assed heal wounds spilled out abit but he dident wince in pain, like his brother he wouldn't show pain to anyone. He turned to a wall and slowly walked to it and placed his hand on it,A large ring appered and he coughed abit."Come this will take us out side the town into the forest" he said calmly as he walked through it.

Once passing through his portal he fell onto a beach next to a lake and laied there closing his eyes. He was pushing himself too much just so she could escape and live.

Lyra merely rolled her eyes when he said she wouldn't be able to defeat him. Maybe that were true, but she knew people underestimated her because of her appearance and kind nature. She also didn't like being told she'd fail, but being that he was hurt, she didn't say anything about it. Her eyes returned to the street, to stare at the spots of blood splattered everywhere as Ryan told her how it would take him awhile to rearrange. Blinking, her gaze returned to him with his sleepy words of her being soft. She laughed quietly and smiled a little. He really was sweet; it amazed her how he could actually be related to the other.

She nodded when he said they should move and she helped him up. She helped him stand, letting him drape an arm around her and lean some weight on her. One of her hands stayed against his stomach to keep him balanced. While it sat there, she couldn't help but notice how firm it felt beneath her fingertips. She hadn't paid attention during the fight since she was in the middle of fighting for her life, but now she noticed the full extent of his physical prowess. Wow...he has really muscular, cut abs...Stop it. Now's not the time to be thinking like that. she scolded herself, fighting the blush threatening to creep onto her cheeks.

She was grateful when Ryan did something interesting, distracting her from her previous thoughts as he opened some kind of gateway to the forest. She nodded a little, walking with him through it. She wasn't sure why she was trusting him so much. After all, he could secretly be as bad as his brother. But, she doubted it; something made her want to trust him. So she followed and stumbled to the bench with him when he fell. She took two steps back from him when she knew he was seated safely and smiled sheepishly before her shimmering eyes fell on the lake. "Wow." she breathed quietly, taking in the scenery of the forest and the lake. The leaves were changing colors so there was a mixture of green, yellow, red, orange, and gold circling the entire lake. It was stunning. She let her eyes linger for a moment before she looked back at Ryan, who didn't look like he was faring too well.

"Are you going to be alright?"

Ryan had laid there for a few moments he had been gathering matter around his wounds to heal them shut thou it took a few moments he sat up by himself and glanced over to her noticing she was looking the place over. But her eyes had came back to him and he smiled at her"I'll be fine after all Im cross's brother " he said keeping his smile. Sure he loved his brother and cared for him but even then he still acted as if Cross were some hero. Ryan glanced around looking the place over then laid back down in the sand.

"Thankfully I had enough Power to get us this far" he thought for a moment"We are about 132 miles,375 feet from where we were" Ryan seemed to have put alot of thought in this distance it wasn't because he was some skilled person that knew distance by shear chance, he knew this distance for he had traveled it once before."thank fully Cross cant travel as fast and as far as me" he said as he sat back up taking off his white dress shirt exposing his muscular body, on his back was a large tattoo of a Cross.

He slowly helped himself to his feet and streached abit. Before turning to her and walking over to her and with out warning he placed a kiss on her cheek, and moved away heading to the water"Thanks for thinking about me back there" he said calmly as he waded into the water till about his waist.
