It is the year 7100 on the colossal planet, Gaia. It is a world very much unlike our own with advanced technology beyond the pollutants of Earth, magic thrumming beneath the surface, and watchful, powerful gods. But not everything is perfect in this beautiful place. Beings called Shadows sneak through fractures in the dimension’s walls from the dark realm ruled by the evil god, Grim. These vicious, often mindless beasts feed off of negative energy and chaos to grow larger and more sentient - intent on their master’s wicked whims.
But, there are heroines gifted with power of the goddess, created to stop these monsters and protect their people. Females known as Sparks are sent to the Temperance Facility to embrace their destinies. Here is where they learn how to access their powers through gathering in pairs; only with the help of another potential can they cast spells, operate certain vehicles, and summon beasts from another realm. Where alone they could only fail, with their partner they can eventually develop into the Guardians they were meant to be.
Gaia can be a dangerous place for a spark.
Are you brave enough to venture into this world
And realize your full potential?
Girls from ages thirteen to eighteen are accepted into the academy after being tested for the spark. Being accepted into this facility is of great honor for families and the students. Upon arrival they are inserted into public dorms and enrolled into these classes: spells, dual vehicles, summoning, and operations. Roommates are selected at random until Potentials (students of the facility) discover their pairs - they may then share a room with their selected pair. Because a Potential’s power is somewhat dependant on the relationship of their partner, it is encouraged that they establish strong connections with their friends and roommates. A negative relationship can have detrimental effects to a pair’s power.
Shadows are often spotted at the academy and are rarely dealt with by professors and staff. They encourage that the students gain experience by fighting them by themselves. Shadows that enter the school are generally classified as L1 through L10, meaning that they are not excessively dangerous. However, when stronger and more malicious shadows show up on scene and the students find themselves unable to handle them, staff and available guardians will step in.
Temperance Facility is located on a small, man-made island tucked against the shores of Temperance City, which is the capital of Rowan. An ornate bridge connects the city and the campus. Also on the island is the Guardian Headquarters, located in its own building and separate from the facility. Guardians from headquarters often visit the students and act as mentors and guides. These older mentors’ jobs range from political body guards, spying and espionage, backing up the military, and cleaning out shadow nests.
This is a literate roleplay. Proper grammar and sentence structure is required, and please watch your spelling. We anticipate that there may be some mistakes, and no one here will be upset with you if you mess up every once and a while. However, if you are someone who does not practice literacy you will not be accepted.
Even though this is a quality over quantity roleplay, please do mind that you do NOT post one-liners. The content of your post is often reflected in someone else's response, and low content yields low content. It's bad for business!
Seek out play opportunities. In a lot of RPs you find a dozen people not interacting because they want people to come to them. Be the aggressor! Shy characters don't have to openly walk up to someone, but maybe just sit by them awkwardly and interact with them in some way. Give it a shot~ I bet you'll have a more fun!
Rated Pg-13. No sexual scenes in this thread or you will be banned.
Follow the rules set for the dice-action battle system. Yes, this roleplay is home to a battle system fueled by dice! Your character has stats that she can use towards battling shadows or sparring with fellow sparks. But there are some rules that apply to this system, and they can be found in the following posts. Veterans will happily teach you how the system works, so if you have any questions don't be afraid to ask.
Homosexual and heterosexual characters are welcome here. Although this is a yuri-based RP, male characters are allowed. Males are normally city boys or maintenance and personnel for the facility. They do not get the same stats as sparks, so don't be offended if you make a male character and he gets little or nothing in the battle department.
You can play more than one character. I don't care how many you have, as long as you're properly posting replies to everyone who replies to you. My advice is to start off with one or two characters and work your way up depending on your desired activity level.
Shadows cannot possess people. Shadows that are between L1 - L10 are like rabid animals: somewhat mad, pretty angry, and hostile. They seek to feed themselves on grief and strife, or by killing off a spark. Shadows of L11+ tend to be more intelligent or sentient, but they are made of dark feelings and don't seek redemption through good behavior. Although they have some magic of their own, they do NOT possess the ability to possess someone. If you want to play a bad guy, feel free to do it! They don't need to be possessed to be evil or have terrible intentions. Sparks are people, too.

Please don't stress out! It'll be okay! Really! Some folks are just so anxious about joining Temperance because of the dice system, the long-standing characters, and for whatever reasons they might have, but it's important to know that we're willing to work with you! We'll teach you how to use the system, and if you follow the rules about seeking opportunities? Your character will make plenty of friends. No sweat~
Time is a flexible variable in Temperance. A lot of new players are really concerned about what time it is in the roleplay, which is understandable. But in all honesty, time is an incredibly flexible thing here~! Don't worry about it too much; just relax and have fun.
