((Yay!! I'm very happy to hear that I am not going to let this rp die!! So don't worry I can wait.))
We loved the sea, and it branded us with pain…

Xander swallowed, not yet responding as the two men before her spoke, her first mate as vicious as ever as he stood before her, defending her as though by his own life. Oh, how loyal we he to stand for her in a moment of complete shock, her eyes distant and somewhat fearful, like those of a lost child as they fell upon the navy captain that faced them now, calling off his own men, whom threw them angered glances, in the heat of battle. It.. It could not possibly be him could it? And yet, everything that had occurred would have led to such. But.. He was.. Dead… She blinked, shaking her head some as she drew up a hand, placing it upon River’s shoulder, a silent order to stop his assault as she stepped aside, moving forward until she stood before Liam herself again. Not with the boy between them any longer, just captain to captain.. Fearful figures facing one another.. Yet neither one’s eyes holding a single glimmer of that hatred one could have expected. No, in fact, something close to admiration began to build within the gaze of the fearless pirate captain and, as she let her lips fall open, her loud, powerful voice breached a face that remained, somehow, softened. “Men!” She bellowed, raising a hand, though her eyes did not stray from the navy general. “Draw back, to the ship!” and she fell silent once more. Most of the pirates about were in complete shock, some appearing angered, furious even as they were forced by their loyalty to lower their weapons, scowling towards the navy folk before them as they retreated back a step or two, but most still refusing to leave their captain’s side upon this enemy ship. That would have been foolish. She would have been greatly outnumbered if this had all been a trick… then again.. Xander had never been one to fall so easily for a trick before. What made them think she would now?
“L-liam…”
Xander said, much to the surprise of those around her again as she lifted a hand, hesitantly placing it upon the side of his cheek, his skin warm beneath her fingers as they touched upon his sun kissed face. He felt… different. Time and the sea having worn down upon his features some, yet, all at once, it became bitterly clear to her, how much the both of them had grown… He… he no longer held the face of that young boy she remembered… or the build either. She pulled her hand from his face, bringing up her other and resting them upon his chest, shaking her head. “I… we… you..” she cursed “Liam… none before have been able to render me so speechless… save for you…” She spoke not like a pirate around him… even after all these years.. The words, and the slight accent of a young British girl returned. She smiled gently, ignoring her crew as she dropped her hands from him again, blinking. “So much has changed… I mean.. a captain hmm? Wow… you’ve worked your way up….”

Liam chuckled awkwardly, smiling as he rubbed his head sheepishly. The woman in front of him had changed from the young girl he remembered. Quite frankly, she worked her way up as well. Something about her eyes reminded him of something else, not just the friend he thought had died. Liam dropped his hand from his head, taking her hands in his. Her hands felt different than before… Well as different as he remembered, they seemed more harden, calloused. “Well, you’ve worked you way up too. It’s… Something… Captain Xander.” He mused, smirking at her. “Though, personally I like Captain Macaroni. It has a nice ring, a frightening tone if you will.” He chuckled, earning a small gasp from some of his crew members. They stared, openly, at the two, questioning their captain’s sanity. Each one of them looked at him oddly, and it was an unpleasant feeling to be watched by his crew while he tried to converse with an old friend. He dropped her hands, keeping the change in mind, and looked on to his crew. “You can go back to business as usual. Just keep to yourselves and keep on your toes and such.” He said, waving his hands at them, shooing at them to get to work. He looked at her crew, and then at her first mate. “Interesting crew you’ve got there Mac, but do you want to keep talking out here? We can talk in my office, and you can bring your first mate if you’d like.” He suggested, glancing at the boy and his monkey…? That must have come over with her first mate. “And you can bring the monkey too.” He said lightly, holding his hand out for her.

When his captain touched his shoulder River looked at her recieving the silent comand. Without a word the chain returned to River's hand and he caught it with ease and held it. He watched as the two talk and felt a slight pain in his chest. He didn't like how buddy buddy his captain was with this navy man. What was worst it seemed that the two knew each other from thier past. River's hand slowly clenched into a fist, somehow he felt jealous he didn't like this navy captain more and more. He also didn't like him calling her a different name, looking away he saw that some of thier men did not leave yet. River jumpped onto the railing and shouted.
"You heard our captain back to the ship all of ya! I'm here aren't, now go!!" River had an angry look in his eyes and the crew knew better than to make him even more angry. So they withdrew from the navy ship going back to thier own. River crossed his arms as he jumpped down and walked back over to his captain standing beside her and glaring at the navy captain. When the other spoke of talking to her in his cabin more anger grew in the other. But then it died down a bit when he said that River could come as well and he intended to follow even if he was not invited. He said nothing the entire time which was a strange act for the young male who was always cheery and talkitive.
We loved the sea, and it branded us with pain…

Xander grinned, nodding gently towards his comment about her crew and, sighing softly, she spoke, velvet lips falling open as words poured out, soft spoken, and with an accent unable to hide the past of a young British girl that was playing, as vivid memories through her mind now. “Well,” she said. “they took me in, I worked my way up…” She smiled. “and what about you, captain Annie Apple?” A soft wink and she continued quietly. “Now THERE is a name befitting a feared captain aye?” She laughed softly, looking towards river as he shouted towards the others of the crew that had lingered and as, gradually, they returned to their ship, hesitation and reluctance far too evident in their movement, Xander allowed herself a single nod. “Well then..” She said, clearing her throat roughly. “Lead the way captain… lets speak where we do not have navy rats peering down our backs hmm?” A few growls sounded from about them and Xander chuckled, ushering Liam forward silently, careful to sheath her weapons as she motioned river to follow behind, the three of them making their way down, towards Liam’s quarters. Her eyes scanned the walls of the ship, silently in awe of the vessel’s sheer size… indeed, it was far bigger than their own. Definitely slower, but so much bigger… it was shocking, and she wondered, as she stared towards Liam’s back, forcing down a soft smile, how she could have so simply forgotten all those years ago.. Watching ships just this size, and even bigger sailing in and out of port. She sighed, breathing in the warm air of the ship as she thought to one memory in particular, her eyes brightening with the thought.

Liam, wait!” she called, running after him, her paper pirate hat crumpled beneath he fingers that held it hard against her head. “slow down! Wait for me!!” about them, the sun flittered, blisteringly hot against the skin of her arms, free of the sleeves of the long gowns the ladies most often wore… a gown she had.. ‘altered’ to better fit her liking, much to her mothers horror. She stumbled forward, nearly tripped, steadied herself, and trotted forward again, the taller boy before her pausing, turning, and looking to her with a skeptical eye. “Xander…” He mumbled, and she closed the gap between them, giggling as she raised her hand to her forehead in a sweet salute. “First mate Xander present for duty captain!!” She opened her eyes wide, watching him, though she was forced to squint against the glow as she tilted her head up, his height making vision slightly difficult. He blinked, frowning some and shook his head. “Sorry Mac..” he said quietly. “it’s a boy day today.. Just me and the guys….” Xander’s smile faded. “Wh-what?” She said. “But you promised me… its my birthday… you… you said-” Oh.. Damn.. Sorry Macaroni.. I forgot!” There was the calling of his name and he grinned, turning and running forward, making sure to turn and wave to her as he disappeared into the distance. “I’ll make it up to you Mac!” He shouted, the young girl forcing down tears.

Sunset… and the clouds, any that had come, cleared from the sky leaving only the pristine sunset dancing, like flames, upon the flickering horizon, the sea making the entire image seem to sway as gentle waves rose and fell, licking at the ports and sending a soft spray of seawater up against the small legs of a young girl whom sat, saddened upon the wooded boards of the dock. She leaned against one of the large posts, hugging herself and a new teddy bear her mother had given her for her birthday, her eyes transfixed upon the glittering horizon, her tears having stopped a long time ago, but that saddened feeling remaining. He had forgotten about her… and still left upon being reminded… stupid boy. She sniffled, shaking her head as shadows began to play up the length of the harbor, huge ships rocking in the gently currents of the cove as they were anchored. One day… she would ride one… and perhaps Liam could be there too.. Even though he made her sad… she still loved him… he was still her Liam… “Xander!” the voice broke her from her thoughts and the girl, standing, turning rapidly, nearly toppling back into the waters if a hand hadn’t come and grasped her own, pulling her back up again. She nearly smiled, if not for her stubborn ways pushing the frown upon her face again and she looked up into the eyes of none other than Liam himself. He was grinning from ear to ear, holding her up with one hand, while the other was tucked behind his back. Xander blinked. “what are you doing here?” She grumbled and, before she could say another word, the boy pulled his hand from behind his back, lifting a small amulet upon a golden chain into the air. Upon one side, was a compass.. Beautifully crafted, and on the other side… the words.. “to Xander… love Liam…” Xander tried to frown, but only succeeding in executing a crooked smile before releasing a squeal, jumping up, onto Liam, arms wrapping about his neck as she embraced him…

And the memory faded away, Xander pushing it back as she forced herself not to tear up… her fingers lifted from their place at her side, gently running over the golden amulet upon her chest, hidden in the fold of her shirt… but always there. She had not taken it off,… once… She sighed, smiling as she continued to follow Liam down the hall.

To touch the face of the ocean...

Evelyn shuddered, forcing herself to her feet, only now, having been shocked, frozen in her seating position for what seemed like ours, widened eyes fixed upon the duo before her, and lips fallen open in clear awe. Short, light hair was plastered to her cheeks by slowly drying tears, and a long rip had soiled her gown now, much to her distress. Her mother and father would not be happy, after all, she was on one of the most important missions of her life! And first impressions are always the biggest, her wise mother had warned her. The girl whimpered, taking up the folds of her dress into her fingers as she let her pale eyes scan the cloth pathetically, forgetting all about the pirates as they slowly abandoned the navy ship again, much reluctance in their heaving, powerful steps. The young priestess swallowed, biting her lip as she let the trim of her gown fall about her feet again, please that, at least, it was all still in one long, descent piece… and not stained by her blood, thanks to Liam. She smiled gently at the thought, leaning forward and lifting her staff from the ground, holding it against her chest as she looked up to her captain, frown returning as she watched him leading the pirate leader and her first mate towards his quarters. She swallowed lightly, not much liking the idea of the captain being alone with two pirates. If this was all a trick… he would be clearly outnumbered… and was it not her duty to protect people? Was that not what she was being trained for? She swallowed, bundling up her courage as she moved forward, nodding to those men about her before she followed the lot into the hall, eyes narrowed as, gently, she reached up with her staff, tapping the first mate upon the shoulder to get his attention, hoping that he would turn her way. “Excuse me, sir,” she said, soft spoken, and yet her voice holding an air of power, taught to her through years of spell casting and lessons. It was then that her eyes moved past him, towards the monkey perched atop his shoulders. She grinned, looking towards the tiny animal and, feeling her interest piqued, she looked towards the man again. “Wow…” She said softly. “A monkey..” She laughed lightly. “I’m sorry.. I must sound a fool but… I have not seen one in real.. Only in books…” Her eyes seemed to smile now as well as she reached out, pausing again. “May I?” She asked softly. “He wont bite will he?” And, waiting for a response, she added. “I come from a different town… its not very… how would one put it… tropical?” She sighed. “they really are amazing animals aren’t they?”

While walking and leading Xander and River, Liam glanced behind himself, just to check and make sure the person he was leading was his Xander, not some imposter. But, with every word she spoke, his small doubts were tossed away, replaced with the certainty that she was real.

Liam smiled, actually coming to terms with his nickname, Annie Apple, and shaking his head at the thought of being called that at all by anyone other than Xander. His faced paled at the thought, imagining some of the more blood thristy pirates calling him that. One such like Bella Donna. That would just be down right embarrasing! Liam swallowed down his momentary embarrasment, and looked back at Xander, catching a glimspe of Eve tapping River's shoulder to ask about his monkey. Liam was a bit curious about the primate, but he could ask Xander about it later. As he turned back to lead again, keeping his eyes on the hallways, he saw from the corner of his eye, Xander touching something around her neck. 'It couldn't be that necklace could it? I would think she would wear something different... wouldn't she?' he thought to himself, thinking back on the day he gave it to her.

Liam kept running towards the guys, keeping his thoughts on the necklace he saw down in the marketplace earlier in the week. Xander's eyes were coming back to haunt him, but the sudden 'THUMP' made him forget about her for a while as he tried to stand back up. "Sheesh Liam! Watch where ya' going!" his friends called to him. He chuckled, standing up sheepishly and brushing himself off. He stood straighter, shoulders back and a mock frown on his face. "Attention crew! We've got a mission today!" he said loudly, gaining the attention of his rowdy friends. "Xander's birthday is today," he started, getting a groan from some of them, and a cat call from the others. "And,-" he got cut off by John, a boy much like himself. "And you want to get her that necklace you told us about a thousand times earlier. Sheesh Apple we know!" John said, grinning at the chance to use Xander's pet name for Liam. Liam himself blushed and grumbled under his breath, not before shooting a glare at the boy. "We'll chip in Capt. Liam! Don't worry about it!" John said with a nod to the rest of the boys. Liam smiled, a blush still light on his face as he held out his hand. "Money then folks, and then... to the marketplace!" he exclaimed, grinning broadly.

It took awhile for the boys to get to the right shop, but they eventually found it, and since the shopkeeper knew Liam's parents by name and reputation, he was actually glad to give Liam the necklace, and even engrave it for free! Liam's face shone with delight, imagining his Macaroni's face light up at the sight of her present. The guys and John wished him luck as the day turned into evening, and Liam was still very excited about his present, knowing that she would love it! If she didn't... Well how could she not?! The sun was setting and the horizon looked as if it was dancing with flames from the sun. He walked down to the docks, spotting his Macaroni sitting there with a dumb looking teddy bear, looking as if she couldn't spend her day in complete happiness. Well, it was now her Annie Apple's job to cheer her up. He called her name, hiding the necklace behind his back, while grabbing her before she fell over into the sea and ruined her dress. He held her up, still hiding the necklace behind his back when she asked him a question. Before she could get another word out, Liam presented his present: a golden necklace, a compass on one side, and his message to her on the other. He could see that she tried to be angry with him, but a crooked smile worked it's way on her face, and Liam's heart soared as she squealed and hugged him, receiveing a softer embrace back...

Liam smiled, remembering how happy she was when he gave her that necklace. "It's not everyday that you run into someone you think you've lost forever. Xander," he started, but his feet stopped infront of his cabin. He turned the knob, opening the door to his quarters and office. His desk was piled with papers that needed to be signed and mailed, as well as with wanted posters he recently received. The room was in order, with little mess except for his tossed pajama bottoms and opened closet door. His walls were painted and glazed, the wood shining from the sunlight that shone through the porthole. A map was on the wall, pins and 'X's marking were they've been and a star were they were headed. Part of the floor was carpeted, the side with his bed, and the other half was laid down with cherrywood. The bed was made, and a lone hanger laid on it. He sighed, running his hand through his hair. "Welcome to my cabin." he said, moving from the doorway to the desk.

The feeling of jealousity rose within the male's chest, River crossed his arms glaring dagger at the navy captain. Gogo looked at his friend and then to the navy captain mimicking the look upon River's face toward the navy captain. He hurrily followed his captain smiling at her when she looked at him then going back to his hate filled glare. Where was all this jealousity coming from why was River jealous in the first place. He loved his captain and wanted her to live long but he didn't like how this man was looking at her. What was worst the captain spoke differentily toward him than she did before. River didn't like it, in fact he didn't like many guys that liked or were friends with his captain. River's frown loosen as he wore a more innocent look as he was turning the wheels within his noggin. Was River in love with his captain, no that couldn't be even if he's been with her ever since she arrive on the pirate ship when his father was still there.
River groaned this was not good, now things would become strange and arkward when he gets near his captain. But even still he'd rather that than for her to be in the arms of another and he'd stop anyone that got too close. River was so wrapped in his thought he wasn't paying that much attention though that did not mean his gurad was down. In fact it was higher when he was in thought. Once in the navy man's cabin, River quickly snapped out of it and looked around making sure this was not a trap of some sort. It was not and he ended up standing close to his captain, as if they were glued to the hip he was not letting her out of his sight and was keeping a close eyes on the other. River paused a moment feeling something or someone tapping his shoulder. Tyhen cam soft speaking making the young male turn his head around and look at a woman about the same size as he was. Gogo peaked at the girl from behind River's head. He looked the girl up and down she was cute, a little roughed up, maybe from all the fighting but cute. He tilted his head a bit as she spoke to him. His jealousity seeming to melt away, as he forgot all about the navy captain. He looked at Gogo when she wanted to hold him, so without a word River lifted his hand to Gogo who got on it and head it out to the girl.
"His name is Gogo, my father gave him to me when I was very young." Finally a smile broke out upon River's once angry looking face. Gogo chirped as he jumpped onto Eve's arm and ran around it and around her torso before sitting upon her shoulder and sniffing her head.

We loved the sea, and it branded us with pain…

Xander grinned, following him slowly into his cabin, eyes searching the walls, admiring the entire of the space as she padded lightly over the floorboards in the man’s wake. His earlier words still hung gently in her mind, making a slight blush work its way into her cheeks as, slowly, she eased herself into a halt at his desk side, fingers running over the length of the wooden piece before a slight sting made her wince, eyes rushing down towards the tabletop. She pulled her finger from it rapidly, letting it touch her lips gingerly before she let a swift glance fall over it, revealing a small cut stretched over the skin… a paper cut. Tiny to say the least and, without a second thought, she wiped the small bit of blood against her pant’s turning her attention towards the bit of parchment which had assaulted her so. One of the wanted posters upon his desk, words printed clearly upon the slightly browned paper, and a faded figure pasted into the middle. It was a bad drawing, hardly like the person that the name addressed… a fabled.. Bella Donna… And Xander couldn’t help a soft laugh as she lifted the document into her slender fingers, eyes trailing lightly over it. NO, that was not the face of Bella Donna. Not at all. In fact, it was far too comical as she replaced the poster down, looking towards Liam with an almost playfully mocking stare, words not having yet breached her lips. She stepped once, twice, hardly having noticed that River’s attention had turned elsewhere as she skirted her way about the desk to where Liam had taken to, leaning against the edge, as she stopped beside him, and folding her arms over her chest. She looked to him, eyes running over his face before, suddenly, her smile faded some and she tilted her head. Her lips parted and quiet words breached them. “Liam?” she queried quietly. “what happened to your eye?” She motioned towards the eye patch, frown deepening as she recalled his childhood image. His eye had been just fine… had there been an accident? Or, perhaps, he wore it for the looks. She couldn’t help but notice, it did increase that… strength about him. She chuckled inwardly at the thought, though her visible emotions remained always concerned… the way she had always looked when he had done something stupid, or frightening enough to warrant her concern for him. This… had occurred many times when they were children.. And now, like in the past, she found herself reaching out to touch his cheek gently, keeping her fingers from the patch but just skimming he border with a feather soft touch.

((I shall write as eve a little later. Trying to get some things done over here. Hehe. And sure, I can try to make her posts a little darker hehe. Don‘t you apologize, it was a small mistake. Hehe. ))

Liam blinked, the skin under Xander's fingers tingling slightly. "Oh that." he said, rolling his eye. The eye patch had been recommending after a training exercise went wrong. He and another Captain had been sparring with the broadswords the local blacksmith had given the Navy headquarters. The whole fight went well till the end. Practiced steps taken, and movements and techniques carried through with precision. However, from all the sweat that dripped from them and the condensation forming on the floor, Liam's footing slipped and before the other Captain could stop his attack, Liam's eye caught a little piece of metal. A doctor, who was on site watching the fight, quickly bandaged him up but his eye wasn't going to be completely fixed. The damage was almost unrepairable. He couldn’t see through half of his eye. He hadn’t taken off the eye patch since this morning when he dressed himself. “It’s… a fashion statement.” Liam told her, smiling. He didn’t want her knowing that he was half blind when they just met after such a long time. “I’m trying to get others to join in the craze, or at least be known.” He said, leaning on his elbows. “But enough about my new dashing good looks.” He said chuckling, “What about you? Does your mother know you’re out gallivanting with revealing shirts and pirates?” he said, taking his time to evaluate Xander’s new look. Her hat, with its bloodied feathers, matched her look: Cold hearted and commanding. Puberty hit her like bricks and his face spread into a wide grin, admiring the fact that she was most definitely not his little Macaroni, but a grown Macaroni: older, wiser, and fully developed.
To touch the face of the ocean...

Evelyn smiled, watching the monkey as it scampered about her body, soft airy laughter resonating from her as she lifted a pale hand to brush the small animal’s pelt, gentle eyes bright as its tail twined its way about her slender finger. “He is wonderful!” she said, full heartedly as she scratched the top of its head gingerly, pale iris’ fixed upon the creature as it founds its resting place upon her shoulders, perched there in contentment as the girl returned her attention to the young man before her again, hand never ceasing its gentle touch upon the small primate seated upon her. Her smile remained, unfading as her velvet lips spread into that subtle grin, those un quavering eyes falling upon river’s gaze as she nodded in conclusion to the both of them. And she spoke, words quiet against the rumbled of the sea as it beat against the ship’s flank. “You are indeed a lucky man,” she cooed. “to have such a loyal companion…” She nodded. “Animal or not… I can see the adoration in his eyes… so evident when he looked at you.” She giggled quietly, voice feather soft on the breeze that swept gently through the corridors of the ship, smoothly tousling the priestess’ nearly white hair, the tresses dancing about her cheeks, a few caught within the folds of the veil upon her head. The gossamer linen danced in the wind, sweeping against Evelyn’s cheeks briefly, obscuring her appearance briefly before a hand was brought up, brushing it back swiftly to reveal her light, teal eyes, watching river curiously. She blinked, appearing thoughtful as her words broke, voice trailing away, and, as he head tilted ever so slightly, she reached out with her free hand, the other still stroking the monkey softly. “My name is Evelyn,” she said, nodding as she offered the boy her hand. “Evelyn Fawn of Longreef cove…” She dipped her head softly in greeting, stabilizing herself as the ship rocked very gently, her palm pressed against the wall as she stumbled a little, laughing towards herself as she tried to regain her composure. “I.. I’m sorry,” she whispered. “I suppose I’m still practicing with my sea legs.”
