Welcome to Gaia! ::

"Well, as you can see I need a companion to keep me company. We'll continue to head west to Detritus if you don't mind," he said after hearing her soft words as he heard the warmth in her voice. Seth continued walking watching the scenery of trees and rocks pass as he headed toward the mountains in the distance. Once I'm past those mountains, I'll find a new life for myself, he thought as he led the beautiful angel past the mountains and to the desert lying behind it.

((What time is it anyways?))
((Apply what you learned about time zones. If it's before mid day at Lake Bronze, then it's still gotta be dark in Welkin. I lost track of where the Welkin crew actually is over there, but they're definitely close to a mountain range.
But when you travel, make sure you realize that Ab Ovo is about the same size as Earth, if not just slightly smaller - if that's even scientifically possible, but... we're fantasy.))
[[OoC;; Of course it's possible. Not every planet is the same size. 9: I'm pretty sure Venus and Mercury are smaller than Earth, but you might want to check me on that. xD

<Waits for Darkness Master9 to post>]]
((Well, I know it's possible for planets to be smaller than Earth, I just wasn't sure if they could support life. ^__^; ))
[[OoC;; Why couldn't they? What matters is the content on the planet, not the size. xD

Maybe we should re-direct to the OoC thread? o: ]]
Rei blinked in surprise, a bit taken back. She picked him up gently, looked around to make sure noone was looking, then replied, "You can speak?" The question had an obvious answer. "If it matters to you, I'm from Shangri-la and I'm here looking for a place to call home."
She put him on her knees gently where he could sit and she could watch him. "And you are? Why do you need to know about me?" She said, her ears perking up as if to try and hear him.

------------------------------------------

"I have nothing better to do than to follow you, Sir Seth." She said simply. 'Sir' was an old habit she had from long ago. "If I may ask, why are you headed to Detritus?" She kept easy pace with him and she seemed as if she were floating. She showed great strength as she carried herself quite nobally, and no weakness could be seen in her posture.

((Sorry for the delay, friends.))
Lux gasped almost audibly, and he heard his brother do the same. The cat was talking to the demon! Lux couldn't hear it, and he didn't think Nox could, but somehow, the cat was talking to the demon. Maybe it was because the demon seemed to be of a cat breed? Or maybe the cat wasn't a cat at all!

What do you make of that, Lux? Nox asked through their silent bond. A talking cat--well, he'd have to presume so, based on the demon's words. He knew there was something odd about that cat, and his hunch was right.

I'm not sure... do you think it heard us? Maybe we should back off for now... After all, they both did gasp. And cat ears were rather keen. But should they risk leaving now, when the demons might be alert? Forwarned, they could be listening, or worse, watching, for any disturbance in the half rotted leaves underfoot.

Lux looked at his brother, who shook his head. As Lux was thinking, Nox didn't want to take the chance that the demons might hear or see them leave, especially when there were no other movements to cover their own noises, and they couldn't see specific twigs or other objects that could potentially make noise if stepped upon. We'll just have to wait...
Seth started pounding on his head muttering under his breath before replying, "Never mind Detritus we're heading east to Shangri-la." He picked up his head and watched the moon in the dark sky as he saw some creatures flying above them. "Hopefully when we reach the desert it will be night again because I rather travel at night, especially when we get passed the mountains, " he mentioned as he picked up his pace slightly as to be walking between leisurely and speed walking.
((Wolf, it's still night in Welkin. Day and night will trade off between where Sean is now compared to Lake Bronze. If you weren't implying that it was almost morning, you might want to reword that post.))

Writhing out of the girl's grip, Zinku kicked his way back to four paws on the dirt, answering her with, "Because I did, and now I don't." He trotted a little to put a few feet's distance between them, then turned around and stared at her, his ice blue eyes gleaming on his stern face. "I'm the White Demon, Zinku. And I'm not always a cat. I am a shapeshifter." His tail shifted to his other side as his ears twitched, trying to catch sounds in the wind. He still had to watch out for Mel. "I can't stay any longer, for the sake of stealth, but you'll know where to find me if you look hard enough." With another sway of his tail, Zinku rose to his feet, turned away from the demon with a bow of his head, then scampered quickly away.
Nox's eyes widened when the cat started moving toward them. It appeared to pause, and the twin saw the psychic energy shift. It turned around. So it didn't notice them.

That was close... Lux said silently, 'watching' the cat turn its attention back to the demon.

Then it turned around and started running in their direction again.

Move! Nox cried in his mind, although there was no where he could really go. He got a good grip on Lux and jumped, right as the cat passed underneath them.

Did they jump high enough, or did the cat-thing pass through Nox's bent shadows? Lux was afraid the cat made it to them before they jumped, and saw the difference in lighting--from the inside of bent shadows, everything looked duller, lacked color, as if the saturation had been decreased by half.

The twins landed softly, using the cat's movements as a sound cushion, so that their landing was barely audible. Nox didn't want to turn around to see if the cat had felt them, and he was pretty sure Lux didn't either. Uh-oh...
Zinku bolted to the alley, being the closest location to where he could transform back into a demon without any fuss from the villagers. He stopped at the edge of the alley, looked around the corner to make sure no one was coming, then retreated a short distance back into the alley to shapeshift. His lemons had run out by the time he had ducked into the darkness of the alley, so he was already strained.

As he transformed, his white fur receded from his face, some of it took the form of his clothes, and it grew longer on top of his head. His tail became black and tufted, and he allowed his wings to flow from his back as he dropped his jacket to waist level. This all took place in the period of about six seconds. Afterward, he was famished and exhausted from expending even more energy to return to normal form. "This vacation sucks." He said to himself, too tired to sense that there might be two little boys beside him, possibly cowering in fear or stunned into silence.

((Edit: I just realized Zinku's hair is not black. xD; That's been fixed.))
They had followed the cat, more intrigued by him than the demon--at least they knew what the demon was. The cat lead them down an alley, and Nox stopped his twin before they went in. He took a step back, still holding Lux's hand, when he felt the cat transform. Its psychic energies dramatically increased in size and changed shape, so that it was vaguely human. There were differences, though--a tail-like appendage and wings, for instance. In his shock, he released the shadows and they became visible again.

It was a good thing that the...demon? was facing away from the boys as they became visible, but Lux wasn't worried anymore, not about that, anyway. The demon felt exhausted, bent over in the alleyway, laboring to breathe, it seemed. Nox shared Lux's feelings, and so let him withdraw his hand from his brother's to take something from his bag. It wasn't much, just some bread that the couple that watched them packed with them so that they could go exploring. He walked forward, until he was in-line with the demon, then offered the bread, his head cocked, his eyes wide. Nox was on the other side of the demon, standing the same way as Lux, with his own loaf of bread.

"Here you go," Nox said.

"Sorry for spying," Lux added.

"We know it was bad, bad bad." Their voices were indeed full of apology, just by their tone, the words could have been unnecessary.

"We were just curious."
As soon as Zinku regained his focus, the boys were standing right in his line of sight, holding before him that which would aid in the restoration of some of his energy. Energy he could use to again hide his demonic traits and his true identity from the villagers. He looked at the boys oddly, not being one so easily tricked by his eyes, and noticed that they were not human. He took his jacket off completely, as it hampered his ability to extend his arms, then he gladly took the loaf of bread Lux was holding. He paused a moment, his thought process still lagging a bit from the lack of energy after his transformation.

"I... guess I'm glad you were around." Zinku finally admitted, subdued by his hunger, which caused his stomach to growl obnoxiously at the sight, smell, or thought of food. "Though," he continued, "this is not the... greatest of circumstances. But... thanks." He stood straighter, and took a considerably big bite of bread from the loaf he was holding. It was such a relief to have food, that he almost felt all his energy returning to him.
"He's not mad," the twins muttered simultaneously, 'looking' at each other. Lux decided that their caretakers must have been wrong, and not all demons were bad. In fact, he actually maybe almost liked this one.

It was a strange feeling, actually liking someone. Really, the only person Lux had ever cared for was his twin brother, Nox. Maybe he was being to hasty--maybe the idea of an entire world outside of his little house was more overwhelming than he thought. The demon wasn't his brother, not even his family, or his caretakers, he was an outsider. But then, so were the twins, right? Lux had never met anyone quite like them--not that he'd met many people anyway.

Nox was thinking much along the same lines as his brother. He was confused--the whole day had confused him. His life had always been boring, fourty-odd years of being in the same place could do that to a person. More than once he had found himself wishing for something to off-set his daily routine, and he had definitely found it today. He realized that though he originally didn't like all this confusion and surprise and adventure, that it kept him busy, and he definitely wasn't bored.

But now, now what to do? Should they leave? Should they stay? Should they go find the other demon?

Nox didn't have to think long, because at that moment, Lux asked, "Will you play with us?"
"Is that the exchange for bread these days?" Zinku, almost halfway through the loaf, was clearly joshing with the boys. He sincerely thought that they were the age they appeared, although he knew they were clearly not human. He couldn't tell what about them made them so unique, but he also didn't care to give it much thought. "Are you two new around here? I haven't seen you around, and you seem to be open to new things." He took another bite of the loaf he was holding, at the same time hiding his tail and wings from view. As he started on his way out of the alley, he turned to them and spoke with the slightest regret, "I suppose I have some time to share. What do you want to do?"
