Welcome to Gaia! ::

Seth looked on as she answered and blinked in surprise at her assumption. "Well I was kind of lonely. I'm running away from home. Would you travel with me?" Seth explained before asking his thought out question. At the moment he yearned for companion, even one who could read his emotions so well. "You seem a bit lonely and sad yourself," he replied as an after thought before waiting for the answer he longed for. I hope she says yes. I can't help, but ask the companionship of another who notices me.
Rei made her way to the outskirts of the town and sat under a tree. Her ears finally twitched the hood off and she made no motion to put it back on. Her tail slid out of it's hiding place and moved slowly in the cool grass.
As her eyes gazed at the mountains in the distance, she leaned back so she was laying against the tree she was under. She sat again, wondering where to go. She wanted a home, but at the same time she wanted to explore.

---------------------------------------------------------

"You seem rather trusting, even though I am a complete stranger." She said simply. "How do you know I wasn't sent to find you and bring you back?" She looked at him, but before getting his reply, she continued, "You should be less trusting of anyone who comes upon you, no matter if they look threatening or not."
She leaned on her staff, as she heard him talking about her looking sad. " I am no need of a companion and am not sad nor happy." She explained bluntly. "But you seem in dire need of a companion. If you would like I will accompany you, but I might not stay with you for your entire travel."
Seth nodded and answered, "That would be fine, but I knew you wouldn't 'take me back' especially now that I've heard your remark." Seth made air quotes as he repeated what she said. He began walking motioning her to follow as he explained. "You see...my family is chasing after because I am the heir to a great fortune. They will do anything to get the fortune and land I own. The last I saw of my house, it was burning," he said with a calm even voice.
Zinku swore under his breath, dropping his shoulders and slowly walking back to his collection of trees. He didn't bother paying attention to Mel's rambling, which included "Boy are you paranoid!" and "When did you become deaf?" The latter of which was directed at his heightened hearing.

    "Zinku!"

He spun around to meet her, face to face, and within improper personal boundaries. "I need some time to myself, Mel, so can you go worry about yourself?"

Mel was distraught, but was finished trying to negotiate with Zinku, and so left him to his devices. He was relieved, and when he dropped off his can at home, he seeked out that demon's life force with his own. When he found it, he killed that moment of ever being on the demon scanner by transforming into a small white cat. Mel would be able to notice this if he wasn't such a stealthy demon.
Name: Lux Kaiothea.

Race: Hybrid (Prominently dragon/human features).

Age: Forty-two; race qualities make him look around ten or twelve.

Appearance: Stands at around 4'8'', very lithe, very childish looking. Wide, innocent-looking, silvery eyes with deep blue-violet specks in them. No pupils--he's blind. His hair is short and scruffy, naturally a platinum blonde with pale blue-purple streaks in it. Pale skin, almost paper-white. He has blue-violet scales on the base of his neck and chest. They fade (that is, decrease in frequency and are more spread out) around his stomach area, but are still prominent on his sides and back. As the scales fade, the color fades gently from the purple back to his skin-color, so they lighten considerably as they get closer to his center. There are scales on his arms, fading as they stretch to his wrists, then disappear completely at his hands. The underside of his arms are fleshy, not scaly, and he has very thin, barely visible scales that cover the tops of his hands. The scales work in the same pattern on his legs. Lux's scales are thin and about the size of a fingernail. They're the consistency of fish scales, really.

Lux wears strange clothing, often 'cosplay' things and puts together strange combinations of clothes. Sometimes he wears tons of belts and chains, other times he wears little more than a pair of denim jeans. His clothes really vary, and don't depend on anything in particular. He tends to wear, loosely, what the situation calls for. There is no difference in how Lux and Nox look. They generally wear the same clothing, the only difference being in color. For example, Lux might wear a wild green outfit; Nox would wear the same thing, but it might be blue instead.

Bio: Lux's race is a strange one, one that isn't exactly the norm, and one that's rather looked down upon. It's not exactly known what he is, only some kind of demon/dragon/angel hybrid. There's only one other person of the same race--only one other person that he knows of anyway--and that's his twin brother, Nox.

His story starts with his mother, Ana Kaiothea a renowned run-away angel-slave from Welkin. Actually, no one knew she was an angel when she lived in Welkin, or she wouldn't have been a slave. It was only discovered when she was put under extreme pressure when the village she had run away to was attacked--her 'inner self,' if you will, was released. She sought refuge in Shangri-La, and during her travels, was raped by a demon. Because of this event, she bore twins--Lux and Nox, or "Light" and "Night". It was only because of the anomaly of these children--their blindness, their skin and hair color, and their scales--did she really want to discover who had created them. She died shortly after their birth of an illness, but not before discovering who their father was.

Aiion Krinderys was the demon responsible for the creation of Lux and Nox. Actually, he was a hybrid--his 'other half' was that of a Quetzalcoatl, a thunder dragon that is primarily silver and blue-violet in color (don't research that, it's inaccurate. xD), explaining the coloring in the twins. Originally from Praxis, the demon-dragon hybrid was cast out after attempting an assassination of a particularly high-ranking official, and failing. He trekked towards Shangri-La in hopes of finding a new home, and happened upon a stunning woman, with whom he eloped. He wouldn't call it a rape, she didn't fight. She had fallen love with him, he guessed, and didn't expect him to leave.

The Kaiothea family were in Detritus territory at the time of Ana's death, and the twins were taken in and raised by the kind people of the area. Lux grew up particularly skilled in elemental magic--primarily in lightning. He's also a skilled medic--dabbling in magic and more 'realistic' methods--and carries around a messenger bag with equipment for healing.

Faction: Detritus.

Additional Info: Lux is very child-like and naive. He's always optimistic, despite not knowing about his past. He never knew his mother or his father, and though he's very bubbly, he was always sort of detatched from the world, feeling as though he only has his brother to rely on. He's learned the ways of the people of Detritus, excelling in psychic magic. Though he is blind, it's nearly impossible to tell. He relies on his other four senses to locate things, and is able to manipulate his psychic ability to gather a general idea of how things look like. He might as well not be blind.

He and his brother share a special telepathic connection that can't be detected by any other psychic ability, and thus it can't be blocked. They've never tested it from long distances, as they've never been more than a few miles apart, but the connection has never faltered between the two.

Though he's just as bubbly as Lux, he, too, is always sort of detatched from the world, feeling as though he only has his brother to rely on. "Are you sure, I mean, do you think it's okay?" Lux asked his twin brother, who was trying to pull him out of the house. The brothers had never been outside, other than in the back, which was a big yard that was fenced in and secluded from the outside, and Nox had decided that it was time to explore. "I'm scared, brother!" They had seen their fair share of scary things, and heard much worse. Lux grasped a concept of "war" which meant lots of fighting, and he didn't want to be drawn into fighting. But... all seemed peaceful... He scratched a bit at his arm, gently, for fear of losing scales. They were both wearing fitting, long-sleeved shirts, which covered the majority of their dragon scales, except for a few peeking out at the neck and the top of their hands. Over the shirts they wore a thin open vest, and they wore a pair of scruffy pants and boots, and both of them wore two leather strips that served as belts. Lux's outfit for the day was light blue, and Nox's was dark blue.

He blinked his wide, silver eyes and ran a hand through his silvery-purple hair nervously. "Let's do it tomorrow, I'm scared."

"Don't be, Lux," Nox said, smiling. "It's alright, and we can defend each other if something happens to us. Look, it's pretty!" They couldn't really see, but they could make out the energies of the lake that Nox was pointing at now. They couldn't determine color by name, only by beauty, but the energies that the lake was giving out were a cool blueish tone, gradually deepening in color until it was almost black in the center, where the water was coldest. What they could see was the spirit of the land--the general idea, which in most cases was more glorious than the actual physical land itself.

"It is..." Lux replied. Everything was so much clearer--the smells, the sounds! He ventured a step out, hand-in-hand with his twin. "We're going out!" he heard his brother call to the old couple who had taken them in fourty years ago.

The grass felt crisp and fresh beneath his feet--though they were shod, he could feel each individual blade as though he were barefoot. He could smell the sweet scent of the flowers, the mingled jumble of smells coming from the square, and... a strange tangy smell that he'd never encountered before. Of course, that old couple had shown him all they could on their low budget--they described the names of the colors of the psychic spectrum, since that was all Lux and Nox could see, even, but they'd never shown him a lemon.

"Look, Lux, a kitty! A real one!" Nox sprinted off perpendicular to the street, his silver eyes open wide, making soft clicking sounds with his tongue to locate obstacles he might have missed in his mental scan. He dodged the curb and went behind a building, out of 'sight', although Lux would probably have been able to see him anyway. Living energy was much different than nonliving, it was much more vibrant.

"Wait, Nox, wait for me!" Lux followed, using the same method of avoiding obstacles, drawing on his elemental power to increase his speed. "Nox, don't leave me!" After all, a twin was lost without his brother. Lux followed Nox through a small alley down to a parallel street to theirs, where Nox was crouched down, petting something small and annoyed in his arms. The cat was physically white, psychically silver, and the energy emanating from it was rather irritated. "Nox... maybe you should put it down, it seems--"

"Nonsense!" Nox giggled, having never actually touched the fur of an animal before, except for a pelt of something Grandfather had brought home after hunting--but it wasn't as soft as this. He'd never come in contact with a living, breathing cat. He smiled. "You're a handsome kitty! Come feel it, it's so soft!"
Zinku had only gained a distance of a few roads before he was suddenly yanked from his comfort zone, and even more easily sent back into his defensive state of mind. In this state, he could only register a few things: he was in the form of a cat, he was no longer in his safety zone - or on the ground, and he was threatened by someone handling him rather uncomfortably. He was fully prepared to lash out at his perpetrator, claws extended and paws flailing... but then, as the boy was stroking him, he realized that he was being handled by clearly innocent hands. His muscles relaxed as he allowed the boy to pet him, hoping that he could get away quickly before the demon he was after disappears.
Lux reached out tentatively and touched the white cat on the head, but only after it had calmed down. Its psychic energies were patient... not patient, more like... waiting. Like an "after this, I've got to do that..."

"Nox, it's intelligent," Lux said, taking the cat from his brother. Holding it up by positioning his hands around its middle, under its forearms, he 'looked' the creature in the eyes, his own silvery-purple eyes wide, as if he could actually physically examine the thing. "He's processing thought, like you or me."

"That's silly, Missus London said they only focus on instinct." Nox took the cat and examined it in the exact same way, down to the position he held the it in front of him. His eyes narrowed, then widened, once he realized that his brother was right. "A free thinking cat...? That makes no sense." He frowned; he didn't like his knowledge of the world, however small that may be, being contradicted.

[[OoC; Sorry for posting so late--I don't, usually, really! I just got in trouble with my mother today, and she wouldn't let me online until she got home. u.u]]
((That's perfectly fine, since not one of us here is ever 'on time'. xD))

His tail twitched as he listened to the boys, wherever their hybrid beings originated, and still he could only think of that demon. Though, he was still tempted to taunt the two innocents, for what it was worth. Maybe they'll finally let him go, and he can get back on track before he has to get back to tracking. "Any animal can think freely! Though I must admit, I do have a problem with my instincts..." Zinku tilted his head to one side, almost appearing to be smirking. He took a moment to himself, then allowed the short hairs on the back of his neck and back to rise and make a more effective hiss, tiny teeth and all. He did not, however, make any motion to writhe out of the first boy's grip.
Nox tilted his head in unison with the cat, eyes unblinking as always. Then he looked at Lux, and an idea formed in his head.

He looked to the cat. Lux, Nox said through the twins' telepathic connection. I don't think--

--that this is a cat, Lux finished.

We should follow it, they concluded simultaneously.

This telepathic conversation occurred within three seconds, and Nox said aloud, "Well, let's go explore. I wonder if there are any other animals out here!" he put the cat down, and wandered off, Lux following closely behind. Once they were around the building, and out of the cat's line of sight, Nox drew in shadows from around him. I know you hate this, but it'll keep us safe from detection. He bent the light around his brother and himself, making them near invisible. He didn't know where he learned the trick, but even the psychic eye could barely see more than a shimmer of energy. From inside, the physical eye would see everything as though they were wearing sunglasses--everything was dimmer and less distinct.

The twins kept upwind of the cat, and watched.
A yawn escaped her lips as she stretched. She hadn't noticed it before, but she felt really tired. Her eyes closed a little as she looked out tiredly at the horizon. Her lids became heavier, but she made no move to resist. The sounds of everything around her lulled her into a sleep state as she fell into her dreams.

-----------------------------------------------------------

She obediently follows Seth, listening to his words. Empathy ran through her, which was not new to her. She mostly felt empathy, saddness, pride and anger, seemingly void of happiness. She would sometimes fake happiness just to please anyone that was sad or troubled.
"How unfortunate." She said, her voice soft and strangely warming.
Zinku watched the boys until they ran off, his ears bending back and standing up as they talked, but he watched them up to the point when they disappeared, assuming that they would no longer bother him with their sporadic and quite random activities. He didn't give much thought as to why he hadn't seen them before, because there was actually fairly decent traffic to the town from somewhere beyond the mountains in Shangri-la. Nevertheless, Zinku took off in the direction of the demon he was tracking, having a really hard time finding the signal because it had faded.
This demon is rather convincing, he thought, trying to hide their life energy from me, making me think that I'm not in dan- As he bounded over to this one tree, he slowed his pace and found that the demon he was after - and this was definitely the demon he was after - was sleeping. She just came to the village and zonked out! She makes me tired. As he came around to sniff her ears and her tail, his instinct began to feel comfortable around her, and he sat down for a time to take in the mountains breaking the smooth horizon of the East. His tail swayed back and forth as he contemplated what to do with his time. Certainly, two lemons won't hold the form of a cat for much longer.
Feeling the presence of another demon, her ears twitched and tail began to stir. She opened her eyes slowly, blinking the sleep away. "Nya~", she said softly as she stretched a little. "I really have to stop taking catnaps while in places I don't know." She chastised herself alloud.
Her mind went back to the presence, and she looked around. Her ears twitched and moved, as if trying to locate the demon with them. Something white quickly caught her eye so she looked down upon it. "Ooh~ A kitty, how cute." She cooed, reaching a hand out to stroke the cat. She noted the demonic presence coming from the cat, but payed it no heed, since it didn't seem to be hostile energy.
Nox quietly led his brother in pursuit of the cat, who did indeed seem as though it were on a mission, and neither of them thought that its mission was a hunting mission.

Hey, Nox, a demon! Lux pointed to the thing, emenating not malicious energy, but not human, either--who was apparently sleeping. The cat seemed interested too, sniffing around her and then sitting down, letting his interest wander for a time. What strange behavior! But the demon--a real demon! Lux couldn't remember the last time he saw a demon, but it was a long time ago... But demons were generally trouble makers, weren't they? He was under the impression that they meant no good.

The other twin directed his attention at the demon, then to Lux in an almost reprehending way, as if to say "Don't point at her as if she's some zoo animal; she's just like you or me." He didn't say anything, though. Nox had the feeling that their invisible facade wouldn't last much longer if they stood this close to the cat and his friend, so he and Lux retreated a ways--far enough back that their presence could be masked a little better, and their scent wouldn't be detected. What's going on, I wonder?
Zinku purred as she stroked him, but didn't move from his seat in the grass to ask for more. Instead, he asked her telepathically, "What brings you here, and where from?" His ears fell back, as if angry or wary. His tail swayed slowly behind him, waiting for an answer, that will hopefully be quick and to the point, so he could move on.
