Jason stared at the ceiling fan that whirled around and around. I'm still awake, Marnie had a nightmare that kept me from falling asleep. Why are you still awake? He wondered as he listened to the even breathing upstairs. He wondered when this night would end and the sun would rise. He always liked sunrises. Sunsets meant you made it through the day, not something that was hard to do. Making it through the day when all you wanted to do was break down wasn't hard. Faking in front of people, wearing a mask, it wasn't hard. What was hard was making it through the night, because at night is when you could feel truly alone. Every time he saw a sunrise Jason knew he'd made it through another lonely night. Although now that Marnie knew who he was, he probably wouldn't be alone again.

Ace looked down at her and blinked in surprise. He hadn't really expected her to say that. He didn't think anyone would ever say that to him. the two words rang around in his head as she kissed him, and he sighed against her lips. Liking Locke was not a good idea. But he was helpless.

When Alicia pulled away she was smiling. The tug at her heart was unexpected and set off several warning bells in her head. They were close to the edge of the woods. She could go inside her house in less than two minutes and get away. That was what she would have done any other time. But this wasn't the same as any other time. She didn't want to run and hide. Alicia wanted to stay and face these fears. So her smile never faltered and she heard herself asking, "Do you want to come into my place so I can give you back your coat? I accidentally took it with me when I ran off the first time."

Vi was on the edge of the suburbs and suddenly her eyes widened as she saw her brother standing close to their house. He was. . .kissing. A human. She stumbled away, and back to the part. Has the world gone mad? Hopelessly mad? She wondered to herself not remembering the fact that Jason could still hear her. As she reached the port she sat down and sighed. Remembering him, she answered. Uh. . .Will you accept the answer that I'm a night person? She asked.

Jason frowned at the first thoughts that flowed through his head. A world gone mad? We're all a little mad here. Was the first thing that he could think to say. He'd heard it in some movie that Marnie watched one night and it seemed appropriate. I'll accept it I suppose. Not like I know you well enough to accept another answer. As for the world gone mad, well it's a full moon. It makes people crazy. Care to share what's making you think the world has gone crazy?

Ace smiled in return as he saw her smiling, but he couldn't shake the feeling that someone was watching them. The feeling soon wore off, but he was still on guard. He looked back at her, and smiled. "My jacket? You sure you don't want to keep it?" He said with a grin.

Vi froze as Jason's voice entered her head. She cursed herself for not remembering to think her thoughts away from the pack. She was a clutz sometimes. I don't know you well enough either. And. . .well, I don't think you would like the answer about the world going crazy. She answered truthfully. She didn't like it much herself.

Honestly, Alicia would have loved to have kept the jacket. It was big and warm and had his scent. Woodsy and purely male. But she shook her head.

Ace rolled his eys and pointed to his shirt. "Does it look like I need a jacket?" Truth was, Ace hardly ever wore one. Even in winter. Call him cold, but he never felt the need to. He didn't ever really feel the cold.

Vi rose an eyebrow. Jason surprising her? Well, scratch that, anyone suceeding to surprise her was a very interesting person to her. Not many had been able to do that. My brother was kissing a human. She thought with a scrunched nose. She knew it was like being racist but, she just thought of the idea disgusting.

Jason's thoughts paused as he tried to figure out what to say to that. He could see what the problem was, humans weren't supposed to know they existed. Granted there were exceptions to that, but for the most part they weren't supposed to know. And they were especially not supposed to get into relationships with them, what happened if he attacked her? Or if they broke up, would she spill the secret to everyone? After all hell hath no fury like a woman scorned. I must admit it's troubling. What he's doing could be dangerous not only to her but the whole pack as well. I think you need to talk to him. Tell him how you feel about the relationship. You might also need to talk to the pack about what's going on. He said finally, as he listened to the even breathing upstairs. He was Marnie's protector, but he wasn't about to go and date her.

Talk about being a good sister, but Ace had to really like the girl, since she was a human. And knowing Ace he probably didn't tell the girl he was a werewolf. Why does everyone. . .well, Telle is dating a human girl. My brother is making out with one. . .Is it considered cool or something to be with a human? She thought crossing her arms. To her it really wasn't. But. . .I won't talk to Ace about it yet. Oh, that's my brother's name, by the way.

I don't know, it wasn't when I first became a werewolf. But maybe things have changed, I wouldn't date a human. To many issues for my tastes, part of a relationship is trust. If I have to keep secrets then trust is gone. I'm not willing to do that to some girl. Jason replied as he silently made a note to never join the pack no matter how desperate he got. Nor to allow Marnie to date any werewolf guys.
