}Small Town Secrets{

Common knowledge will tell you that the safest places in the world are small towns. In large cities, there always seems to be another shooting or brutal attack in the news, not to mention the many that slip through the cracks. So, it makes small towns seem so much safer to be in. In Evonnia, West Virginia, the people pride themselves on their small town, and how it lacks so many of the problems of big city life. Many people will vacation there to get away from the hustle and bustle, it is a rather delightful place to slow down and enjoy the scenery. But, what slips through the cracks in Evonnia, are all the reasons you should stay away.

It looks safe enough, doesn't it? A nice small town, isolated from the world's troubles, off in the middle of nowhere. Small, isolated cities, though, tend to be the best places for things to go bump in the night.

}Introduction{

What seems to stay out of the public's knowledge is that Evonnia has had a bit of a vampire problem ever since it was founded. It's hard to tell, but if one happened to be searching certain city archives, it might even start to look like the vampires had actually staked claim to the area first. Either way, they mostly keep to themselves, except when their typical hunger sets in. Normally, their 'donors' are found dazed at the edge of the woods in the morning, with no remembrance of the previous night. It's very rare for a victim to be killed, though sometimes people disappear for much longer than a night.

}EvonnianVampires{ ---Since, as many people notice, there are various 'accepted' varieties of vampires, one might like to know what they are dealing with if one encounters such a being. The vampires in Evonnia are nocturnal as a general rule, for the Sun burns them very easily, and makes a fair few of them feel rather queasy. They are fairly strong, and quick, but only the elders possess anything quite superhuman in those areas. Usually, Evonnian vampires are pale looking except for right after having fed. Most of them are not able to shape shift, but again, a few of the elders have that type of ability. Most of them are very perceptive and have heightened senses, which might make it seem as though they can read your mind, but they really just pick up easily on the subconscious movements and expressions of humans. If you have any other questions about the vampires, feel free to message me.

}Welcome to Evonnia{

Yes, “Welcome” indeed. “Whether you are here on vacation or a resident of the town, you will always find a friendly face here.” I would guess, though, you have to hope the company is entertaining. Cell phone signal isn't readily available, and internet just barely exists. There is one small café that has internet access and computers available, and that tends to be where most teenagers like to hang out when brought here with their families. The scenery, I will admit, is rather spectacular, but I'd advise against wandering too deeply into the woods, especially at night.

}Rules{
((I know their a pain, but we all knew they were coming))

1. I reserve the right to refuse “Twilight-esque” vampires. I took the time to lay out what the vampires in Evonnia are and aren't, so please, remember that if you choose to make a vampire character.
2. I will allow romance, but try to keep your characters hormones in check. No cybering. I don't want to read it, fellow roleplayers don't want to read it, and Gaia has rules against it.
3. I'd like this roleplay to stay at the very, very least, semi-literate. No “txt talk”, no putting your character's actions between **, and please write in prose. Your parents sent you to school for a reason, at least this is more fun. Also, a bare minimum of five to six good sentences, with good grammar.
4. I reserve the right to ban people with bad grammar. If you really can't help it, type your post in Microsoft Word first. It'll help you out.
5. PM the profiles to me, with your character's name and species in the subject.
6. No unreasonable powers for the vampires, since I did describe what they could and couldn't do. For the humans, no unreasonable amount of weaponry. I understand having a pocket knife, but your character cannot just pull an Uzi out of thin air. Use common sense.
7. I'd like to keep OoC posting to a minimum here. If the need arises, an OoC thread will be created.
8. Make your posts at least a little attractive. Color coding is your friend, especially if you have multiple characters (3 maximum). Also, putting your character's name above their post is very useful. If you feel like doing more, just don't stretch the page or overload on pictures. Not everyone has internet access that runs at the speed on light.
9. No killing a person's character without permission from that person, and please send me a pm so i know that character is about to die.
10. Ask me if you'd like to play a vampire slayer.
11. Ask me about the "Other" Category of character if you are interested. Be prepared to impress me as much as possible with your profile.
12. I will add rules as I see fit. Mostly, if you rely on your common sense, we shouldn't have too many problems.
13. Don't forget to have fun, enjoy yourself, and be courteous to your other roleplayers when speaking out of character.

In the lazy afternoon, the sun hung a little low in the sky, casting shadows on the streets of Evonnia. People strolled along without a care in the world, a tour guide led a small group along the historic district, teens crowded around the internet café, and everything seemed rather peaceful. The wind blew almost playfully, tossling hair, ruffling skirts and shirts, and keeping the temperature very comfortable. It was a picturesque perfect day, maybe not quite as crowded with tourists as usual since it was after a holiday weekend, but still, there were the few out-of-towners who stuck around after the fourth of July crowd headed for home. To some, it might seem like something wasn't quite right about the place, but most were too lost in their own worlds to really notice the big picture. That's how things usually were in Evonnia. People always seemed to lose themselves in the surreality.

In moonlit forests I wonder to the soft sound of the moon. The lightest of songs playing through the trees as the breeze rustles their leaves. Listen... Listen... Listen to the music of the wind. Listen to the sound of the world as the goddess moon shines down upon it. Watch...Watch...Watch the willow sway and dance to the melody. Join with nature in the music of the night.

~<3 HELENA ASHELAN CRISSIS~<3

Hela looked out the window of the old ford hatchback pickup truck her mother drove; the world passing by her. The world seemed to grow in beauty the closer to the destination they got. The trees filled out the landscape, the hills rising and becoming mountains, the sky a soft blue as a few fluffy clouds slowly sailed on the breeze. Hela wished it was raining more then anything at the moment. It would make the perfect first day in the town of Evonnia, even just a light cloud cover would make her happy.

The truck pulled onto the small main road of the town Hela was sure she could see the entire town from down the road but her mother assured her it wasn't that small. Her mother had somehow got it stuck in her head that Hela didn't want to move here and that she would be depressed to be away from the large cities she grew up in. The truth was the complete opposite, Hela didn't really like the big cities. To much noise there, where as here she would be able to have some peace at least that's what she hoped.

As the rusted truck pulled through the small streets Hela looked at each face, each building, and at each sign. She wanted to memorize her new surroundings as fast as possible. The truck pulled into the drive way of a rather nice one story house; it was a pale almost cream color and had a red-orange trim around the windows. The front yard had a large oak tree in it and a small stone bench underneath that. Hela stepped out of the car grabbing her bag from the back seat as he mother walked to unlock the door. "Home sweet home." Hela's voice was little more then a whisper as always as she walked to the front door where a small wooden bear sat holding a sign. The sign was a simple WELCOME but it had been with Hel and her mother as long as either could remember.

It took little time to get her important things put away and the few left over boxes against her far wall. She left the small room with it's picture window and flourish wallpaper heading down to the kitchen. "Mom, I'm going to go for a walk I'll be back soon." Hel waited by the front door for her mothers reply."Okay sweet heart. Have fun." Hel smiled and walked out the door closing it tightly behind her. Even though it was a slightly warm day Hela still had her favorite coat on over her turtle neck, skirt, and slacks. It was her own style; she had dressed like this since she was little. Hel headed down the streets back towards the main part of the town in hopes to get to the forest for a nice long walk in nature.

Lady Mariana Brouquette

Deep in the woods that surrounded Evonnia, an old estate stood in solitude. The oddly placed, sprawling manor could easily have been as much as two hundred years old. Despite it's faded and dilapidated outer appearance, it was an impressive sight to behold. One would be surprised by the appearance of it, for it's architecture seemed overly grand for something that would be off in the woods and isolated. A large veranda surrounded the bottom floor, and for now, it was empty. A porch swing that seemed a slight bit newer creaked as it gently swayed with the summer breeze, just hinting at the life that the manor truly contained. Another clue would be the heavy drapes that shut out the green-filtered sunlight that was shining through the trees.

Four stories up, on the top floor, someone was stirring, as was her usual manner in the late afternoon. She shifted her brown hair back over one shoulder as she wandered back and forth in her room, looking to the massive bookshelves that lined the walls of her room, and the volumes that the shelves held. Lady Mariana had awoken later than she meant, and she was having trouble finding the book she was looking for. Her displeasure became obvious on her face, and when she heard a knock on her door, her expression became extremely annoyed. A few quick steps brought the woman to the heavy door, which she flung open easily. “What do you want?” She half snarled at the younger vampire who'd knocked. He jumped back slightly, but regained his composure, for the most part, as he looked up at the matriarch. “I just thought you should know....that when I went to check on Miss Josselynne, she wasn't in her room....I-i...I think she's gone into town again,” He stuttered out, taking another step back, expecting a rather unhappy reaction from the woman.

Mariana's face went blank for a moment, as if she was unsure of how exactly she wanted to react. “Now, my dear,” She started, a dark smile spreading on her lips. “Had I not told you to keep an eye on her? She's been wandering off too frequently, and has been getting very, very ill,” Her tone had a mother's concern, but the woman's expression was turning cruel. She snatched the vampire by his hair and pulled him downwards, angry orbs staring at him intensely. “The next time I tell you to watch her, you best not let her run off,” Mariana snarled, before letting him drop to the floor. Then, her door slammed shut.

The elder sat down in her large reading chair, sighing a bit, her eyes glancing to her window. Her adopted daughter had been more of a handful than ever in that last few months, and the immature vampire was becoming more and more reckless. Now, not only did she bring her meals back to the castle, but she was spending time in the sunlight. Just last week, Josselynne had stumbled back to the manor, and completely collapsed on the front porch. She'd laid there for three hours before anyone realized she was out there. The sun was especially toxic to the youngling, Lady Mariana was not entirely sure why, but that didn't mean the fact could be ignored. But, for now, all she could really do is wait for the girl to return home.

~Rosanna Alessia Van Davreis~

Rosanna walked through the streets of Evonnia on her way to the only cafe in town. She was humming a tune, considering she did not dare to take her cassette player with her. There were tourists around, and she didn't feel like filing at the police station for a stolen cassette player. Simply, there was just a lot of things on her mind.

Arriving at the cafe, she ordered an Iced Latte with pumpkin and cinnamon spices blended inside her drink. Walking over to her favorite spot by the window, she sat down opening her book Catch 22, and began reading.

She knew that the tourists were staring at her. They always stared. They always complimented her on her good looks and perfect skin. They annoyed her to a point. She has yet to meet one tourist who did not compliment her. Usual as always, she sighed, thinking to herself and going back to her book.

Josselynne Alzbeta Brouquette

The sign above the café's entrance said 'Internet Bites'. Sure, it was a silly name, but it was still one of the only places in town with access to the outside world. There were a few computers for public use, but most of the patrons brought their own laptops and disappeared into their digital worlds. It was a place that probably wouldn't ever sell any food if they didn't require internet users to buy something so they could be allowed to connect to the modem. In a corner, sipping at a bottle of Dr. Pepper, a young woman watched the tourists, and a few of the people she saw here regularly that she was very sure lived somewhere in town. Sometimes, people looked at her, but no one seemed to think anything of her, other than she was a bit odd. There was a journal sitting open in her lap that she sometimes wrote a few lines down in, but mostly she was doodling in the margins.

Her mind was wandering quite a bit from her boredom. It seemed like there was no one to catch her interest today. She had a feeling that she should be heading home, but getting to town had been a problem in the first place, and honestly, she was still feeling rather weak. So, the girl had decided she'd at least wait till after sunset before she left. 'Mariana will get over it,' She thought, a small smirk appearing on her lips. Driving her 'mother' crazy had become her favorite past time as of late. Of course, Josselynne had a habit of driving the entire coven insane, but what could they really do about it? She's a seventy-five year old teenager, with an eternity ahead of her. The vampire girl might as well be the female Peter Pan, because she never really had to grow up.

=I think I need a sunrise, I'm tired of the sunset=

It had been maybe ten minutes of walking when Hela past the cafe. She had no interest in going to a cyber cafe, that was too much electronics for her. She simply walked past glancing in the window briefly "Internet Bites." was what the sign read and Hela found this to be a rather silly name. She ignored it and kept trodging along her tall brown boots made a slight thumping sound against the side walk.

Hela was quiet not a noise came from her as she walked her breathing almost silent and her footsteps quietly matched her heart beat. She loved to walk but she couldn't help but wish for rain or even for the sun to go down. The moon was her favorite thing and what had made her most want to move here. She figured she would be able to see it clearly and the lightly of it shinning through the trees was going to be lovely. Hela walked along the sidewalks until she saw what she had been looking for, a small field that led to the forest.

Hela made it in the forest rather quickly and she had no reserves about going in as deep as she could. She wasn't worried in the least of getting lost and the breeze rustled the trees with an inviting call. Hela walked on her feet falling on the soft ground while she looked about her not really caring where she went or when she went home. "Beautiful." Hela seemed to whisper that to the trees themselves as though complimenting the tower sentinels. Who in their right mind could not love the trees and the forest life it was as close to nature as you could get. In her opinion it was also the most beautiful and breath taking thing ever.
