I can serve up two things. A good martini, and a bullet for all sizes of skulls.
<==============================>

Ziegfield let out a mental sigh as the situation was properly defused. The last thing he wanted to do was to call the Guard or the Police for anything involving his shop, but the last thing he wanted was for the bar that he paid half of it for to go to ruin and to have Ziggy complain to him that he couldn't handle such a simple thing as a bar scuffle, elect or not. Ziggy...liked to think that the whole problem with Elects and humans didn't exist, or rather he stayed as far from it as possible. Picking sides was always a terrible choice, he said, because when you picked one side over the other, the side that you didn't pick usually had a stiletto knife ready to explore what it was like to be between your ribs when you walked down an alley.

Zieg couldn't help but mentally agree with the rather cowardly friend of his, even if his ideas were more for monetary gain more than anything. Listening to the guard help further diffuse the situation and introducing himself as Climt, Zieg couldn't help but mentally go off the rules of drinking in a bar when Climt mentioned them, but let it slide as different people had different rules and Zieg's number one rule was that if you couldn't afford to tip, then you couldn't afford to be in a bar. Thankfully, this wouldn't be an issue as both men had paid for their drinks and left enough of a tip that wouldn't have Zieg consider to water down their next drink if they came back.

It did not escape Zieg's notice when Climt had decided to leave the moment his next patron entered the bar, and Nathan had left sometime after the Guard had left. Zieg would have to consider buying a drink to one of his old guard buddies to find out what was happening tonight, but other than that it did not seem to be much of an issue as he went to cleaning both of the glasses that his patrons had left behind.

As usual, Zieg took his leisurely time cleaning and taking care of his glasses so that they would be in great condition for the next patrons to use, though it was highly doubtful anyone would come in this late at night if things had been this slow. If Zieg was lucky, he could pull out one of the more portable television sets and catch a bit of late night television before he closed up shop a bit earlier than intended. Already, the drunks that had been talking about a Elect Rebellion meeting were starting to clear out, leaving just Zieg and the newest patron who he had yet to get an order of any kind from.

"Welcome, sir. It's a pleasure to have you tonight at the Heavenly Nights Bar. Feel free to select a drink from our menu, or one of the foods that we do supply here," he greeted the new patron after a few moments later, ready to get even the simplest of glasses if needed. He had no appointments at the moment for his other deals, so if anyone would wish to purchase anything, not only would they have to ask for Grumman, the name the underworld knew Zieg by, but the man would have to be very convincing in order for him to supply any sort of technology, or weaponry. As always, information was free so long as it did not breach any person's privacy. That would cost something.

Detective Inspector Thomas Raines

User Image

Thomas didn't want to spend too long standing outside the cafe. He was well aware that a tall, middle-aged man in a long black trench-coat smoking didn't exactly make a place look more inviting. He took a long drag on the cigarette, allowing it to burn all the way down until it was about three-quarters done before dropping it on the ground and crushing it under his boot.

He exhaled slowly, allowing the smoke filling his lungs and mouth to flow out of him and form a small cloud in front of his face. It would kill him eventually, but so would everything else. As long as Lung Cancer was gracious enough to allow him time to do what he needed to do, he would be more than fine with whatever it wanted to do with him after that.

He let out a gentle sigh after he was finished and decided that he did want coffee after all. The cigarette wasn't enough to get rid of the foul taste of murder. Despite being self-defence, the boy whose life he cut short was another victim of this existence. Everyone was.

He couldn't brood for too long, though, as one of his colleagues approached. She seemed stressed for some reason. From what he knew about Carmen, only a hand full of things could make her seem that anxious. He didn't smile back, he simply nodded to her and threw out his conjecture, making sure to keep it as a low murmur.
"Guards give you trouble?" He was very good at working things out like that, it was probably the reason why he was acclaimed as a good detective. People were easy for him to read, even those with superhuman abilities. In some ways, those made them more predictable.

He nodded again and opened the door, expecting her to follow after him.
"I certainly am. Rough evening." He wasn't usually very personable with other members of the police force. It was hard to know who to trust or not when on the sort of path that Raines was treading. At lot of the lower ranks naively thought of Vex as a positive force, or simply followed him out of blind obedience. Dogs of despotism, rather than dogs of the law.

He made his way over to the counter, placing a smattering of change upon it and glancing at the girl behind it. She seemed nervous, but that was pretty much the default mental state of Salem's populace, everybody was on edge. He took a short moment to inspect the young girl, and it didn't take much for him to decide that she was an Elect. He had a natural habit of being able to intuitively tell when someone was one. It was most likely due to working with them for so many years.

"One black coffee." He glanced back at Carmen. "And a tea, too. Please." He paused for a moment before correcting himself.
"Actually, put a very small drop of milk in the coffee." Sue always insisted that he had at least that much, as she thought pure black coffee was 'icky'. Thinking about it, this girl that was behind the desk reminded him a little of her. He couldn't help but flicker a very small, solemn, smile.
"Thanks."

l o c a t i o n : Confection's Cafe
m o o d / t h o u g h t s : A little mellow, still on edge though.
w i t h : Delilah, Dr. Vandel, D.I. Raines, Officer Nilkuha

Nodding at Thomas, Alisa went over and began readying their order. She took a moment to glance at the woman who came in with him, it was rather apparent that they were both cops. They were not the unusual clientele at this time of the night, but the fact that they came in peacefully put her mind at some ease.

She placed the tea in front of Carmen, then went back and grabbed the coffee for Thomas, and as she put it out for him and he took it, there was a moment where he unintentionally touched her hand, and an image flashed in her mind's eye. It was a man and a girl... namely, the man at the counter in front of her... and it was only for a second, then it vanished. Her hand pulled away from his a bit faster than what was normal, and a wave of panic washed over her.

"Oh! S-sorry, you're hands are cold... it surprised me. Must be cold outside, tonight." Alisa gave a small smile in response, before eyeing the change. She waved her hand at it softly. "Don't worry about that... it seems like you had a rough night... The coffee will help warm you up." Who was that girl she saw, his daughter? She looked young, and they both looked happy. Maybe she was the light in his life.... he looked pretty glum, though. A rough night could do that to a person, she suspected. Then her thoughts came back out of her head.

Had he seen the vision, too?

It was hard to tell, since she did it so little. She didn't like experimenting with it, especially with how antsy she is about everything around her. Alisa did her best to make herself appear as calm as possible, despite her insides whirling in fear. To pull herself away a bit from the awkward encounter, she grabbed her mug and practically buried her face in it. It was stupid of her to hope that maybe he didn't notice anything, but she hoped more that if he did he would say nothing.

Karth only smiled at Delilah's kind words, as she seemed like the only person that could cheer him up at the moment. Alisa could of done the same as well with her sweet innocent looking smile but something about Delilah's lips attracted Karth even more to her. "Yeah, you are right Delilah. We cannot just let this get to us. We have to manage the best we can..." He took one long last sip of coffee before finishing. "...and only pray things get better from here on out. We do have each other, right?" He press the center of his black rimmed specials in front of his eyes before giving the sweet hostess a nice smile the pushing forth the empty coffee cup to her, telling Delilah that she wanted another cup. "Thank you for the coffee by the way. You do a great job at making it as always. I can never get the recipe or the method to brew it right at home." He gave s short chuckle before they talked more about the music store "Can't say I haven't been there myself. But yes we should all visit that palace some time." And with that being said Karth gave a nod before looking back behind his seat and out the window.

He too saw these people outside the shop and was quick to reply to Delilah's inquiry, his gaze on them very fixed. "Will find out soon enough." And as Karth finished speaking, he could hear the bells of the door ring as he saw both of them enter the cafe. Judging from their clothes and the way they carried themselves, the two looked to be law enforcement officials.Karth was going to find out soon enough that he was not far from the truth.

Alisa was quick to attend to their needs, fixing some coffee and milk the the gentleman and tea for the lady. He could already tell from the cop's words that he too had experienced something very morbid and the lady next to him looked like she was feeling frazzled. Alisa seemed to try her best by brightening up the mood a bit, but Karth knew well this wasn't going to happen anytime soon. So he did his best to adresss the newcomers, at the very least the middle-aged cop and the doctor did seem to share something in common. "Looks like you have see your share of death yourself, am I right?" Karth spoke clearly as he adjusted his glasses to get a better look at the two, but his attention was towards the detective with the dark coat. "And it doesn't look like will be get any sleep tonight." Karth was still wearing his usual white labcoat and ID badge on him, already showing he was from Salem General, he must of forgotten to take the ID on him off before he left the hospital. He was for sure going to do that if he was going to travel anywhere outside the cafe.

People are funny creatures. As the generations pass, the mind-set of various nations change and the majority wants different things. The fashion trends varied on "the look" and people adapted to the media. Joanna's mind was very heavily saturated with thoughts of people at the given time. The words this woman spewed marred and shaped Joanna's perspective and all the while she couldn't help but grip her ball-point pen. The pen, be it an anomaly of a factory from China or simply one of a good brand-name, did not break under the pressure of Joanna's self-medicating restraint. Her temper flared up like a nasty case of the hives. There was a very noticeable quality about this woman that fed her fires as if it, (whatever it may have been,) was intentionally there for the sole purpose of attempting to piss her off. Whether this was a bright idea from Vex or otherwise, remains to be seen.
"So! ...You are a political figure-head along side the esteemed man in power? Nice, nice... very interesting." She said with a servant's smile and a tone as casual as if she were still just a waitress at their table.
Her blood was beginning to boil and there was a powerful rage well-hidden behind her cheerful, squinting eye. The waitress gave an enthusiastic nod to her water-drinking companion, skillfully clicked her pen into place with a twitch of her thumb and rounded on Kairyn again. To gaze upon her companion was refreshing for the woman's hot-headed temper.
"Well, wish you luck with taking care of your secret business... must be hard work... keepin' our streets safe." She nodded again approvingly and felt a small change in her happy exterior.
There were people at the other table that she waited on who were looking around impatiently for the waitress that helped them, obviously so that they could pay for the meal and be on their way. As she was standing there waiting for the woman to say her last, there were other more important customers that required her attention. This attentive delay as their servant would decrease the probability of a good tip... DUN DUN DUN~ The barrier weakened and it fail to save Kairyn from hearing a snappy attitude in her voice. Naturally, it was something all people had, but not something that should have been present in the appealing tone of an employee.
"It seems like you can't really make up your mind right now... but you can read, I'll give you that much." Joanna was indirectly referring to the name tag that she wore. "Right now my weapons are—this—little note pad and—this—little pen." Joanna twiddled the pen in her fingers. "The only information that we should be exchanging is what you want to eat from this lil' ol' menu—here—see?"
She pointed out the appetizing pictures on the menu with her pen and nodded her head, smiling, as if they came to an understanding and the world was just peachy-keen. It was also becoming blatantly obvious that beneath that layer of "May I take your order?" there were a good two or three layers of "Psycho" that threatened to rear it's ugly head in her direction. Joanna, being the stubborn b***h that she was, neither confirmed nor denied anything. She approved of Vex's ways and even applauded them, but she never worked for him... at least, not to her "immediate" knowledge.

It seemed that Inspector was able to figure out Carmen's emotions at a glance, and it was true that he had the uncanny ability of piecing together small details to reveal fact... even through Carmen's small smile, her upright posture, and her steady hands (which were clasped behind her back). He was probably one of the few people who could do that with her, as she certainly didn't wear her emotions out on her sleeve. As long as she wore the uniform that associated her with the police force, she would not show anxiety, even though her mind may be with it. "Yes," she replied simply to Raines, looking to the cafe door. Inside she could see a tall man with black hair, a cute young girl at the counter, and an older girl with blonde hair and a blue top. Carmen wasn't surprised that Guards would be Inspector's guess as to what bothered her a few minutes ago. "They've been as determined as usual..." she continued. "Your work has been hectic lately, Inspector. I hope you've been getting enough rest." Most people she worked with could do with a little more rest, considering the dangers that they faced every day.

"Thank you." She followed after him as he opened the door for her, hearing the tinkling of the door bells and feeling the warmth of the room. She went up to the counter next to him, flicking out her small wallet and placing some change on the table. "Good day," Carmen greeted to the room in general, though mostly directed at the cashier girl. The young girl with wide dark eyes quickly put a steaming cup of hot tea in front of Carmen, which she accepted gracefully. "Thank you," she said lightly, nodding her head forward an inch and taking the cup.

Carmen took a sip of the beverage, sighing in content and feeling the warmth seep into her cold fingers from the cup. The room was a bit quiet as the members of the cafe took notice of them. Carmen watched as the bakery assistant's gaze seemed to linger on Inspector for a moment, as if she knew him... then withdrew quickly, diverting attention in a mug. Carmen's eyes went from the assistant to the dark-haired man, who was dressed in a lab coat with a clearly visible ID badge. He had an air of intelligence that Carmen associated immediately with "doctor."
'Salem Hospital...' was what Carmen thought. The medic spoke up just then, making a statement about death that immediately sounded... well, extremely pessimistic. Unusual considering where they were, but nothing blown out of the world and most likely meant to be rhetorical. He followed up with something about not sleeping, but Carmen's mind was still stuck on his first. Share of death... coming from a doctor (or medical personnel), it made Carmen wonder if the man had just had his own share of death. "Well, not if we can help it," Carmen replied neutrally, smiling at him ease the tone in the room. "But it's nice to have a cafe open at night for night dwellers." She raised her cup slightly as if to toast them, but then drank from it. Her eyes flickered to the blonde woman, who hadn't spoken yet. "Business been doing good?" she asked. As this was not the first time she had entered the cafe, Carmen recognized the woman a bit... she had seen her around a lot. Maybe she was the owner or manager.

Cassandra June Marchesi
Location: Outside Confections Cafe ♪ With: No one ♪ Action: Being a Loon

Cass felt a wave of exhaustion crash over her. Knees wobbled and gave way, she caught herself on the table before she collapsed. The Coke fell on the floor and the brown liquid puddled around her feet. She could feel it, her power had gone out of control again. This time, however, was different. Usually it just effected her, but tonight it had been the whole club. She had never consciously tried to effect so many people at once.

A horrible thought occurred to her. What if this wasn't the first time? What if she had been messing with people's perception of time for days? Weeks? Months? This was not how you avoided attention.

Cass's mouth went dry. Her heart was racing, it felt like it was going to beat right out of her chest. She couldn't breath. Time slowed to a stop for her until everyone appeared to be standing still. Her power overactive with the amount of adrenaline her brain was pumping out. Cass bolted from the club to the street, trying to gasp for air and normalize her time perception. Her stomach was nauseous and it felt like a member of the guard was lurking around every corner.

It's not paranoia if they're out to get you. Two patrol men came round the corner with a tracking device. Already panicked, the sound of the detector going off sent her further into her hysteria. For the first time that night, Cass used her powers on purpose, speeding up their time perception until they saw hours as seconds. They stopped moving mid-stride. The DJ stood there and stared back at them. The concentrated effort had helped alleviate the anxiety attack but she was still nervous.

Cass walked up to the guards and gently took the tracking device out of their hands. She began fiddling with the knobs and buttons watching the lights on the screen. Sounds emitted from the machine, she was fascinated and completely forgot about what had just happened. Wandering around a little she was able to determine which light indicated her position. It was engrossing to see it move in tandem with her walking and Cass started wandering the street, watching the dot wander the screen at the same time.

As she traveled the streets, her subconscious kicked in. Her feet brought her outside the Confections Cafe, where a second dot appeared on her screen. Cass stood across the street and stared at the window. Looking into the cafe she saw a number of people and a few faces she recognized, Delilah, Ally and the doctor Ally sometimes talked about. Cass looked down at her new toy. And then back at the Cafe. The second dot was exactly where Ally was standing.

Shocked, Cass looked at the detector again and fiddled with the dials again. Ally's dot did not disappear. It had always been a possibility Ally would develop powers, but she had never said anything. Unsure what to do with this new information, Cass continued staring in the window watching her sister and bit her lip. Should she tell Ally she knew?

Ayano looked upon Cassiel feeling her mood drop after hearing everything he had to say. Yes, the situation of them meeting like this, should of played out differently... a lot differently especially with the temper Ayano had, she spat fire, literally. The fact that he was bringing up such painful memories for both of them made it hard for her to mask how she truly felt about the situation. "Let's finish this conversation inside." Her voice was firm, nor angry or sad.

She led him to the basement of the Library (a place she had been many times before) stopping before entering the room where the elect meeting was being held. Ayano's turned around to face Cassiel, he had grown a lot since there last encounter. He was no longer a boy. "I was mad at you, no, furious. Yes, I think that's the appropriate word." There was a certain sharpness to her voice almost like an older sister scolding a younger brother. "You left when we needed you the most. I used to think about what I would say to you when and if I ever saw you again." She shook her head almost laughing at the anger she had built up over the years for him. "As the years passed when we didn't hear from you I began to wonder where you were. I couldn't help but think that Vex had caught you....or....or even killed you!"

Ayano paused taking in a breath to calm herself down and glanced into the room where the meeting was being held turning her back to Cassiel. "But now that I see you.... all I feel is relived that you are safe." Her voice sounded cheerful again. "I've pretty much been on my own and seeing someone from my past has put me in a better mood. It seems as though everyone around me has been dying and there's nothing I can do to stop it." She turned placing a gentle hand on Cassiel's shoulder. "I know we stand for different causes and I know that my life isn't the life you want. But you were the closest thing that I have to family from my past. I missed you." Ayano admitted openly tucking a lose strain of hair back behind her ear. "Although we live different lives doesn't mean we can't keep in touch." With than being said she reached into her bag and grabbed a business card and placed in Cassiel's hand. "Please call me, if you need anything. And if you change your mind, you know where to find me."

Ayano moved toward the door and stepped into the elect meeting. She smiled seeing her good friend Ariadnae at the head leading the rebels. From the looks of it, it seemed as though an elect was already causing her to stress. That was normally how these meetings went. It was a pretty decent turn out Ayano glanced around the ground seeing some similar faces along with a few new comers. Without making to much of a scene from attending the meeting late, she quickly waved to Ariadnea and took a seat in the back.

It would be an honor to help her lead this mission. A lot of the plans that they had made in the past had felt through the cracks and Ayano was determined to not let it happen this time. Infiltrating Vex's fort would be extremely dangerous. How many elects would they lose in the struggle? What would happen if everything went badly? How could she live with herself if the mission failed and everyone who risked their lives to take part in this plan died? Could they be held accountable? All these thoughts rushed through her head, but regardless of what was at stake she wanted to partake it this.

An eye for an eye and the whole world goes blind

Eaon was lost in the music, the feeling of the rythym flowing through her body, she couldn't even feel the temporal fluctuations anymore. She just realized it then that she really couldn't feel them. She looked around the room, as she squirmed around in the mass of bodies, and couldn't really tell that much had changed, though the Dj was missing. She squeezed her way out of the crowd, she was tired of getting gropped, and made her way to bar. She ordered herself another drink and procede to drink it, feeling slightly annoyed that she missed such an interesting elect.

Hey baby, wanna go somewhere interesting," came a voice from behind her. She frowned and looked over at the guy, he was a lanky teenager, gods she hated that age. She turned to face him and gave him a toothy, inviting smile, "And what is it you want to do at this interesting place?," she asked, her voice low and seductive. He suddenly blushed and seemed to falter in his prepared flirting, he looked back at his friends for support, "What's wrong?," she asked fluttering her eyelids, this boy was getting too flustered to continue, "Is this the first time you've done this? How about you come when you grow a little backbone." She chuckled lightly as the boy walked away, that was fun, she thought as she grabbed her bag left.

She stood out in the cool night air and sighed, she was really looking forward to having some fun tonight, but that boy just put her off of it. She started walking home and noticed, as she walked past the back alley, two patrol guards looking rather confused and chuckled lightly to herself. She took out a joint and lit up, she was aleast going to spend the rest of the evening high if she wasn't going to get any sex.

She was just causlly walking along the sidewalk, feeling extremely buzzed, but stopped when she was a block away from Confections Cafe. No ******** way, she thought, squinting to make sure it wasn't just her mind playing tricks on her, Vex is standing there in the middle of the ******** street. She reached for a weapon that she then realized wasn't there. "s**t!" she muttered and took a side alley, she was not in any way capable of fighting at the moment, "That b*****d gets to live another day." She suddenly started feeling extremely paranoid, What a way to kill a buzz, she thought as walked past the back entrance to Confections Cafe.

Another thought occured to her at this point, Wasn't I supposed to be doing something else tonight?

I guess then the goal is blind the rest of the world first.

Delilah nodded as Karth spoke and couldn't help but smile as he complimented her coffee. "Why thank you. I would never think of giving you anything but the best, of course." She said with a quiet laugh as she got up and refilled his mug before sliding it back over to his side. Taking a seat once more she leaned the side of her head into the palm of her hand as she propped her arm up on the table and watched him carefully. She always enjoyed having Karth's company at the cafe. It gave her someone to talk honestly to without worry of being reprimanded or judged based on her thoughts of Salem and it's ruler. He was one of the few she felt she was able to speak openly to. Just then the sound of the door opening caught her attention and Delilah's gaze drifted over to the two who had been standing out in front of the shop. Seems they had decided to come in after all. Well, the more the merrier, in Delilah's opinion.

As Alisa began to serve the two customers Delilah watched her with little worry. Until that is, she made an odd display of jerking her hands away from the man. It was odd.... but nothing that worried her. As Alisa explained it was due to his hands being cold a grin formed across Delilah's face and she gently shook her head. Sometimes Alisa was just downright adorable. Looking back to Karth and the other man, she waited to see where their conversation would go until the woman who had come with him spoke up. Bringing her attention to the woman she gave her a soft smile and nodded politely before answering. "Yes very much so. Lately we've been getting a lot of people more and more often especially around the time the afternoon. Though when night comes around the crowd dies down as you can see. Early mornings and afternoons are our busiest times. But it's always nice to see the variety of different people who come to visit."

The guard was not dicking around with Crown. The backup Climt received was one of the more elite suppression teams rather than a group of patrol men thrown together. These men represented some of the best humans and elects under Vex. Climt recognized the suppression team's captain, Daniel North, another elect in the guard with the power to control and generate electricity. They had been through training together and sometimes went drinking together off duty.

"What's the situation, Climt?"

"Crown's in Heavenly Nights, hasn't come out. At least the front door. For a rumor I thought the hunt would be longer, but guy just walks into bar. It's like a bad joke." He chuckled lightly, "Anyways, his file said he's got the power to manipulate dark matter and uses it as an explosive. Took out a whole damn warehouse earlier tonight."

"Heard about that. Too bad for the rebels they're so disorganized or they might actually be a threat."

"Power never was a substitution for brains. Speaking of which, picked up some intel on a rebel meeting tonight while tracking Crown. I've got orders not to engage. If you've got this, I'll head over and check it out."

"This is why you never get to fight, Climt. The guard has a glut of bruisers and not enough thinkers. We gotta protect you like the special little flower you are." North flashed a grin.

"Shut up. I don't like being kept out of the action anymore than you do." Climt punched his buddy's arm.

"Yeah, yeah. We got this covered. Go do your make-up for your little rebel party."

"Try not to think too hard. You're no good at it." Climt slipped away into the ally. He could hear North directing the men behind him.

"Alright boys, we've got a real ******** on our hands. I want teams of two surrounding the building. You watch your partner's back and keep in constant radio contact. If anyone doesn't check in, assume the worst. And if anyone, I mean ANYONE damages the bar I'll have your head. You know how Vex feels about keeping a healthy economy going in the city. Keep it quick and clean." North's voice faded into the night as Climt got further away.

First stop was home for a change of clothes. Climt pulled on a pair of jeans and a shirt, leaving the top few buttons undone. Trading his leather watch for a silver one with one of the elect tracking jammers the rebels used, it was the little details that made for a good cover ID. Satisfied he looked like a civilian, Climt headed over to the library. He slipped in the back as a black-eyed beauty gave a drunk a kiss goodnight with her fist.

[[OOC: Added an elect NPC to the team for Crown to make the fight more interesting since Climt can't engage. Have fun rockchild15.]]

Detective Inspector Thomas Raines

Thomas turned his attention away from the young girl as she moved back and worked on preparing his and Carmen's drinks. He didn't doubt it for a second, but it seemed by her response that his assumptions were correct and she had been subjected to another shake-down by the local guards. He swore that a lot of them do it in an attempt to get rises out of people, to trick them into displaying their abilities and thus opening them up to whatever horrors the higher-ups have in store for them. He nodded slowly to his co-worker.

"I wish I could say I'd have them cautioned for harassment. But those guys are pretty much untouchable. I need to keep my job, and my ability to breathe." He listened to the rest of what she had to say, demonstrating a concern for his well-being. It was true that work had been piling up and up recently, and his sleep hours were getting less and less as the days went by. It was an unfortunate development, but a necessary one. It was the only way he could make progress, both in his occupational and extra-occupational work. He shook his head and raised his hand a little.

"There will be time for rest later, when I've gotten to the bottom of what's going on in this city."
Thomas let out a gentle sigh before he heard the voice of another addressing him. He moved his attention to the doctor that was standing beside himself and Carmen beside the counter. He glanced at the lab-coat and I.D. Badge and already formed a base opinion of this man.
"It looks like you left work in a hurry, Dr. Karthus Vandel." He mused further on what he had said about having to see his share of death. If only it was that simple; seeing death and causing it were two very different things.
"I've seen far too many people who end up in your morgue. Put too many in there, too." It was a terrible part of the job, and every life he snuffed out ate away at him. But at its lowest level, it always came down to them or him. As long as he had a purpose to fulfil, he chose himself.

Before he had any chance to mull on that fact further, or possibly let slip that a young man lay dead in an abandoned building because of him, the young girl returned with the drinks he had ordered. He nodded in appreciation and moved to take the cup of coffee from her. Their fingers touched and an image flashed in his mind of himself and Sue. He was carrying her through the park close to where they lived. That was his favourite place to go with her, as it just seemed so much brighter for her being there. They were both smiling, and walking into the light of the sun together.

He snapped to his senses to find the young girl very startled and blather out an excuse, poorly disguising what had just happened.
"Freezing, they are. It's one of the reasons I came in here." He responded, calmly helping her to play it off. This was the confirmation that he required; she was definitely an Elect. Her power, which seemed to him considering the vision he just had, was to show people visions of their past and share it with them, didn't seem very capable of doing much harm. And that was all the more reason for him to protect her, it was his duty.

He left the change on the counter, refusing to not pay for the drinks that she had made for them. Instead, he made a comment that, though innocuous to anyone else, would bear significance to her due to what they had seen.

"You know, if my daughter was around she would be about the same age as you."

Alisa Jane Marchesi

l o c a t i o n : Confection's Cafe
m o o d / t h o u g h t s : Very confused, and just as equally worried/panicked.
w i t h : Delilah, Dr. Vandel, D.I. Raines, Officer Nilkuha... and Cass?

To be honest, his comment confused her on many levels. Was around? Would be? Is he saying... his daughter is dead? But, that doesn't make any sense... Alisa eyed him, debating whether or not to say something. Her nerves were heightened by the acknowledgement that he had indeed seen something, it kept her silent as the others made light conversation.

Generally, she wasn't much of a conversationalist anyways, but nerves would make her even more silent. Well, like the rest of the group here, she wasn't going to sleep very well tonight. Then again, just like what everyone was saying, good sleep was a rare thing. As she finished off the last of her drink, her attention turned to the window. For a moment, she thought it was a glare of the lights off the window, but upon concentrating further, it became clear that there was a figure out there... her sister to be precise.

Something was obviously wrong. Alisa noted that she had none of her stuff with her, and she had not come into the cafe. Putting her mug down slowly, she turned to Delilah for a moment before making her way to the door. "Excuse me, I'll be right back." And she went out the door. Glancing both ways across the street, despite knowing that there was no traffic, she then jogged across the road and walked up to her sister, who stood with a surprised look on her face.

"Hey, everything alright? Where is your stuff?" Alisa brushed her hands on her apron, her eyes falling to her sister's hands. "What's this?"

"There were guards. I took their detector. Look, see?" Cass said quietly as she showed Ally the screen, "This light here indicates an elect. This one is me. And this second one here next to mine..."

She trailed off and looked at her sister with worry etched on her face.

"I'm sorry. I haven't been the big sister you need since...since that incident with the guard. If mom and dad were here, they'd know what to do. I know they're coming back, but..." Cass trailed off again as she shifted from foot to foot, "I'm sorry. Are you okay? Adapting to your power well? Is it time related like mom's?"

As soon as Cass told her what she was holding, she already knew why she was quiet. Her head hung a bit in shame, even though she wasn't being scolded. Quite the opposite, actually. Cass was being really supportive... and loud.

"Shhhh! Don't... not loud." She spoke in a near whisper, then sighed softly. "Let me grab my purse real quick, then I can explain." Pardoning herself now from her sister, she went back across the street and into the cafe, the little bell ringing behind her as she slid her apron off and went into the back. In one swift motion, she replaced her purse with the apron on the hanger, then clocked out and went back to the front. "I'm sorry, Delilah, but something has come up and I've got to go! I'll make it up to you tomorrow I swear! Good night everyone!" She spoke fast and gave a small wave as she went out the door.

It's not like it was too bad, she only had another hour or so on her shift before she'd have to actually leave, and she felt bad for rushing out but this was important. Delilah was a very nice, understanding person. Even if Alisa wouldn't be able to give her an honest answer as to why she had to hurry out. Well, at least it saved her from the awkward scenario with the one cop.

"Okay," she began slowly, as they started heading toward the apartment complex they called home, "You're not a bad sister at all, you've been great. It's just... I didn't want to worry you... So far I've been handling my powers alright, but I try not to push too hard because of possible repercussions... They are time related, yes. They're precognitive."
