Steampunk is a very broad genre. Its the idea of Neo Victorian world run by steam power. Think Airships like in Final Fantasy or The Golden Compass.

Oh god. Steampunk meets dragon-kind would be awesome. Add in the Emporer and his oppresive rule, and you'd get something I'd be more than happy to participate in.

Should we go for the Victorian/Gothic steampunk city, or the train-and-gear laden desert? Both are good, easy to access spots for the genre.

How about something along the lines of a world once ruled by magic and mythic creature, etc, etc. The strongest of which being the mighty dragons. They brought piece and justice to the lands and humans worshipped them as god'like creatures. At some point in history a band of humans challanged their status as protectors and became the first dragon slayers. Dragons crawled int othe earth and left man to their fates. Now over a thousand years later the world of industry and technology has grown into a Steampunk style land. All the magic and mythical creatures have been mostly forgotten. Whats left of the lot is hidden away in a forest far from the human cities, maybe across a wasteland. The evil rulers of this new land are the great decedents of the slayers. Now a small group of heroes have to travel, for some reason, into the wastelands in search of the legendary dragons to help take back the land.

Works for me. I'll probably stay away from the whole transformation thing, but I won't stop others.

Let's add in a world where magic is being drained by the Emporer, a land where the old ways and creatures are giving way to industry and the only hint of magic is the shows street performers put on in their own way of story telling. No longer are the great dragons of old a great power in this world, not as we sap their precious life force from the land, not unless a certain few rebels allows fate to carry them from their homes and into the maws of danger.

By the way, I'd like to go western steampunk if nobody is opposed. Just something about a futuristic wild west that really gets me excited to try this out. I don't mind directing the plot itself after things pick up, but for now, I'll try to keep a few low-key characters and work out how this will develop.

By the way, should we make a new board for this, or just keep this one?
