Theta snorted, a bit let down that Willow said that she would share it, but
he understood her reasoning; even if he did not agree with it. He crossed his
front paws over each other and watched the fae. She seemed almost giddy,
and when she rolled onto her back and looked up at him, he simply tilted his
head to one side. "You are in a good mood aren't you?" he remarked, the
smallest of grins playing on his face. He flicked his tail from one side and then
to the other, and shook his head. "I'm fine," Theta retorted shortly, blinking
once and looking away; over the fae and out into the main den area. A lot
of wolves were gathered, and he could hear Velren's tentative voice. The
brute sighed, remembering when Raiko went through it, and nearly threw it
all away at the Iota Graduate. "Hmm, you sound like you want a litter of your
own soon enough," he said, laying his head on his paws and looking at the
          Kappa fae.

Juno - the lost fae

”You want to know a secret Raiko?” She said as he nuzzled into her. She edged closer to him, sharing warmth against the slight bite that still permeated the air. ”I don’t mind so much when you’re domineering, makes me feel like you wanna protect me.” She finished, not giving him time to answer whether or not he did in fact want to know the secret. She was happy here, sitting in the edge of the densite, nuzzling Raiko, her... mate. It would take a little getting used to, to say the least. ”Janus is happier I think by himself. He gets to be silent and broody, he gets to make his own decisions... and besides he didn’t have a brute that needed looking after back here to come back to.” She laughed softly, nudging his maw with her own before standing and stretching her back out. ”So, shall we go and see the others? Pup’s must be being presented by now surely?”

The Alphaess nodded at his question, smiling a little. Pups found by themselves
rarely survived, but thankfully she had great Upsilons and a strong pack; the
young Velren was doing very well indeed. "Yes, you're a year old now. Officially
an Iota. So you have a year being treated with a little more respect than a pup,
while you grow; you can learn the ways of pack life and pack law, and then when you're ready and an adult, you get the chance to become an Epsilon and start training,"
she said, cutting herself off so as not to bombard the brute with too much information. It was something she'd need to learn from her mate; how to hold
her tongue. Rhea grinned, a little embarrassed by herself, and looked back to Velren.

Willow nodded, while still on her back. "Of course, why wouldn't I be in a good mood? Pups are being born, soon they will be running around the den site, playing and such. The humans have left, Sinray seems to be doing their own thing, we have an Alpha male now... And you're alive and well." Willow quickly flipped back onto her belly, crawling a little closer to his wound to inspect it. "Your wound is doing well, doesn't seem too serious after all." She smiled and inched closer to him, so their pelts were touching. I'm glad you're feeling better." She licked his muzzle. She raised a brow at his next statement, then shrugged and looked forward. "Perhaps, I am three years old in a few days. I've been with enough brutes, never was interested in pups until recently." She looked down at him for a moment, but quickly looked away. "I think I would like a small litter, perhaps just one pup, or two..." She thought about it for a moment, a smile spreading across her muzzle before she looked back down at him. "If only we could choose our size of litters."

The brute pulled back slightly as the fae spoke of some secret she had, and
he couldn't help but grin at her near immediate response. His tail continued
to wag as they enjoyed the presence of each other. Again, Juno twisted his
words for her own fit, and he shook his head. It was still vaguely irritating,
but it was a trait of hers - part of her, and something he had missed while
she had been away. He lifted a leg to scratch an itch on the side of his neck
when Juno mentioned going over to watch the Ceremony. Raiko wasn't
bothered one way or the other, seeing as he was familiar with most wolves,
but figured it would be something to do. Plus Rhea would be there. He could
tell the Alphas he had taken Juno as his mate, so the pack would be aware.
Yes, that was a good thing. Raiko sniffed the air, glancing around. There
weren't too many brutes that would pose a threat - Mace or Tesshin were
both weak in the legs, not that they would want to fight for her, but he'd
have no problems fending them off if they did. His father wouldn't, nor would
Vail. Ares and Torrik were too old. Riku... Riku was a posibility, though Raiko
believed himself to be more than a match for the Member. There were a
few other brutes in the Guard that could pose a threat, but the brute decided
not to think of it. She'd accepted, and if on the rare chance a brute fought
him for her and won; she may not accept his advances. Yes. Decision enough
for Raiko. "Come on then, I think I recognise Velren," he said, pushing
himself up onto his paws and padding across the clearing to where the other
          wolves had gathered.

The brute watched and listened as Willow expressed her feelings on pups,
and he couldn't help but smile. Of course, it was instinctual. Theta would
have been glad, though it seemed the only ones that would be breeding
this season would be Vail and Rhea. Neither wolf he was very fond of. But,
it was to be expected; Rhea the Alphaess and Vail the Elite Zeta. Theta
noted how pleased Willow seemed to be, so he didn't voice his thoughts on
it, for want to please her above anything else. Theta closed his eyes as
Willow crept closer, flattening his ears when he felt his pelt come into
contact with hers, though he opeened his eyes when he felt her lick his
muzzle. When the Kappa fae spoke of brutes not being interested in pups,
he raised his ears again and looked down at her. He wanted to ask, but
didn't want to pry. "Why only one or two? More is better, so long as your
mate can provide," he said, smiling a little as Willow looked back up at
          him.

Willow yawned and leaned slightly on Theta's shoulder, seemingly not shy at all. Stretching her paw out she dropped it on the Boar meat and pulled it closer to her. Sniffing it first she gently nipped and pulled some meat off, in a very 'lady-like' sort of way. She licked around her muzzle, finding the taste rather good, a little fatty, but still good. She took a larger bite, her ear flipping over to Theta as he spoke. She shrugged and brought her neck up, chewing what was in her mouth before answering. "I'm not sure... A large litter, like what Zephyr has, seems like so much work... I think it would be hard, especially for the first litter. Surely a litter of that size would have a hard time surviving in a pack smaller than this one, and that scares me..." She frowned a looked down, her true feelings on litters starting to come out. "I don't know what I would do if I had pups, and some died. I would be a complete wreck." She sighed and looked away. "My mother had a litter of four pups, me and three other two other Faes, only one brute. Our pack was small at the time, all of them died, except me. She just couldn't provide enough milk for all of us, and her mate, my father, was killed by the human cars... Those big loud things the humans ride in sometimes. Our pack was not as united as this one, my mother was lucky all four of us weren't killed by the Alphaess for even having pups, she was a terribly jealous Fae. Only reason she didn't kill us was because my mother was their only Kappa, there were many injured wolves in our pack, a lot of the time." She shrugged and turned back to him. "I'm afraid something like that will happen to me... I must sound silly, dont I?" She asked and placed her chin on her paws.

Theta listened, keeping his head high and allowing Willow to get as close
as she liked. He enjoyed the warmth and the trust, and the brute did not
want to move to spoil it. The noises and chatter from outside seemed to
fade into the background, and the Delta brute enjoyed the peace of simply
Willow and himself in the den. He kept his tail from wagging, and thought
back to his own pups. They hadn't survived, or so he thought. They had
disappeared along with their mother; only Raiko remained, so Willow's fears
were not so silly. "I know what you mean. It is hard, even with one pup..."
he breathed, closing his eyes and resting his chin on Willow gently. "But
if it were me, I'd make sure every pup lived," he said, the beginnings of a
growl developing in his throat. "Rhea is not the strongest wolf, you'd have
nothing to fear from her. Besides, I'd protect you," he added, feeling a
little drowsy with all the warmth and closeness. He kept himself alert, though,
in case anyone tried to approach. He'd be sure to give a warning growl
for anyone disturbing the Kappa. Now Russett had gone, there was only
Willow; and she had to train up Aneira. It would be difficult for her, at least
until the pack got their act together.

Juno - the lost fae

________________________________________________________

As they padded in singular motion across the clearing, Juno was thinking similar thoughts to Raiko. She wondered if he would go so far as to make it official, whether he would let Rhea and her new Alpha... Calico? know. Or perhaps he’d just stay quiet about it and they would just keep it a secret between them. It wouldn’t be official that way, but on the other hand it wouldn’t be so scary. What if Rhea said no, that Raiko needed to be with someone his own age, not an older fae? She shook herself out of these thoughts, of course Rhea wouldn’t do that... would she? No, she wouldn’t, Juno sternly told herself. ”So are you going to present me to the pack as your mate now? The first of your age to get a mate... we’ve come a long way from the days of being pushed off of cliffs and scaring certain fae’s half to death, haven’t we? I wonder if any other Brute will try to fight for me...” she teased him, completely certain that no brute would ever attempt such a thing. She didn’t even know any of them really, her time was almost always spent with Raiko when she was with the pack, she barely ever talked to the males. Or really the females. To be honest she hadn’t actually had that much to do with the pack other than a few wolves. She needed to work on that, that was something she’d have to practise. When they reached the others, she flopped to the ground, waiting to see where Raiko would fall so she could nuzzle him. Yes they were acting like pups, and yes, for now Juno was alright with that.

"Of course," he replied, nudging into her playfully as the two approached
the others, looking for somewhere to sit. Juno had picked a spot, and he followed
the fae over to where she lay. In response to her voicing whether any other
brutes would fight, Raiko growled, "I doubt they'd even try." But Juno
had a habit of humouring him like that, and it was something he was used to.
If he had to prove himself a few times, then so be it. In his opinion, Juno was
the best fae he could have taken, and he wanted to keep it that way. Yes,
he was young, but he had vigour and youth on his side. Hopefully there would
be a bit more training before he was a full fledged Zeta... though the brute
had no worries he'd gain the Alpha's permission. Sitting next to her, he gave
her an affectionate lick as he looked over to what was happening. Velren was
sat before Rhea and Calico, looking more than a little nervous. "Do you
          recognise them?"
Raiko gestured towards the two brutes. By now, Juno
definitely needed to be introduced to the others, and at least he could make
her aware of who was who. Come to think of it, Raiko didn't think Juno had
even met his father as yet? The brute shrugged to himself. It would come in
          time.

”I recognise the pup, or I suppose he’s an Iota now? I think that I might have played with him once, for about five seconds. Or that might have been another pup. Gods, I’m bad at this. All pups look alike to me. Raiko if we ever have pups, can we name them all the same name so I don’t get them confused? That would really help me a lot.” She whispered to him as they continued to watch the ceremony taking place amongst them. Afterwards there would be plenty of time to talk to Rhea and Calico, and to start meeting some of the other wolves. Raiko and her really had been selfish about their time together in the past, shutting the other wolves out. She continued whispering to Raiko as she settled herself more comfortably on the ground, tucking her paws in front of her, one on top of the other. ”Calico’s the other one?” She guessed, assuming more from the fact that he was sitting with Rhea and must be the Alpha, and he’d told her earlier that Calico was the new Alpha. She was smart, see? ”Calico looks a little unsure himself.”

Raiko lay down from sitting position so he and Juno were next to each other,
pelts touching comfortably. He couldn't help but laugh at her words, earning
them a few stares from the other wolves. Raiko met them each and when the
last wolf looked away, he brought his attention back to Juno. "Sure, so
long as they're all called Raiko Jr. Sound alright?"
          he nibbled at her neck
a little before looking back to Calico and Velren. "Yeah, an Iota. I think
you might have done... there's only three left... two from our pack, one from
          Sinray,"
he explained. "I always thought Calico was weak. He was a
Sigma before. Maybe he wont be Alpha for long..."
          he muttered, mulling
it over in his mind. The brute was pleased Juno had a decent bearing on the
pack as it was, and he believed that getting her to meld in with the others
probably wouldn't be so hard after all.

”As long as we call even the fae’s Raiko Jr., that’d only be fair.” She lowered the tone of her voice, noticing that they were drawing stares from some of the other wolves that surrounded them. It was very sweet that Raiko was staring them down for her though. ”Is he weak though? Or just new and still unsure of himself? It’d take a very strong Alpha to stand up to Rhea, I wouldn’t want to be the wolf filling that position.” Laughing softly, as she looked around at the other wolves she recognised, she nodded to as many of them as she could point out. ”That ones called... I’m going to call all the wolves I don’t know the name of Zephyr and Vail. At least two of them will think I know their names. Those two I have down. Did they really mate?” She couldn’t imagine Zephyr mating, last thing Juno remembered, she was still being trained. Then again, Raiko was still being trained she supposed.

The brute grinned and flicked his tail, "who said anything about having
          faes?"
Raiko looked back over to her, a glint in his eye. He was only
half-joking. Half. "You'll learn the names soon enough, they cant all
go round prancing about like the Elite,"
he said, a colder edge in his
voice. Much like his father, Raiko held no love for the Zeta; not after what
had happened before. "Yes... I was there when Rhea permitted it. Zephyr
just had her litter, I'm not sure how many. No doubt Rhea and Calico will
          mention it,"
he muttered, stealing a glance to where the Alphas were.
Their voices were hushed enough so as not to distract them, so Raiko
relaxed a little. "Being a Delta you'll probably have to hunt a few times
          with my father,"
Raiko added with a slight grin, wondering how Juno
would feel about that, or how they'd get along.

”Is your father the big black brute that Zephyr didn’t want training him? I think I remember him, the only big brute delta. Are you going to be all scary and angry at the pack when you get older too?” She teased him, trying to imagine a version of Raiko that was as imposing and vaguely scary as his father. ”Zephyr had a litter... tiny Zephyrs, running around the den.” She laughed, nudging him as he mocked about having faes. If he thought they were having all brutes, he had another thing coming. ”If we have brutes... I’m going to trade them for faes.” She joked, keeping half an eye on the Alpha’s in front of them, not wanting to draw undue attention before she was ready. She thought of hunting with Raiko’s father, her mouth watering at the thought of getting back to the pack hunt. She’d missed it, oh how she’d missed it. ”I cannot wait to hunt. And eat. And fish. I just want to hunt and eat and fish for about three months and then maybe I’ll be satisfied.”
