ΣxxxThe Lost Sigma FaexxxΣ
Kyoko wasn’t sure what was going on when Khedar turned away from the group and headed for the beach. They were supposed to be headed toward the cliffs but they couldn’t go that way, Khedar couldn’t carry Kyo up the cliffs and there was no way the wounded fae was going to be able to make it up there on her own before the human’s got there. Black lids slowly drifted closed over hazel orbs making Kyoko appear to be asleep when she was actually just resting her eyes from the bright falling sun. She must have fallen asleep though because when she woke Khedar was laying her on the ground. ”Thank you, my friend,” Kyo said as she curled up on the soft bed of grass.
They were safe for now which was all that Kyo could really ask for. She didn’t enjoy the thought of death for either her nor Khedar. The fae’s ears lay back as he told her to wait and he would return. The last time she had heard those words bad things had happened but Kyoko stayed. She sat her head on her front paws and watched Khedar duck into the forest. She didn’t know when he would return but she hoped it would be soon. The fae’s body was relaxed and in her position, it didn’t take long for her to fall asleep.
The smell of rabbit jerked Kyoko from her reverie. Hazel eyes fluttered open and a tired gaze fell upon the rabbit that was resting next to her toes. ”Thank you Khedar… for everything,” Kyoko mumbled. She wanted the Lambda to know that she was very thankful for the help he was giving her. If it wasn’t for him she might not even be alive at the moment. If they hadn’t gone to face Ezra then she might still be back at the den where the humans and their servant dogs could be. No matter what was going on, Kyoko felt safe where she was remember back to the last time that she truly felt safe.
That would have been several summers ago when she was but a pup and she could remember it well. She had been playing with Adonie near the river and as they were wrestling, Kyoko slipped down the bank and was unable to climb back up on her own. Memories swelled in Kyoko’s mind making her fall into some kind of trance for a moment.
”Adonie, help me!” her voice sounded troubled and young. Kyoko’s paws pushed against the current of the river that was dragging her downstream. She was trying so hard to fight against it, trying to keep her head above water. The black pup coughed as the water rushed over her head trying to suck the air away from the pup.
“KYOKO!” the male pup called as he bolted down the riverbank trying to catch up with her.
There was a loud splashing sound as Kyoko’s head finally ducked under the water and her breath sucked away from her lungs making them burn. Suddenly something pulled her from the cold grasp of the rushing water. Someone had her by the scruff of the neck forcing her head above the water so she could breathe. The pup coughed roughly twice and then sucked in a deep breath of oxygen as her hazel eyes opened to see Adonie on the bank of the river watching with fearful eyes.
The wolf that held her struggled with the current but soon was pawing their way up onto the bank with Kyoko still in their grasp. Once the pup dropped to the ground, she turned to look at her rescuer. His Smokey grey coat and dark brown eyes were things that Kyoko knew well. The dark eyes looked to her and then to Adonie. “What happened?” his voice commanded.
“Well we were only playing and Kyoko fell in,” Adonie whimpered.
The large grey wolf glanced down at Kyo who was coughing and sputtering still from her trip into the river. “I told you to stay away Kyoko, you nearly drowned!” Kyoko turned her hazel orbs from the angry ones of the grey wolf. Her heart was fluttering in her chest with how right he was but she was safe now. The large wolf stood and Kyoko moved as well. “We need to get back to the others.” His voice was softer now but Kyo knew just how much trouble she was in.
As they walked, she moved so she was standing between the front legs of the larger wolf and Adonie, who as only a few months older than Kyo was walking next to them with his head bowed. Kyo’s hazel orbs glanced to him frequently, she felt bad that Adonie might get in trouble for her bad footing. If there was one thing that Kyoko hated it was when Adonie got into trouble. She cared so much for the young brute she hated to see him hurting.
“You found them!” a beautiful voice called as a black and white wolf came prancing up to the pair. Her nose lovely touched Kyoko making the pup take a few steps back under the grey wolf.
“Don’t worry so much Jazz, I know Kyoko is a little bit of a free spirit but she’ll be fine when she gets older. She’s just might succeed us one day,” the male sad as he sat keeping Kyoko between his front legs. “I think Vengeance has something special as well but I know that Kyo has the Alpha blood she needs to make it if she can keep from making bad decisions like she did today.”
Kyoko hated it when her parents spoke down to her but she did deserve it this time. “I’m sorry father, I didn’t realize how..” she broke off in midsentence because her father snarled looking to Adonie. “It’s not his fault,” Kyoko protested. As she spoke on behalf of her friend, her father’s growling stopped and he looked to the young fae for a moment before licking her forehead.
“You will make an amazing alpha one day Kyoko. You have the heart to lead people and protect them, and do not worry. If anything bad should happen, you know that I’ll be here to keep you safe. Just like today, I’ll be there to pull you out of the river,” he told her with a loving tone.
Oh how wrong Syn had been! He wouldn’t be there for her, no, he betrayed her and her mother when he decided to choose another mate. Kyoko would never forgive him for that but at least she had a few good memories. The ebony fae’s head jerked up suddenly as she was brought back to the problems at hand. Her eyes glanced to Khedar while she gave somewhat of a smile to him. She wondered how long she had been quiet, oh well. She couldn’t have been silent for that long, right? Her eyes glanced back to the rabbit, her tail wagged, and Kyoko took a bite of her meal hoping to finish it off while it was still warm.
