xxxxxYou just woke up. It doesn't feel good at all, huh? Waking up so early.

Yeah, school starts again. How lame. However, it's not really a good time for thinking how much does it suck. It's time to wake up, get ready and go.

You have to attend the opening ceremony first, though. Yes, it will be boring. Even the president thinks it is, and he's hosting it. After that, however, you might go and eat the lunch in school's caffeteria and talk with your friends. Sounds fair enough, eh?

Remember not to cause trouble, sweeties.

In moments like these, Karasu really wished he wasn't a Chosen One. Because, honestly, these sharp senses could be such a pain in the a**... Ah, the touch too. The hard, cold desk didn't really feel good against his back. In the other hand, it was enough for the boy to realize that he's not in his room. The difference between the bed he was usually sleeping in and... this one was so awful it would be noticeable for every normal human. Not speaking about the... less normal ones. Yeah, let's put it like that for the time being. Also, it was quite understandable that Karasu wasn't the normal one, because right now his back actually started to hurt and he couldn't help but frown from the weird smell of drugs, alcohol, cigarettes and god knows what else. Killing mix that was able to make even a normal human puke. And even though the boy was quite used to it already, it was still so awful he couldn't help but let out a soft sigh and slowly open one of his eyes. A quick glance around helped him to understand his current situation better, although he probably wasn't able to think straight yet. Oh, no worries. He could take care of his body just well, if not by sleeping then by biokinesis. Yeah, physically, he didn't have to worry about being tired. When it came to mental matters... let's leave it as it is. He wasn't a complete idiot after all, was he? Yeah, he was one of the best students and such but... grades never described your intelligence. Even an idiot could sit for the whole day and night and learn, then go to school and get a good grade. Book knowledge meant nothing because, honestly, you won't be able to use it a lot later in your life. Like hell someone will force you to do some complicated math problems. If someone would tell him to do it outside the school, he'd gladly beat the s**t out of the idiot. Literally. Sure, collecting debts was forcing him to count, but come on, that was just a simple stuff. And no, he wasn't planning to become some idiotic mathematician in his future. His future was lost long time ago, honestly - it was all planned out with every goddamn detail. And as much as he liked freedom, he couldn't go against his Boss. Loyalty. Do you even know what does it mean? Because Karasu knew everything about it. Or at least when it came to his father.

When he finally stopped breathing loud like some damn animal, he realized that there's actually someone laying next to him. With another sigh, this time one that expressed annoyance, he opened both of his purple eyes and started to get up just to get dragged down immediately. He felt a tight grip on his wrist and as he turned his head to see who it is, he frowned for a short while. A girl? Heh, please. There was no way he'd remember... Oh, wait. She did certainly seem to be quite familiar... Wait, didn't he just sleep with her? Confusing thoughts hit his head aggressively, as she was staring at his lost face and smiling like it would be totally alright. "So... what do you want? Let me go," it took him a while to manage to actually say anything. But it was worth it, as she let go of his hand obediently. It's not like he couldn't free himself, he just didn't want to bother, really. It was better to actually talk than fight with girls - especially with ones who actually had their connections in Mafia. No, he wasn't scared that someone would go after him. There was enough people who wanted to see his head on a silver plate anyway. One more, one less... did it really matter? Ever since he was kidnapped, he kept his guard up. "Nothing... Just wanted to know where are you going," she smiled again and he could feel his eyebrow raising. Since when someone actually cared where he was going? Please. She could at least think of a better lie or something. He didn't even know what day it was... Oh yeah, maybe she did. Sighing deeply, he managed to get out of the bed, standing with his bare feet on the cold floor and staring at his black boxers. Just where did he threw his clothes yesterday? "Be useful and tell me what day it is," he mumbled when he finally spotted his t-shirt laying on the floor. When Karasu was walking around the room collecting his wardrobe, the girl got up lazily and checked her cellphone. "Hey Crow... Are you sure you want to know?" she turned around slowly, staring at him with a weird smile on her face. Karasu looked up at her kind of confused, but few seconds later his confusion changed into an expression of annoyance. "Of course I do. If I wouldn't want to know, I wouldn't bother asking you," he held himself from putting any insults into the sentence. It'd be pointless anyway, and arguing with girls was so troublesome. They were all so stubborn... meh. After finally getting dressed, he looked at her again and was waiting for her answer. Or actually, for anything. If she won't stop giggling like an idiot he's going to slap the hell out of her, really... She has three more ******** seconds. He was tapping his fingers on the desk and she probably realized what was he doing, finally finishing her very smart action. "It's September First, Young Master..." and that was all she managed to say before Karasu disappeared from the room with no intentions of coming back ever again. Okay, maybe sometime. ********, whatever.

Running down the stairs as fast as it was possible, he reached to his pocket and found his cellphone. Pulling it out, Karasu checked the time and sighed deeply, frowning in annoyance. He had one hour. One hour to do ******** everything. He should finally listen to people and stop drinking during the weekdays. Or the day before ******** September First. Why the hell did he forget about such an important date anyway? So hopeless... His men should at least remind him what day it was before they all went to drink. ******** retards, he'll make sure to scold them later. But yeah, that will be later, because now he didn't have time for such stuff. He still had to go back home, shower, change, think about the lame speech... wait. He's not going to do that, clearly. He won't have time. Which meant that he will have to pull this goddamn speech out of his ******** a** when he'll already be in school. "Wonderful, Karasu. You really did well this time," he mumbled to himself, unable to hold a sarcastic comment anymore. Or perhaps it was this cold, morning air's fault. Well, it certainly woke him up a bit. Looking around, he spotted his car at the parking and rushed towards his red and black Bugatti Veyron, getting inside. Good thing that all of his stuff was there already. Wallet and such... He didn't really know why he didn't take it with him inside, but whatever. Good thing he actually took the cellphone and keys. Otherwise, he would be pretty much doomed. Wait, wasn't he doomed already? In a battle against time you had no chance of winning, unless you'd be really fast. And even though he was driving one of the fastest - if not the fastest - cars on the world, it didn't really help much. His mansion was quite close, yes, but he still had a lot of things to do before he could leave to school. And he was a person that couldn't afford being late. He was a goddamn school president and he had to start the opening ceremony - there was no way around it. He could already see all these people whining and he sighed deeply. No, he won't listen to this. He'll make it on time, just ********' watch, scum.

After a few minutes of mindless staring at the road as he was trying to skillfully drive as fast as it was possible while having so many cars around he finally managed to see his mansion. Yeah, his sight was so good and the mansion wouldn't be visible for a normal human yet but well... it was for Karasu. His mansion was quite a big one anyway - all white, which was resembling an old building from Victorian era. His father loved this place so much though, and Karasu couldn't complain either. He had few apartments all around the city but yet, this place was his only home, right? You had only one after all. When he finally managed to get out of the car, he found himself running desperately towards the doors. How much time did he have left? Karasu reached for his cellphone again. 45 minutes left. Good enough, or so he thought. He won't lose this lame battle against time, though. Opening the doors fiercely, all of the maids gathered in entrance hole jumped up slightly, staring at him with a confusion in their eyes. "W-welcome back, Young Master..." their voices didn't really sound sure but Karasu ignored all of them, climbing up the stairs and running towards his bedroom. He had better things to do than stand and reply to some useless maids. Okay, maybe it was better than they were cleaning up but still... society needed such people after all. Pushovers, eh? Yeah, he'd call them like that. Obedient dogs didn't deserve any another nicknames anyway. Swearing loyalty to a lot of people was just a bullshit anyway. Karasu opened the doors to his bedroom and sighed slightly. Someone cleaned up his room again. Man, now he won't be able to find a s**t. It was always like that. Seems like he'll have to take care of the maid who dared to enter his room without a permission. A good care, obviously. Even though it wasn't really much of a punishment for any of these... useless things. Except the fact that he could fire them anytime. Karasu sighed and smirked, closing the doors after him and looking around. 40 minutes left.

He took few steps forward and stopped, though. On the floor, there was an... envelope? A big one, on top of that. Who the hell did left a letter for him on the ******** floor? Oh, please. That was just too stupid. Karasu went to pick it up and realized that there's something else inside. Not only a letter, but a thing as well. Frowning slightly, he went to the desk and left it over here, wondering what should he do. It could be a trap after all. The other gangs could get desperate and send him some kind of a bomb which would explode when the envelope is opened. He checked the text written on the paper and raised his eyebrow. "Huh? 'From: God'? Yeah, like hell a God would send me a letter..." he mumbled to himself. He didn't have time to just stand here and think about the mail, though. He could either open it or trash it. And the first option seemed to be more appealing... at least for Karasu. Ah, the human curiosity could really kill sometimes. Let's see if this time the curiosity would kill the cat. He slowly ripped the top of the paper off, peeking inside. A silver pentagram which was as big as his one palm and a letter. Biting his lip, he took the pentagram out and looked at it carefully. No, it wasn't a bomb... and that was the only thing he could be sure of. Leaving it on the desk, he took the letter out and started to read, his frown deepening with every word that he saw.Yes, it was a letter from God. One asking him to help with hunting down the demons and ex-gods. But Karasu decided about it long time ago. He was going to remain neutral and only the people who will deserve it will receive his help. Quite easy, wasn't it? Taking sides wasn't much of his thing, that's why he refused to be either good or evil. Neutral did sound better anyway. You could at least decide about yourself. But well, he wasn't going to leave it like that anyway. He'd carry the pentagram with him. If a demon or ex-god would be stupid enough to attack him he had some advantage, as the thing could seal the creature's power away. And then they won't be able to harm him. How sad and funny at once.

But he'd care about it later. Now, he went up to the closet and started to look for his Student Council President's uniform. Yeah, yeah, he had a different one. People who were in council had different uniforms too, although his was... unique, yeah. It wasn't used for so long though... Karasu reached for it and took it out, staring at the clothes like they would be his main enemy in this war. He disliked uniforms, even though these didn't look bad. It was just that he disliked school and therefore, he didn't like anything connected to it anyway. Yeah, the president hating on his own school. Most of people would find it quite ironic, wouldn't they? Well, Karasu found it ironic, too. But he had to put up with it anyway. Actually, it was way more than just putting up with it. He had to act, but... that wasn't really the worst thing. He was a good actor. A natural born one, even. He could deceive anyone's feelings and win hearts of people at school despite being who he was. But... he had to keep his true identity a secret. No one was supposed to know about it after all. And yet, this one kid... Eh, he's going to worry about the hacker later. It wasn't really the time to think about it anyway. A plan? Why would he need one? He's just going to tell the kid that if he tells anyone, Karasu will make sure to block him away from tech world. It's not like it was really hard to get his surname on the list that no mall would sell stuff to and destroy every computer remaining in his house. Seriously, he could destroy as much of these as he wanted to. Power... you can have power in your fists, not in your computer. It was just a machine after all. It could easily fail you. Hm... yeah, well, whatever. He stared at the uniform for few more seconds and just shrugged, taking it with him to bathroom. He still had to take a shower and make his hair look less like he would be after a WW3. He didn't worry about his face much - he could change it at will through DNA code. He could easily switch shapes too but... he found that weird and unnecessary. As long as he didn't need a completely new image, he would stay in his natural body. If you could call white hair and purple eyes natural, that is. But you probably could... he was a living example that such stuff was possible.

Being done with all the morning stuff, he looked at himself in the mirror for the last time. Sighing quietly, Karasu grabbed the pentagram and shoved it into his pocket. However, there were another things that he needed to take with himself. Yeah, his weapons. You could never know what will happen after all. Skillfully hidden under his clothes, the guns and daggers didn't stand out after all. He stretched for the one, last time and ran out of the room. 20 minutes left. Good enough - he should be on time. His hair was still a little bit wet but he honestly couldn't bother to dry it completely. If he would, he'd be late. He'd just open the window in his car and let the wind take care of it. Actually, running down the stairs he started to think if it's possible to dry your hair through DNA manipulation. Guess you could make them really hot, but there was always a possibility that they'll burn. In the other hand, you could easily make them grow again. Oh, ******** it. He's not going to bother. Wind will do. Wasting time on his hair wouldn't be the smartest thing he could do right now anyway. Actually, nothing was smart right now. Except running like crazy to your car and hurrying up. He should be on time, although it will take some... driving skills, yeah. And he had to avoid police - although with his senses, that wasn't really hard. "Have a safe trip, Young Master..." maids bowed to him again as he finally managed to get into the entrance hall. Oh, one more thing... He ran in the right direction and knocked on a big, wooden doors, decorated with many gold things. "Yes?" his father did sound sleepy, but Karasu didn't really care. His dad would wake up early so it wasn't his fault anyway. "I just wanted to say that I'm leaving now," he smiled to the doors like they would be able to smile back and sighed quietly when he realized what he's doing. His father probably knew that Karasu was out for a whole night but well... That was something normal anyway. "Alright. Have fun," and that was all he heard. Well, not like he expected anything else or more, honestly. "I'll try," he said and turned around, running out of the mansion and entering his car. Okay now, which road should he take? If he'd pick the main one, it would be a shorter distance, however, there would be way more cars and he could easily find himself stuck in a traffic jam. Hell, it was Tokyo - a hour that everyone went to school and work. There was no possible way of going around it. He still picked the way that seemed to be the more free, although longer. And he had only a few minutes left. Hell, he's going to be late. No, no, wait. He's not. Ah, ******** it. 15 minutes left, and he was usually driving for around 20 or 25 when he was going to school. If he's going to drive really fast, maybe he can make it.

Starting to drive, he really tried to avoid the busy streets and he was driving... really... fast. He could swear he passed by some people from his school but who cared about it now? He had to be on time, and that was all that mattered. Or he's going to get bothered about it until the end of next month or even more. Karasu smiled with satisfaction as he saw the school slowly growing in his eyes. 3 minutes left. Good enough. He felt this weird feeling of happiness when he parked the car and closed the doors after getting out of it. One minute to go. He turned around and started to run through people who were sitting here just to get in the school on time. Seconds were particularly ticking in his ears as he passed by the Student Council room and entered the hall. He went through the entrance behind the stage not to get too much attention, although he probably forgot that their math teacher had her eyes all around her head. "Finally! Just on time! Get on the stage now! And your speech better be good," Karasu smiled nicely as she was ranting about it, making the time pass by even more. Oh well, the ceremony delay was her fault now, not his. He did it on time and that's what was important here. "Of course, ma'am. Also, I'm sorry," he bowed slightly and walked up on the stage, staring at the students for a while. And even though he felt like he'd gladly puke right now, he had to give out some lame speech that no one would listen to anyway. He was sure if he'd just repeat "p***s" all the time, no one would notice. Except the math teacher, that is, and this is why he didn't do that. Sighing deeply and cleaning his throat, he grabbed the mic and looked at all these students again. Meh... Putting a nice smile on his face, he started to stare somewhere in the one point to make it look like he was talking to everyone, not just the person that he was currently looking at. "Hello, people. Welcome to this new school year. I hope we can enjoy it together again," and blah, blah, blah. He honestly didn't even know what he was talking about. Because come on, that was so boring it even made him more sleepy. Although when he was about to finish, he checked his math teacher's expression and she seemed to be happy. Oh well, at least she was.

A certain goddess of nature had an early start, as she usually did. She rose just a bit before the sun came up. Sometimes earlier, depending on when she falls asleep. Being a goddess, she doesn't really need to sleep much so she rose pretty early because of that alone. She had stayed out a little later than she'd planned to; having fun and getting lost in the city with her friends. She just couldn't refuse a good time. They went to a few bars and she even had some "fun", if you catch my drift. Despite all of the late night's activities, however, the woman was still able to get up with a rather cheery disposition. Not that that was uncommon for her, though. She wasn't like some who had difficulty and/or were grouchy when they woke up at certain times. If ever she had a hangover, then maybe. But that's highly unlikely. This woman can hold her liquor quite well. She has to when she's as beautiful as she is and men are trying to get her drunk just so they can try and take advantage of her. The key word in that is try, though. It took a bit of practice but she can drink a lot before she gets drunk now. Plus her body isn't like a regular human's and alcohol doesn't have that great an effect on her. Thank goodness for that, or she might have woken up with a hangover in someone else's bed or something. If she's ever forced into drinking the really hard stuff, then maybe. She does have a picky palette, though, and usually sticks to drinking wine. A bit delicate, I suppose you could say, but that's just the way she is.

The goddess; well, ex-goddess, was up but her bed was rather comfy. Soft blankets wrapped around her, a soft pillow under her head not to mention that mattress that memorizes the contour of your body. She was totally comfortable, a soft sigh of contentment escaping her lips. She may not have been tired, but her body did ache a bit. Despite her delicate body, she likes to party hard and she did exactly that when she went to paint the town red with her friends last night. Even though she was a performer and was used to the workout her body had to go through with all the dances, it still made her body ache in all those places. The comfy bed didn't help to get up and she snuggled even more into it. I know I should get up... Ugh... But this bed just makes all those muscles feel good... she tried to urge herself while ending up with an excuse to stay in bed longer. Thankfully for her, she wasn't alone. Not too long, she felt something heavy on the bed. From the way it felt, that "something" must have lept or jumped up onto the bed. She knew what was coming next and soon felt a tongue licking her face. Lady Mei! Up, up! came an excited, male voice in her mind while audibly she heard excited panting from a canine. Mei squeezed her already closed eyes tightly, wrinkling her nose at the unorthodox waking and washing of her face, if you think about it. "Alright, alright." came Mei's normally sensual voice. The animal in question sat on his hunches, looking at her expectantly. Mei opened an eye, revealing a purple iris in the dim light. "Open the curtains, Xu Hui." she requested pleasantly, her voice without a trace of the aching her body felt. Yes, my lady! the dog got up and jumped off the bed soundlessly, trotting to the windows which took up most of the walls they were on, placed in the center. He made his way around the room, effortlessly tugging the sashes in the opposite direction to open the the curtains.

Mei had both eyes opened; bright violet irises now in place. She blinked once before sitting up and stretching her whole body out, feeling those aches even more. She let out a soft groan before she slid out of bed. She snapped her fingers and her bed began to make itself. The windows opened at the same moment, letting in the sound of the noisy city below. She was on the tenth floor of an apartment complex. It sounds shabby but the place was actually quite luxurious. It had to be, if Mei was staying there. Being born as a goddess, she was already blessed with so many precious things that humans might take a life time to obtain. She didn't want to settle for anything she wasn't used to but humans were fairly below her standards when it came to wealth. This meant she had to make due with what humans thought was "wealthy" and this apartment complex had been close enough with out her having to go to a hotel. Even if some of them were nicer than this place. It might as well be called a condo, because the rooms were just like them, though. Or like really luxurious hotel rooms. Hotels tempted her, but they didn't allow her animal friends so that was a definite no-go for her. She couldn't live without Xu Hui, for instance. He'd been her faithful companion even before she'd been sent to prison. Yup, he's no ordinary dog, even if he looks like one. Xu hui would be pedigreed as a husky. Full blooded. And, technically, that's what he is. He just happens to be an immortal one. A familiar of sorts, one of many for Mei who is actually the goddess of nature and has so many because it's so easy for her to adopt a familiar. Xu hui is among her favorites. A dog is truly one's best friend, man or woman, human or god.

Xu Hui had already made her a pot of hot water. The feat would have been near impossible for normal animals but Xu Hui wasn't "normal". She poured some powered tea into a ceramic cup then poured the hot water over it, filling it to the near brim. She waited for it too mix thoroughly and cool down a bit before taking a sip. She sighed, content. She loved how she got up so early that she didn't have to rush. She didn't like being rushed. Like nature, she needed to be given time in anything. To get ready to leave somewhere, to do something for you, to get something done. She doesn't like last minute planning. She has a bit of an issue with organization and can be pretty a**l when it comes right down to it. It's actually a case of OCD (if gods can have OCD? ), but she prefers to say that that's just how she is. She's not one to admit faults but she doesn't consider this one of them. She didn't see anything wrong with needing to be a little organized. Perhaps not exactly how you'd describe her but there's hardly a thing you could do about it and she is rather touchy about it. She can get very defensive about this. Perhaps the only thing that will make her seem like a short fuse, when she's usually good at keeping her poise. She took another sip as she walked over to her closet, Xu Hui at her side. Merely with her eyes, she began to choose outfits; mentally moving them from the closet to her bed. She turned away from the closet and began to eye the clothes she chose. Her school uniform was what she would be wearing out but she always brought a change of clothes. She was debating on whether she would go with traditional or modern today. Traditional would always be her favorite but she did have to factor in the weather and the other outfit. It seemed as if modern would do it.

You're thinking sensibly today, Lady Mei. Xu Hui commented. Mei childishly stuck her tongue out at him, giggling a bit as he referred to her outfit last night. "It was for fun, I had to dress accordingly." she wore a suggestive smile and Xu Hui merely rolled his eyes, barking out a laugh before leaving the area to give her some privacy. Mei set the cup on her night stand before she shed her lavender, silk tank top and shorts and headed to the bathroom to take a shower. When she finished drying herself off, she put on, over her undergarments, her school uniform. She had chosen, however, jeans with a seemingly plain black belt and a formfitting long sleeve that showed a little midriff. The neck of the long sleeve was a V and would tastefully showed a little cleavage. She went to the vanity that sat next to the closet and chose simple jewelry. A few charm bracelet she only ever took off for sleep, an anklet of the same value to her, a silver pendant with an amethyst jewel in the center in the shape of a sakura blossom, earrings that matched the pendant but not as studs, hanging down a few centimeters from her ear, and a couple o' rings on each hand. She mixed up gold and silver today, which she normally did. She hated the boring monotone of "just gold" or "just silver". Unless the style conflicted, which it hardly did. In general, tough, she despised boring things. Probably why she preferred Xu Hui to Min Xiu Lan, who was a Siamese cat with beautiful emerald eyes. She was a little lazy and hardly liked to do anything. She was rather intelligent, though, and made for fun conversation.

As she thought of the feline, Mei was reminded of where she had do go before heading to school. She picked up her still quite warm tea, finished the contents and walked over to the kitchen as the rejected outfits returned to the closet on their own. Xu Hui rejoined her as she set the cup in the sink and, as with a lot of things, the water began to run in the sink all of it's own accord, it would seem, rinsing the cup out. This took just a few seconds. Mei was back in the bathroom, removing the excess water from her hair and thinking on how to style it. She went with a simple ponytail and chose a butterfly decorated barrette to clip back one side of her bangs while she let the other fall freely. She weaved a thin violet ribbon through the ponytail and tied it off at the end. This would normally take a person a while, with hair as long as hers, but habit and speed made quick work of it instead. She walked back over to the vanity, which was had a full body mirror in the middle, and looked over her appearance. She seemed satisfied, nodding at her reflection with an approving smile on her naturally soft pink lips. She didn't bother with make up, as per usual. It was such a bother to put on and take off, anyway. She'd rather not waste her time with it. She was just going to school, anyway. It wasn't like she needed the make up for that or at all in general. She gather her things, both her wallet and school things, placed them neatly in her stylish messenger bag before slinging onto her shoulder. She looked around at her spotless apartment before she headed for the door. "Off to the clinic, Xu Hui," she said in a sing-song voice as her faithful companion walked ahead of her out of the door before she closed it behind her.

The clinic wasn't too far from where Mei lived and she normally traveled herself where ever she had to go. Vehicles were kind of useless when you could carry yourself telekinetically. She didn't use that power now, though. She just walked to the clinic and Xu Hui, despite how long they've been together, still can't get used to floating in the air and prefers the ground. Plus, he's a dog and naturally loves walks. Once at the clinic, Mei smiled at a couple of workers who were usually there earlier than her. It was only because they lived much closer and actually had cars. They were also a bit older than her. Well, appearance wise. A lot of the workers still couldn't believe that someone as young as her could found and open a clinic. She had given a story about rich parents who had no problem with expense, which wasn't too far off since her parents' wealth was much more than these humans despite her parents being rather poor for gods. They only began to prosper when she was born, and no surprise there. Thanks to her, her parents had a better life and she was glad she could have done them some service after leaving them. She still hears from them every now and then, one of her familiars bringing her a letter from them or a trinket they think she would like, which she normally did. She hadn't acquired this expensive taste out of nowhere. Her parents contributed to that, especially when she was younger. They would dress her in the most expensive clothes and accessories. They had to compliment her beauty with exquisite clothes. Now she's just used to it and tries to keep up with her usual luxuries despite being on earth where there is so much less.

About time... Late out last night? came an almost equally sensual female voice as Mei's, in her mind, as with Xu Hui this morning. She smiled at Min Xiu Lan pleasantly, petting her soft fur. "I had a great night, thank you very much." she scratched behind the feline's ears before she turned to the other two workers there, who were very much used to her strange habit of talking to the animals. "Good morning, you two. All the animals were well over night, yes?" she asked them, though they knew the question was practically rhetorical, since she never waited for an answer. She had already begun to walk down the aisles, looking over the animals. She could hear their "hellos" and "good mornings" and many other greetings; she smiled and nodded at them pleasantly in return, murmuring her own greetings occasionally. She was listening for any complaints, but heard none. She made her way back to the two workers and nodded, "Everything seems to be in order. As everyday, I expect this place to run smoothly. Don't mind my pets around here, as they will come in and out freely. Contact my cell if anything goes wrong. Have a nice day and keep up the good work." she smiled at them pleasantly before she turned to Xu Hui and Min Xiu Lan. "Don't give that old lady a hard time now, Xu Hui and you be nice to him, Min Xiu Lan." the perfect Chinese accent that flowed when she used her pets' names always astounded the workers. Her Japanese was flawless and the fact that she could make such a transition so easily was astonishing. She waved to all of them, the workers a little flustered by her smile every time, before she turned and headed out.

Now Mei was off to school. She couldn't help but laugh at the thought that someone as old as her was going to school, but she had to keep up appearances. She would never age out of the body she had now and she had often been called a truant when she was first discovered on earth. It was quite amusing. When she began to attend school, she found the people to be very entertaining. So much drama, gossip--everything that a social girl like her thrived on. She could care less about the work, but she did it anyway and was one of the top students. The attention from that was more than she could have asked for. She made friends easy, as you can imagine, and flirted with a lot of people. She had a few skirmishes because of it, but it was hardly anything she couldn't handle. Not that she ever really did anything. She wasn't a fighter, after all. Well, at least, she didn't like being one. But she was a skilled one, nonetheless and her quick, pressure point-based attacks usually took care of the problem. She's never gone up against anyone who was faster than her. Not yet. She knew she had to watch herself. She wasn't thoughtless when she flirted. She usually picked single, seemingly lonely yet interesting people. She certainly wasn't going to waste her time on a bore. Then again, she also stayed away from brutes. She was physically fragile, making her so dainty and naturally feminine. Possibly the embodiment of the word. Hmm. Yes. I think people would agree with that.

The school was fairly occupied by the time she arrived. She had taken her time on both the walk to the clinic from her home and the walk to school. As mentioned before, she wasn't one to rush. She actually arrived there a few minutes before the opening ceremony speech was to be given by their student council president. She had a good memory of him and he always seemed like a pretty likable person as far as she was concerned. Then again, she thought of him as a potential... partner to have fun with. She hasn't heard anything bad about him, really. Perhaps some rumors but you could hardly trust the words of gossip. She would know, being a Queen of Deceit. Mei had went to her morning class, first. Settling her things in, greeting the teacher and some other like-minded students just as they were about to leave and chatting with them on their way to the ceremony. Once she got there, she split off from her new acquaintances and began to mingle in the mass of students. There weren't many open seats, but several people invited her to sit with them. They were either old acquaintances or new students whom she seemed to captivate. One of them in particular caught her interest and she chose to sit next to him, exchanging pleasantries before the inevitable flirting began. She didn't even really take notice of the president speaking until her and her current partner-in-crime were shushed and scolded by a couple of the teachers around them. She giggled softly, apologizing for her rude behavior before she gently broke off from the new student. He seemed thoroughly disappointed as she sat with a group of girls who seemed to be new and definitely admiring. She merely smiled pleasantly at them before seeming as if she were listening to all of what the president was saying, while she merely let her mind wander to thoughts of other, more "fun" things.

He awoke to the sound of beeping. It wasn’t like the beeping of an alarm clock. It was far too soft, and melodic to be the obnoxious ringing that always accompanied the knowledge of having to get up to go to something you didn’t want to. Had it been ringing, he wouldn’t have so much as rolled over to block the sound out. He would have ignored it until he was able to transform it from annoying, to soothing. Like how one can be lulled to sleep by the rhythm of something. Like he used to do with his brother’s snoring. (Practice did indeed, make pefect.) So he was fooled into cracking open his eyes to see what had happened. Only to remember just as his gaze landed on the blinking red button that this really was his alarm. He had set it up the night before just so he would be fooled into thinking it wasn’t the unwelcome device. For a moment the boy thought about just ignoring it and going back to bed. But after realizing that he was never able to continue sleeping after opening his eyes, and remember that if he was found skipping the first day of school his mother would come fetch him (after all, what would one think if they found out his father’s son was skipping class? Appearances were everything really.) and he would be forced back into that dinky house, he rethought that. Kiyoshi groaned as he picked himself up and successfully damned himself for being smart enough to be able to fool even himself.

Kiyoshi trudged to the bathroom, intent on showering and possibly untangling his mess of hair. But as soon as he reached the bathroom and stared into the mirror over his sink he was reminded of where he had chosen to sleep the night before. “Damn it all,” he spat, glaring at his reflection. The angry, red imprint of his keyboard stared back at him from it’s position on his cheek. Upon further inspection he was even able to make out the lettering of the keys he had chosen to fall on. The annoyance of this was only intensified when he was successful in remembering the reason why he had fallen asleep in the uncomfortable position of on top of his keyboard. The school had upgraded their damn firewalls. Which of course came as quite a shock to him when his usual easy method of hacking in had been denied, and only added further surprise and irritation when it took him an accumulating hour to be able to worm his way back in. This irritation was furthermore extended when he realized that the credit card number he stole had been found out already as well. Normally this wouldn’t have been that big a deal, but he was tired and already annoyed to the point of breaking. So he gave up and had just let his head fall down there to sleep it off. Unfortunately it worked a lot better than he had thought it would. Clucking his tongue Kiyoshi figured the shower would help it somewhat and stripped before jumping into it. The hot water woke him up and helped to relieve his sore muscles. The boy couldn’t help but still feel incredibly stiff when he finally stepped out though. He ran his hair through a towel quickly, making sure his long locks were at least semi-dry before walking out and gingerly stepping around the wires. He made his way to the door and dashed into his bedroom to retrieve his uniform. (There had been a good reason why his computer lab was separate from his bedroom. Several incidents with the amount of wires he had had caused quite a few sprains and breaks.) Kiyoshi’s nose wrinkled when he finally was able to pull the uniform out of his closet. He sniffed at the offensive outfit before pulling it on anyway. Oh well, it was uncomfortable, just exceptionally annoying.

As he was turning around to find his backpack his foot caught on something. It felt like paper, and he was sure had it not caught him by surprise and just so he wouldn’t have fallen as gracelessly as he did. But he did, and as a result went down with a rather unattractive ‘oomph!’ and succeeded in falling right on his nose. Kiyoshi groaned, especially when he heard the sound of cartilage popping. Now his nose would be sore for the rest of the day. Oh joy. The boy flipped over to glare menacingly at the object that had done something so brave as to dare make him fall on his face. This annoyance was overtaken immediately with his utter surprise. In the middle of the floor, right next to his outstretched left foot, was a letter. What surprised him most wasn’t that there was a letter (though it still was rather surprising. He wasn’t used to snail mail, emails were about all he got nowadays.) but it was the fact that it had somehow managed to wind up in his bedroom. And on his floor no doubt. Curiosity piqued, he gingerly picked up the envelope and flipped it over to read the front. From God was all it said. If he hadn’t have had all those long conversations with the damn man all those years ago he would have taken it for a joke. And in actually he did, giving a short sneeze of a laugh before tearing it open and letting it’s contents drop into his hand. The first thing he examined was the pentagram. Kiyoshi took the string between his index and middle finger and let it dangle, staring at it as the small charm swayed slowly in midair. After determining it wasn’t harmful and there wasn’t any inscription on it, he snorted and jerked it upward so the pentagram flew up into his awaiting hand. After securing it within his palm he carefully unfolded the letter to read. And snorted as soon as he was finished.

The contents hadn’t been something he wanted to hear. To know that he had the power to seal a demon was not something he wanted. Kiyoshi had counted himself pretty powerful, more so than any normal human anyway. Not that he looked like it, nor did almost anything he’d ever done point to this fact. (It wasn’t wrong to keep a low profile, he believed. If he had shown any true potential as a child his brother would have never left him alone.) But it had reminded him of being ‘Chosen’ which had reminded him that he was in a group, which reminded him that he actually had to work with people. It wouldn’t have bothered him as much if he didn’t know that those people were counting on him in some way. He hated having to be tied down to something, despised it with his whole being. This was one of the reasons he had never actually been in a relationship, be it friendly, familial, or romantic. It was tedious, time-consuming, and took a lot of energy he didn’t have and wasn’t willing to give. In short it was unwanted and uncalled for. He didn’t understand why he was chosen anyway. He didn’t want power, he had no real need for anything other than his ability to run and his hacking skills. The power he did have, controlling sound, wasn’t something he was able to use at will anyway. The strain, the awful ungodly strain, left him weak and bruised for days. Unable to even stand up without the help of someone. It was a pathetic sight, he recalled, an exceptionally pathetic one. Not to mention the constant ability to see and pick out sound waves. It was horrible, if he didn‘t concentrate he could see them, moving, waving at him even, as they left people‘s mouths, traveled from their shoes, arrived from the movement or collision of anything. “Pathetic indeed,” he breathed. At that Kiyoshi snorted and picked himself up off the floor. He was becoming annoyed with himself. Annoyed with the fact that he had reminded himself of everything that made him weak and everything he hated himself for. He swore, he was becoming more girly by the day; a touchy subject, one that made him cringe just thinking about it. Which reminded him about his hair.

Kiyoshi snorted as he attempted to run his hand through his locks. His fingers snagged halfway down, an indicator that he would need to actually brush it today or risk having a huge rats nest in it. He swore and debated for the fourth time that month about cutting it. It wasn’t like he would miss them anyway, the annoyingly vibrant red strands of hair. And then he remembered why it was he kept it long, and that he loved their color no matter how much he complained about it. And that it was the one good thing about himself he enjoyed. Shaking himself out of his thoughts the boy picked himself up off the floor and made his way to the dresser. After he ran the brush quickly through his hair, only enough to untangle the big knots, he grabbed his bag and ran downstairs to snatch up a bagel and run out the door. He almost forgot to lock up, and swore between the mouthful of bagel before pulling his key out and turning around to resume his running. He was already running slightly late, he didn’t need to miss his train and effectively miss his chances of being on time. That would not go over well with the family. Thoughts of his family returned his mind to school, which made him think of his group, which made him remember the letter. He mulled over it for a few minutes as he stepped onto the train, and was shaken out of his thoughts as he realized he was holding on to something. Kiyoshi looked down and stared at the pentagram, having forgotten he was still holding it as he ran out the door. The boy stared for a few moments before remembering himself. He snorted and pocketed it, glaring at the window as if it was it’s fault he had done something as stupid as taking a weird-looking necklace with him. Maybe he could pawn it off on some girl later on. That thought was dashed quickly though when he remembered that God had given it to him, and he had always been rather touchy when his directions and orders weren’t followed to a T. Kiyoshi had had quite a few experiences with that side of the God. Enough to know that both of them were sick of having to deal with it, and that if he pushed anything they weren’t sure who was going to be more sorry.

After about twenty minutes of trying not to get pushed into the window, and another fifteen of jumping off the offending train and making a dash (though it was a casual dash. He’d be damned if someone found him rushing to something like school.) towards school, he found himself at the front gates. Surrounded by several bright-eyed and excited students. There were a few who looked as annoyed as he felt, but they weren’t nearly as plentiful as the ones who were a little too happy for his taste. Kiyoshi hiked his bag up higher before snorting in annoyance and stalking towards the front doors. At least inside he’d be able to get a little peace and quiet. He could always take a nap during the president’s speech, it was never hard to do. This thought brought an arrogant smirk to his features and he accidentally let out a snicker. Ah yes, the president. The wonderful president whose mask had never seemed quite as perfect as he seemed to believe. The amazing president who had quite a nasty secret under his not-so-air-tight mask. Kiyoshi suddenly found a new burst of energy, and couldn’t deny the wave of excitement that suddenly washed over him. This excitement followed him through the corridors and into the auditorium where he took his seat and sat there in all his arrogance. He crossed his arms and legs and his head cocked slightly in anticipation for Karasu. When the boy stepped onto the stage he didn’t disappoint.

The whole speech was blown out his a**. Kiyoshi could tell. He had always been able to tell these kinds of things. The way his sound waves would waver slightly, and stop for half a beat only helped him to figure this out. What fun he would have, holding this above president’s nose as well. Not only was a liar, a rather bad one at that, though he seemed to have the rest of the school thoroughly deceived, but he was also a horrible planner. As the speech wore on Kiyoshi had to continuously hold back his laughter. Who was Karasu kidding anyway? Of all of them, he was probably the most likely to disregard the whole speech. It sounded like bullshit, and from the boy’s real nature Kiyoshi was positive they were in agreement with this. He finally did let out a snicker, one that didn’t go unnoticed by the people around him for they all gave him disapproving and annoyed looks. ‘All new,’ he decided, and upon further inspection was proven wrong. There apparently were still a few who had that same air of naïvete as they had last year. He sighed and shook his head wearily before returning to half listening to the speech. Perhaps when this was over he would be able to approach Karasu. He already knew the boy knew about him. Those dirty glances that came his way all the time couldn’t be for something else. But they had never formally talked about the knowledge being in the air and Kiyoshi found himself surprisingly amused by the whole ordeal. “Oh president dearest, what will your move be?” he asked, to no one in particular though those same classmates all gave him weird glances again.

The nice feeling of sleep never really did bother Sonny. It actually made her happy being able to sleep comfortably in her bed. too bad she wasn`t in it. In a matter of moments she expected her alarm to go off she tried to get the few seconds she had to sleep. Soon enough the loudness of a song started to blast in her headphones, ripping off the head phones the eighteen year old rose from her desk, small pieces of paper stuck to her face. Brushing them off Sonny rubbed her eyes, looking up at the bulletin board next to her computer it was September first. Looking up she started thinking, I swear I have something to do today ? Rubbing her head, she rose off the warm computer chair and wandered into the bathroom. Looking in the mirror she decided to take a shower, wake up, and think about what she had to do. She would eventually remember no doubt. Twisting the shower knob, the shower took a good fifteen minutes. Looking up while the water ran down her face she finally remembered. "First day of school" Ah, yes good job Sonny, now with sense of urgency she hurried out the shower. Looking around she frantically searched for a towel, finding one she dried her hair and wrapped it around her body. Rushing to her room she looked at how much time she had, about an hour, sighing she could slow down. She was already worrying she would be late, knowing her mum would laugh at it she would feel embarrassed for about five minutes. Walking over to her bed she got dressed in the school uniform. Hanging the towel on the rail outside her window, she could only hope it won`t get blown away or rain. her mom would be pissed. Turning on her heels she still needed her stockings and tie - the feel of the uniform brought back memories. Looking at the doors she felt paper under her foot and heard a slight crumble, looking down at the now slightly wrinkled envelope that was next to her desk or even her second bed since she fell asleep on it as many times as she sleep in her actual bed. Finally realzing the wording on it - it read 'From God' raising an eyebrow maybe her mum was trying to pull a fast one on her. Setting it down she pulled her stockings on, and fastened her tie. Looking back down at the envelope it was worth a look, eh? Maybe she might even laugh ? Even though chances at that were pretty low, knowing her mother`s humor.

Opening the letter she started to believe it really was from the gods. Tilting her head as she read, she was to capture demons and find the god of god. Frowning she didn`t really understand everything. Sighing she decided to just take it to school, she was probably still tired resulting this misunderstanding. Maybe it`s some little club thing, and it got mailed to the wrong address. Who knows, shrugging she put it in a folder and inserted the folder in her bag along with her other school materials that she would end up leaving there. Walking downstairs with ipod in hand and bag on her back, she looked around seeing her mother cleaning the kitchen. Geez, she was such a neat freak. Nothing was dirty and whenever Sonny cleaned the kitchen she would go back and clean it again. Walking towards the doorway of the kitchen she was immediately warned - "I just washed the floor." Sighing she walked in she didn`t have shoes on so nothing crucial would happen. "So, first day of school, huh?" looking down as if she were ashamed it was true she nodded and responded in a dull tone "yes." This small and unexcited comment happened to make her mother turn from washing dishes. 'Oh cheer up it can`t be that bad Sonny." Biting her bottom lip she looked out the window some students were already walking to school. She had twenty minutes left and it was a mere ten minute walk away. Maybe she should eat something ? Looking at the table her breakfast was already made and looked as if it were just made, can`t waste good food right ? Taking her place in front of the food she said a small prayer and began to eat -"Before you come home today could you pick up those new lamps I ordered ?" Just as Sonny bit into her breakfast she pushed the food to the side of her mouth, cover it with a napkin she mumbled out, Why can`t you ?" Though like most teenagers she wasn`t asking in a harsh way just simply curious. "Cause I asked you Tomorrow.", deciding she was going to lose this battle she nodded her head "sure." She replied obediently. Finishing up her breakfast she had less than fifteen minutes, carrying her plate to the sink she kissed her mother`s cheek and said "well, I`m gonna leave now." Nodding her mother took the plate and stacked it on the pile of other 'dirty' dishes. "Don`t forget about my lamps." she added in before Sonny exited the kitchen.

Grabbing the uniform`s jacket she walked into her room studying herself her full length mirror. Sighing, she decided she was already for school, not mentally but hell she looked like she was ready. Putting her headphones in she walked downstairs again this time leaving the house only to be greeted by the cold breezes hitting Sonny`s face. Looking around small groups of students walked they all looked very happy and excited. Sonny still being quite tired wanted to go back inside and huddle back into her nice toasty bed. But, know that wouldn`t happen she started her journey onward to school. Turning on her ipod the song fully alive by Flyleaf resumed from listening to it yesterday, quietly humming along to the rhythm she looked back to see if anyone was following her, nothing. It was natural human curiosity and Sonny being Sonny had tons of it. Minutes rolled by and she`d nearly heard half of her favorite songs. Sighing she was going to surely miss her summer even though it was partially filled with disappointment. She couldn`t think of a lot of art ideas and only finished about five out of the fifteen drawings she wanted to finish. Sighing at thought she remembered all the training in the summer she went through just to enhance her powers. Though she think they have gotten better her team begs to differ. Only time will tell until she actually gets into a real fight with someone else with powers. Shivers ran down her spine at the thought of fighting someone else. She hated fighting, unless it was fully nessicary. But, even then she would feel uncomfortable, especially if it was someone extremely stronger than her. Even though some people hated her for it, but she would probably run off and hide until they felt some sympathy for the shy little nerd. Sighing again, she hated her skittish ways too but needed to get over them, so wasn`t that weak nor was she all high and mighty strong. Pfft, if she could be hercules for a day she would go around and kick everyone`s a**, then leave for eternity for all the ones that hold grudges and would want revenge which would most likely be all of them. Vanishing from her memories she was making good time taking out her cell phone she checked the time, like she thought earlier she was making good time like she always does everyday. She never really missed a day of school and even her mother asked her if she wants to go to school and she would call her in sick for the day. Some might call her mother cool for that but, she`s looking out for her she`s cool indeed but, only on rare days will Sonny miss a day of school.

Looking around she realized she was on school grounds and before she knew it, the opening ceremony was to begin. Hearing the opening speech was always amusing sometimes it was so apparent that even the president didn`t care or was bored by it. Though thinking back to freshman when she attended the first opening ceremony the president was full of energy very excited and smiley. He was probably the best president this school will ever have, he`s probably already or no actually is in the college section of the school now. Looking around she had nothing to do but, wait a blur of voices mixed with laughing, cheers, and shouting names surrounded Sonny as she tried to narrow them down to certain voices to see if she could recognize them and pair a face with those voices. It wasn`t like she was eavesdropping on anyone - or even meant to do it purposely but, one voice just stood out. It was a girl and she never heard her voice before I got a letter from him over the summer it - Letter. thinking back she still didn`t quite understand the envelope left in her room this morning. Slowly taking it out of her bag she opened it again, she walked slowly weaving through the crowd of fellow peers. reading the words over and over she still couldn`t get it. The words didn`t make much sense or she still wasn`t in the state of mind in which she could understand simply knowledge. Sighing, a rather harsh breeze blew by, taking the letter from her hand. Looking at where it was heading she stuffed the envelope in her bag and ran after the letter, as it made it`s was across the crowd. Sonny could only hope she wouldn`t lose it, regretting already that she had taken it out of the envelope she continued to follow the letter and saw it start to drop in the crowd of people. Crap She thought as it disappeared within` the crowd, hearing the president start speaking she sighed, trying to make her way through the crowd in the way she thought the letter flew. Looking on the ground she finally seen it again, following it again after her first step she stopped. Seeing long blue hair as her eyes ascended up the boy`s body she finally realized who it was. Toshitaka Ukita. Blinking a few times she watched as he bent down to retrieve the letter - when he stood again with letter in hand is was pretty obvious it was hers and she was just standing here like an idiot. Nervous waves swallowed her and the absent minded Sonny came forth. Looking off the side a little a slight pinkish blush taking the color of her cheeks. "oh. . . um. th-the letter . . . . it`s mine." she said it as if it were a bad thing. He looked at it like he`d seen it before but, she wasn`t sure. Just as the seconds passed she started up a pretty common and bad habit of hers whenever she gets nervous. Fidgeting with her fingers and looking anywhere but at the source making her shy.

No doubt she has this crush going for him but, it was something she tried to ignore just so she could actually say a complete sentence to him. Think think think Sonny! She was brain dead and could only review the things she just said, was she harsh? Or just over reacting her never gave her a hard time or even said anything to hurt her - just the fact that he always seemed to make her so nervous and then she would go home and just make more petty drawings about little stupid things. Trying to come out with another sentence - nothing she just simply opened her mouth the word were trapped within` the narrowness of her throat. Her small voices probably only sounded like mumbles to him but, he didn`t have to answer her. She would go home and re-imagine how the situation went be satisfied and fall asleep either on her desk or bed. Ah, yes what a nice way to start this school year her last until she enters the college for art. she glanced up at him and simply put her hands behind her back - unable to retrieve them. Starting this day and forgetting about the beginning would be nice. Just get the letter and carry on Sonny, it`s not that hard. COME ON ! She found herself yelling at her - looking at him and back to the side she couldn`t find the words to ask him for the letter. Maybe it really wasn`t that important. Nodding, she smiled and mouthed the word 'good day'. Turning on her heels quickly she tried her hardest to get lost in the crowd she hadn`t listened to a word of the presidents speech well, besides the opening part. Other than that it was all lost in the blur of students who didn`t seem to get the point to be quiet while the president was talking. But, who cared he himself didn`t even care about the speech, anyone who paid attention to atleast three sentences of his 'speech' could easily tell her was making it up as he went. Bullshitting up things to satisfy the board and principle. Nice.

Finally finding her way in a seat she finally started to listen to the speech, even though she could tell it was coming to a close - only to break this nervous grip on her which did in fact start to fade off. Getting comfortable her face setting with no emotion she couldn`t help but wonder what he would do with the letter. She could only wish she could run back to him and get it back, but she would have more awkward moments and unless she didn`t want to hate herself she would stay put and just ordinarily go to her first class and shut the hell up. Rubbing her eyes now she had a chance to think about what the words said. Too bad she couldn`t read them and try to understand now she had to remember. Ignoring her surroundings she had a pretty good memory and wanted to try and figure it out. Why the hell was she being so damn retarded ? Finally getting the whole thing she would have several questions later - damn Sonny are you simple ? The gods wanted her and the other chosen ones to send the demons back and find this missing god. They don`t even know if he`s out there and that letter sealed the demons away. Dammit. Knowing that now she needed the letter. Now it was essential. Playing with the tips of her hair she wished she wouldn`t have tried to understand it while she was outside. Sighing now she was in deep s**t. What if some demon came out of no friggin` where and attack her ? She`d be screwed, typical dumbass Sonny didn`t have the nuts to get a letter back. Arguing with herself she finally realized the crowd in the auditorium was leaving, on her way out she absent mindedly grabbed a newspaper for the school and headed off to her first class. Finally arriving in class, she took a spot near the back - things in the beginning of the year was normally review so she didn`t really need to pay much attention she knew the basic academic structure they were planting in the students mind. God she needed that letter. The thought of being ambushed by some demon seemed to get to her more than it should`ve. Now she just started hoping she knew at least some people in her classes. She didn`t even bother looking at the newspaper too wrapped up in the thought of her letter that needed to be retrieved. Eventually he would give it back - right ?

you’re being so cruel leaving me like this.
please don’t leave.
look back at me at least once on your way.
love has broken my heart.

Like every morning before, the sun rose later than the dark-haired boy. It’s tender, soft rays of light crept across the rooftop, chasing down the shadows that the moon left behind; all the while, the blue eyes watched with patient fascination. Tern waited one more hour; thoughtfully watching the entire golden sphere pulled itself out from the horizon and then begin its trek across the sky the entire time. It began to brighten, and Tern averted his eyes, letting them drop closed sleepily. At exactly six thirty, he heard the door to his room open. A moment later, a soft voice came from the small window, ”Hibari, today’s your first day of school. Kimi said to get moving. If you’ve got a problem with that, take it up with her yourself.” Receiving no reply, Mai padded across the thick carpet, knowing full well that Tern could hear her go, a fact that should be impossible, but none of the sisters complained. After all, they loved and doted on their little brother too much to be anything but proud.

For a moment, it seemed as if the statue hadn’t heard. There was an obvious lack of movement, except for the morning breeze that brushed back Tern’s hair. After another long heartbeat, Tern stood up, sighing as he did. He brushed himself off, though he was just wearing long pants that hung low on his narrow hips. Running a hand through his hair, he stepped to the edge of the building, peering down the vertical plane to the world that was only just beginning to wake up. A thin sneer of disgust touched his thin lips. He purposefully zoned out the world around him when he watched the sunrise. The presence of other people would just ruin the entire thing. Tern’s only request when the family moved out of the house in the rural areas was to live in an apartment building with a clear view to the East and West. ‘Easily done,’ had been his father’s response and Tern was satisfied. But now, a new foundation for a skyrise was being built only a few blocks away. Well, not if Tern could help it. His gaze narrowed as he looked down at the lifeless construction machines that cast long shadows across the gravelly ground. And then, suddenly breaking the spell of brooding darkness, he turned around, yawning as he did so.

He made his way to the window, sticking one leg through the hole, then ducking his head to get his torso in, followed after by his other leg. Again, he brushed the nonexistent dust off his body, before making his way to the bathroom. In actuality, it was the size of three bathrooms. The apartment building was on the small side, but the Sarentia family had bought out the entire building, doing construction on the dilapidated thing before it was livable; Tern got the entire top floor. Most of the walls had been knocked down and everything reformatted, including the bathroom. Stepping inside, Tern stripped, relishing the cold, but hurrying nonetheless into the large gray marble shower. He stood in the downpour silently, letting cold water rush down over his body like a summer storm. Another special addition to Tern’s personal accommodations. He took his time in there, and finally exited twenty minutes later, dripping wet. Taking a towel, he wrapped it around his waist before exiting the bathroom and entering the closet. He ruffled through clothes with mild disinterest, finally selecting a white collared shirt and dark pants. Pulling the clothes on, he slung the towel over his shoulders to catch the dripping water from his hair, then moved over to a small drawer. From within the drawer, he pulled out three hairclips. With one hand, he pinned back his wet hair, clearing his dark blue eyes. A glance in the mirror, and regardless of what he saw, he made his way towards the single exit, a large double door painted a deep red. He left his room, making his way to the single flight of stairs that crossed the entire building. As he made his way down, a feat which took about five minutes, he played with the sleeves of his shirt, folding and unfolding them, buttoning and then opening it. By the time he got downstairs, he had folded them up his arms for the seventh time. But that fact was lost as he sniffed the air appreciatively. Maybe the only good part about the first day of school was the breakfast that Kaori and Mai made. Kimiko couldn’t cook at all, but she would sit at the table, keeping her younger sisters company as they worked. As he entered the room, four pairs of eyes drifted up to look at him.

Emotionlessly, he looked back at his family until they had all returned to eating. He sat down, a water droplet trickling down his neck as he did so. Clutching the chopsticks in his hands, he muttered a small thanks for the food, before taking a small, delicate bite. The family ate in silence, until with a sudden flurry of movement, the only other man at the table stood up. Sora, their father, spoke, ”Well…I’m off. Thanks for the food, my angels.” He smiled, dotingly upon his three daughters who returned his thanks in their own way: Kimiko merely shrugged, Mai dipped her head, and Kaori got up to see him to the door. When she returned, only Tern was still left sitting at the table, and she laughed at the sight of him chewing amiably with a lazy look in his eye. She bent down next to him, only to give him a quick peck on the cheek before gathering up the rest of the dishes on the low table. ”Hibari, don’t skip school. It’s your first day.” She added a small flick of her eyes in the direction of the kitchen, where Kimiko was doing dishes. Tern smiled thinly, nodding his head in full understanding. If he were to skip school, it would only be asking for a beating from his eldest nee-chan. It wasn’t that he couldn’t beat a female; of course he could. It was just, he couldn’t beat her. Or any of his sisters for that matter. They were indispensible.

As far as anyone could tell, those three were the only girls Tern had eyes for. Everyone else was clumped into one massive group of ‘annoying’. Kimiko appeared out of the kitchen, drying her hands roughly with a towel. Finished, she tossed the towel behind her nonchalantly and then kneeled at the breakfast table once more, this time, directly across from Tern. Without warning, she slammed both hands on the table, a loud thud resounding through the room. Tern didn’t flinch, his eyes closed and his mouth still chewing.
”Hibari, don’t you even think about skipping. I’m assuming Kao-chan already reminded you what might happen.” To emphasize her threat, she leaned over, reaching out to pinch Tern’s cheek. He stopped chewing, his eyes opening to glare at Kimi and in a swift motion, he slapped her arm away before she could even touch him. ”I’m not going to cut. Just go to work, nee-sama, you’re already late.” Kimi mimicked his glare, albeit, hers had a strong air of suspicion about it. Really, the “-sama” was complete overkill. Not that she minded; it was about time Tern began to respect her and obey like a little servant dog. Rising to her feet, she reached out once more and this time, Tern didn’t stop her. She ruffled his hair, the tension in the room melting away subtly. ”Have a good day, Hibari. Don’t come home too late, Mai is cooking tonight and knowing her, she’s going to make a buffet to celebrate your first day back at school.” She smiled down at Tern, the affection in her expression brightening her face. In response, the man just shrugged dispassionately, but his elder sister knew what that meant and her smile grew slightly wider. Without needing to say anything else, she called out to the kitchen, ”I’m going now! Work hard today!” and then disappeared into the hall.

Mai and Kaori both appeared at the same time, each of them with their school bags over their shoulders. The youngest, Kaori skipped into the hall without another word to Tern, calling over her shoulder, ”Sorry! I’ve got club activities to take care of before school! I’ll be going now!” A bit more footsteps, a door slam, and then the sound of her rattling down the stairs. Only when Mai couldn’t hear anything else did she finally address her only brother. She looked at him carefully, her delicate lips pressed together as she composed her thoughts, before she finally said, ” Kimi-nee and Kao-chan took all of the words.” She smiled sweetly, but then again, everything about Mai was sweet. She was strong, quiet and polite. Tern felt the most similar to her, but it was that same quietness that he possessed that kept them strongly independent from one another. Mai was more like a queen, while Kaori was a princess. And that only left the job of dictator of the world to Kimi. Which matched her rather perfectly…
”Mmm…” was all Tern said in reply.
”Have a good first day, ne, Hibari?” With that said, she bent to kiss him on the forehead before she serenely and soundlessly strolled out the door.

With the house finally empty, Tern stopped eating. He rose to his feet, picking up the empty rice bowl and the small tray of toppings. Carrying them to the kitchen, he dumped them into the sink, and then made his way back to his room upstairs. At his own floor, he didn’t pause long. Instead, he made his way to the desk that dominated one side of the floor and picked up the bag that hung on the back of the chair. He slung that over his shoulder, then made his exit, taking his time as he walked down the stairs. He bypassed the elevator, choosing instead the narrow flight of stairs that traversed the entire building. The monotonous pattern the sound of his footsteps echoed and it was easy to just let his mind fall blank, free of any thoughts. If he had been thinking, he would have realized that by the time he got to the first floor and walked through the lobby, he only had ten minutes to get to school before the opening ceremonies began. But, Tern didn’t care, and even if he did realize, he wouldn’t have changed his easy-going pace.

He walked through the town, his bag slung over his shoulder, hooked on one finger. He cut through a small playground park, yawning widely as he strode across the grassy area. Suddenly, he paused, the hand at his mouth slowly dropping to his side. ”You’re coming with me today?” he asked, seemingly speaking to the air. The park itself was empty, completely deserted. Except for the eerie creaking of the swings in the breeze that sprung up, everything was silent, too. Tern waited, saying nothing else, and instead looked up into the sky. A small yellow bird caught his eye, winging down in tightening circles until it had completed a full circuit around the man’s body. Tern’s lip twitched, but maybe that was just a trick of the light. ”Well, let’s go.” He began walking again, the small bird following with small, uneven beats of its tiny feathered wings. Down the street, Tern made his way. Everything was practically abandoned, he was more than late now. Perhaps the teachers wouldn’t let him on campus if he was this late. At that thought, he paused, his walk slowing to a halt. After a moment, he sighed loudly, as much to the bird as to himself. ”Well, let’s go.” He glanced at the small yellow bird, before suddenly, the tall man vanished.

No one was around to see Tern’s sudden disappearance. Well, truthfully, it wasn’t so much disappearance as it was just a sudden increase in speed. Turning into the wind was only a figure of speech. It wasn’t possible in most circumstances. All Tern did was just break into a run. And that run brought him to the gates of the school within a few seconds. He looked over his shoulder, scanning the sky. When he saw no sign of yellow, he turned away, heading leisurely towards the auditorium. The school grounds were as deserted as the park had been and Tern felt a twinge of annoyance run through him. It would be better for him to just lie down in some tucked away corner of the school, than go to this assembly. These school-wide meetings were just a waste of time, packing body heat all into one room, just to kill everyone with boredom. But nonetheless, his attendance was required and Tern unenthusiastically made his way towards the large building. Just as he reached the door, he heard a chirp in his ear. ”Oh, good. You made it,” he murmured, unable to keep the sarcasm out of his tone. But the bird just hopped contentedly on his shoulder, unable to understand. Grasping the door handle, he pulled it open, ignoring the obnoxious squeak the door released as Tern stepped inside. There was some guy up on the stage. Tern couldn’t remember if he had ever seen him before. It wasn’t like Tern’s memory sucked, it was just that he truly didn’t care for anyone other than his sisters and his father. Spotting a seat, Tern stretched his legs out in front of him, slouching lazily. He yawned once more, then promptly closed his eyes and tried to get some sleep.

Her head hurt. God did her head hurt so bad.

Kaoruko cracked open sleepy eyes, squeezing them back shut almost immediately when the offending light invaded. She brought her legs in, curling herself into a tiny ball underneath the sheets. Her small hands clutched wildly at the sheets, pulling them as close as she could around her, burying herself within them. She had dreamed last night, long and vivid. So vivid in fact, that she had tossed and turned madly in her sleep. Had thrown her head back and screamed, and had clawed parts of her upper arms raw. The girl had awoken in a cold sweat, frightened and sore, and ultimately terrified of the prospect of sleep. And yet sleep was the only solace she had from the madness of her dreams. The only escape because it was only through sleep that she didn’t have to think about them, nor what they might foretell. When she slept most of the time, the only thing that greeted her was the inky blackness of the back of her eyelids. Kaoruko squeazed her eyes tighter, trying to both forget and block out the offending sunlight at once. Perhaps if she fiercely believed it to just be another part of the dream, it would come true and she would be allowed to sleep again. If she could sleep again, then it would all go away. She never dreamed twice in a row. The only time she had had the misfortune of that had been the day the piano had burned. The lovely piano that held all her love, and been taken away just as quickly as she had given herself to it. Fate was crueler more often than it dared to show kindness. And the subconscious was always quick to remind of this fact.

She had dreamed of losing herself. Not literally, because you can’t actually lose yourself without dying. The closest thing to actually losing oneself would be insanity, but even then it’s not completely literal. No, what the girl dreamed of was losing her sense of humanness. Of being a human altogether. Kaoruko had gone into that frightful stage of giving over to her animal instincts, becoming that animal in body, heart, and finally mind. It had almost happened to her once. She had come so close to the edge, had almost fallen off, and had only been saved by being shocked back into a human by the realization that she had forgotten how to speak. The very memory of it sent shivers down her spine and she let out a small mixture between a gasp and a cry in defiance and fear. She didn’t want to remember, she didn’t want to think. All she wanted to do was fall back into the abyss called sleep, and forget to think at all. It was so much easier when you couldn’t think. She was unable to do this though, and was interrupted by a knock on her door and the accompanying, “Rei, it’s time to get up. You’ll be late if you don’t.” The girl bit her lip and stifled a groan. She attempted to push herself up, but the movement resulted in her rubbing against, and putting pressure on the raw patches on her arms. Kaoruko winced and let out a long hiss. Upon further inspection she found that she had even managed to break the skin in a few places.

The girl clucked her tongue and continued to get up. Though this time she did it with much more care, and much slower. With a yawn she slung her legs over the side of the bed and lifted her arms above her head to stretch. The white cami she was wearing had managed to bunch up, and twist around her body, and she found herself having to straighten it out before standing up. Kaoruko yawned again, covering her mouth lazily with the back of her hand. Her long hair trailed off the bed after her, swishing at her ankles as it fell gracefully down. She ran her hand through the top of them, spreading her fingers to work out the smaller knots that had formed. A sudden realization come to mind and the girl frantically threw her hands out in front of her, splaying her fingers wide to see them better. If she had clawed herself yesterday, there was a good chance that her fingers had been harmed. After close scrutiny she determined that no harm had come to them though. A pleased sigh escaped her lips and she found herself almost sagging from the relief. The girl let out a breath of a chuckle before beginning to head towards the closet. That damn, ugly uniform wasn’t going to put itself on her.

It was when she was halfway through a step that her foot met with a different material than the carpet. Kaoruko frowned in disapproval and moved her foot back to keep from crushing the object further. What her eyes met with was an envelope. Her expression went from annoyed to confused and she bent down to sit on her heels to get a better look. She leaned against her knees as she gingerly picked up the envelope and turned it over to read the addressee. ‘God’ it read. A wave of uneasiness overtook her and Kaoruko found herself unwilling to open it. What if it told her to do something horrible. What if he wanted her to quit playing the piano altogether? Or worse yet, what if he wanted her to do something to her fingers. The mere thought of harm coming to her fingers made her almost drop the letter and she had to catch herself quickly so as not to fall over. Gulping, Kaoruko slipped her finger under the flap and gently tore the envelope open. She pushed aside the envelope and gingerly picked out the contents with her index and middle fingers. What was revealed was a letter and a pentagram. She disregarded the necklace at first, placing it on the floor as she repositioned herself into a seated position, legs crossed into a pretzel. To say she was confused by the time she was done reading, would have been a huge understatement. Power? That’s all she had gotten from the letter. She was able to seal a demon’s power with the necklace. She gently touched the small pendent again, screwing her face into a contemplative glare, as if thinking it would explain itself. With a snort she uncrossed her legs and began to stand up again, grabbing the necklace on the way so she wouldn’t have to bend down to get it. Another yawn escaped and Kaoruko decided she didn’t want to deal with it until after her shower. Maybe then she’d be awake enough to understand it.

She made her way to the bathroom, depositing the letter and pentagram on her desk before getting there. Kaoruko turned on the water and stripped, stepping gingerly into the shower when it had warmed up enough. The hot water soothed her, as well as woke her up. But she winced several times and she couldn’t stay in as long as she wanted for the water only turned the pain in her arms from a dull ache to an impossible to ignore fire. “Damn baby,” she snarled, as she flipped off the water and pulled herself out of the shower. They hurt until she made her way to the cabinets and managed to find some balm. The undeniable fact that they still hurt nagged her though; reminding her that they would hurt all day. It was all such a bother. The girl sniffed and glared at the mirror as she retrieved her brush off the bathroom counter and started on her hair. When finished she pulled them up into her signature pigtails, snorting when she screwed up and was forced to redo one. It took her a total of fifteen minutes to get ready, surprising for a girl, especially since she always ended up looking cute. It was the fact that she refused to spend time on makeup that helped her though. A good thing since she rarely was in the proper situation to wear it. Kaoruko exited the bathroom and finally managed to find her closet, throwing it open and snatching her uniform out in one swift motion. She was quick to throw it on, and was fully prepared to leave when her eyes landed on the pentagram. The girl paused and thought for a moment. While in the shower she had thought about the letter and what it entailed. It would allow her to seal a demon’s power? Well that was great and all, but she refused to believe demons existed. It was an asinine thought; who in their right mind would believe it? But it had nagged her, and she never did like having something do that to her. It was troublesome for something to make her think for too long. Troublesome indeed.

Without thinking she snatched the necklace up and undid the string. She pulled it against her neck and tied the necklace into a choker, letting the pentagram hang at the base of her neck, bringing attention to the creamy skin there. Satisfied with that, especially now that the nagging feeling was gone, she took her leave of the room. “Rei, eat your breakfast before you leave,” was what greeted her when she had finally found herself at the bottom of the stairs. The girl looked up into her mother’s face and smiled. “Yeah mom, got it.” She snatched the muffin on her father’s plate, ignoring his startled and annoyed cry, and waved it at her mother to show she was eating. The woman just sighed and gave her a laughing smile before waving her daughter out the door. “Have a good day!” she called as Kaoruko grabbed her bag and walked out. As soon as she was out of range of the house the girl dropped her happy façade. Who were her parents kidding? The whole family happiness was such a lie. Stability was the only thing they were trying for anymore. They never knew when something else could destroy their happiness, something else that would make their precious daughter into what she should be, an actual daughter. She angrily bit into the muffin, coughing when she realized that it was banana. She hated banana muffins, didn’t know why since she loved both bananas and muffins; but as a combination she found it horrible.

Kaoruko found herself in a horrible mood the whole way to school. It was a good thing she only lived twenty minutes away, because by the time she reached the front gates she was afraid she would have beat up an innocent passerby with her pent-up frustration. She dug her fingers further into the fabric of her backpack strap, glaring her way through the throng of rushing students. It was like her aura screamed madness. Several students, once turning around and getting a good look at who she was, stepped out of her way immediately. Only the ones who didn’t know her were stupid enough to stay in her way. This was remedied by her fist connecting with the gut of the first person who bumped into her. It was like the parting of the red sea after that. All of the new students were terrified of her already. ‘Just wait ‘till you kids hear what I’m really famous for,’ she sniffed, a sneer flickering across her lips. But all of this wasn’t enough to relieve her of her frustration. The dream, her arms, the letter, her anger at the façade that made up her home life, it had all built up into a ball of irritation and the only way she knew how to get rid of it was through violence. The thought that she could just talk it out never crossed her mind (and why would it? Talking things out required one to use their mind and she wasn’t prepared to have to think that hard about it.) and if it had, it would have been shot down instantly. There wouldn’t have been anyone to talk it over with.

This whole thing only grew as she walked through the front doors. By the time she had finally reached the auditorium it had managed to grow into something she couldn’t hold in anymore. To add to her already overflowing irritation, she was late, and several of the people in the back were giving her dirty looks. She snorted at them, as if doing so would instigate the fear she wanted, and the ones that already knew her gave her the desired reaction of quickly turning around and pretending they hadn’t seen her. A wave of satisfaction overtook her and for a moment it seemed as if the ball of anger had left her stomach. But it quickly returned and Kaoruko felt herself itching to punch something once more. Her eyes landed on an open seat and the girl bolted for it. Desperate to seat herself and get this whole thing over with. It was only after she had declared that seat hers and settled herself that she realized who she was sitting by. The girl was shocked, and in this shock almost succeeded in slipping off the end of her chair. The anger dissipated at once, overturned by her surprise. She had seated herself next to Tern; the stubborn, anti-social boy who had shown himself to be one of the only people able to rival her in created fear. It was amazing how she hadn’t noticed his presence, especially since the two of them had developed quite the hatred of each other. And in this annoyance developed another irritation. An irritation at herself for not having noticed, and an embarrassment that she had been so stupid in doing so. And then her eyes settled on the bird on his shoulder and the dream came to mind once more. It all bubbled up and she broke. Not knowing any other way to deal with it, and because it was the only thing she really knew how to do, Kaoruko couldn’t stop herself from picking a fight.

“You do know you’re not supposed to sleep during this,” she snorted, slouching down in her chair. She needed his reaction to take away the embarrassment. If he could get mad, then she would get mad in return, and all her frustration would be wiped clean with the one big argument. “Then again,” she continued, “you never were that great with remembering directions were you.” She had an edge of superiority in her voice. As if she found herself smarter than him in some way. But because of this she felt a sort of liberation. This would be good for her. Anything would be good for her, if she could take her mind off of everything and focus on fighting this one boy.

He enjoyed sleeping almost as much as fighting. He'd usually sleep a lot and during the day, he'd take a lot of short naps in weird places, because that was just normal for him. And yet, he had no bigger problems with waking up early. Guess he was just simply used to it, and unlike some brats, he wouldn't moan when it came to waking up. Oh well, not that anyone would be able to hear him anyway. He lived alone in a medium-sized apartment, working his a** off to survive and all that s**t... Well, not really. He was a trainer in a Kendo club and he was getting some good money for teaching kids how to swing their swords. When he was really out of money, he'd attend a tournament or two if the main prize had any money in it. So yeah, fighting was quite useful when it came to gaining money. He didn't see himself in anything else anyway. Because honestly, what could a person like him do? He hated to talk with people, and it was totally different than at his Kendo club. Because honestly, scolding kids didn't really bother him. Maybe explaining some stuff was annoying, but instead of mere talking he was able to show them everything so there weren't many words spitted anyway. Yeah, he wasn't a very talkative person but honestly... who cares? The world would be way better if people wouldn't talk that much and if they'd actually think about what they're exactly saying. Because instead of wise words that would do something good, all Kirai could hear was senseless babbling about stuff that didn't even matter, not only in TV but also from people around him. Meh.. people... school meant the next year spent with all of these kids jumping around and trying to force him to talk. Or something like that. Well, nevermind. It's not like he's going to anyway. He decided long time ago that unless he doesn't need to, he just won't open his mouth. Although sometimes it was just impossible to stay quiet - blame people who surrounded him and their stupidity that pissed Kirai off to no end. Yeah, he hated idiots with a burning passion, but could you really blame him? They were annoying and well, stupid. Who doesn't hate such people?

Standing up slowly, he ran his fingers through his brown hair and that would be all if it comes to preparations. Sure he'd take a shower and s**t but... brushing hair? Like he didn't have any better things to do than that. Such stuff was for girls anyway. He'd never want to have long hair simply because it would take too much time to take care of it. Besides, on a guy it looked stupid anyway. Or so he thought. Well, that wasn't his business. It's not like he cared about what people are doing with their hair. He knew that he has to hurry, though. Or... not. Being late or not... did it really matter? Before school, he had to go to the Kendo club though. He had to check the new students list and his new schedule. He liked his work. It didn't bother him at all. Plus, he could avoid all these... social meetings with an one simple excuse - I have work today. Now wasn't it quite comfortable? Besides, annoying kids wouldn't attend his classes anyway. He was known for being strict and he only took children who showed a true dedication to their swords, not some random kids who were there just because of a stupid curiosity. Curiosity kills the cat, eh? He looked around him, stretching and opening the window for a few minutes. It was warm outside, although he could feel the autumn coming already. Oh well, autumn or not, he didn't really care. Wait, did he even care about anything at all?

He went to the bathroom, standing in front of the mirror and staring at himself for few seconds. His right eye was almost completely blank and white, which resulted in quite a scary effect. When he wanted to scare his students away he'd show them it and tell that they had to keep their guards up or else their eye will look the same. Yeah, kids believed in anything. Oh well. He took a quick shower and went out of the bathroom, planning to get changed and just get going before he's going to completely forget about the fact that he had to be on time... in the Kendo club, that is. No one cared about the school. Grabbing his eyepatch, he took it on and tied on the back of his head. Yup, way better now. The eyepatch got covered with his brown hair anyway, while left eye was visible. Lately, it got more orange though, which meant it got lighter. It actually managed to worry Kirai a bit, plus, he didn't hear anything from God for quite a long time anyway. And he definitely didn't want to get blind again. Kirai got his school uniform on and sighed, getting changed quickly and obviously making the uniform look like he'd be after a war. Not that it didn't look like that earlier anyway. He just refused to look like everyone else, being one of these perfect students in perfect uniforms. It didn't really matter that teachers would look at him like he'd commit the worst crime on the whole world. It wasn't that bad after all... right?

When he was walking around his room like that, he noticed a strange envelope on the floor. A letter for him? Heh, please. Who could possibly write something to him? Only some kind of a freak, probably. Oh yeah, from a time to time he'd get some random love letters but... that was just too funny and when he'd get one, he'd actually laugh. Yeah, him and laughing maybe didn't sound very good together but... you got the point. He wasn't really interested in love, honestly. There was no time for it, besides, his heart was taken already. Taken by the God himself, no matter how silly does it sound. Sure he also loved his parents but... that was it. He might also be taken as a religious freak and he honestly doesn't mind. Other people's word never had any value for him. They could babble as much as they wanted to, he wouldn't give a s**t about it anyway. Reading the text on the envelope, he raised his eyebrow and opened it fastly, a silver pentagram falling on his palm. He looked at it for a while and proceed to read the letter. Catching demons? Finding the third God? So basically, now the things that the second God was talking about are getting real? Kirai shrugged and put the letter on the shelve, hiding the pentagram in his pocket. If the God says he has to do it, he will do it, obviously. There was no such thing as rejection of the God's order after all. Now that he was sure demons are around, he'd probably just push Sonny more. She should better become useful sometime soon. Taking one of his six katana swords, he put it in a saya and walked out of the apartment. Yeah, he'd always carry his sword around. If teachers would say something to him at school, he'd explain that it's needed to do his work and they wouldn't bother. Lately he was just leaving it in the car, though. If it'll get dangerous, he'll gladly keep it by his side. You can never know when the enemy will attack you after all, although Kir would rather skip the part with killing innocent people around.

The sun was already quite high on the sky when he finally managed to get out of his apartment. Now, the next problem. Should he take the car, catch a bus or go by foot? Guess the car was the most comfortable option, although he didn't really like to drive. Plus, others always looked at him like he'd be a worse driver just because he's half-blind. Psh. His eyesight was way better than theirs, for ******** sake. Humans could be so idiotic at times it actually managed to annoy him a bit. So in worse mood, he started to drive towards the Kendo club, frowning a little bit when he thought that he'll actually be forced to speak in there. Oh well, he should probably stop acting like a mute, wild animal or something like that. In the other hand, he couldn't really help it. It was like that ever since he got blind when he was little and even though he was able to see now, his cheerful personality didn't come back and it never will. Passing by all these cars and people, he couldn't help but sigh and start thinking about school again. Will this year be different because of the demons, or maybe nothing will change and the demons aren't even around them in school? Maybe they're random people passing them by on the streets? Damn, the whole thing was so confusing. He wished that the God would give Sonny a power to see people's auras without a need to kiss them. What kind of an useless power was that anyway? Oh wait, the power itself wasn't that useless but the user was. Sighing deeply, he finally reached his destination and got out of the car, going inside of a pretty huge building.

The building itself was fairly new and good-looking, although from the another side, it was made into an old Japanese building imitation so the students would feel like in a real dōjō. Honestly, the idea itself was great and Kir didn't have anything against it. It was actually more fun than a gray room without anything around. He didn't even stop by the secretary, although she seemed to open her mouth to say something to him when he was passing her by. Well, too bad, he didn't have time for her babbling. He went directly to the director's office, not even knocking. The director knew that Kirai didn't really like to talk so he'd always keep everything short and simple. "I got the list of your new students and the old ones who are starting their next year as well. I selected them, don't worry, you didn't get anyone who's... eh... bad or hopeless. Also, here's your schedule," the older man smiled nervously and Kirai shrugged. "Alright," he took the papers from the old man's hands and looked at the list. Oh... quite a fair amount of new people. Well, better for him, because it meant that he'll get more money and he'll be more busy, thus isolating himself from everyone else again. And wasn't that just perfect for him? Yeah, like he expected, his schedule was almost full. But... it was also a training for him, although it wasn't anything new and if he wanted to train with all of his six swords, he had to do it alone. The dōjō here was open for him all the time though, so he had a reason to stay here until the late hours and train all the time. It's not like ha had anything better to do anyway. Not that he cared about any homework, assignments or projects. He could always go to Sonny and just take hers after all. Not that she could refuse, right? Either her or Aki. They usually had it done.

Driving back to the school, he was actually wondering if he should skip it. Not that anything interesting would happen today anyway... Then again, it was school. Nothing interesting would happen at all, or at least nothing that could get his attention. He was looking at school like on a personal prison more than a place that he could learn something from. All of the things he needed to know he already knew, what's the point of continuing to learn some useless s**t? Oh well, whatever. He won't skip, it won't matter much anyway. Parking his car, he went out of it with a plan of taking a nap somewhere. He left his katana on the backseat and closed the car, and then started to walk towards the school. He was clearly late but he didn't really care. Entering the auditorium, the president was in the middle of his boring speech so it was probably the best opportunity to nap somewhere. He spotted a few people that he knew but really, he didn't feel the urge to go over to them and say hello. Instead, he went to the corner of auditorium and sat there, deciding to take a short nap. When people would stand up the noise was so annoying that it would surely wake him up without a fail. Not that he could fall asleep deeply here anyway.

See, her dream was quite a pleasant one though uneventful. Diva was simply sitting in a moonlit field of lilies-- the moon was so bright that the lilies around her seemed like they were glowing as they were gently swayed by the wind. It was peaceful and quiet until-- a black ball of soft material fell on her, a huge ball at that-- huge enough to engulf her entirely (though that's not really saying much since she's quite small). It was enough to wake Diva up from her sleep, though she found herself unable to open her eyes, even breathe when she woke up. Flailing, she shoved her hand against the thing on her face and heard a disgruntled hiss when she did.

                                      "God damn it Lucifer!"

It turned out that their household's cat, Luci (Diva believes he should be called Lucifer though), had once again found his way inside her room and settle on her face again while she was asleep. Why he seems intent on doing this, she couldnt figure out. Luci is a black, fat, odd-eyed (his eyes are blue and green) siamese cat, w that was originally from hell as far as Diva was concerned. Luci is so fat that whenever he settled on Diva's face, should Diva not wake up, she'll probably die due to lack of air. As Diva shoved Luci out of her face, she quickly sat up and wiped at her lips, sputtering out Luci's fur that had stuck on her lips as well as the rest of her face. After wiping out majority of the fur on her face, Diva turned to glare at the cat, who was by then, had his back turned to her while he settled entirely on the pillow she was previously on.

"Lucifer, you are without a doubt, a cat from-- huh?"

The girl rubbed the remaining sleep off her eyes and looked at Luci again, well, what was under him at least. A piece of paper? Diva reached over and nudged the cat a bit, causing the cat to sneeze, as if annoyed at her. With a roll of her eyes, she pulled the piece of paper from under the cat and discovered that it was an envelope. She raised a brow as she stared at the envelope speculatively and as she flipped the envelope to look at the other side, Diva's eyebrows threatened to disappear past her hairline as she saw what was written there. "God" it said. Yeeeaaah right, as if? Diva settled comfortably back on her bed, legs crossed while she ripped the envelope open-- by then Luci had moved from her pillow to her lap, purring contentedly as she stroked his fur absentmindedly as she glanced at the letter with her free hand, merely pulling out key words from it. She'll read it thoroughly later. So far, it told her of things she knew even before. This was more of a gun shot signal for her, telling her that she had to start working on what the gods had asked her to do when they bestowed her the abilities she had now.

"Well, Lu, we both knew this time would come right? This really isnt anything new."

The cat just yawned and proceeded to stretch his body before hopping off her lap and the bed as well, padding over to the door as regally as he could. Diva just watched, half amused half curious, as Luci sat before her door and started yowling like mad, obviously wanting to be let out. Rolling her eyes for the second time that day, Diva stepped out of bed and moved across her floor where several rune pieces were scattered over a white sheet of cloth. She glanced at it for a while and hurried over to open the door for Luci, unable to stand his noise any longer.

Diva almost screamed in surprise as she opened the door, her mother stepped back as well. It seemed as if her mother also came up to her room to either open the door for Luci (yeah, he was that loud), or to wake Diva up. Instinctively, Diva glanced at her wristwatch which registered 7.15am. Good, she had about an hour and a quarter to get ready. She needed to be at school at nine for the general assembly/orientation/opening program thing, whatever it's called.

                                      "Morning Mom."

"You're early today Diva, excited about school?"

"Don't hold your breath mom. More importantly, I thought I asked you to keep Lucifer away from my room!"

That cat finds ways, that was what she said. Kureha, Diva's mother, just smiled innocently and kissed her daughter's forehead before turning away from her and walked her way back downstairs, but not after telling her to go downstairs for breakfast once she's ready. Diva managed to keep her eyes from rolling again as she returned to her room. Somehow she suspected that it was her mother that let Luci in her room, after all, if nothing else, Luci is the only one that can wake Diva up without trying so hard. She sighed and ran her fingers through her hair while her eyes fell on the runes that lay scattered on the floor. Deciding that she didnt want to trip over them sooner or later, she knelt down on the floor and picked them one by one, replacing them inside the pouch that her grandmother gave her along with the rune pieces, until only those upright ones are left. Diva blinked and studied the runes that faced her, all eight of them, with a piece of paper beside them. Yes, she remembered now. Didnt she cast the runes last night? Reaching over, she picked up the piece of paper she had written on and read. Apparently, she had already interpreted the eight runes that faced upright.

                                      User Image

With each rune, she wrote down a possible meaning in the order that they appeared. Mystery, a revealing message, connection with the gods, tendency towards change, recognition of one's fate, challenge or frustration for things to come, rashness and violence, and manipulation (the Ur rune was upside down as well as the Mannaz rune). Diva frowned, she obviously didnt like it. 'A mysterious message from the gods will be revealed and will bring forth change and cause you to recognize your fate. Wait for what is to come, may it be challenging or frustrating. But look out for rash and violent actions and beware of manipulative people. You might as well expect no help from others.' At least that was how she interpreted it fully.

Diva shook her head and took the remaining runes and dropped them back in their pouch, proceeding to put it inside her school bag. A message from the gods to reveal her fate? Thinking back on it, the letter very much fits that description. She didnt know what the rest meant but apparently, it warned her of other people. For once she hoped she was wrong with her runes, she really didnt like what it came out with. She was hoping on the fact that runes do not predict the future but merely warns of what might happen. Shrugging the message her runes brought her, she returned to her bed and picked up the letter as well as the envelope. Looking out for demons, sealing them, looking for the third god. She knew all of them, and she knew she had to do it for she wasnt willing to sacrifice the little abilities she had now. In fact, she was looking forward to turning things her way. She needed to gain more power. Diva was just about to slip the letter in her table's drawer when a silver pentagram fell on the floor. Surprised, she bent down and picked it up.

"..Im supposed to seal demons with this?"

She was skeptical of it but decided to keep it anyway. She looked for a silver necklace in her jewelry box and slipped the pentagram into it in a form of a pendant and wore it. At least that way, it didnt seem too inconspicuous. Well, letter all read and done, she decided to get ready for school, she had roughly an hour left. Grabbing her towel, she stepped inside her bathroom, stripped herself of her nightdress and straight into the shower. Then she screamed and pressed her back against the nearest wall of the shower.. trying to escape the water pouring from the shower head. It wasnt long when she heard Kureha outside her bathroom door.

                                      "Diva? Diva are you alright?"

"Mom! My heater is still not working! The water's freezing!"

"Oh! Oh-- well dear.. uh. I'll get it fixed later today?"

Diva groaned. Well, what could she do now? She was quite sure she told her mother days ago about her broken heater. Through gritted teeth, she told her mother it was fine (although it really isnt) and proceeded to taking a shower with curses flying about as she did. Well, that certainly woke her up (in fact, it would wake anyone up). Glad to get out of the shower, she returned to her room and pulled on her school uniform, along with her stockings, and pulled on a pair of heels suitable for going to class. The latter two wasnt really a requirement, but she liked wearing dark stockings and the heels were self-imposed. She had forty-five minutes left. Good. She didnt like hurrying, much more when it's the first day of class. She felt too lazy to hurry up.

As she picked up her brush to fix her hair, she heard her stomach rumble, clearly telling her to move faster and go downstairs. Not planning to deny herself much longer than necessary, Diva moved around her room as she brushed her hair. Her hair didnt really need much attention except from brushing, Diva liked having it flow down her back in soft waves so she just lets it be. She took a spare notebook from her desk and a few pens and dropped it in her bag. It was enough to bring for her first day so she moved on to more important matters.

Diva approached her closet and pulled the doors open, her eyes settling immediately in a cloth-covered item which she pulled out. The gods had given her the signal to start with her duty. Obviously she wasnt going to enter the field without making sure she had something to protect herself with. The runes were useless in battles, and while summoning can be of little help, she wanted something she was more sure with. Diva unravelled the cloth that covered the thing she held and pulled out a seemingly harmless staff that seems to be made of black steel. Diva twirled the staff once and smiled at the familiar feeling of the cold steel against her palm. She slid one hand towards one end of the staff until an almost inaudible click was heard. It was after that the staff split in two to reveal a blade that was hidden from within the staff. How it managed to completely hide itself inside the staff was unknown even to Diva but it was a helpful feature nonetheless. She knew better than to question an item that was given to her by the gods. The staff was in fact, a glaive. The glaive itself looked too wicked for a girl such as Diva, but as Diva's lips curled into a knowing smile, not only did the glaive exhume a sinister feel, but Diva as well.

                                      "Hello, my lady."

It was ironic that Diva had baptised her weapon with the name "Lady of Mercy", but she decided it fit the weapon perfectly (in a twisted way at least). Diva was still admiring the lady when Kureha's voice broke through the silence of her room, reminding her that she only had twenty minutes left until nine. Sighing, she retracted the lady's blade back and turned it back into a seemingly safe staff before returning it into it's cloth case. Yes, she was bringing it to school, not that the authorities there would know any better. She grabbed her bag and along with the lady, exited her room and made her way downstairs for breakfast.

                                      "Morning grandma."

"I heard you screaming Diva, enough to give me a heart attack."

"Well-- mom forgot to get my heater fixed."

Diva's grandmother just laughed while Diva pouted and sent a meaningful glare, albeit playful, at her mom who just smiled innocently at her. She then sat down and reached over the table for two pieces of toast and the strawberry jam which she spread across her toast, making it into a sandwich, all while ignoring the glass of milk that was made for her. While Diva was greatly bothered about her lack of height, she just couldnt bring herself to drink milk, which was probably the same reason why she suffered when it comes to height. It took her five minutes to finish her sandwich and with fifteen minutes left, she kissed her mother and her grandmother goodbye while she ignored their protests when she poured her glass of milk in a saucer for Luci, who licked it clean greedily. With that, she exited the house altogether.

Almost immediately, once outside, Diva turned her ipod on and placed the Devil's Trill on repeat as she walked her way to school. Fifteen minutes is enough for her without her hurrying, sure she might be a bit late and the ceremony might be starting already by the time she arrives, but it's probably just going for five minutes or so. She had been attending the said school for three years now as she was currently in her third year of highschool, and she knew, along with several other students, that this opening ceremony will be just as boring as the rest was. Often times she wondered why they had to go over this every year when majority of the school population hated it, even the president, she was willing to bet on that. If there were people who enjoyed the ceremony, it will be the people who dont matter, like the teachers or the few parents who attend the ceremony. However the main audience, the students, could really care less. Which is why Diva could care less whether she miss the first few minutes of the ceremony.

Just as she predicted, she wasnt the only one who were willing to sacrifice a few minutes of the ceremony. Students still scattered around when she arrived which she ignored. As long as they stayed out of her way, she'd stay out of theirs. She isnt really a person who'd try and get her way through violence, much more now when her runes had warned her against it, but it doesnt mean she cant be irritated. She had always hated crowds, and the more she neared the auditorium where the opening ceremony was held, the more did the crowd go thicker. Some avoided her like plague, mostly because of her family's reputation of being witches, though she was willing to bet every single cent in her wallet that they dont believe in their existence anymore. It was paradoxical the way they treated her, but she appeared to be apathetic most of the time. As long as they recognize her family's name, it's all good.

Diva slipped inside the auditorium and allowed her eyes to sweep through the entire crowd. And despite the size of the auditorium, she didnt need to look through them twice to pinpoint individuals that she recognized. She saw the familiar red-headed geek aka Kiyoshi who seemed to be enjoying? or simply being amused by the president, Karasu's speech. On the other side, she noticed pretty-boy Tern along with Kaoru, who she noticed by her usual pigtails. Seeing them sitting side by side piqued an almost childish curiosity and interest in her that she decided to sit a few chairs behind them. Apparently, Tern had fallen asleep (?) which gave Kaoru a go signal to ridicule the boy. Amused, she leaned forward a bit and listened, hoping to hear some argument rise from the two. She was sure the students who sat near her felt awkward with her around but she could care less as she found herself a more interesting topic to listen in on in comparison to Karasu's speech.

Oh, the temptation to throw a crumpled piece of paper in their direction was overwhelming.

A deep exhale came from the boy’s lips as he opened his eyes to find the world around him once more and smiled to himself. Meditating always made him feel refreshed and centred. His orangey brown eyes danced over the small garden around him before he jumped to his feet. Akinari meditated wherever he wanted, but he preferred outside, somehow it always felt better. The swish of his gray sweat pant legs brushed together as his bare feet bounded across the grass and then over the bushes onto the path. It was a short walk along the path, but for Aki, it was more of a skip or some half hop, half jog mutated walk. His fingers brushed along the wall beside him as he turned the corner and up the few steps before he reached the door. Akinari didn’t like to talk much about where he lived, simply because it’s not what he considered his home. His home was where he parents were and where he grew up. This was temporary accommodation and a place to sleep.

The sound of the door opening and closing caught the attention of Aki’s guardian while he was in Tokyo. “Who is it?” The old lady shouted from her rocking chair in front of the window at the end of the hall. There was a slight pause in the boys pace as he glanced up at the hall towards the women. She was a nice Japanese lady who was an old friend of Akinari’s grandmother. Her daughter had married recently and they were looking at placing the old woman in a centre. That was nearly three years ago now, but back then, the woman had only started to lose her sight. “Sorry Wami-san, it is just me” Nari responded with a small nod of his head before he continued towards his room. He heard Wami hum and then continue rocking on her chair. During the day a young women came to look after Wami while Akinari was at school, but she usually arrived just after Aki left for school.

Before his bedroom door was closed, the boy was tugging his white wife beater over his head. It was strange but he never fully unpacked, most of his clothes were still neatly tucked in his bags. The room looked mostly unlived in, only a few photos of family were hung up, a few scattered items and the wardrobe. His school uniform and daishō were in his wardrobe and nothing else. Akinari liked to keep things simple, and he really didn’t have much to begin with anyways. The wardrobe door was slid open by Aki who was slightly humming a tune under his breath and very much oblivious to the new item within his room. He wanted to get to school, to catch up with his friends and see Nozomi. For best friends forever reasons of course. Not because she was cute and made Aki feel good, of course not. A grin came to Akinari’s face as he hurriedly put his uniform on and then folded up his original clothes. It was not a craving to be neat, but he thought it disrespectful to leave the room in a mess or damage his clothes by leaving them on the floor.

Once the clothes were folded, he placed them on the end of his bed which he had already made. He had nearly turned to leave but found his eye’s landing on a folded piece of paper barely visible under his bed. It reminded him of the morning haze where he had kicked something as he climbed out of bed. At the time, he had thought he was just tired and had kicked the floor. The floor creaked under him as he got down on his hands and knees to extract the letter from the small gap between his bed and the floor. “Ha!” He shouted triumphantly as he pulled the paper towards him then sat back on his legs. There was a small pause as he examined the paper in his hands before he decided to unfold it. There was excitement bubbled in his stomach but before he read the letter he closed it again. He should have checked if it was his first, he didn’t want to read someone else’s letter that wouldn’t be right.

Wami-san! Did you leave a letter in my room?” Aki shouted as he crawled up onto his feet and chewed his bottom lip. He heard the rocking chair stop for a moment then a shift of Wami’s body. “No Aki. No one’s been in your room but you” The ladies voice made her sound stronger then the frail woman was and Aki sucked in his cheek. He would have to open it and find who it is for and return it, and apologize. Aki sharply nodded as his reasons behind opening it, they sounded right enough. The excitement rushed back to him as he opened the letter again and this time found something fell from it onto his foot. A curious glint came to his eyes as he bent down and picked up the pentagon. This was just weird. With the pentagon in one hand, he moved to the edge of his bed and started to read the letter with his head tilted.

Aki! You have to leave for school” Wami shouted from down stairs then coughed loudly and Aki jumped up onto his feet. The clock was scanned over quickly before he shoved the letter and pentagon in his pocket. His mind stuck on the fact that if he didn’t leave at that exact moment, he would be late for school. Hastily, he collected up his school bag from the foot of his bed, his hand checked his wakizashi that he kept sheathed and tucked in the back of his pants. When he had first arrived, he had been told off many times for taking a weapon onto school grounds so he had stuck to hiding it. It was a tradition to keep it on his body and he would uphold it, whatever it took. Within his fastened speed, he managed to dash into the kitchen, collect his self made lunch, slip his shoes on and make it out the front door.“See you after school Wami-san” He shouted after himself as he tucked his food into his school bag and then close the door behind him. Akinari had often used his powers around Wami, only because she couldn’t see and he doubted she’d tell anyone.

The pace to school was less hectic, since he always gave himself enough time to make it there as long as he left home at the time he should. Of course, he still preferred a jog or run then a walk which is why he ended up knocking right into a lady carrying a bag of groceries. The woman screamed loudly but Akinari managed to stop her from falling, but the bag and its contents still managed to scatter on the floor. The woman looked utterly terrified as Aki carefully straightened her up. “I’m so sorry” He stuttered out as he blushed at the realization that he had touched her chest when he caught her and quickly got down to start collecting the bags contents. “I’m so very sorry” He hastily apologized again as he reached around for the last few things, not bringing his eyes up to the woman who seemed stunned. A sharp exhale as he picked up the last item, his eyes widening a bit more as he stared at the package underwear then shoved it into the bag.

Akinari shot up with the bag and held it out in front of him as he bowed. “I am deeply sorry for running into you” He said with a large breath out, too flustered and embarrassed to look the woman in the eyes. A lump in his throat was swallowed down as the woman took the bag from his hands and he stepped around her before legging it away from the woman. The burning in his tinged cheeks and the dryness of his mouth didn’t leave him even once he reached the school. Now late too his destination. His hands were sweaty as he wiped them on the shirt of front of his uniform and walked half dazed towards the auditorium. This was exactly why he could never get with a girl, he’d probably faint or die. Plus, the running had made his asthma act up so now he was panting and wheezing loudly. As he came to the auditorium he tried to catch his breath but was failing, his hands trying to fix his shirt. Aki entered the auditorium to find he was entering halfway through the president’s speech, he tried to compose himself well enough so he didn’t get noticed coming in late. He would have to apologize later for missing the start of the president’s speech.

The boy caught sight of Kirai in the corner of the auditorium and he moved straight for the older boy. Aki sat down next to the boy, his lips pursed tightly so he could control his breathing and his head hung slightly to hide the redness in his cheeks. Usually he would have greeted Kirai with a respectful ‘Kirai-sama’ and a small bow to the older boy but it looked like Kirai was catching a few more minutes sleep and Nari knew if he opened his lips he would have ramble don about how he bumped into a lady and touched her underwear. Then as usual, he would be even more flustered and embarrassed, then find himself apologizing to Kirai and begging the older boy to forgive him for only the reason that he needed to know that he hadn’t done anything wrong.

The night had been a long one for a certain god of peace and justice. He was lounged on a couch in his library (yes, I said his library). He'd probably just dozed off an hour or so ago; his chin on his chest, his glasses almost falling off his nose with an open book laid in his lap. He had been up most of the night. Not partying or anything, though. Ha. I doubt you would ever find him having such a good time. Well, only because he doesn't believe partying is all that fun. He's not naturally a people person and would rather have his nose in a book rather than go out in general. In fact, reading is what kept him up all night. As if he couldn't be any smarter. He has a rather diverse and large library, so it's easy for him to stay occupied during those sleepless nights. Like last night. He wasn't normally an insomniac but last night had just been one of those nights that he couldn't get any sleep. Not that he needed much of it. Aside from being a god, his days were usually uneventful and he was usually lounging about his home if not taking a peaceful walk through the park near his home. Short version of all of that is he doesn't do much to require much rest. But that doesn't mean he can go on without it indefinitely. Too bad he wouldn't be able to snooze for much longer.

A Siberian tiger, full grown and everything, found the sleeping god. Its wintry coat made it hardly able to miss, aside from it's massive size. Its golden eyes were fixed on the sleeping god and was very tempted to pounce on him. He'd certainly not enjoy that, this tiger new for sure. It smiled, though the expression was a little more terrifying than that now that it had revealed one of it's large, ivory fangs. There was a hint of a mischievous glint in it's eye before it seemed to decide what to do. It merely did what it normally would do when it found the god sleeping there. The one thing that always got him to wake up. Though I'm sure it could wake anyone up, with how close it was standing by him, which was only a couple feet away. It crouched down, practically on its belly, rose its snout in the air and gave a roar.

The blue hair god jumped a bit, his grip on the couch tight as he looked around for the source of the commotion. It didn't take him long to spot Kuroda Sadae, his own familiar. His normally narrowed gold eyes were narrowed a bit more, meeting Sadae's amused stare. He glared at her like that for a moment before he relaxed his grip on the couch and sat up. He picked up his glasses, which had fallen in his lap on top of the book when he jumped. He folded them and stuffed them gently and neatly into the pocket of the jacket he was currently wearing before he shut the book in his lap. He sighed, looking back up at Sadae, who was now standing up, an obvious amused expression on her face, "I suppose that was necessary? You troublesome, mischievous feline." his expression still seemed unhappy but only to those who didn't know the subtle differences. He stretched out his hand and Sadae walked forward to rub her head against it. The smallest hint of a smile appeared on the god's lips. "I'm glad you did, though, or I would have woken up pretty upset for being late." he pet her head, scratching behind her ears softly. You haven't been sleeping well, Toshitaka-sama, so I figured you would be in here again. came a somewhat teen-like female voice in his mind. Technically, Sadae was still very young, even if her appearance said otherwise. I woke you with enough time to get in your daily archery practice. I wanted you to get some sleep, but I know how you hate to be out of sorts.

Toshitaka wore a wider smile as he wrapped his arms around her head and pulled her in for a hug. "What would I do on this earth without you?" he asked. Sadae's inaudible giggle echoed in his mind. You'd probably die from the amount of idiocy you encounter on a daily basis. she quoted him, having had conversations like this with him many times before. Despite that fact that Sadae was young for a familiar, didn't change the fact that she's lived well beyond the normal life span for her earthly counterpart and was fairly intelligent company. Much more to be said of those he worked with. Speaking of work, he would have to stop by the office to make sure things are running properly. As he always did. That routine he could rather do without, since he should be able to trust his employees to be competent but, seeing humans the way he does, that is highly unlikely in the near or even somewhat distance future. He let go of her and she stepped back as he stretched with a bit of a groan. "That couch was comfortable but that position sure hurt my back a bit..." he muttered under his breath, arching his back a bit for a sec before he looked back at Sadae. "Plan on just watching today?" he asked, with a smirk, referring to the archery practice she had mentioned earlier. Is that a challenge? she asked in return, a competitive edge to her voice as she bared her teeth a bit in a grin. "Only if you're willing to accept. he somewhat taunted her.

Having a very competitive nature, which Toshitaka knew about, Sadae got into a "ready to run" position. Race to the dojo; winner decides rules of target practice. Toshitaka fell into a more human version of said position. "You're on." he said, tossing the book still in his hands onto the couch, the two of them taking off as soon as it landed. If Sadae had been a regular tiger, this wouldn't have been any fun nor competition for Toshitaka. But she wasn't and her speed matched his, if not was a little faster. He could always cheat and teleport there but he was sure Sadae wouldn't appreciate that. It didn't help that she was younger and a lot more energetic and he had just come from a nap. In the end, Sadae had been the winner and she pranced around him as her victory lap. You can never beat me in a regular race. she gloated, her voice full of her current inflated ego. "How about we have an abnormal race next time?" he suggested, becoming a bit smug despite that fact that he just lost. "Oh, wait. You wouldn't stand a chance." he grinned in return, which caused her to frown and she replied with some obscene words while grumbling about cheating gods. He laughed as he entered the dojo, taking off his shoes. "Don't be so sour, Sadae. You have such a poor affinity for jokes." he teased his familiar. Sadae grumbled a bit more, waiting outside the dojo since she wasn't allowed in it. She waited for him to finish changing into something more traditional, which was a plain white haori and a dim blue hakama, which were his normal colors of choice.

Toshitaka had sent Sadae off to go hunt while he took a shower after a rather satisfying archery practice. He could almost predict where Sadae would go and could almost graze her fur. He never ever aimed for her directly, of course, but she did well with assisting him in his archery practice since she was such a speedy target. After the shower, he let his hair stay free of it's usual hair tie while donning the school uniform. He didn't really think about it but he didn't even need to go to school. However, too many would probably question him. He did look young, and would remain this way for the rest of his existence. Which was forever. That he never ceased to ponder and it always made him look down on humans all the more. What were their lives but mere vapors compared to the drawn out breath of his? He could spend hours and hours comparing the two things but right now was hardly the time. He had taken a bit of time with the archery and had under thirty minutes to check on his business before heading to school. Both actions would take a normal person at least an hour but he could have gotten it done within a matter of minutes. And he will. Just as soon as he leaves. He donned his usual accessories; his black choker-like neck piece and necklace with the cross he began to take a liking to. It didn't restrict his powers anymore, not that it could with how powerful he's gotten. His religion is often questioned because of it but he doesn't let it bother him. He slipped a hair tie on his wrist before picking up his bag which had all of his school things in already and slung it over his shoulder.

Toshitaka then closed his eyes and pictured his office in his mind. With a simple willing of his mind, he disappeared from his home and reappeared in said office. He opened his eyes and it was as clean and seemingly unused as it always is. There were a couple of shelves that added to the many collection of books that he had. Sort of like a super-mini version of his library at home. He had copies of his favorites that he would read when he got bored or finished with his duties for the day. He walked over to his desk and turned on his computer, logging into his account as soon as it finished starting up and loading. He checked his e-mail, sent a few replies, before he put it on "sleep" mode for when her returned later. He then checked the few documents on his desk, merely skimming through the contents. He'd read them later, though he got the gist of what it was saying and could probably finish his paperwork now. He still had around twenty five minutes before school started. He decided to do it later, however. He knew he would have plenty of time after school not to mention throughout the night. Though I'll probably take a nap before... he mused for a second, considering all the days he's gone without sleep in the passed few days.

Just then, his secretary had walked in. As usual, she was surprised to see him there. He knew how early she got in and she'd probably been in here earlier. He never bothered to explain his mysterious appearance, though. He just didn't feel like wasting his time with it. "Oh, President Ukita! I didn't see you come in..." the woman, in her mid or late twenties, said. Which she seemed to say every time. As if she still weren't used to it. Toshitaka merely nodded, "Yes," he managed a greeting smile. "What is it?" The woman shook her head, "I didn't see you come in and heard noises coming from your office so I decided to check it out." she explained, an abashed expression on her face. "Sorry to disturb you" she apologized before she back out of the room, closing the door after her. Humans... I suppose I'll never get used to them. he sighed before he looked around his office. He didn't have much to do now. A brief glance at his watch told him he still had plenty of time to make it to school. He walked out of his office, looking around at the mostly empty desks. The few employees there looked up as he walked out and he politely smiled at them with a genial "Good morning," he then walked out and headed for an elevator. He waited for an empty one and once he was on, he closed his eyes and pictured the roof of the auditorium. In just seconds, he reappeared in midair above it, landing softly.

Toshitaka had enough time to put his things in his first class, except for that book he always carries around, before heading off to hear the president's speech at the opening ceremony. He'd made it later than he normally would, but there were a fairly good amount of seats left for him to sit. He wore his usual bored expression, which seemed to intrigue new students. Some were bold enough to try and talk with him but the conversation didn't last very long. He was surprised at how persistent these new students were. And, of course, he couldn't refuse to talk with one a little when it was a female. Darn his weakness to their emotions. He was eventually made to sit with a group of new female students who seemed content to just stare. He ignored them for the most part, seeming intent on the president's speech. Which he could tell wasn't rehearsed at all and was probably off the top of his head. He looked at the letter he still had in his hand as he got a little bored of the speech and glanced around. He couldn't see where Sonny had gone and she wasn't in his current vision's radar. He sighed softly, thinking of the encounter he had with her a little earlier. He had still been heading to the room where the ceremony was taking place when a letter practically flew in his face! He had gotten a little annoyed by it but the scent from it was familiar. Both the sender's and the one whom it had been sent to. I wonder why she would get such a letter? he asked, very tempted to read it.

Before he could, however, he caught Sonny's scent very near him and looked up from the letter to see that it was her. As usual, she was her usual shy self. He is unaware of her crush on him but has a similar interest in her and couldn't help but smile slightly at the sight of her. she just stood there, all fidgety, before she mentioned that the letter was hers. He had forgotten it for a second but before he could give it to her, she seemed to just run off. He blinked and shook his head, Such a strange human girl... Why does she intrigue me so? he pondered before looking back down at the letter. He still wanted very much to read it, curious among other things. He wasn't one to invade another's privacy, however, so he merely folded it. He kept it in hand, though, just in case he bumped into her again. He had hoped to see her in the auditorium but it was so crowded, it was hard to find anyone that quickly. So he had settled for sitting in the ceremony and looking for her later.

    the AMBITIOUS hacker

    ▆▆▆▆▆▆▆▆ ▆▆▆▆ ▆▆▆▆▆▆▆▆

    ✶! ✶!

" The sun had just begun to rise, but Uruk had been up for hours before that. The young male had been perusing the Internet, searching for the whereabouts of the one known about the hacking community as the quiet hacker. “Gah!” Uruk audibly portrayed his frustrations as he slammed his two pale fists down upon the keyboard; his spindly fingers began to tap on the keyboard once more. After ten minutes more of searching, Uruk gave up, sighing dejectedly. The slender male rose to his feet, shuffling over to the bathroom. After disrobing, Uruk opened the glass door that lead to his shower, closing it behind himself. The hot water provided a distinct relief, he began humming to himself, and the tune went something like, da-da-RAHHH- da. After Uruk disengaged the water flow, he reached a hand out from the rolling fog created by his shower. Gingerly, he plucked a towel from the hook, and after toweling off, he unceremoniously tossed the towel in the hamper. The cold air hit his nude body like a ton of bricks, quickly; Uruk threw on some clothes, his usual dress. A crew neck sweater, which is horizontally striped, it's also lime green, the stripes are white, black Ray bans, which may, quite possibly be the highlight of Uruk’s wardrobe on any given day. His jeans are grey, skinny, more or less skin tight, keeps everything in line. Lastly checkered Vans slip-ons.

Pop, pop, pop, kernels rattled around inside the pot; stoic eyes drifted over to the timer, five minutes remained on the timer. The small apartment above the café left much to be desired, or it would for possibly any other human being on the planet; but Uruk was quite content, a little kitchen, a nice, comfy, outdated queen sized bed and a thirty-two inch TV on a cedar table, it wasn’t a mansion, but it was paradise for him. The symphony of sounds lulled Uruk into a daze; unfortunately, the high pitch whistle of a teakettle broke his corn-induced relaxation. Grudgingly, Uruk gripped the arms of his armchair to propel himself up, to check on the tea and popcorn. The old white stove struggled to power the burners; the water was hot, that was good enough. A slender, delicate hand twisted the knob to extinguish the fire. Popcorn was poured into a red ceramic bowl and boiling water onto a tea bag in a red plastic cup; grabbing both he waddled over to his chair in front of the monitors. His youthful body sunk into the soft leathery chair and his stoic, bluish eyes turned to the TV.

The movie, Casablanca was blaring loudly, filling, no pushing the walls with it’s exuded decibels. Being twenty had its disadvantages, sometimes he longed for it’s inherent dawdling; however homework, annoying teachers, and irritating kids brought him back to reality: school sucks. Shaking his head, Uruk reached for the remote, turning off the television. Rising from his pseudo-throne, he stretched his arms high in the air. Walking over to his cedar table, Uruk grabbed the mailbox keys from the table, and left the apartment to check his mail.

Living on the eighth floor had its drawbacks, one of which was the several floors to the mailbox, fourteen in total roundtrip. As Uruk traversed the various staircases, he sighed audibly innumerable times. “I’m not in such good shape these days,” he said lazily. Finally, Uruk reached the bottom floor; opening up the mailbox inside was a letter, which he opened perfunctorily, a strange letter with a silver pentagram next to it. “I wonder what this could be,” he said quizzically. Returning to his lodgings, Uruk sat down once more in his comfy chair, where he nodded off, falling to sleep, only to wake up, moments later. "I've gotta get out of here", he said surely to himself. "I'll go get a coffee," Uruk decided. Venturing out from his apartment and once more down the seven flights of stairs, he left his apartment building behind for the unknown of this fine day.

Aisu woke up from her usual nightmare, all nervous and sweaty. When she realized, that she's at her apartment she took some deep breaths to calm down. "Another nightmare about this creepy stuff. When will it end?", she asked herself, while wiping sweat from her forehead and sighed deeply. She was tired of them and usually lacked of sleep because of that. Aisu didn't need to sleep a lot, but her actual body, human body, needed it, so she had to sleep, after all. She hated sleeping, mostly because of nightmares. Well, to be honest, she didn't like this whole human body, which was weak and poor. But she couldn't live in her normal demonic form in this world. Although she could resist it, she could do almost everything to live in human world which was much better than hell or, gasp, prison.
Aisu snapped out of her thoughts and stood up from bed, checking the time on her cellphone and she saw a little note on it - "school today". Huuuh? She stared at it for a while, trying to understand it. School... School... Ach, right. Well, good timing then, she won't be late for the ceremony. She didn't care if she will be late or not, but it's better to get there on time, right? She putted her cellphone back on the table and then yawned and stretched. She went to the kitchen to drink some coffe and get back to life. She really wasn't good at mornings.
"Coffee, coffee" she mumbled to herself, looking around the kitchen, still all sleepy. She was half awake, as always, so coffee was a must. Or a cold shower. Or both things, that was the best for her.
She peeked out the window, while waiting for water to boil and looking at the street filled with cars, people, dogs, trash and other stuff. Nothing new. She heard a silent "click" - water was finally ready. She took a cup, coffee and sugar from the shelves. Two spoons of coffee, two of sugar, now some hot water - and the drink is ready. She putted everything back on the shelves and sat on the chair near window, lookin at the street again while slowly drinking coffee. She was thinking about today's plans. She smirked a little, when she remembered, that today she has to go to school. Ach, she forgot about it already. First day of school - that might be interesting. New people, new place to make some fuss. Or rather new place for someone to make some mess - she usually was a silent person who made a safe way for others and, after that, she stayed in the back, watching. She didn't like to soil her hands, so this job was the best for her. Being an indifferent spy. She had to be cold and silent, so people usually didn't like her. But whatever, Aisu didn't like people either. Well, sometimes somebody interesting appeared, but it was rarely. She didn't like noisy, annoying people, but most of teeneagers were like that so Aisu didn't have much choice and she stayed as usual - without friends, indifferent to other people. And she didn't mind it, to be honest.

When Aisu finished her coffee she putted a cup into the dish-washer and went to the bedroom to change her clothes. She opened a wardrobe and stared at shelves, thinking about what to wear. After some time her eye catched a cloth different than others and Aisu realized that new school isn't like others - in this one everyone had to wear special uniforms. Yuck, she hated it, when she had to wear something she didn't like. Aisu sighed deeply and took a uniform, then threw it on the bed and went to the bathroom. Time for shower, right? She got naked and took a cold shower and slowly awakened, while thinking about school and other stuff, just to kill some time.
Aisu turned off the water and wiped herself with a dry towel, finally fully awakened and alive. After that she took a hairdryer and started to dry her hair. She had some problems to turn it off in the end, so she remebered to buy a new one. It's better to spent some money than being electrocuted. Now - tooth. She took some paste and teethbrush and washed them from coffee.
When she finished, she went back to the bedroom to change. Aisu took her new uniform and wore it, then went to the giant mirror in the corner, to check how she looks. "Not that bad, I guess", she thought. "It always could look worse", she shrugged and took a backpack which was near the window. She checked if she packed all important stuff, like notebooks, pens, pencils et cetera. She was a good student, right? Everything were there, so she hadn't nothing else to do but leave her apartment and go to school. She sighed, again, and left the bedroom to wear shoes.

She was happy that she lived alone - she didn't have to worry, or rather being annoyed, by some people in her apartment and stuff like that. And she didn't have to live in a luxury, so she didn't complain. Besides, she got used to this apartment - it's the same, that she was living once, when she was on the Earth, trying to live as a normal human in a human world. Well, you can say that she had a sentiment to this small and low key apartment.
When she was done, she left the apartment and then a building, going on the street and taking a route to school. One good thing, the building wasn't far away from school, so she hadn't to walk miles to get there or go there by a bus. She thought, that it would be nice to have a car. Hmm, why she never didn't think about it? Everything would be much easier. Well, she wasn't going outside much so she didn't need a car. But now it's a different situation, so she started to think about it, while going to the school.

Ach, she hated crowded streets. Full with noisy and aggressive people, who only intended to just kill you or something, when jostled, rushing to their work places or whatever. Aaach, big cities really were a pain in the a**. Aisu slowly was getting annoyed, because of noise, smell and being pushed by people. They didn't know, that that few seconds which they saved by jostling won't help them getting on time to job. She sighed, standing on the sidewalk and waiting for light to change from red to green. When it changed, she walked further, checking time on her cellphone. Ach, she still had about 30 minutes to get to school, so looks like she will be there too early. Och well.

                                              Few streets later.

She finally saw the school building, not so far away from her actual place. There were also less people, so Aisu started feeling better. She took a deep breath and walked further, without rushing - she still had about 20 minutes before the ceremony and boring speech of some windbag will start. When she will get there, she will have about 10 minutes to find where the ceremony will be and then she will have like 5 mintues to stand, doing nothing and thinking about stupid stuff. Aisu really liked planning things, sometimes. It helped her to make her life organised just like she wanted to.
Anyway, now she took a few more steps and reached the school gate. She looked at the building, which was kinda simple and pretty. She passed it through and went to the school, avoiding some people who were also going to listen the speech. Aisu opened the door and entered the school. Hallway was pretty much crowded, so she frowned a bit. She looked around, looking for any noticeboard or something, where she thought she could find some informations about the ceremony's place. She found a little information about it, finally. Ach, auditorium, not so far away. She turned around and walked towards the auditorium. When she got there, she looked for any free seats. Aisu was lucky, she found one in the back, so she went there quite fast, to reach it before anyone. She looked at her cellphone and it looked like she had even more time to just sit on her butt. Oh well. She sat more comfortable and looked at the crowd, getting bored.
Few minutes passed and the president finally showed up. Aisu looked at him and listened to the speech, which was boring as hell. She dropped it and rested her head on hands with closed eyes. Well, the ceremony will take some time, so it's a good opportunity to take a quick nap. And it's better than listening to this windbag.

The Ochi household was surprisingly quiet for the early morning, in fact, there was only the sound of the servants quietly doing there set jobs around the home. Of course, that wasn’t going to last, especially once Masaru woke up to find he had not been woken up when he had asked. There was a soft groan from his lips as he forced his tired eyes open and moved a hand atop his head to save his eyes from the light He slowly pulled himself up into the seat position and continued to blink the sleep away. One of his arms slung over behind him to find the small machine with the black button, with one push a maid raced up to the boys’ room. As the flustered woman came to the end of his bed, she bowed hurriedly and then stepped around to the side. “Yes, Master Ochi?” She asked trying to hide the pants in her breath and Saru turned his head to look at her, not even a hint of emotion over the dishevelled state the maid was in. “What time is it?” He asked with a loud yawn and scratched the side of his head. The maid gulped down a breath and looked to the digital clock next to the large bed Masaru was seated up in. Many people would have argued with the boy over how it was unreasonable for him to bring them up to his room, to read the digital numbers for him. But the maid only tried to tuck her hair behind her ear and told the boy the time.

Masaru immediately threw his blankets of himself and clenched his hand tightly on the maid’s upper arms. “I have school today. How can you insufferable idiots forget to wake me up for it!” He growled at the girl as he towered over her and then let her go roughly before he pushed past her and headed for his personal bathroom. “When I come out. I want my breakfast cooked and my school uniform ready for me” He ordered with a wave of his hand and then stripped down right in front of the maid. The young woman blushed deeply as she nodded to his order. Masaru glanced back at her and smirked. He’d totally forgot she was the new maid and was still working it all out. The fact that she was stunned, and her eyes were stuck to him, it was amusing. Usually he would take the time to mess with the new maids head, but he was meant to be out of such things while he worked to gain power. “Are you going to stand there watching me, or go do what I asked? I guess, if you wanted you could give me a hand, if you really wanted” Saru said with a sly smile, but the words shocked the woman back into life and she rushed out of the room. The boy chuckled to himself before he continued on his move to bathe.

The maid greeted him when he stepped into his room. His school uniform was laid out neatly on his now made bed and the maid stood by the end of his bed with a tray in her hands. It was clear that she hadn’t done it one her own, the food looked far too delicious. The white towel was wrapped loosely around his hips and he could tell the maid was struggling with so much revealed skin. Her eyes were down on the food on the tray and there was a deep red flush in her cheeks. Masaru didn’t say anything as he walked up to the maid, his fingers immediately moving over the food. There was mainly fresh fruit and a few pieces of toast, but it was all neatly presented to make it look appetising. In truth, Masaru wasn’t at all hungry but he still ate a piece of fruit. A sly smile returned to his lips as he looked over the maid, he slowly moved his finger tip to underneath the young woman’s chin. There was no doubt that she was his elder by a few years. He moved her chin up so she was looking up at him and he could tell she was nervous as hell. That amused the 19 year old endlessly. “I’m very sorry for shouting at you earlier” He said in a flawless act of sincereness, no way was he really sorry. “That-that’s okays” The maid responded as Masaru slowly trailed his finger along her cheek before tucking a strand behind her ear. The smile never left his lips as he brought his hand back down and stole another piece of fruit then turned to face his uniform. “Now get out of my sight. I have to get ready” He said coldly, scaring the maid with his change of tone. She paused for a moment, staring at him before she hurried off.

Masaru’s continuous and seemingly bipolar mood swings came with his little ability to keep his cool or hold down an act. The boy had too much going on in his head in truth, beneath his swaying moods and cool eyes; he was always planning and watching. Plus, he knew he was to be breaking from silly human matters like women, but they were so alluring to him. He found it was the hardest thing to do. As he straightened up the shirt of his uniform, he found himself wondering if Mei was going to be there. That girl was more than alluring to Saru. Her long black hair that he wished to run his fingers though… Masaru shook the thoughts from his head before he glanced at the clock once more. He had to leave for school now, another year of pointless education. He wouldn’t need education soon, once he had the powers of the God’s and Demons. The world would be at his feet and a human education would be so below him.

The white haired boy strode across the room to his bag which was packed and neatly sat on the top of one of his cupboards. He didn’t know what was in the cupboards, never opened them in his life but he guessed they held something. Clothing, most likely. Once the bag was swung over his shoulders the boy noticed a letter under his bag. An envelope to be exact. He pursed his lips. The stupid servants knew they were meant to make sure he received his mail properly. How long had that been sitting there? He didn’t know but he picked it up hastily and tore it open. The first thing he pulled out was the letter and his eyes skimmed over the words.

At first he was frustrated but soon he began to smile. “Well, well, well, this is interesting” Masaru said to the letter in his hands as he brought the corner to his lips and he thought about the information he had just received. There were so many plans in his head now. News or information on how he can succeed in becoming powerful was always good news. The boy found the pentagon; he examined it in the light and found it disappointing. “This little thing?” He said with a confused expression, it seemed so little and harmless. This was meant to seal a demons or ex-gods power. That was a silly joke, but he couldn’t help but find himself wishing he could try it out. The pentagon was shoved in the pocket of his bag and so was the letter. He’d have to talk to his minions, that thought was amusing. ‘Minions indeed’ Saru confirmed before he headed out of his room.

The boy got his driver to drive him to school, it wasn’t like he was going to fight for a car park, and that time was used for plotting. Masaru would never admit that he plotted more than anything else, but he probably did. Well, besides the time he used to waste with females. They were a distraction and he needed to focus purely on his hunting. The car door opened next to him and he saw his driver holding it open for him. “I’ll contact you when I need to be picked up” Ma said without another glance at the man before he began to head where he knew he should be. The auditorium. As he walked through the school, he noticed how the girls seemed to take their time to look at him and then discuss his presence among each other. Most of them were younger than him and he found himself amused with how the girls didn’t even attempt to hide it. Masaru once again had to bring his focus back to what he was meant to be on. The demons, power and fame. Girls were out of the question for the time being.

Masaru slipped into the auditorium and stopped to scan over the crowded room. Where were his minions? He finally spotted a familiar tricky female and proceeded to move straight for her. As he sat in the seat beside her. It became empty once Masaru ordered the person who had once been in with the flick of his hand and a firm look. He sat back in the seat, his arm snaking around the back of Diva’s seat and his legs crossing in front of him. “Hello Diva, amused by something?” He said with no worries about being shushed, since it was during some important speech. Saru’s eyes followed where Diva’s sat and saw Tern and Kaoru. A small curve of his lip, that scene would probably end interestingly. His eyes slowly drifted over the student body until he spotted a familiar female. That long black hair was once again enticing to touch, as well as the rest of her body but he had to dim those thoughts. In the middle of the auditorium was not exactly the right time, or place. He brought his eyes back over the auditorium but he found they got caught of something in the corner. ‘Kirai..’ That boy was going to be under his thumb eventually, there was no doubt in Masaru’s mind. He just wished her knew how to get that boy there. There had to be some button to push or person to kidnap.

”You do know you’re not supposed to sleep during this. Then again, you were never that great with remembering directions were you.”

“And you were never that great with sitting in chairs, were you.” Without opening his eyes, Tern murmured back the remark, loud enough only for the speaker to hear, with the same edge of supremacy that was present in her tone, inherent in his. He hadn’t missed the near slip out of her seat she had just performed and it didn’t take a genius to figure out that she was picking a fight. Sadly, she hadn’t picked the right person to attack. Tern was content at that moment, sleeping with his feet up on the chair in front of him and his arms tucked behind his head - although the chairs were a bit too close for his tall body to be comfortable. He wouldn’t give her the satisfaction of arguing if that’s what she wanted. So, as much as he wanted to just punch her lights out, he refrained. ”If you haven’t noticed, though I know you’re not very observant, no one else is sitting next to me,” his tone was annoyingly mocking, but he was right. Really, no one was around him, a good three seats in all directions were vacant and even those who were close seemed to get the message and they leaned as far away as possible. He continued, ”I can’t sleep with someone like you so near to me. Just go and bother some idiots.” He yawned, blatantly egging her on while the small bird on his shoulder made a series of small hops, cocking its head curiously at the girl. Then, it promptly fluttered to his stomach and plopped itself down on its master’s warm belly, its tiny feet disappearing beneath the bundle of gold feathers. Hitori’s tiny, dark black eyes slid shut, its tiny body rocking with each breath Tern took.

If it were any indication of Tern’s actual annoyance, his breathing was subtly rapid and shallow. He felt the bird move on his stomach and somehow, that calmed him; the small circle of warmth from the tiny feathered body blossoming on his stomach. The heat was rather uncomfortable, as little as it was, but it was a lasting reminder that the creature was there. He moved slightly, turning his shoulder up towards whomever it was who talked to him as a simple means of dismissal, taking care not to disturb the sleeping aviator. At the same moment, he felt a sharp p***k in his side. He stiffened, an instinctive reaction, but then realized that it was just something in his pocket. Moving again, he released one arm from under his head and found the object with his hand. For the first time, he opened his eyes, holding the item right in front of his eyes in the air. ’A letter?’ Probably his three sisters, putting it into his pocket to wish him a good first day or something. But even as he thought that, he realized that couldn’t be it. He didn’t recognize the stationary or the writing that said his name on the front. Now he released his other hand from under his head, using both hands to tear open the letter from the side. He let the contents slid out, a silver object landing in his palm while he tossed the envelope over his shoulder. He looked at the strange pentagram first, turning it around in his hands. But it was lacking any identifying details and eventually, he set that aside, laying it right next to the sleeping bird. The letter was written on thick paper, but it wasted no time on formalities. Even though the text was straightforward, the meaning was anything but. Gods and demons. Locking them away. Nearly everything that was written there was lost on Tern. But he was annoyed by the strange letter and he made a small noise under his breath to show it. He crumpled up the letter quickly, tossing it away to join the envelope on the ground and then retucked his arms beneath his head.

But still, he couldn’t just forget so easily. Regardless of how ridiculous the concept of shoving the pentagram sign into someone’s back was, Tern still had powers that he couldn’t explain. He’d discovered them long before – he couldn’t even remember how many years ago it had already been – but they were definitely there. He imagined the freak winds that would crop up wherever he went until he finally realized that that happened every time he got angry. Which would explain the frequency of said winds. And that led to a long week of training. It might’ve taken a month, but Tern was satisfied with just being able to keep things under control. And either way, as time passed, he perfected it, so it didn’t matter. It was something that shouldn’t be dwelled on, but here it was, cropping up again. Although this time, the powers seemed to have a tiny footnote that said something about trapping Demons and Gods. Tern sighed, releasing the breath he was holding as he stared at the ceiling thoughtfully. ”Waste of time,” he muttered, before letting his eyes slip shut.

He had already long since forgotten that Kaoru was right there. And if his senses weren’t wrong, another person had decided to drop in, sitting a few seats away, but leaning forward enough to make it definitely not on accident. What was with people today? He knew it was the first day of school and all, but why did people have to…to be so ’damn annoying…’?
