Story

In the land known as Viallan there are four ruling kingdoms. To help maintain the hard fought peace between the sovereignties a new treaty is signed every fifty years at the annual masquerade ball.At least that is how it used to be. The last ten years have been rife with tension, causing the need to change the signing from every fifty years to every one. Normally only the Monarchs and leaders of the Nobel houses attend the ball, but this year the ruler’s children will accompany their parents to the event as well. This year’s meeting is more important than any that had come before. The fragile peace has been threatened and there is only one thing that could prevent an all out war.

Rules

Follow all Gaia TOS and Guidelines. Romance is encouraged, but when things get steamy, time skip. NO CYBERING, like, AT ALL. No god-modding. It makes me cranky and you will not like me when I’m cranky.

No one can complain about pairings. They will be randomly chosen. Be prepared to be matched up with ANYONE, except from those in your family. [Example; You could be a heterosexual guy and end up with another straight male. You could be a homosexual female and be paired with a homosexual male.] All pairings will be pulled randomly out of a hat when we come to that point in the RP. Ingou and I will be following this rule as well, since we will not be using the fact that we are moderators to get around the rules.

Each family will have a son and daughter who are straight, a son and daughter who are bisexual, and a son and daughter who is homosexual. Once the spot for that is taken there will not be any more once they are full.

All characters are human. I know this is sent in a medieval/Victorian like time frame I how people think, but that doesn't change things. While there are stories about evil sorcerers, witches and the occasional dragon that is all they are.

No real life pictures. They make Ingou crazy, which in turn, drives me crazy. All pictures must have the hair color that matches with your family. All pictures must come close to the age they are supposed to represent [Example; We don't want to see a picture of a preteen girl if the character you're applying for is supposed to be twenty-five]

This story is set in a time when there is no modern technology, such as MP3 players, computers, etc. Transportation involves horses, carriages, carts, and our feet. No modern music; it'll be mostly instrumental.

About posting; Basically, post every couple of days. If you mention in the OOC that you are going to be gone or if something came up in real life, I'm not going to be a fire-breathing dragon lady and rip your head off. Life happens, it's understandable, just give me a heads up. If someone is interacting with your character, be sure to respond. It's not polite to keep them waiting around for your post. Don't join the RP only to say that you are going to leave if things don't pick up. Give it some time and bare with us since I'm hoping this RP will be long-term.

This is a literate/lazy advance RP. I want between three to seven good paragraphs. I'm looking for posts with proper grammar, punctuation, and spelling. I know that not everyone is perfect, so there are bound to be errors, but please do not make this an every-single-post sort of thing. No one-liners; there will always be something to write about. What your character is thinking, what they are doing, looking at, etc. details are always your friend.

About post styles; Keep OOC chat to a minimum in the RP; there is an OOC thread, so use it. Also, do not use any colors that will blind anyone that tries to read your posts; it's not very nice. [Don't know what colors are too bright? Ask around in the OOC; we'd be more than happy to let you know, even suggest more colors] Remember "bold" for speaking/dialogue, 'italics' for thoughts/inner monologue. If an NPC is talking, be sure to make their speech in a different color than your character's. For your post style, please include your character's name, which kingdom they are from, what son/daughter they are, and have an image of what they look like. Anything else after that is just icing on the cake. Having a pretty post isn't necessary, but it is encouraged.

To join, you must send in a reserve skeleton. After you get the OK, we'll add your reserve slot to the others and you may begin your profile skeleton. After your reserve is accepted, you will have four days to turn in your profile, or else your reserve will be deleted. There is a two character max for this RP..

Kingdom of The North

The Northern Kingdom is ruled by the Aquilonem family. The sovereignty is well known for their red hair. Most people associate the kingdom with the mining of metals and precious stones. A little known fact is that some of the most talented mason’s and metal workers have also come from the North. The people don’t just mine the materials to sell, they also use them themselves to make some of the most beautiful statues and jewelry in all of Viallan. The music of the north can be almost delicate at times, not quite what you would expect from those who spend their lives in mines.

Kingdom of the South

The Southern Kingdom is ruled by the Meridiem family. The royal family members all possess brunette hair. The kingdom is covered in water, be it the sea that surrounds them or the rivers that run through what land the people live on. Due to this the main commerce evolves fishing and whaling. The people use every part of the fish and whale they catch, from the bones that are made into tools and jewelry to the scales that are used as bait on the rare shark expedition. The music can can change depending on the mood, but it all keeps at least a few basic elements.

Kingdom of The East

The Eastern Kingdom is ruled by the Dwyrain family. The members of this monarchy all have blonde hair. The kingdom has some of the richest soil known throughout Viallan, which makes it perfect for growing all kinds of crops. It is also a great place to raise and heard livestock . The meat from the cattle is greatly sought and the vegetables grown some of the biggest. Don’t let the fact that the kingdom is mostly made up of farmers deceive you. These farmers are amazing chefs and take great pride in their ability to make the other kingdoms salivate at their decadent delights. Their music can be rowdy or soft depending on the event.[/size

The Western Kingdom is ruled by the Orllewin family. Every last member of the royal family has black hair as dark as onyx. The kingdom is surrounded by trees and therefore use lumbering as its major financial tool. This realm is also known for the fine instruments they make, from violins to drums their carpenters can make it all. The people who dwell here are also associated with their beautiful dance styles. The music of this land has a beat no matter if the sound is fast or slow.

Neutral Ground

Neutral ground is a village where the people of all four kingdoms come to do trade and have the main five yearly festivals. One in honor of each royal family and the sacrifices they had made for the greater good of all the people of Viallan and one to celebrate another year of piece. The Day of Truce may sound like an original title, but the people don’t need a fancy name. This day is preceded by a week of parties and games held throughout all the kingdoms, but to an even greater degree in Rahu where the treaty signing is held. The final celebration is a masquerade ball held in the Regia Pacem (Palace of Peace).

Important Announcements

Starting Thursday afternoon to sometime on Sunday neither Ingou or myself will have internet. I promised my mom I would watch her dog's while she goes house hunting in Tennessee. I had thought she would leave me her internet , but was informed today I was wrong. Ingou will be coming with me becasue it is creepy over their alone. Safe to say there will be no Zombie movies being watched. Not that I would anyway.

Due to this I have asked Rowan_Artes and DDuckFan to watch over the thread for us and they have agreed. I will not be taking profiles or anything else over this time period. while we trust you we still feel better knowing that there will be someone here to watch out for you while we are gone. Remember to obey the rules. Don't fight. Don't give them a hard time and most importantly have fun.

Like I said from Thursday to Sunday. I am telling everyone now so they are warned in advance. I will try and sneak to a McDonald are somewhere to check the Pm's but I promise nothing. If there are any major problems they will be dealt with on Sunday when I get back home.
