User ImageCariela could sence the air tightening around Eli, like he knew about something she didn't. It really didn't bother her very much, until her eyes flickered up to look at his handsome face. He smelt his wrist, then grimanaced in discust. Catching a little piece of her hair, the girl quickly checked herself for a foul smell. Nothing out of the ordinary, just her grape shampoo. So, it wasn't her. Did he smell fire or something? Eh, she'd figure it out later. His eyes jerked around them, looking for something spefic. Oh, so it was a like a person or an animal that smelt funny? It really didn't piece together in her mind very well, but his quiet, obviously displeased command was enough for her to pick up her walking pace. She didn't really like the new Eli, and hoped he would get out of his bad mood soon. Her tumb rubbed soothing circles on the side of his hand, hoping to provide a calming affect on him. With her other hand, she used the remote start to auto-start her car. The beast rumbled to life, purring softly as it warmed up a little.

Out of nowhere they appeared. Though Eli had seen them, his eyes faster than Cariela's and he defensively stepped in front of her, the growl he'd been trying to restrain flying loose. They were the Cullens, Emmet and Rosalie if he remembered right. He relaxed a little, but not much. "What do you want," he said, not a question but a demand. Their eyes locked onto Cariela and he shook as his anger swirled up. "Not that furball," the girl said and crossed her arms. "We need to talk. Privately." She said simply, and Eli snorted but the girl didn't back down. Frowning Eli took Cariela's hand again and gently led her to her car.

"I'll be back, I promise. Lock the doors and if anything happens, drive. Don't do anything else, just drive," he said and waited for her to get into the car before turning back to the Cullens who were directly behind him. "What?" He asked, crossing his arms. "There's another vampire heading towards Forks. We don't know if they're like us, but Edward wanted us to warn you just in case they weren't... friendly," the boy spoke, Emmett. Eli tilted his head and frowned. "Just one? You guys can't handle one little vampire, even after everything your family did to protect Bella? Not that it helped her any." Eli said and Rosalie took a step towards him but Emmett stopped her. "We're not here to fight," Emmett said looking at her pointedly. Her eyes narrowed at Eli but she tore her arm from Emmett's grasp and backed off.

"Look, we just wanted you to be prepared. Warned, in case something happened. Okay?" Emmett asked and Eli nodded. "I'll warn the pack." he said and lowered his voice. "But did you really have to appear out of nowhere like that? Seriously, I thought you vampires were all about secrecy and stuff." Eli said and Rosalie shrugged. "Dead is dead. No matter how you put it. If we die because we were protecting others who are less off than us, it's worth it." Rosalie said and Eli raised an eyebrow. "Whatever, I'll tell them." He said and Emmett clapped a hand on Eli's shoulder. "Thanks man, and if you see the new guy, don't do anything I wouldn't do?" Emmett said and in the blink of an eye they were gone.
User ImageIt happened so fast; they were just there in a the blink of his eye. She cocked her head slightly at the Cullens, almost such a beautiful family. Strange and cold, but still unnaturaly beauiful. Furball? she asked herself, peaking under Eli's arm to see the couple. "We need to talk. Privately," Rose muttered quietly, standing strong. Eli took her by the hand, after rolling his eyes, and lead her to her front seat of the car. Her eyes swirled with confusion, but she didn't bother to ask anything when he told her to get in the car, and drive if anything happened. That deeply worried her, not for herself, but also for her new friend.

Drawing in a deep breath, she nodded at his words before slipping into the car and slamming down the locks. That didn't stop her from spying from the back mirror, though. She couldn't hear them easily, but she could catch a few words out of there conversation. "Edward wanted us to warn you..." she snagged Emmett muttering. "Just one?" she heard Eli say not long after that. The rest was pretty blurry, besides the last sentence Emmett said to him before leaving. No, not leaving, vanishing. When they were gone, her mind started racing with questions. She waited impaciently for him to either get in the Jeep or tell her she could come out. She didn't want to disobey him, even if they Cullens were gone.

Sighing, Eli lifted his hands and pulled at his face. Today was not going well. Walking around to the driver's side of the car, Eli waited until Cariela had either opened the door or rolled down the window before trying to formulate any kind of plan. "I know you have questions, that's a given after what you just saw. But I need you to wait, at least until we can get to my place." Eli said, knowing that since his place was out of the way of Forks, they'd no doubt be safer there. He waited for her response before doing anything else. This was getting bad for her faster than one could say 'wolf'.
User ImageCarefully opening the door, the girl stepped down from the larger step to her seat. She had just managed to open her mouth a little before he rambled off what he needed to say. Closing her mouth, she nodded her head, though she wasn't the least bit happy with having to wait any longer. "Alright. Do you mind just leaving your car here so we don't have to stop?" she asked, glancing up into his dark eyes. She really, really hoped that they wouldn't have to take any longer then they acutally had to. Her mind was ready to burst with questions. Leaning on her right hip, she folded her hand over that hip, waiting impaciently for his answer.

"Absolutely, my car'll be fine if we leave it here," Eli said with a shrug. He owned a Prius, no one would steal a Prius. "We can get to my place faster if I drive, though I'll understand if you don't want me driving your car," he said, and waited for her response. He prayed to the good spirits that the pack was doing okay, though with their Alpha in control, they'd be fine. Eli reached out and held her hand, scared that she'd reject him once he told her. He'd have to tell her, not only because what she had seen, but because she was his imprint. He only wished she hadn't had to find out this way.
User ImageCariela felt a sigh of relief slip past her lips at his agreement. The next remark of his was a reasonable one; besides, she didn't even know where they were going. Nodding at his request, she was about to go around the other side of the car when he took her small, cool hand in his. Acting upon insinct, the girl wiggled her hand out of his grasp, only to gently wrap her arms around his large waist in a hug. Resting her head on his chest for a moment, she muttered, "Relax. Everything's going to be alright." She didn't know if she was lieing or not, but, with him, she felt very safe. The angel was fully sure he would protect her if needed, even to death. A shiver danced down her spine at the very though of that having to happen. She didn't like fighting; fighting ment bleeding, gore as well as having to watch people get hurt. She really didn't want that happening to Eli. He was too nice a guy to be hurt.

Eli stood there for a moment after she'd hugged him, startled by the action. It had caught him off guard, at least for that kind of action. He eventually wrapped his arms around her, squeezing her in comfort when she shivered, and prayed to the good spirits she was right. After a minute of standing there like that he reluctantly pulled away. "Come on, we won't get anywhere standing here like lumps," he said, trying to joke and lighten the mood even though he felt like any moment he was going to jump out of his skin and morph. The Cullens had put him on edge and though Cariela was helping, he still felt like he was about to snap.
User ImageThe angel never really noticed how warm he really was until he pulled away from the hug, leaving her a little chilly. Eh, his jacket would keep her warm for a while. She smiled at him once before going around the back and slipping into the passenger-seat. Closing the door gently, Cariela started messing around with the dials on the radio/CD player. A CD was already in there, a mixed one that Cariela had burt herself. The first song that started filling the car was To Make You Feel My Love by Kris Allen. She softly sang along with the beautiful song, staring out the window. She had that creepy crawling feeling, like she was being watched from ever angle. It was a rather unsettling feeling. But, the music that echoed in her ears was doing a good job to help calm her nerves, making her relax more and more into the dirty leather seat.

Eli started the engine of the car before Cariela had even gotten into the passenger seat and by the time she was done fiddling with the radio, they were already pulling onto Forks Avenue. It was a bit corny, in his opinion, to have a street named after the city, but he didn't have a say in the matter. He continued along the road that cut straight through Forks until he got to the turn off for Olympic Drive. From there he turned onto onto Huckleberry Lane, then followed Big Pine Way all the way to the end. He took a trail at the end onto a dirty flat area where he'd set up a double wide. It was a bit plain, but it was home to him. He pulled up in the usual spot he usually parked his Prius and killed the engine.
User ImageCariela watched the streets diligently, making sure to know the way, or at least have an idea, on the way to his house. If she needed to get there for some odd reason, such as the strange thing regarding the Cullens, she would know the way. When the roar of the engin cut from her ears, the angel swallowed dryly. The song that managed to calm her nerves didn't have an affect on her now, making it hard to keep a calm mindframe. Drawing in a deep breath, she started with a small, innocent question. "Would you rather go to that spot you were talking about, or talk in here?" She, personaly, didn't really have a preference, but if he wanted to show her that spot still, she wouldn't object.

Eli looked at her after she'd asked the question and thought hard about it. He didn't have any idea where this new vampire was, or where he'd come from if he tried to enter Forks. He didn't want to risk Cariela's safety just to show her a silly meadow. Though, with the way the wind was tossing smells around today, he might just smell the bloodsucker before it even got close. But no, the meadow could wait until it was safe. If, in fact, it would ever be safe. "Not today, here I know you'll be safe," Eli said and pulled they keys from the ignition, handing them to her before getting out of the car.
User ImageShrugging, the angel figured he would know best about whatever the danger was. It was obviously a danger if he was talking about safety. She snagged the keys, shoving them back into her pocket. That reminded her about her sweatshirt in the car. Digging around behind the seat, she found the black sweatshirt with ease, glad her car wasn't to messy. Slipping out of the leather seat, the girl gracefully landed on feet, removing the jacket and slipping on the black hoddie. She skipped to his side, handing him back his leather jacket before letting him lead the way inside.

Accepting his jacket, Eli placed his hand on the small of her back, keeping his eyes, ears, and nose open for any sign that something was off. They made it inside the house without any trouble, but Eli was still cautious about it all. Locking the door, Eli closed the curtains on the only window in the living room he had and tossed his coat on the chair as he went down the hall to his room. There was another door in there that led to the backyard. It was usually the way he took if he needed to get out of the house and phase really quick, but it needed to be locked. He wasn't taking a single risk with this.

Walking back into the living room he cleared off the magazines and trash into a pile off to the side, he left the mess on the coffee table. "Sorry for the mess, I hadn't really planned on any of this.." Eli said running a hand through his hair as he looked around the place. It was amazing he'd lived there for so long with the place in such a state. Shaking his he walked into the kitchen and opened the fridge. "You want something to drink? I got Coke, Pepsi, Mountain Dew, Vitamin Water..." he said his voice trailing off as he picked up a vitamin water for himself. He was rambling, and busying himself as he always did when he was antsy and didn't know what to do. It was a terrible habit, just like biting his lip when he was nervous, but one he'd had for years. He tapped his fingers on the side of the bottle as he looked at her, mentally cursing himself for having gotten her into this.
User ImageQuietly following him into the small home, Cariela let her eyes roam around while he was busy locking all the doors. For some reason, the angel didn't feel any safer with the doors locked. It wasn't like whatever was out there would just walk in the door, or just leave if it was locked. Another small shiver ran down her spine as she made her way into the living room. When he said something about the mess, Cariela tired to lighten the mood a little. "Na, it's fine. My room at home is worse." Lightly breathlessly, she settled down onto the couch, watching him try to busy himself in the kitchen. "I'm fine," she replied, rolling her eyes at his nervous behavior. It was all too obvious that whatever this thing was, it was after them (or at least him) and he was trying to take his mind off of it. Good, she thought to herself, crossing her knees and laying her hands gentle on top of them, a very lady like pose. It felt complety natural to the angel though she really didn't think of it as a pissy, lady pose. It was just her way of sitting. Taking a deep breath, Cariela started blankly at the wall while she thought of the first question she wanted to ask. It came to her almost instantly: what was after them?
