When the called went to voicemail, Lydecker was furious. He sighed, though, and called again, his blue eyes squinting angrily at the wall. He listened to the dial tone with impatience.

Keisa woke up after a while, panting and sweating as he looked around. "Zane?! Zane?!" He yelled out, his body tensing in fear. Had his nightmare not really been a nightmare? Where was Zane? He felt something crunch lightly under his palm and picked up the note. When he read it, he sighed in relief. "God damnit..." He mumbled and crumpled the note up.
Alec shook his head and took her hand back, holding it firmly but gently in his palm. "Elle, we have to take care of this. It'll get infected if we don't." He move close and leaned her body against his chest as he threaded the needle. He kissed the top of her head. "I know. I hate needles, too. But you need to push that fear aside when it's necessary." He whispered to her soothingly as he, as gently as physically possible, pushed the needle through her skin and began to close the gash in her palm.
