Within the world, the eight elements reign over all. Natural disasters wipe out anything in their path; floods, earthquakes, hurricanes, forest fires, lightning storms, droughts, tornadoes. It all wreaks destruction. Little did the humans that inhabit this earth know that there were always 8 beings. Eight humans always endowed with the abilities of one of the eight elements. When one dies, another is immediately born to replace him/her, gifted with the same power. That of either fire, water, earth, air, light, darkness, metal or electricity. These eight always manage to keep themselves concealed, masking what they really are from every other typical human being around them. But one man was watching very closely.

A power hungry man, elderly and thoroughly educated in science, has been watching these eight elemental beings, waiting for the opportune moment. As the years pass and he grows in age, so do the elemental beings. As he waits for them to grow, for them to learn, he watches them as they attempt to live like normal humans. He knows better, though, and sees the strain in them as they attempt to shadow what they really are from the eyes of their families and friends. But when all eight of them, each living a very different life, reaches the appropriate age, this man, this scientist, decides to bring them to him. He sends for each of them, distributing his spies, his employees, to fetch them. Hoping for them to accept his very generous invitation.

For some reason or another, each elemental accepts. Traveling different distances around the world, the eight arrive at the scientist's remote, private island and to a very large manor. Nothing has been explained to these eight beings, not even that they've been chosen because he knows what they are. It is all a mystery to each of them and the only thing they receive upon arrival is a tour of their new home and a custom made bedroom for each of them. What does this seemingly sane professor announce? What are these young people here for? In joining this thread, you will see, sooner or later.

General
Minimal swearing, using some occasionally is okay (for effect) but not in every sentence please. I don’t want this thread to become a harem -- that means no cybering. Please keep it PG-13, and build up your relationships with people, instead of bonding to them instantly. Be respectful of others, and don’t take what happens in the thread personally.

Literacy/roleplaying guidelines
This is the first and foremost rule. If you join my roleplay, I would like you to be at least literate. I prefer advanced literate, meaning no less than 2-3 paragraphs per post. I want good grammar and spelling, I don't want to try and read a post that has mistakes in every sentence. I understand writer’s block, but please try your hardest to meet the requirements. That also means no more than, say, 7 paragraphs per post. I would like you to roleplay in third person, with no god-modding or controlling the characters of another user, unless said user has allowed you to do so. All characters have their strengths and weaknesses, remember. When typing out of character, take it to the OOC thread. If you’re planning to make a major plot change, discuss it with your fellow RPers and myself first.

Commitment
This is a long-term roleplay, meaning if you join, you stay. Can’t handle that? Then leave. I'm expect one post every 2-3 days. If you don’t post within a week, I will PM you a warning. We’re serious when I say dedication. If you can’t handle the amount of posts this thread needs, then don’t sign up. I want this roleplay to last for a long time, and to do that, I need serious roleplayers. If you need to leave for a while, tell me and also the amount of time that you’ll be away so that I can make changes accordingly.

Profiles
You can find the Profile Skeleton in the Profile Thread. PM your finished profiles to me with the title “The Elemental Eight”. I need 4 boys and 4 girls, so when the limit is reached, I don’t want any more people coming in. If you don’t meet requirements, I won’t accept you, simple as that. Your character’s personality must also be suitable for the element (I don’t want a peppy person playing darkness). Reservations are fine for character spots. Please make sure your profiles are descriptive, but not too revealing about your character. I still want to find out what your character is like in the roleplay as well. Also, I don't want realistic humans or hand-drawn pictures. It's great if you're a budding artist, but I don't think your hand-drawn pictures are suitable here. Digital drawings and well-done anime are the only appearances that I will accept. Lastly, I want a sample paragraph along with your application, just so I know that you're capable of.

Remember, it's the year 2020. Things aren't much different, except for the slightly more advanced equipment and machinery.

How you got to this island doesn't matter, it could be by boat, plane or helicopter, all that matters now is the beautiful sanctuary that seems to chorus before you in it's beauty.

The island you arrive on is remote, featuring white sand beaches and tropical forests. Which island, you aren't sure of. There's a massive expanse of small, uncharted land masses in the Pacific Ocean, just like this one. All you know is that this warm, balmy haven is off the coast of South America, equatorial in climate. A towering mansion stands out in the middle, a manmade construction in the midst of the surrounding growth -- the house that you will be living in for the duration of your stay here.

All you know when you arrive is that there's something strange about the huge manor that stands before you. Something you'll soon find out, to be sure.
