"....A Shimmering Blade With Your Gaze"

Jinx blinked when she heard someone talking to her, and she had been about to walk away from the bar of the tavern. As she turned her sliver eyes around, looking at the dark haired female, her first thought that she had to be Japanese with the way she looked. Then again, her clothes weren't all Japanese. Most people would have not listen to this female, or even tell her to piss off. But Jinx was different then most people, she gave a calm easy going smile at the woman and said in a low voice, almost alto like. "Hello there Melani." She then chuckled as she raised a brow in amusement. "You know, not many people goes up to a stranger and tell them their name. I might add, that I'm...." She pauses. In her nature, she was always laid back and didn't care if people knew her name. But then again, there were those PVP players, picking on the weaker ones for fun. Shaking her head at the thought, she smiled again and continued, "I'm called Jinx." She bows slightly to the girl, thinking of her old ways as a Japanese. Then again, Jinx was only half Japanese back in the real world. Well, 'was' would be the term she used. She held her bottle of wine in one hand as she smiled at Melani.

(( I know, but she doesn't. ^_^ Since she hasn't met another PC the entire time she's been in Myth, she can't recognize a PC from an NPC. ))

That was a strange reply. Melani hesitantly bowed back in response, as she didn't want to offend Jinx by ignoring her gesture. Besides, it gave her some time to think about how to answer--and to take a closer look at the woman she was talking with. Hmm...

In truth, she'd expected to say hello and get a slightly wary hello back, ask about quests, and then move on, but that didn't look like an option anymore. As she straightened, Melani acknowledged the comment with a small nod and smile. "I'm sorry if I'm intruding," she said. "I don't introduce myself to people very often, so my skills are pretty rusty. This is the first time I've been outside of Thrystra," Melani added as explanation. Granted, even in Thrystra she rarely talked to anybody, but there was no point mentioning that. "It's very nice to meet you, Jinx. Do you mind if I sit with you for a minute?"

Jinx gave another chuckle at the answer Melani gave, and just smiled brightly at her. "It's alright. I'm kind of the same, although I do make alot of friends easily. I just don't go up to any stranger I see. I have to know if they are alright." She smiled and then nodded her head, pointing to the table she was heading to. "Sure, but we might have to sit there. I rather keep my eyes on the room, if you know what I mean." Smiling, Jinx then leads the way over to the table in the corner of the tavern, and sat down in the chair that faced the wall. She places the bottle of wine on the table, as well as the cup she brought with. She uncorks it and pours half the glass full. As she took a sip, she lets out a happy sigh and drank more. Jinx then turned her silver gaze to the woman with a small easy smile. "So, what is it that you want to ask me?"

(( Sorry I took so long, I wandered away to make a snack. XD Your Location bar is so pretty! ...but hey, wait a minute, how do you bold and italicize at the same time? Gaia won't let me do that to my posts anymore. ))

The second Melani's suspicion had kicked in, the stiff awkwardness that plagued her meetings with strangers began to activate, but Jinx's good-natured replies quickly soothed it away. She could understand why this woman easily made friends.

"I just don't go up to any stranger I see. I have to know if they are alright."

"Oh...that's a good point," Melani mused. She'd had become so used to the safety of Thrystra City, she had almost forgotten that the game could be dangerous. Melani mentally chided herself for being so careless as she followed Jinx to the table. From the way Jinx kept suggesting danger, J'oran might not be as peaceful as she had heard. Well, that was alright, she liked to keep tabs on her environment too.

Melani sat down in the chair against the other wall and took a closer look around the floor while Jinx poured her drink. The room felt peaceful enough. The windows filled the room with diffuse light, complete with dust motes sparkling in the sunbeams. The wood looked old, well-worn, but relatively undamaged, and a stand of wood carvings (for sale, 10 pence each) sat against the wall beside them. The barmaids had pleasant faces, and the low hum of busy chatter filled the room. Melani had to admit, she couldn't imagine much violence happening here, but it always paid to be careful. After all, they weren't real people. It could all be a setup, a lure of safety, before-

Before what? They wouldn't go through the trouble of sending her here just to kill her off. Melani inwardly sighed.

Jinx then turned her silver gaze to the woman with a small easy smile. "So, what is it that you want to ask me?"

Melani smiled back, but she folded her arms on the table to keep herself from fiddling. "Well, at first I wanted to ask about quests, or if you knew where I could go to get information on them," she said a little too fast, "but now-" Melani took a breath, her head tilting slightly to the side as she watched Jinx, "what I'm mainly wondering is...are you..." she bit her lip--shoot, how do you ask this?--"human?"

"....A Shimmering Blade With Your Gaze"

As Jinx drank her wine, she watched Melani look around the tavern. Even though her face was easy going and calm, as well as the way her eyes were. There was a sharpness in her silver gaze as she watched the woman. Like she done this before many times again. And it was true, Jinx was always good at sensing what people felt. It wasn't a skill she could use, but it was more of something she had in the past life and something she didn't consider a skill at all. When she was taking another sip of her wine, she heard the question out of Melani's mouth, about being human. Jinx couldn't help sputter a bit, and then laugh out as she coughed a few times to clear her throat. Grinning big now, she chuckled and wipes at her chin with a cloth. "I don't think I've been ever asked that before. And yes, I'm one of the normal players, not a NPC." Jinx reaches to pour some more wine in her cup, and didn't drink from it yet. Instead, she thought about the first question the girl asked, and tilted her head to the side as she had a raised brow. "I would believe the two places to find a place for quests would be....One, at the police building or where knights and guards go. The second, I think might be in the town square, by the large fountain here." She shrugs a bit, since she been only here in the bustling city for two days. And only came here to find someone to do quests with.

(( Hm...yeah, I tried copying and pasting part of your code into my post to see if it'd work, but nope. You must have a magic program. ^^ Oh well! I'm satisfied with what I've got. ))

Melani's face flushed hot at Jinx's laughter, but better laughter than offense. Players, that's what they were called. "I just thought- you're the first one I've met," she mumbled. "I mean, I had a feeling, but I wanted to make sure...um. Yeah. Thank you." She glanced up quickly at Jinx before returning her attention to the table. Wow! So there were others for sure-

Her tumbling train of thought cut itself short as Jinx explained where to find the quests. Melani listened respectfully. She already knew which quests were open in Thrystra City, but the information was still useful. "I'll have to visit the town square," she commented. Town squares almost always carried useful information, and she wanted to visit the famed J'oran markets anyway. She didn't know where it was, but that should be easy to figure out. "But actually, I don't need to find quests so much as figure out how they work. I mean, how do you know you're ready?" she said, her tone soft and musing. "I could try to do one on my own, but that might be lethal...how do you know?"

Sure, she might be worrying about it too much, but there was a reason why she wanted to tag along with a strong party first- Melani blinked as an idea struck her. "Are you going on a quest soon?" she asked, trying not to let her excitement show through. "And, if you don't mind my asking, are there many- ah, players in the world?" What were they like? Were many dangerous, or were nearly all of them friendly (or at least neutral)? Melani didn't think it'd make sense to put dangerous people into the game, but you never knew. Maybe they did, and there'd be a whole good vs. evil war for the entertainment of the programmers. (There better not be, or she'd find a way to knee them in the gut.)

So many questions, but she tried her best to stay nonchalant, or at least avoid seeming over-eager. She didn't want to drive Jinx away.

...Melani review her last question in her mind and suppressed a smirk. Were there many players in the world indeed...

Jinx chuckled and just smiled as Melani asked question after question. Instead of feeling annoyed, she was kind of having fun. She never thought she meet another person like this. Like one of her friends she helped out long ago in her past life. Shaking her head slowly, she now leans on her arms that were on the table. "It would be best not to do it on your own if it's your first quest. I tried doing the same, but I nearly died." She winces at the memory and said in a mutter, "Luckily I knew how to make potions and herbs then." Shaking her head she listens to what the woman asks and tilted her head to the side as she thought about it. It was true, she needed to go on a quest or mission so she could test out her new attack. Jinx practiced and trained in the forest and on trees and rocks. But that wasn't the same as a enemy. She only used it once, and on a bandit NPC that tried to attack her. Smiling, she said in a soft low voice, to calm Melani down a bit. "I'll come with, and heck, why not make a party. Although we need to find one more person or two to join to make a party I believe." She stops as she thinks, and soon nodded her head. "Yeah, we need one more person for a party. It would be best to get one when we do a quest together." She soon stood up, and corks the bottle of wine. It was half full, and took it in hand. She paid the bartender a pretty penny for it, so it was hers now. Jinx nodded her head at the girl, giving her a lazy like smile. "Come on, we'll check out the town square and look at the missions while looking for anymore people to join."

(( Last post for tonight. I'll be back tomorrow! ))

Melani almost sighed; she had had a feeling she would need partners--friends--to do quests. Yeah, she was starting to regret being such a hermit for the past year, even if it had taken her quite a while to come to terms with her old life being over. Potions and herbs...to think less than two years ago she had been studying drugs to treat cancer. All of that wasted...

Her burst of enthusiasm faded under the flare of the old ache, but Jinx's offer to go questing together kept Melani's serious nature from sliding completely back into place. She smiled gratefully at the woman who had essentially taken her under her wing. "Thank you so much," she said softly before rising from her chair and following Jinx to the town square.

Even if she couldn't read too much into it--even if Melani fully expected Jinx to leave once the quest was over--Melani always appreciated the little kindnesses she could find. Her mind felt lighter than it had in ages. She even almost looked forward to meeting another stranger.

The zephyr of autumn brushed her cheek as she left the tavern, and Melani sent it a silent thank-you, too.

The woman nodded her head, and then smiled as Jinx led the way to the town square. As they walked, something at her hip would bounce and move as she walked. Since the lower half of her Japanese outfit was dark red, the other dark object was slightly hidden. It was a long Katana blade at her waist, her only weapon she had when getting her. She didn't mind it, in fact she loved it. Since she always loved Japan, she filled her room up with Japanese stuff. As they walked in silence, she soon slows down so she was side by side Melani, and looked at her with a smiling face, it was a calm one, as well as peaceful like. She spoke in a low voice, almost quiet like yet still she would be able to hear her, "Somethings on your mind Mel, what is it?" She tilted her head to the side, when the breeze came by, her long black and white hair blew back away from her face a bit as she stared at the woman by her side. Her face was laid back, but there was warmth and a hint of concern in her silver gaze when she looked at her.

Mel? She liked that. It made her feel like they were almost friends. Melani hoped whatever quest they went on was long. "It's nothing," she answered with a small shake of her head. "Just a memory of the old days." She almost said a memory of a wasted life, but that'd just be over-dramatic. Any moment that touched her enough to care was never wasted.

Melani shook the moment off with a smile to meet Jinx's gaze and caught a flash of silver. She almost felt startled, but it faded before reaching maturation. Silver eyes? Not so strange in a virtual world. But they were pretty. They made her think of moonlight.

Melani's smile deepened. She bet there could be poems written about this woman.

Her gaze dropped down to the sheathed sword at Jinx's hip; the occasional bounces had caught her eye like a butterfly caught the eye of a cat. A melee fighter? "What kind of players do you think we should look for?" she asked. "I'm an archer," she added quickly, remembering that her own bow was stashed in her rucksack, as were her arrows. The rucksack was so useful, Melani loved hers like a pet.

Raam smiled and closed his eyes. it looked like these two were eager for a fight.
"Shut up." Raam directed his words towards the man. "If only you knew the terrible things the Black Hand has done. Killing innocents, raiding villages. They need to be stopped." For the first time since he started talking to these people, he opened his eyes enough to show his black irises and pupils. "Stay out of my way!" Raam shouted as he closed his eyes again. He didnt want to have to resort to teh Vacca swords so early in the day, so he would do a simple manuever. Raam swayed carefully as he kept beat in his head. the dance of the chameleon, an attack that hightens his sences and does some pretty powerful strikes.

Raam swayed towards his opponent, the girl, and went to strike with his left blade, a lunge, and immediately followed it by a lightning fast over-head swipe.

Would a butterfly without wings still manage to fly?

Piper watched as the man walked to his table and asked if he could sit there. "No, go ahead. It's nice to actually meet a Player."

Piper never really ran into any of the player in Tryferia. He's seen them, but not talked to them. "Talking to NPC's gets quite annoying. I've had one repeat the same phrase over and over on me. Sorry, I'm talking to myself." He smiled.

Raiden frowned, ducking backwards and rolling back. She had assassinated a man who fought very, very similar to this man. "Damn, not even a chance to talk. Dude, calm down. I don't want to fight you, and I doubt my companion here does either. I can answer some questions, but only after you swear to me that you won't lay a finger on Raiden or Adalia." She said quickly and lowly. She didn't want to fight, thoug if she needed to, she would, even if she would hate it. Unless, if course, she cast 'Sleep', which she wasn't very good at unless the other person wasn't moving, especially since it required her to breath on someone..."Also, they weren't innocents, they were people that other people paid the black hand to assassinate, and only villages who needed raiding were raided. Get your facts straight before you go hunting them down."

She just smiled when Mel said it was nothing, and just shrugs then. "Alright, it's your life not mine then. I won't ask if you don't want to tell." Jinx chuckled slightly as they continue to walk. When she asked about what other players, and to find out that she was a Archer, she grins at her. "Thats very good, we would need a Archer on most quests since they are good at long distance." Jinx nodded her head a bit as she looked straight ahead, still talking to Mel. "I'm sort of a melee fighter, but I have trained enough to use a attack that's kind of long distance." She winces a bit, "Although, I might be only able to do it three or so times before getting weak." Soon, she was thinking. Lifting up a hand to rub her chin, her silver gaze narrowed straight ahead as she stops. They were close to the town square, but Jinx had to stop to think. Her mind whirls around as she thought about the different type of players here. As well as players needed in a quest. She had always been a reader, and one time read a RPG type Manga long ago in the real world. As she remembered, she spoke in a low mummer to Mel. "I would think we need a type of Mage, or along the line of someone good with Magic. As well, we'll need another melee fighter in case. Hmmmm," Jinx soon closed her eyes as she crossed her arms. Her mind thinking this way and that, she soon nods her head with a bright smile on her face. Opening her silver eyes to look at Mel. "Yes, we need someone good with Magic, that's who we need. And if it's possible, we could find another melee fighter to add along."

Daniel took out his sword and slashed at Raam. "No, YOU don't understand who you're attacking." Daniel said angrily. He was going to protect Raiden no matter what, and he certainly took her word over this clown's. "Back off now before you die." He warned. He wasn't above using skills on him as well, though he always thought they were tedious.
