(( Sorry
I took so long, I wandered away to make a snack. XD Your Location bar is so pretty! ...but hey, wait a minute, how do you bold and italicize at the same time? Gaia won't let me do that to my posts anymore. ))
The second Melani's suspicion had kicked in, the stiff awkwardness that plagued her meetings with strangers began to activate, but Jinx's good-natured replies quickly soothed it away. She could understand why this woman easily made friends.
"I just don't go up to any stranger I see. I have to know if they are alright."
"Oh...that's a good point," Melani mused. She'd had become so used to the safety of Thrystra City, she had almost forgotten that the game could be dangerous. Melani mentally chided herself for being so careless as she followed Jinx to the table. From the way Jinx kept suggesting danger, J'oran might not be as peaceful as she had heard. Well, that was alright, she liked to keep tabs on her environment too.
Melani sat down in the chair against the other wall and took a closer look around the floor while Jinx poured her drink. The room felt peaceful enough. The windows filled the room with diffuse light, complete with dust motes sparkling in the sunbeams. The wood looked old, well-worn, but relatively undamaged, and a stand of wood carvings (for sale, 10 pence each) sat against the wall beside them. The barmaids had pleasant faces, and the low hum of busy chatter filled the room. Melani had to admit, she couldn't imagine much violence happening here, but it always paid to be careful. After all, they weren't real people. It could all be a setup, a lure of safety, before-
Before what? They wouldn't go through the trouble of sending her here just to kill her off. Melani inwardly sighed.
Jinx then turned her silver gaze to the woman with a small easy smile. "So, what is it that you want to ask me?"
Melani smiled back, but she folded her arms on the table to keep herself from fiddling. "Well, at first I wanted to ask about quests, or if you knew where I could go to get information on them," she said a little too fast, "but now-" Melani took a breath, her head tilting slightly to the side as she watched Jinx, "what I'm mainly wondering is...are you..." she bit her lip--shoot, how do you ask this?--"human?"
