I'm going down in a blaze of glory...

Seth's mouth twitched ever so slightly. He'd never experienced an earthquake before, and the fact that they happen so frequently here convinced him to slowly slink down the rubble pile. He plopped down, and leaned back on a smooth rock that looked like a reclining chair. Despite it being rock it was very comfortable. "Where I come from we didn't have earthquakes. There was the a tornado every blue moon, but that was in the lower part of the state away from us. Really we didn't have any troubles with natural disasters. Except for when there was too much rain or snow and certain areas flooded.. Then again we had an old dormant volcano. Didn't say dormant for long though..."

Lacie watched Seth and noticed he was a bit...nervous. She slid down next to him and gave a concerned look. "You ok?" she asked. She knew that if you have never been in an earthquake it must sound painful. But, she was used to it. She'd seen so many, they were like a natural thing to her.

^Thistle Kerrich^

Love has been nothing...

Thistle awoke with a start as a pile of rocks flew past her, further down the mountainside. She groaned and stood up, holding her bleeding side. She opened her eyes and took in the ruins before her. Her breath hitched. 'I'm dreaming. Th-this is just a dream. I-I fell asleep on the couch. Soon, mom will be home and she'll wake me up.' she thought, or hoped. The piercing pain in her side suggested otherwise however. She chanted numerous healing spells to no avail. The damage was to severe. She walked towards a puddle and appraised her reflecton. Her clothes wre tattered and her skin all cut up. "I'm a wreck." she groaned and shook her head. She fought back tears as realization suddenly struck her. 'Oh my god. My parents are dead. I'm...am I an orphan?!' she thought and a whimper escaped her gritted teeth. She hung her head and staggered towards what used to be her wonderful home.

He laughed, and looked at her thoughtfully for a moment. "Yeah, I'm alright. But it's not exactly safe to be up on a pile of loose rubble in the middle of an area that's frequently having earthquakes. You know?" That and he just didn't feel safe up on it. Gave him all the more a reason to get off the thing. His eye flickered for a moment. He was reliving a small flashback from something that had happened months ago.

He blinked suddenly, confused as to where he was and what he was doing here. A quick look around jogged his memory. It wasn't often that happened with the exception of when he was in school. He did it on purpose to make the time fly quicker. He snorted lightly. He figured that in some small way they must have all missed school, and that hectic rush rush rush daily life routine now that everything was thrown up into chaos.

Lacie looked at him and couldn't help but giggle. "Guess so...but it's always been so relaxing up here..." she said. She watched him closely then at the ground. It wasn't that safe at all, now that she thought about it. She looked off towards where her house was, or used to be, and suddenly, the idea struck her. "Hey, how about you guys come back over there? There's water, shelter, a little bit of food. It'll be perfect." she said.
Ellie and her dog, Georgie, where walking when something absolutely beautiful caught her eye. A field! "Come on Georgie! Let's go sit over there!! It looks so pretty. Its like theres nothing this beautiful around anymore you know? We should appreciate it while its here." Georgie just cocked his head. They walked for a couple of minutes until she found the perfect spot. Even though it was noon Ellie was extremel tired. Maybe we can just take a short nap... Ellie and her only friend then laid down for a well deserved rest.

Seth had to admit the offer was very, very tempting. He hadn't slept in an actual bed in a long time. Her house was most likely completely in tact. If not all at least some. More than what he was used too. A bath would be good too seeing as he was starting to get a little scruffy again. "Sounds like a good idea. That and it will be much safer there then here." Seth stood, grabbed his bag, and then offered her his hand. For once he'd gone long enough without having to worry about a panic attack. It was nice. Now, if only it was like this all the time.

Lacie smiled and put her hand into his. She stood up and looked at the group. "Um, before we go...can we see where Ian went? He kinda disappeared..." she said. She didn't want someone she just met dead already. She looked at Seth and couldn't help but smile. She didn't realize it, but for some reason, she just seemed...happier...

Love has been nothing...

Thistle continued down the mountain until she found herself staggering through what used to be her hometown. She limped to her parent's corporation and walked through the crumbling building. She gasped at what she saw. Bodies, severed parts, strewn about the place. She began to run. She dug through the rubble and almost gave up. Until she turned around. She saw her parents, or at least what was left of them and did the only thing a sane person would have. She threw up. 'Oh god. Oh god oh god oh god. They're dead they're...' she broke down and held her stomach. Her tears streams down her face and onto the ground. 'Oh no. Wh-what about Dawn?!' she suddenly remembered and got to her feet on shaky legs. She chanted a spell and she was instantly clean, though her wounds were still present. She felt semi better. Just incase, she chanted a spell for strength as she headed towards the ruins of her school. She had been off that day due to a fever, which still hadn't gone away. But did she have time for that? None. She stepped around and heard a soft whimpering. She followed the sound and found Dawn, crying in a corner. Her body was as cut up as hers. She gasped and ran to her friend, wraping her arms around her. Dawn looked up and tears dropped onto Thistle's shoulder. "Th-Thistle?! You're alive..? You're alive! Oh thank god!" she cried and returned the hug. They cried together for a few minutes before standing up. Thistle quickly recited the same spell she did for herself for Dawn and they left.

...but a broken promise.

'Ian, so that's his name....' Seth rolled his shoulders, and held up one index finger. "Just a second, let me tune my ears." He turned his ears on, and began to tune the others out for a moment. He heard all kinds of things. Leaking pipes, crumbling rumble, and a few other things he'd rather not talk about. He heard a hard thump, thump. It was coming from not too far from there. Seth crinkled his nose. He'd heard that sound a lot before. It reeked of despair. He hated despair. "Found him, he's not too far from here."

Lacie cocked her head. 'Tune?' she thought. She didn't quite understand it. Was that why he was able to hear her heartbeat? Well, whatever the reason, she would ask him later. "Well it's good that we found him...should we go tell him we're leaving?" she asked. She looked at the others and it seemed to her as though they weren't paying attention.

"Yeah we should tell him. Just in case anything happens he'll know where we are and can find us." From what he'd heard it didn't seem like he'd be moving anytime soon, but it was the right thing to do. Hopefully he'd snap himself out of whatever mood he was in and get up. They'd all experienced hardships, but that only meant they had to work twice as hard now. It was their job at the moment to do one thing. Live.

((What happened to the guy who was playing Ian? He sorta dropped off the map..))

Lacie nodded and looked around. "So where is he?" she asked. She honestly didn't know where he had gone. And if Seth could hear well, she was guessing he knew. As she waited for a reply, she felt the ground start to shake. It wasn't that bad at first, but soon it grew stronger and stronger until it was clearly noticeable. The small rocks jumped on the larger, vibrating ones. Lacie bit her lip and realized she was still holding Seth's hand. She gripped it tighter and looked at him. "We need to go...now..." she said with a concerned expression. She had seen too many earthquakes and knew this one was going to be pretty bad. Plus, it didn't help them much if they were on the unstable ruins.

"Everybody move!!" Seth felt the earth move beneath his feet. 'Great, what perfect timing.' He felt his arm start to go numb again but quenched it. He yanked Lacie forward not caring if he was gentle about it or not though he'd feel bad about it later. They had to move, and move quick. It was harder for him to focus now. His ears were ringing loudly and they felt like they were going to explode. He was sensitive to high pitched noises, and he had to be extremely careful about it. He needed something else to focus on. Some other kind of noise to help drown out the background noise.

"He's in some kind of graveyard from the sounds of it, but I don't think you'd want to head over there right now. Not unless you'd like to see the dearly departed!" He was trying to think. So, what was it that you do again for earthquakes? 'Get in a doorway, head between your knees..' He looked around and growled slightly. 'What doorway!? Everything's destroyed around here!!' He had at one point thrown her onto his back and darted crumbling rubble. He'd almost nearly tripped, and was ecstatic when he'd caught himself and continued running. When he was sure he'd found a safe enough spot he ducked into a door way, pulling Lacie close to him.

Ellie suddenly woke up and looked around. Nothing was wrong, but she knew in her heart that something would be soon. It was dark and everyone knew that they shouldn't leave themselves vulnerable at night. Ellie then picked up Georgie and used her magic to keep unwanted visitors away. " Ugh! I hate this! I finally find a really nice place to sleep and i can't even stay! What do you think, Georgie?" Georgie was still half-asleep and she could see his eyes drooping. Still holding him she started walking. "Better get moving."
