____________ Ayume

Ayume gracefully tiptoed across the remains of a crumbled building. It was hard to believe that the broken mess surrounding her was once a glorious city filled with lights, people, and simply life in general. As she pleasantly hopped from ruin to ruin, she began to remember how this world came to be what it was now.

She remembered back to when the earthquake hit. She was sitting quietly underneath the tree in her back yard. All was at peace as she sat quietly, thinking as usual, until the ground began shaking violently. It threw her everywhich way, and in what felt like only a minute or two, the world around her was half destroyed. That was only the beginning. Natural disasters hit one after the other, and it was hard to believe that someone as small and fragile as Ayume had survived.

As she continued on her way through the crumbled city, she heard what was believed to be a voice. Since the world was so incredibly quiet, it was easy picking up the faintest of noises now. Ayume's eyes widened, and her mouth tweeked upward into a half smile. She began picking up her pace, racing forward towars the 'voice' that she heard. It wasn't long until two people came into view. They were high above her, one sitting and one standing. She paused, in disbelief. There were others who had survived? Her half smile perked upward into a full smile. "Hey! Hey you!" she shouted, waving her arms above her head and jumping up and down. She simply couldn't believe her eyes, this was too good to be true.

                                                                      User Image

Lacie jumped when she heard the girl and slid back off the rock she had been sitting on. Her legs flailed up and her head went crashing down onto a lower rock. She saw the hem of her dress touch her nose and her face turned redder and redder. She wanted to get up but no matter how hard she tried, she didn't have the will to make herself get back up. It was as if the shock had paralyzed her. She laid there, staring up at the crimson sky. She slowly felt the pain from the back of her head and winced.

Seth has spent the night in the remains of what used to be a warehouse. A thin ragged blanket the only thing between him and the cold. His ears twitched slightly, he heard voices.. But no that couldn't be? Could it? He hadn't seen people in very long time. If he'd been lucky enough to run into anyone they were either half dead, or were on their way to being dead. He was cradling the borders of sleep and awake. This was when he was most vulnerable to all the noises around him. A sharp intake of breath, the sudden tightness in his chest, and the numbing pain in his arm.

You'd think he was having a heart attack, but it was only a small panic attack. Of course, small things add up quickly. Paranoia, panic attacks.. they all led to accelerated hypertension. That can kill him. He knew that because of this he was shaving seconds, minutes, days off of his own life. But without the proper medication there wasn't much he could do about it. Except to try and let it go. Throwing the blanket up off him he stretched, and put his things back in his duffel bag. He tossed it up onto his shoulder with ease, stepped outside into the light and began looking for the source of the noise.

Ayume's eyes fixed on the two figures. She watched as one of the figures, that she was almost certain was a female, managed to slide right off of the rock she was sitting on. Her eyes widened in disbelief once more, for now she knew that she could be one-hundred-percent sure of what she was seeing. She wasn't hallucinating or imagining anything. These people were real, and she would no longer be alone. Hopefully.

Breaking into a sprint, Ayume made a mad dash for the pile of rubble. Her dress flew every which way as her legs heaved forward at an even pace. The dry air glided across her skin, and matted her long, luscious locks of hair. She didn't stop until she reached the top, half bent over with her hands on her knees, gasping for breath. By the time Ayume reached the two, she was surprised to find that the girl who had fallen, was still lying motionless on the ground. Slowly, she tiptoed closer towards her. Ayume let out a small gasp as she watched the girl wince in pain. Reaching one of her arms out, she offered her a hand, hoping she'd take it with ease.

Lacie saw an arm and blinked surprisingly. 'M-more people??' she thought. She slowly gathered her strength and placed her hand in the girl's. She tried not to look at Ian as she slowly pulled her dress back over her knees. She gripped a rock nearby with her freehand and pushed herself back up. Her face was still red but not as bad as it had been. She could still feel the pain in the back of her head but tried her best to ignore it. She looked down at her lap, trying to avoid seeing Ian. After doing something like that, she would be scarred for life.

Smiling, Ayume helped to lift the girl up onto her own two feet once more. As her delicate, porcelain arm drifted back down to her side, she couldn't help but smile. She turned to face the both of them, the guy and the girl that she had just stumbled upon, and exchanged a glance or two with each of them. She took in a deep breath. "Hmph. Well, my name's Ayume. And you two are...?" She exclaimed, placing her hands on her hips triumphantly. She left the question open, hoping that at least one of the two would conversate with her. Ayume wasn't sure if the two had been infected by some sort of disease, or if their human instincts had been impared from lack of human contact.

Looking around at the desolate city surrounding her, Ayume lowered herself down to the ground. She heaved a gentle sigh as she fluffed out her dress around her. It was almost depressing, the sound of silence that lingered all around. She hoped that things would start looking upward; if she could stumble upon two new people, just imagine how many others there were out there. She began to ponder.

                                                                      User Image

As he wandered through the city he picked up random baubles. Luckily they were things he would need for later.'Oh, this will come in handy..' Seth had found not only food rations, but a first aid kit. Which was great considering the one he had was down right pathetic. Looking up he sensed a couple of people nearby. Squinting with his one good eye he saw a bright pink dot in the distance.

It looked like a person but he wasn't sure. Putting the treasures into his bag he threw his bag up on his shoulder, and called out, "HELLO!?" He started walking towards that little pink dot, being ever alert as he did so. The last time he was careless he'd lost something.. He touched his bad eye, and recalled the day he'd been ambushed.

She was completely lost in her own thoughts again, and if it wasn't for an abrupt noise, she could've thought about things for much longer. Her eyes flashed open, and her body jumped a little. Astonished, Ayume pushed herself back into a standing position. Could it be? Another person? Her eyes flickered back and forth as she tried to spot the source in which the call had come from. When she finally noticed a tiny, moving speck out in the distance, her eyes lit up. "Hey! Up here!" She called, jumping up and down flailing her arms once more. It was such a relief knowing that there were more survivors out there than expected. If everyone that had showed up stuck together, they'd most likely be much safer. Or at least feel much safer. There was honestly nothing that could prevent more natural disasters from occuring, and that thought alone sent a slight chill rushing down Ayume's spine. She continued to hop up and down enthousiastically, though her mind began to wander, leaving her emotions feeling as twisted as ever. She waited, and watched as the dot in the distance approached the pile of rubble that she and the others were currently placed upon.

Lacie looked up at the girl. "I'm Lacie..." she replied. She glanced over at Ian and couldn't help but blush once more and look straight down. She couldn't help it. It was completely embarrassing for him to see her...like that. She let out a sigh and closed her eyes, trying to ignore the world around her...

Then, she heard a voice. A new one. She perked up and turned to see someone else. The only feature about him that stuck out was his silver hair. It shone in the dim light and was visible from probably almost anywhere that had light. She looked at the new girl and cocked her head, observing her actions. 'Why is she acting like this?' she thought. She looked back down off the rocks then back at her lap. She couldn't get herself to look up at Ian, no matter how hard she tried.

Seth's ears perked up. Someone had responded back to him, and from the looks of it there were a few more people with the girl. This all felt so.. surreal to him. Like he was in this ever lasting nightmare and just couldn't manage to wake up. What he wondered was why he was able to live this long in the first place. He believed in fate and all but he'd always presumed that if this wouldn't happen in his lifetime. As he drew closer he could better make out the figures. Two were girls, and there was another boy there. He admitted he was a little relieved considering he didn't want to be the only guy among the group.

He chuckled to himself, he hadn't even met them yet and was already calling them a group. Of course, when you think about it you don't really have much a choice in the matter. It was true there was safety in numbers, but numbers could slow you down if they don't know what they're doing. Seth looked for a safe spot, tossed his bag up there, and plopped down besides it. That girl who'd responded was perky, and the other was clearly embarrassed. Her lack of contact with the boy besides her gave it away quickly. "Thanks for responding back." He replied while looking at the sandy blonde haired girl. He gave a subtle, 'Are you ok?' look.

Lacie looked up at the boy who had just arrived and nodded. She studied him closely, noticing his eyepatch and bag. "I'm fine..." she said and gave a reassuring smile. She took a glance towards his bag once more then her eyes went straight back to her lap. It truly was amazing. She had just found three people in a matter of minutes. Especially now of all times. It surprised her, really. She had thought no one lived here anymore and, out of no where, three complete strangers pop up and introduce themselves.

Seth nodded slowly, he could hear her head pounding slightly. She'd most likely hurt herself. 'Well if she's sure..' He looked at them all briefly, and then stared out into the distance. He was taking in the ruined landscape. "Name's Seth, and you guys are?" Seth quietly pondered the integrity of the pile of rubble. It made him uneasy. He was sitting on something that could give way at any moment. But he was curious about where these people had come from, their stories..everything. How long had it been since they'd seen anyone? Was it as long as him?

The worlds in spinning into chaos....

The man sat against the crumbling wall of a building, watching the people around him. His face was kept hidden under a dark hood, and barely lit by the cigarette sitting in the edge of his mouth. One of his hands was shoved into his pocket, while the other grabbed the stick and flicked it to the ground, as he pushed the smoke out. He flattened the butt with his boot and sighed, stuff his other hand in his pocket. He looked around for any sighs of life that the city once held. His eyes gazing the landscape around him.

Finally, he saw something, a small group of people. It could be the break he needed, maybe they were friendly. He pushed himself off the wall. You will never know unless you go up and check for yourself. He thought to himself. He let out a small yawn and started towards the group of people, pulling out the pack of cigarettes and pulling out a new one. He lit it and pushed his hood down as he walked towards them.

.....its my mission to surive it.

Lacie heard the man and looked up at him once more. "Lacie." she said. She gazed off into the distance as well, admiring the once beauty of the city. She could only imagine the tall skyscrapers that were now crumbled beneath her. She looked back at Seth then her head was full of pain once more. She winced in pain and tried to keep it to herself. It was too hard, though to ignore the stinging pain from her head. She bit her lip in pain and looked at the others, hoping they didn't notice her pain.

Seth looked over his shoulder. There was yet another person. From the look of it they were smoking.."Nice to meet you Lacie." He inhaled deeply, the air smelled of ash and decay. It was gross. "Someone else is coming now too... Oh, by the way, I can hear your head pounding from here...So really you're not ok." He stared at her sternly. His mako eyes glowing in what little sunlight there was. He unzipped his bag and pulled out the first aid kit. He held it up in one hand, and tapped it with left index finger. She didn't have much of a choice in the matter now. "Here, let me see your head." He replied while making his way over to her.
