Lacie sat on the ruins of an old building and stared off into the distance. The sky was an odd shade of a near caramel and crimson, the rays from the sun shining through the thin, wispy clouds. The sky had been like that for years and there was no hope of it going back to normal. Lacie looked around the landscape. The area was New York. The buildings had crumbled and bodies crushed helplessly due to the earthquake. These ruins were her refuge. No one wanted to be in the deserted mess once called the city of lights. Whenever she came here, she could talk, sing, cry, practically do anything without a care in the world.
Today was exceptionally odd day, for a tsunami over in China had just decreased the world population last night. Now, if she knew correctly, there was only 178 people in the whole world. It was amazing what a few natural disasters could do. Lacie let out a small sigh. She wished the world would be better. The world was a terrible place to live in now. She looked across the ruins, hoping for just a bit of life, and saw nothing but crumbled buildings.
