Helen rolled to the side, her hunger satisfied and her reputation ruined. "What the hell was I thinking?" She thought to herself, her mind still hazy and dull around the edges. She sat up. Only now did she realize how the rough wooden floor scraped against her soft skin, leaving deep red welts along the pale surface. With a deep breath, she pushed herself to her feet. "There's nothing left of my reputation to ruin, so what the hell." She mumbled out loud to herself. Grabbing Rafe's shirt off the floor, she pulled it over her head. It hung to her knees and bagged off her small frame,not that she cared. With one last deep sigh, she squared her shoulders and headed out of the shop, into the street.
The bell above the door tinkled merrily as she stepped though it. She rolled her eyes, the reason it rang so innocently was the polar opposite. The road burned the soles of her feet as she did her walk of shame back to her home. "I suppose I deserve it...For all that I've done..." She thought sourly, pulling the shirt tighter around herself.
The wind whipped playfully at her messy pink hair, causing the tangles to turn to impossible knots. A wave of relief washed over her when she finally reached her home. Putting on hand on the knob, she tried to turn it and her blood ran cold. Locked....
And her keys were in her clothes, wherever they were.
