Lua looked around at everyone on the beach, astonished that this many people had survived, and walked over to where the jungle was. She glanced back at everyone else and entered the thick forestry, pushing branches out of her way as she explored. Lua planned, since they obviously weren't going anywhere, to build a hut. She started making herself a mental checklist for her future home from what she knew, which was:
Vines.
Bamboo.
Giant palm tree leaves.
Any wood that she could find.
She couldn't think of anything else at the moment, so she started looking for the items on her list.
There were many vines, but Lua couldn't get them because she needed a knife. She added that to her mental checklist, then backtracked and went back to the beach, a plan forming in her mind. She went over to the crashed plane. She could reach the door, which had been knocked off, and she pulled herself up and into the plane.
It was a wreck inside. Lua began her search for a knife and anything useful that she could find.
Well, there were lots of carry on bags strewn about, so Lua bent down to pick one up, a blue bag, and as she pulled it over her shoulder she turned, and a scream escaped her lips.
A dead man, in his forties, it looked like, was slouched in a seat, dried streaks of blood on his face. His eyes were wide open and looked both surprised and horrified.
Lua, trembling, made her way out of the plane, avoiding looking at the seats, picking up as many bags as she could carry and tossing them out of the plane before jumping out herself, landing on the sand. She reached for the first bag, the blue one, and zipped it open.
Men's clothes. A plastic canteen that could hold about half a liter of liquid, preferably in this case water. Leather shoes. A wallet, which Lua didn't open, just tossed to the side. She didn't want to see any I.D. of any of the dead people in the plane. A broken laptop. A glass bottle of cologne, which had leaked out and gave the entire contents of that bag the smell of it. Socks.
The next bag, which was pink and labeled Mary Kay, was filled to the brim with nothing but makeup. Lua sighed and opened the next bag, which was black, and contained to Lua's delight a knife and sheath.
Lua went through all of the bags until she found a pair of sneakers that were a bit big, but that was fine. She pulled off her sandals and put on a pair of socks and sneakers. She then pulled a pair of canvas pants on over her shorts and strapped the sheath to her belt and put the knife inside of it. She also found a light but sturdy jacket, many sizes too big but had many pockets. She put that on and pulled the bags to the edge of the forest, starting to sweat from the heat and her layers of clothing, then she turned and entered the jungle again, this time more prepared.
