She looked at him for a moment then looked back at the books, running a finger over their spines. "You're wasting your time."

His smiled went away. "I just want to be friends." he said shifting his position "how am I waisting my time?"

"Haven't you heard? The princess of ice needs no friends."

damien dusted himself off and picked up his violin " thank you mary " he nodded to her and started to turn away then turned back abruptly" and send my thanks to her highness to will you??? " he turned and walked back down the cobblestone alleyways loopking for a new spot to perform for the day...

Mary smiled lightly, shaking her head. She followed after him, having one more task from Rala to perform.

"Is that what people say about you? Or is that what you think too?" he said still looking at her "If its the people, I dont care. People need a friend at one point. Or you'll be alone"

She pulled down a book and turned it over. "You are an odd man, Alastair." She looked at him. "Fine. Try being my friend. We'll see how long you last. I doubt it will be much longer than you would have lasted as my suitor."

He looked at her "Im not leaving. I'll stay here as long as I need to be here, to get you to become my friend"

A faint smile touched her lips, but it was gone before he could be sure it had ever been there. She sat down in one of the soft chairs. "Suit yourself." She opened the book and began to read.

He smiled. "what are you reading now?" he asked sitting in a chair

"History." She said simply, not looking up from the books. This was one of many strategies she had for getting rid of unwanted attention.

"You know Im not going to leave right?" he said smiling

"I heard you the first time." She said simply, glancing up at him. "You should read while you're here. Less boring."

He grabbed a book and started to read "fine I will"

She hid a small smile behind her book. He was definitely more interesting than any of the others she'd seen, and she wondered if he really meant what he said.
