- The violet haired teenager yawned as she stepped off the charter plane. Normally, she would be all jittery and trying her hardest to hold her stomach acid down considering the amount of turbulence they went through to get here, but fortunately, she was tired from having to wake up so early, and therefore slept through both flights. After getting up at exactly five in the morning, three hours too early for her taste, her dad drove her to the Melbourne International Airport, where she had to take a two hour flight to Charlotte, NC from Florida. As if that wasn't bad enough, instead of a direct flight, she had to transfer planes to get to Michigan, which took another hour, and then transfer again to a charter plane for an additional forty minutes of flight time. Getting back on track, the seventeen year old yawned again as she stretched and followed the other people into the small airport to claim their belongings. She shivered slightly as the wind whipped about. She did well to check the weather for Sault Ste. Marie the day before her departure. Though it was her favorite kind of weather, the chill it brought was definitely not favored. Even with the gray-blue hoody she wore, her bones still felt the cool wind that blew about. Then again, it didn't help that it was unzipped, therefore exposing her black tank top and skin to the zephyr outside. At least she was smart enough to put a bandanna on, because she was not in the mood for moving her dyed hair out of her face every five seconds.
Once inside, her pale blue eyes that shined like electricity, do to her short locks that complimented them, instantly examined her surroundings. In little to no time, she spotted a sign being held by a man dressed like one of those agents that protect the president, and by his legs was her luggage. The sign read in big black letters, COLLEGE CONFERENCE, which was the code for those who were attending the school. It could've passed rather subtly if it weren't for how the guy was dressed. His attire versus the sign made it a tad bit hard to believe. Regardless of such, she strolled up to him with a smirk. "So college conferences have bodyguards now?"
"Are you Lenora Oriana Ricci?"
"Well I'll be damned, you really are like the secret service. What's my favorite color?" Lenora chuckled, and folded her arms beneath her chest as she awaited his answer.
"Purple...violet purple. Like your hair." He nodded to the top of her noggin.
"Oh poo, and here I thought you did your research." She bent down and retrieved her duffel bag, slinging it over her shoulder and grabbed her suitcase. Her other stuff would be shipped up later on in the "school year," but she at least had the basics and enough to last her two months. "So...? Do I get to stand here and look important beside you until the others arrive or what? I like to think I'm a big deal, but I'm not THAT big of a deal."
"Please head outside. There's a coach bus waiting for the twenty-four individuals participating in this event. Once everyone is here, we'll be heading to the campus, which is a twenty-five minute drive."
"Great...more of my precious time being wasted before my very eyes," she sighed and headed out the front doors as instructed. She handed her bags over to the butler-like guy standing beside the choice of transportation and boarded the black and gray vehicle. Without glancing around, she headed straight for the back, plopping down in a seat two rows from the bathroom. She made sure to lay down in the seat horizontally, allowing her legs to hang over the outside armrest, and pulled out her iPod - it was purple of course. Soon, the silent bus was filled with the sound of rock as Say Anything played from her ear-phones. While she waited, she closed her eyes, figuring she could catch an extra five minutes of sleep at most. "If I wanted to waste time doing nothing, I could've stayed home and went to normal school and do that single-handedly."
This was going to be one interesting year. She knew what she was getting herself into, especially since the letter stated as much, but she couldn't help but wonder what exactly would be going on out here in no-man's land. There had been a few vampires and lycanthropes that attended her school back in Melbourne, and back when she lived in Italy for the first seven years of her life, there were "vampire children" in her elementary school. She remembered those days clearly, or more importantly, she remembered the chaos that went on back then when the "mythical creatures" were first beginning to surface. How could she not when her parents were often out and about fighting for their rights? Some of her best friends when she was a kid had vampire or lycanthrope genes, but they weren't any different than her. Things brought her back to the other students that would be taking part in this "invigorating opportunity." What would the other students be like? Would there be any like her? On the surface, she could say she didn't care, but deep down, she longed to know of others like her. Okay, so she knew others of her kind existed, but she never met any, and if she did, she didn't know. Hell, she didn't know she was a Psychic Vampire herself until that letter came in - and boy did it explain the many things wrong in her life. Now, she was anxious to get to the school. She had too many questions, and she was anticipating many answers. But her excitement was contained by a mask of a person with an aloof manner, and upon such, she remained lain in her seat with an aura of someone completely not interested in this affair. As far as she would show, she was only here to get out of junior year hardships and nothing more.
