"Nothing." Daniel mumbled and turned around to head out of teh room. "Nothing at all." He said, much quieter now. He was a little ticked. So close! Stupid conscience.

[When love runs dry...]

She frowned, hugging herself lightly. "Wh-what are you?" It was asked very quietly, in case he heard her. "I'm so stupid..."
(Sorry I was banned from the comp.)

Love is a mirage the heart creates to hide the imperfections of the one closest to you.

"We actually have one of the original manuscripts of the Grimm fairy tales, the condition is slightly less than perfect, but it's still easily legible, well, at least if you can read German it is." He was attempting to draw her atte tion away from the book she was now holding.

"Really, now......goodness, the person who wrote this book seemed to know what he was talking about, and the pictures in here are so detailed as if he had seen the event himself or did them," she said a bit shocked. This book was like nothing she had ever seen before. "Who wrote this book?" she asked as she turned back to the front page and then she read the aurther's name and her face suddenly turned pale. The person who had wrote the book was a vampire and she knew it, she was wondering how many other books in here were written by vampires. She could feel her heart beat in her throat 'If there are other books like this one, the only way they could get them was if.............Oh no if they're vampires,'

He felt the shift in her aura, her sudden rush of fear, and adapted his strategy immidatly. He could have mentioned that the entire collection belonged to the old master of the estate, but diceide that that game was getting old. He send a telepathic message to the bats to close and bolt the doors while extending his fangs and smileing at her "Is there a problem? You seem tense."

She blinked and looked over at him and she dropped the book seeing his fangs. She let out a scream of horror. "You.....Your....Your..." she studdered.

"I'm a what? child of midnight? hemoglobicly impaired? there's always the plain and simple term of vampire, but that's just so politically incorrect." his half smile beamed with amusement. "Of course it would be very judgmental and assumptive of you to treat me any differently now than you had before, as nothing about me has changed, only your knowledge of me has." then he was right behind her, whispering in her ear "Of course running would be even more unwise, as the only thing it would change is that whatever occurs later will occur with you tired."

She gasped and turned around to face him putting her hand over her mouth and she backed up away from taking a few steps back. She wasn't going to run, she wasn't the type of person that ran from what she was afraid of. She slowly took her hand away from her mouth then asked in a soft voice "Why?.......Why are you doing this?"

"Why? well I would think it obvious, I do this for the same reason that you eat a hamburger: it is necessary to my continued existence, you're just miffed because things look considerably different from the cow's perspective."

Paris sighed and picked up a book then walked over to him and hit him on the head with it. "Your the strangest vampire I've ever met, you know that.......and the cutest. Let me guess your master planned this whole party thing huh?.....Because its your rebirthing day," she said and put the book back on the shelf. "I'm a vampire slayer! Did you really believe everything I said, did your master teach you nothing!" she yelled.

He shrugged "No, I didn't really, though I must admit that you really are a truly remarkable actress. I believe that I'm actually impressed enough to allow your survival. As a matter of fact, I've always intended to take a queen eventually, and you seem to fit my tastes quite well."

"Thank you and just how do I fit your tastes?" she asked and put her hands on her hips. She pushed some of her blonde hair out of her face then sat down in a chair and crossed her legs before she crossed her arms over her breasts.

"Well that's very simple, you're funny, apparently intelligent, conniving, and, lest it be forgot and go unmentioned, cute. I have a few more reasons if you feel a need to hear them, but those four are those most mentionable."

"Really now?" she asked as she unfolded her arms and leaned forward placing her chin in the palm of her hand. "I must say your the first guy to ever flirt with me, its a real shame your a vampire and I'm vampire slayer cause I really like you," she added and leaned back in the chair and laid her arms on the arms of the chair. She giggled and stood up then walked over to one of the books, "Oh well, I guess, thats life for ya." she said.

"Aye, that is indeed life, but there seem to be a few holes in your logic: you are a slayer by choice, I had no say in becoming a vampire, and also, by this time tomorrow, I can guarantee that you will no longer be a vampire slayer. It is indeed amazing what a little bit of perspective can do to ones preconceived notions."

"I guess you can say it was my choice, but I really have a vampire to thank for me becoming a slayer, it was after all one of your own who killed my mother and father. Course my mother and father hunted vampires that would hurt humans, my mother and father believed that not all vampires could be bad, they trusted a vampire and that vampire betrayed them........he killed them but he didn't kill me," she said there was breaking in her voice as she gripped onto the charm around her neck so hard that the palm of her hand started to bleed. She gasped when a drop of blood hit the floor and she let go of her necklace, then she opened her hand and looked at the palm of her hand. "I seeked training from more then just my grandma, but from other hunters. One man helped me alot, he was from the Aliteder clan his whole family is vampire hunters and slayers, I try to figure how my parents could believe some vampires to be good, but everytime I try I only remeber the vampire that killed them, I can clearly remeber what he said to me."

"I assure you that whatever he said can be disregarded, as from what you have described of him he is one who has embraced the dark side of vampirism, and indeed it has it's delights, but at the heart of it all the majority of those your parents killed were merely trying to survive, just the way that your parents were in slaying them. Thus the vicious loop of hatred is born, slayers hate vampires because vampires kill humans, vampires hate slayers because slayers kill vampires for no reason more than the vampires drive for survival, and they strike out with spite at slayers in retaliation, which only further infuriates the slayers, and the cycle spins on forevermore, each side firmly in the right. Again I will draw a parallel to nature: you consider a hunting lion a beautiful and majestic creature, but do you not think that the gazelle that it chases sees it as evil and cruel? In the end there is no such thing as right and wrong between vampire and slayer, there is only power, the power to survive, and the power to defeat those who would compete with you for what you need to continue that survival. It is an unfortunate and cruel truth, but it is truth nonetheless."
