Zephyr didn't stop by the nearby Starbucks on his way to work, he just drove past. He didn't have time to stop and wait, and even if he did, his wallet was depressingly empty. His Yamaha was his only comfort against that morning's string of irritations that had cropped up after finding out how late he was for being to work. Sure, he was the manager of Switch and his employees wouldn't give two shits if he was late, but if he was late that would make some of his more impressionable employees think it was okay to be late. That was one thing he couldn't afford at the moment, being so near to the fall holidays. Aside from that, lecturing people on being late after you yourself were late was hypocritical at best.

At the first stop light he'd gotten stuck behind five taxis, and a hummer that was pumping out more exhaust fumes than it was horsepower. At the second though, he ran into a bit of a problem. Well, it wasn't really a bit of a problem, it was a 'holy-s**t-I'm-gonna-die' problem, but still.. a problem. Approaching the second stoplight, the light had been red, so he'd slowed down, but since no one was waiting for the light it had switched. Unfortunately someone not paying attention to the lights had been half-way across when the light had switched green. The guy had been far enough on the opposite side of the road that the people waiting to go on the other side were waiting patiently for him to finish wandering. That was when he suddenly switched directions, walking back across the street. Unfortunately for him, and Zephyr, Zephyr had sped up when the light switched so when the guy changed directions, there was no way in hell he would be able to stop.

In the end, Zephyr maneuvered his bike close to the sidewalk, an attempt to miss the moron. It didn't exactly work. Zephyr hadn't been as close to the sidewalk as necessary to miss the guy and ended up clipping him with his bike. Which in turn - sadly - caused Zephyr's arm to turn the bike towards the waiting traffic. Fortunately seeing what was about to happen he turned the handles, but he turned them a bit too fast. Zephyr closed his eyes as his bike turned on it's side and started sliding, pain erupting on the entire right side of his body as it and the bike were ground against the asphalt. On-lookers screamed and a few curious/worried people got out of their cars to see what had happened. Zephyr opened his eyes, he eventually stopped a hundred feet away, and stayed where he was. He didn't move for fear of injuring himself further, the pain too much for him to really want to move anyway. Luckily his helmet had protected his head, though the rest of him and definitely his bike weren't so lucky. "Someone call an ambulance!" he heard someone scream, but he couldn't tell where it was coming from.

Closing his eyes again, Zephyr retracted himself into his mind, controlling his power to enforce a calm on whoever was closest to him. He didn't need people going into hysterics because he knew how much that didn't help an accident like this. His power flickered though, and he could tell that he was a bit too weak to be using it. Determined to stay awake, he cut off his ability, focusing on keeping his eyes open. His vision was a bit blurred and he could tell there was smoke coming from his bike, but he couldn't do anything about it. People rushed around him but he didn't pay them any mind. At least now I have a reason for being late.. he thought, wincing as he coughed because of the smoke. The coughing sent a jolt of pain through his right side, mainly his chest. He hoped nothing was broken and held onto the pain to keep himself awake.

[[ Just so I don't seem too cruel with this post, we can say that he somehow managed to miss the kitten with his bike. O.O ]]

Zach is allergic to cats and hates the foul creatures but he still has a heart. Being near one he would get itchy eyes then a runny nose and finally his asthma would start acting up. That wasn’t the worse, bee stings would send him into shock and his throat would close up, ultimately dying by suffocation. Not something he would want to endure or even wish on his worst enemy. Luckily for him the process of death took an hour. But cats were much much longer. He could tolerate them for awhile before his breathing would be messed up, like two or three days.

Zach bent down to pick up the kitten; it was then that he saw it. The loud roar of the engine would of startled anyone but not Zach. He quickly grabbed the kitten in his arms and covered it with them, just in case, so it wouldn’t be hurt. He felt the handlebar hit into him like a punch to the gut. He could feel a sudden rush of air leave his body and the wind was knocked out of him. He fell back and looked at the kitten, which was running in some direction, he was to focused on breathing to tell.

He rolled over to look at the man with the motorcycle; he was obviously hurt more than Zach was. Zach closed his eyes and focused even more on breathing. First they were shallow then they increased in depth. He opened his eyes and his face was still in the direction of his attacker. He turned over to look up but didn’t see the clouds and blue skies but faces staring down at him. He sat up and tried to stand but fell back down. A hand was out for him to take and he took it and stood up with help. He turned to face his attacker again and walked towards him.

“Someone call an ambulance…” He screamed as he approached Zeph. People were by him but they kept their distance. He walked into the circle of people and stood next to Zeph. He didn’t know what to say but looked around. He saw some girl calling an ambulance, and he looked back at Zeph. “Hello? Can you hear me?” he asked the man. “I need you to stay awake...” Onlookers quietly narrated what was currently going on and some even with random questions. ‘Isn’t that the kid that he hit?’, ‘Do you think he’ll take his wallet?’, ‘Are they okay?’.

Zach was getting more and more upset with everyone and just needed some space. A beer can on the street shook silently and he looked at it. He was all too familiar with how this worked. The beer can than glowed a bright white color. Zach looked at Zeph and closed his eyes, trying to make it stop. He knew someone would see and call him a ‘mutant’ or something to he tried not to look at it. He saw a black folded wallet on the ground and grabbed it. Opening it he read Zephyr’s name.

Zach didn’t try to pronounce it; he just stuck it into one of Zeph’s jacket pocket and looked at the beer can which had already stopped glowing. He tried to smile but it then realized how much his rib hurt but didn’t notice that his head was bleeding from where he hit it on the ground. As he looked at Zeph as slowly his wound started to heal on his head. Zach waited for Zeph to speak to him.

Zephyr looked up at the guy who'd managed to get to him through the crowd that had seemed to gather. He looked oddly familiar and after taking a proper look he saw why, he was the guy he'd hit. "Sorry for hitting you," Zephyr said with his Scottish accent seeping through fairly thick, and glanced around at the crowd. They seemed to be mostly content with creating their own story so he ignored them. Looking at the guy he lifted his head when he messed with something on his clothes before looking back. Had Zephyr been in a more conscious and clear thinking state he would have probably noticed the guy's wounds healing, but he wasn't, so he didn't notice at all. Most of it was covered by blood anyway. "I'll try," Zephyr muttered, finally getting around to answering the question he'd sluggishly remembered the guy had asked.

"Is it bad?" Zephyr asked, closing his eyes, his accent probably preventing his speech from being even semi-understandable. He didn't want to see it, he didn't want to look down and see what the accident looked like.. what he looked like. He grunted out a laugh, wincing afterward, when his cell phone started ringing from his pocket. He was surprised, though not too much, that it had survived the accident. It was one of those Razor phones that seemed indestructible, even if you threw it against a wall as hard as you could - which he'd done once or twice before - and he usually left it at home. Must have left it in the pocket.. Wonder who it is... probably Jessica, she's always the first to assume something terrible like a murder.. usually the one to call.. Zephyr thought before forcing his eyes open. He couldn't fall asleep, he needed to stay awake. That's what you were supposed to do in case of a concussion right? Though if you remember your name and the date it's sure that you don't have one. He watched enough medical dramas like House to have learned that much.

"Zephyr Gordon," he whispered to himself, forgetting as he stared up at the sky and the sun, "August... god.. August.. ninth, I think..." He finished before sighing. It was close enough to make him confident that he didn't have a concussion. Zephyr coughed as a whiff of smoke choked his lungs for a moment. "The smoke.." Zephyr muttered, and looked over at the guy he'd hit. He forced his eyes to focus and look at him, and when they finally did he closed his eyes against him. He's just a damned kid, he thought, mentally cursing himself. Just a ******** kid and I hit him. "Here comes the ambulance!" He heard someone from far away say and he strained his ears and sure enough over the sounds of people talking there was the somewhat distant sound of an ambulance siren.

Zach first heard the man speak when he mentioned he was sorry for hitting him, Zach shrugged and looked at the ground.
“No big deal…I'm Zach..” he told Zephyr. He looked at the motorcycle and saw it was pretty banged up.
“Sorry about your bike…” He looked at Zephyr this time. Here had to keep a conversation with Zephyr so he wouldn’t pass out. The ambulance was loud with its sirens. It stopped a few feet from where the crash happened.

Zach didn’t want to give out his name and everything and strangely he felt fine. No big deal. The emergency help pushed their way through the crowd and saw Zach and Zephyr.
“Are you alright?”
“Fine…” Zach said, he didn’t have insurance and refused to use his real name because he was a run away and wasn’t eighteen til next week.
“Wasn’t there two people?” another officer said. Some people looked around and others pointed to Zach who looked away. “Are you hurt son? Your bleeding..” The officer said and knelt down. Zach remembered the forehead injury; he couldn’t even feel it anymore. He wiped the blood but there was no injury.
“It’s not my blood…” Zach lied. Two paramedics walked over and pulled out a stretcher. Zach had to pick the perfect time to leave. He looked down at Zephyr who had his eyes closed and Zach looked back up at the police. The officer nodded at Zach to come with him while the medics took care of Zephyr. Once Zach got over by the officer, he threw questions at him.
“How do you know him?” The police asked Zach.

“He was giving me a ride and we hit some girl…but she ran…” he lied.

“You don’t have a scratch on you. How does that happen?” The officer asked.

“I don’t know but my brother is over there dying and your asking ridiculous questions..” Zach said with his voice a little higher.
“I’ll write my statement at the hospital and give it to you.” He stated and walked back over to Zephyr.

He felt so bad for him and wished he could do more to help but he couldn’t. Zach could see his reflection on the letters of the ambulance and he looked at his forehead to find his injury was gone. He took a step back and felt his forehead searching for it but didn’t see anything. One of the medics bumped him and he looked around before he got lost in his thoughts.
“Are you his brother?” they asked Zach. Zach looked at them, he knew he should leave but he felt bad for Zephyr and was drawn to him like some unforeseen rope connecting them. He nodded and they helped him in the ambulance.

Jen greeted the cafe owner with a fake, plastic smile. "Good morning," she said a bit to cheerfully. When she went into the back of the store, she cursed herself for being so fake. She slipped into a single room that she used as a place to dump all of her belongings at the cafe. Glancing out into the hallway, and seeing that no one was there, she closed the door and locked it behind her. Setting her guitar against the wall, she took her purse of from her shoulder. It was one of those bigger types, that were a bit floppy. You could hide anything in it... Like a gun, for instance. She peered inside and took out the gun to check if it was loaded. Good, she thought and stuffed it in the very bottom of her purse. Her purse landed in a small corner in the room when she flung it away. After that, she went to her guitar and unzipped the case to pull out a Yamaha acousitc guitar. The pick fell out of its holder when she did so. In the nick of time, she caught it with her mind. It floated up to her and landed in her outstretched palm.

She tuned the guitar carefully, taking her sweet time until the cafe owner knocked on the door and ordered her to hurry up. Rolling her eyes and sighing in annoyance, she responded, "One minute!" Jen warmed up her fingers and then stepped out of the door.

There was a small stage-like area in one of the corners of the cafe. A stool was already set up for her. The microphone was set to its correct volume and waiting for someone to speak into it. Jen took her place on the stage and strummed away, but in the back of her head, there was something big that was nagging at her.

Zephyr became swept up in a wave of confusion once the ambulance arrived. He could tell that the police were pushing people back, and Zach - he couldn't quite remember if that was what the kid had said his name was or not - was still by his side. Why Zach was still sticking around him after he'd hit him, Zephyr didn't have a clue, but he was glad that he had someone with him - even a stranger was better than laying on hot asphalt waiting for death or an uncomfortable hospital bed by yourself. Zephyr kept his eyes open, most of the time, and was able to see the grim expression of the police when they lifted the bike off of his leg. He could tell that the bike was totaled, though he wasn't too worried about that. It was fully insured, and this would give him the chance to get another bike that wasn't in that ugly red color.

"Someone get my phone.. please," Zephyr said as two paramedics swarmed him like flies on a corpse. One of the paramedics gave the other a nod and the one who had Zephyr's phone answered it as the others focused on shoving an IV into his arm and looking at the extent of the damage. "She says her name is Jessica, is there anything I should tell her?" the paramedic asked. "What happened.. tell her, where I'm going.." Zephyr told the paramedic and screamed furiously when the other's examining became painful. The paramedics eventually got him onto a stretcher and loaded him into the back of the ambulance. At this point they'd drugged him up with a healthy dose of morphine and he was high as a kite.

Zephyr, drugged as he was, was having even more trouble keeping his eyes open and wasn't aware that Zach was in the ambulance with him. The morphine made him numb, and he couldn't tell what the paramedics were doing to him anymore, just that they were rushing and giving each other orders that he couldn't understand. "What.." he began as he tried to sit up but the paramedic closest to his shoulders pushed him back onto the stretcher. "Please don't do that, you could injure yourself further. Now, can you tell me your name? The date maybe?" Zephyr answered their questions, and he could tell they were trying to keep him awake but he just felt so damned tired. He eventually gave up trying to speak with them, closing his eyes and giving into the darkness behind his eyelids.

Zach sat patiently waiting in the ambulance while they took care of Zephyr down on the ground. It took two people to get the bike off which was weird because it didn’t look that heavy. Zach pulled his phone out and looked at it, five texts. He put it back in his pocket, he didn’t bother texting back. Zach couldn’t speak he just kept looking around at the scene. Why was his head bleeding one second and then the next it was fine. He got a strange feeling of déjà vu and saw some girl he didn’t recognize. It was hard for him to remember his friends in Texas. Things didn’t make sense.

Like one memory he remembers going to a party with a bunch of friends on a Saturday night. Maybe it was prom, he wasn’t so sure but he went to someone’s window and that’s all he remembers. It was like every time he thought about this house and there was a girl who lived there but his memories would sort of skip around it. He cursed under his breath that he stayed in the ambulance. He should have left and he knew it. Besides this guy hit him and Zach didn’t owe him anything right?

As much as he wanted to leave the guy alone and just continue his life he couldn’t. It was because he was attractive, which he was but it was something else. Maybe they knew each other or he was a professor, something Zach couldn’t place but he was intrigued by him. Zephyr was now in the ambulance and had just rolled his eyes back to get some sleep. Zach looked at the ambulance guys and they just smiled and nodded.

“He has no concussion, he can sleep…” One said. Zach nodded back and looked at Zephyr. He wished Zephyr would have stayed awake so that the light wouldn’t of been on him. Zach sat back and folded his arms, pulling out his cell phone again. He checked his texts; they were all from Alex, his roommate.
<Are we still going to Swtich tonight?& Alex had texted him.

<Yeah. Something crazy happened today… I didn’t even record it.. sad gtg. Txt u later. > Zach pressed send and put his phone back into his pocket. He wanted to grab his Flip digital camcorder but he knew the ambulance guys wouldn’t let him. As much as he wanted to ask ‘Are we there yet?’ He didn’t because he didn’t want to sound like a child.

About ten minutes later they had arrived at the emergency room and nurses rushed out to assist the paramedics in getting Zephyr out of the ambulance and into the hospital. One of the nurses approached Zach, "You'll have to stay in the waiting room, we have some papers that you'll need to fill out," she said, not even asking him if he and Zephyr were related. "He's in good hands, trust me," she said and glanced over at Zephyr before giving Zach a sympathetic smile and following the gaggle of nurses as the paramedics pushed him through the doors of the hospital, a plethora of medical terms falling from their lips as they updated the nurses and the one doctor who finally decided to show up. "Here's his phone, you might want to call that Jessica girl back, I think she might have a heart attack if you don't," the driver of the ambulance said, handing Zach Zephyr's cell phone.

Meanwhile, Zephyr was in and out of consciousness. I guess this is what dying is like.. he asked himself as his conscious mind caught blurred glimpses of the fluorescent hospital lights as they rushed him into the hospital. The buzz of people talking around him sounded like the warped soundtrack to a horror movie and the morphine running through his system made everything that much more dull to his mind. I wonder if I should be praying.. he thought and then mentally laughed at that, his inebriated body allowing him a faint smile. Yea, like there's a God who'd help me now.. he added with a snort of sarcastic laughter.

Zach walked slowly with the stretcher looking around the hospital; people always talked about how much they hated hospitals but they’ve never bothered Zach. He wasn’t here much. A nurse kindly walked over to him and he stopped in his tracks ready to run if she asked for ID or anything like that. He leaned over and watched as Zephyr got further and further away. He made eye contact with the nurse again and saw she was handing him a clip board. He hadn’t heard a word she said but just stared down at it.

He took it in his hands and walked to a random seat and away from the other people waiting, he didn’t want to be near anyone right now; he had to sort out his thoughts. He looked down at the clipboard. Name: it asked him. “Zephyr Gordon” He narrated as he wrote and was pretty sure it was right. He got to the address and phone number and everything and didn’t know whether to make it up or not. The nurse walked back over just in time and leaned over Zach’s shoulder to see how far he’d gotten.

“I’m too upset to fill this out…” he said and handed it back to her giving a quick smile then looked away. She looked confused but just smiled back at him. He wiped the sweat from his brow and could feel his heart start to slow down. He wanted to stand but he sat right back down. Okay, well I’ll just check on him then leave.. he told himself still nervous that he might get found out.

The room was silent, dark and warm, the perfect place for a good nights sleep. Evan was enjoying his time to sleep in on his black checkered sheets, face down in his pillow. Last night was a night of drinking and partying, since it was the one night a week he had off work. Everything was still and peaceful until Evan's phone started blaring 'Animal I Have Become', his newest ringer. A groan slipped past his lips as he was awoken from his deep, comfortable slumber. Pulling himself out of the pillow, he gropped around on the desk, searching for his beat up slider phone. Once his fingers found the cool, plastic screen, he slide it open and placed it on his ear. "Talk," he breathed, voice strangled from sleep. It was Jessica, who seemed very upset and talking at the speed of light. "Alright, alright, slow down. What happened to Zephyr?" he said, starting to wake up some, rubbing at his face.

The girl in his ear took a deep breath before trying to explain things again, only slower. Evan listened with some interest of what was going on with his boss. "Alright, I'll head down there as soon as I can. Just relax. He'll be fine," he told her, hoping to comfort the girl. Even without his powers, he could feel the raw emotion in her voice. Saying his goodbye, he closed the phone, hanging up on her. Groaning again, he fell face first back into the pillow. It was going to be a long afternoon. Sighing, he rolled out of bed, stretching out his arms above his head. His jonts popped slightly as he padded over to his dresser, only in his boxers. Pulling out a tight, white tank-top and a pair of fadded blue jeans, he dressed rather quickly, deciding not to shower. He worked around 4:30 so he could come home and shower after he went to see his boss.

Slipping on some white socks, he ran a hand through his hair to try to straighten it out some. It was a mess. Wandering into the kitchen, he opened the fridge, looking for something to eat before he ran. A half eaten pizza caught his eye, and he snatched up a piece, eating it cold from the fridge as he looked around for his black vans. They had to be somewhere in his messy apartment. After a few mintues of looking, he found them under his bed, shoving his feet into them. Tossing the crust, he washed down his lunch with a swig of milk straight from the container. It wasn't much, but something to help settle his stomach until he could get home and get ready for work. Returning to his room, he searched through the piles of clothing until he found his wrist gauntlets. He pulled them over his hands, slipping his knives into the small compartments. Securing the velcro, he shoved his phone, I-Pod and wallet into his jeans, snatching up his keys.

He was out the door a moment after, locking the door carefully and rushing down the stairs. The fast he got to the boss, the faster he could get home. His bike was waiting for him in the allyway. Waisting no time with a helmet, he quickly mounted the bike, starting it to life. It purred as he pulled out of the ally, into the streets of New York. It was a normal, packed afternoon in the city. Evan made it to the hopsital in about 15 mintues, which was pretty good time for several blocks away from his apartment. He found a front parking spot like he normally would because of his small motorcycle. Just another reason to love it. Placing it on the kickstand, he pulled out the key, stuffing it into his jeans pocket. Padding straight up to the front desk, he told the office work the boss's name. She asked him how he knew Zephyr. Easily lieing through his teeth, he replied, "He's my brother. Our sister called me and told me the awful news about our brother." The lady handed him a slip with Zeph's name and room number. Thanking her, he headed for the elevator.

Evan never really liked hopsitals. Always so clean, white and serious. It smelled weird, too, like medication and sterial gloves. Gross. Padding down the hallway, he found the boss's room, but it was closed and locked. Must be doing some work on him, he thought, finding a waiting area. A kid was in there already with some blood on him. Finding a seat across from him, he stared at him for a moment, reading into his heart. His eyes turned a pale white, almost like they had a covering on them. Blinking once he got what he wanted, he leaned back. "You're speical," he muttered, a smirk of amusment on his face as he watched the kid.

Zephyr was awake on the hospital bed, the small dose of morphine they'd given him having worn off. They'd offered to allow him another dose, but he'd refused. It had been nice to be free of pain, but he could easily just feed off of the emotions of the surprisingly calm doctor that was taking care of his leg. The pain was terrible, and he was having issues keeping his eyes open despite not being inebriated from morphine anymore, but it was bearable if he kept calm. "His brothers are out in the waiting room, if you think it would help we could allow one of them in." a nurse said, peeking her head in, but she wasn't looking at Zephyr when she spoke, she was looking at the doctor.

"My brother?" Zephyr asked, having only caught that one word, and only part of it at that. Ignoring the hands that tried to press him back onto the bed. "Where is he?" Zephyr asked, the calm he'd been feeding off from the doctor dissipating into his own anticipation at seeing his brother. His mind, being muddled from the accident, didn't allow him to ask himself why his brother would suddenly show up at the hospital he was in, and especially not how his brother would even know about the accident or what hospital he was in. He hadn't seen his brother since they had put their mother in that home, and that had been.. gods, going on six years now.

"Let one in, please Mr. Gordon, I can't help you if you keep moving around like that," the doctor said turning back to Zephyr's leg. Startled at being called Mr. Gordon, he'd never been called that even by his employees, Zephyr gave a nod before laying back on the bed. He was slightly in shock at his brother being there, and he didn't even give a second thought to it. The shock turned into a bit of excitement, and also a slight lack of control as his ability bled out and started effecting the doctor and the few nurses working on him. The stupid smile he had on his face was on theirs as well and when he noticed it he forced himself to calm a little and draw in his power.

Zach stared at the papers and only had ‘Zephyr Gordon’ on it so far. The nurse walked over again and asked if he was done. She looked at the papers and gave a questioning look. “Are you alright?” She asked, as he wiped some sweat from his brow.
“Yes. Were in the process of moving so I’m trying to decide whether or not to put the new address, plus text our mom and have her calm down. It’s just so much to handle..” He lied convincingly. Being a run away, you had to learn to lie on the spot. She nodded and provided some sweet comforting words then walked away. He could feel the butterflies arise in his stomach more and some pain where Zephyr had hit him, but he ignored it.

A man talked to the nurse about Zephyr’s condition and he got more nervous. As the man took his seat across from Zach he tried not to look at him. It was weird but he felt drawn to this guy to. His heart beat even more when he saw the man staring at him too. What if this was really Zephyr’s real brother? What were the chances that he was faking too. He looked back down at the papers and pretended to write something. That’s when the man spoke to him.

‘Your special...’ he said. Zach looked up as the words lingered in his mind. He looked up at him. “What are you talking about?” He asked in a mean way, more mean than he meant to come across as. He stared at this guy as the nurse walked over to him. “Sir, it’s time for you to see your brother. Sorry about only one at a time.” She said and looked at Evan. Zach stood up and looked at Evan as he walked away. What was that about? Zach questioned himself. ‘Your special...’ it lingered again in his mind.

As Zach walked past the doctors outside the room he kept his head down and trying to avoid them when one grabbed him. A tingle went down his spine and the butterflies turned into two different swarms. He looked Zach in the eye. “He’ll be alright son. Don’t you worry...” He told Zach and let go. Zach flashed a fake smile and backed up hitting the door behind him. By the time he walked into the room his emotions were completely disturbed. He felt a huge wave of fear, pain from his stomach, confusion and butterflies. He walked into the room and looked at Zephyr and walked over to him.

“I’m Zach. You kind of hit me…I don’t know why I stayed.” He said finally looking up and met Zephyr’s eyes. “I actually don’t know why I’m still here…” he said as he turned to leave. “I just wanted to make sure you were okay…” He said but as he walked to the door he could feel something moving around in his stomach. He pulled his wallet out but his butterflies were intensified. He leaned on the wall facing Zephyr and started breathing hard trying to keep his voice down but he wanted to scream. He lifted his shirt up and had a huge bruise on his left abdomen.

His bruise was getting smaller and smaller and one of his ribs was shifting around inside his stomach. He slid down the wall in pain and biting his hand to keep himself from screaming. The IV in the room suddenly exploded and the plastic pieces that fell to the ground were lit with fire, soon the pain stopped and his stomach looked the same it always had. He dropped his shirt and looked around at the flaming pieces that lied around in the room. He looked wide eyed at Zephyr as his wallet fell out of his hands and onto the floor still he just took off running out of the room, he stopped looking at Evan and remembered what he said, he only stopped for a second to look then ran out of the hospital. He could only think one thing ‘Your Special...’

"All right, I've patched your leg up as best as I can," the doctor said only a few moments after the nurse had left to go get his brother. "You'll need a cast and I'll be taking a look at your ribs after you're done speaking with your brother, but you should be fine. You're lucky, crash like that. If you hadn't been wearing a helmet, you might not be here," the doctor said seriously and Zephyr nodded, watching as the doctor walked out, bumping into another doctor who he then began talking to. Zephyr lay back on the bed and closed his eyes, resting as much as he could. His leg felt like someone was sitting on it while wearing pants made out of pieces of broken glass, his arm had been wrapped, and his suit was definitely ruined. Zephyr tried to clear his mind of all the unimportant crap, figuring that his brother was more important.

"I'm Zach. You kind of hit me...I don't know why I stayed," Zephyr heard, and he opened his eyes to look over and see the guy from before. He frowned, slightly confused, but then realized that the guy must have lied to get in. It was sweet, but then again it could also be deadly. Zephyr kept his attention clear on Zach's words, and the emotions behind them. "I actually don't know why I'm still here..." he said and Zephyr could feel his swirling emotions, the most prominent being fear. "I just wanted to make sure you were okay..." Zephyr heard him say before his emotions turned into that of pain. Zephyr realized he might be hurt from the accident and sat up to see if he was okay, but the pain from his chest caused him to grimace and lay back down a little.

Zach looked like he was in trouble and was clearly not okay and Zephyr was about to call for one of the doctors when out of nowhere his IV exploded. Zephyr cringed away from it, gritting his teeth against the pain of moving so quickly, and so much. When he finally dared to look, Zach was looking at him with a terrified expression on his face. "Wait, Zach!" Zephyr called and then grunted, gritting his teeth against the stabbing pain in his chest and laying back completely onto the bed. His doctor came back in, hearing him call and confused as to why Zach had ran and looked at Zephyr's vitals and the incinerated IV.

"What the hell happened in here?" the doctor asked, but Zephyr couldn't answer, so he simply ignored the doctor's question. "I need to go, can you just get a cast on me or something?" Zephyr asked, and focused his power on the doctor, making him feel compliant and helpful. The doctor blinked a few times before nodding. "Yes Mr. Gordon, I'll be right back with your things and I'll send a nurse in in a few minutes to take care of your bandages and instruct you on changing them, you still have another visitor," the doctor said before backing out of the room, looking a bit dazed. Zephyr closed his eyes, fighting the creeping headache that was settling on him and wondered who else would be there to see him.

Curiosity struck Evan as he watched the boy. Was he actually related to Zeph? He was doing some paperwork, but... His question broke through his thoughts, causing him to blink. Opening his mouth to answer, one of the blonde nurses came over, saying that one person could go see him. His brother?! That was just... strange. Perhaps he lied through his teeth, like Evan. Smirking in humor, he watched the kid leave with one of the nurses, going into Zeph's room. The loud commotion was enough for Evan to stand up, creeping over to the door only to find the kid running out of the room. Cocking his head in question at him as he ran out, he blinked once. What was his problem?

Shrugging, he stepped into Zeph's room, smiling at him. "How you holdin' up, Boss? Jessica called me and told me to come check on you for the rest of the crew," he said once the doctor was out of the room. Padding over to the swivel chair, he pushed it up to the side of his bed, and sat on it, backwards of course. Folding his arms on the back of the chair, he rested his chin on his arms and let his eyes roam over Zeph. "You did this with your bike?" he asked in shock. It was one thing to have an accident, but to rip open your leg and tear up half of your body? It was almost uncalled for. While he waited for his answer, he reatched out into the other's heart, smirking faintly as the event took a place on his timeline.

"Ev," Zephyr said with a small smirk as his employee walked into the room. He was a fairly nice guy, and a good guy to have around if you got in a fight and needed an extra pair of fists. He was also surprisingly adept at helping out some of their more un-happy customers, which was a bonus for Zephyr. Anyone who could cheer someone up without having some secret power was a good person in his mind. He gave a small laugh, holding his breath at the pain that came along with it before responding. "She's gonna have a field day with this.. always going on about how something bad's gonna happen, and this time she's right," Zephyr said and shook his head, looking over at Evan.

He watched Evan sit down, and mentally cursed himself for the thought that crossed his mind about a little something he'd like to do to Evan. He was almost glad that he seemed to be the only one at his work that had a power, then again.. if his employees kept their secrets as well as he did.. well... Zephyr brushed those thoughts away and gave Evan a one shoulder shrug. "I'd describe the wreck to you in detail but I don't think I'd have time," Zephyr said and glanced at the door as the doctor came back in, a nurse trailing behind. "Here are your things Mr. Morgan, your cell phone's been ringing almost non-stop." He said, sounding slightly annoyed. Zephyr looked the doctor dead in the eyes and gave him the emotion of happiness. The doctor blinked a few times and then grinned happily, turning to the nurse. "Make sure you tell him everything he needs to know," he said and then took up a cheery whistle as he walked out of the room.

The nurse watched him walk out and shook her head. "I swear that man's got more mood swings than I do," she muttered and then turned to Zephyr, blushing. "Sorry," she said and Zephyr shook his head. "It's all right, do you mind giving me and my uh.. brother a few more minutes?" he asked and she glanced at Evan before nodding. "Sure thing," she said and gave him a smile before setting some bandages and a prescription bottle of something at the foot of his bed on her way out. Zephyr let out a slow sigh and turned to Evan. "Please tell me you're here to get me out of here?" he asked.
