"What? Is she doing something wrong?" asked he once hearing her comment. "Am I doing something wrong?" though the doubt and sarcasm was audible in his voice no matter how he tried to hide it. He looked over to her squiggles and saw the rose, nodding. "What kind of flower is that?" he asked, not knowing what it in fact was exactly.

Jess looked up at him and blushed.
"No, no... you're not doing anything wrong. It's just a rose... i just think it's weird how it showed up from a bunch of squiggles..." she said with a small smile.

Edgar nodded, and sat down beside her. He looked up at the dimming sun, judging they'd need to leave soon. Time sure did pass, and all Edgar could conquer about the saying in his case was that he needed to spend more time with Jess. Somehow. Something just told him, nearly randomly, that more time was needed to be spent with Jess.
"We should be heading back soon," he judged, looking back at Jess who was blushing at him. He found himself blushing back, and looked at Lolly who was resting and looking at the two sleepily.
"Lolly?"
"Hmm?"
"It's getting dark," said Edgar. "Maybe you should go get something from the forest out back for supper before we head back to the circus. 'Kay?"
Lolly looked at him sideways. She was a fit lioness––very fit, in fact––but just a bit thin. Her appetite was high, but she was a picky eater, and needed her food fresh, which in the past few weeks hasn't been available to her. She got up and bounded away, looking for something meaty, and fresh.
Edgar put his hands behind his head and leaned back. It surprised him how nice it could be alone with Jess. It was a first to him.
