"Halt, Irimas"
Darren pulled against the reigns of his horse, receiving a short snort in response. Patting the dark beast's neck, Darren dismounted and led the horse by hand. He tightened his hand around the reigns, gently pulling as he began to walk onto a cobble path. His expensive boots clacked with each step against the smooth stones, announcing his presence in Redmount.
"So this town is a part of the kingdom...?", he mused to himself, leaning forward to get a clear view of the town's main square. It was early morning, but the streets were already filled with all sorts of people. Pushing back his dark hair, Darren shaded his eyes as he peered up toward grand castle overlooking the town. It looked a little imposing, albeit magnificent and awe-inspiring. It would be his future home by the next day, and he was looking forward to it.
"Sir, you seem well traveled. Perhaps you'd like to buy something to drink?", a voice interrupted, throwing off Darren's thoughts. A scowl masked his elegant features as Darren turned to the young boy offering his wares to him. The innocent smile the boy wore on his face still lingered, as if he was unaware that he had caused anything. He may not think he did, but Darren did.
"Get away from me, you little freak!", Darren snarled, swinging the back of his free hand out against the boy's face. His small frame fell away from Darren, back against the hard stones on the ground. Looked up toward his attacker, his eyes welling up with tears, before tearing away back to the safety of his stall. Sighing, Darren closed his hand into a fist and shoved it deep into his pocket. Hopefully, he wouldn't have to do anything like that again.
