Died? That implies it ever existed and wasn't some silly thread Vizzle made to assume credit for a concept which Gaia Commerce had been running by since before he ever started roleplaying there.

No, it was a vanity project. And a fruitless one, as it created nothing. That's why I say it doesn't exist. It was never active, he never really did anything with it to make it something more than exactly what already existed before he put his name on it. But I suppose that's what you have to come to expect from that crowd. A lot of posturing with a very little actual effect.

I never really looked into it all that much past the front page. I usually used it for links, since I seem to be deaf towards what the hell's going on in Gaia-- nobody tells me anything. }:< It seemed to be like another OOC thread for "the community", which is basically what I saw the Character Creation thread as, too.

I didn't see it as anybody really taking credit for what everyone does as a whole. That would imply responsibility for it-- and if that were so, somebody would be in a helluva lot of trouble.

Sometimes either of them was an occasionally helpful guide, but most of the time it just seemed to be everyone hanging out again. Because we all know that we're all posting in, like, four different OOC threads at the same time.

I never really liked posting my profile for public opinion, though. I usually have direct sources I take it to that already know what my characters are like.

Re-read the front page. You'll note two things:

1) it was never really ever updated. It was created, then left to rot as an OOC thread, of which there were already multiple.

2) You're right, he never overtly claims how amazing he is for doing it. Well of course, people don't actually go "I'm so cool because I made X" but you'll see that he invoked Opaj, Levi's version of Jesus, and how he intended to unite all the threads which, as anyone back then could have told you, were all already united because they were all run by a circle of friends who already recognized and accepted each other's characters and used mutual events in a collective backstory...etc. Why claim to do something that's already being done? Prestige. I know most of these guys play the humility thing, but that's also part of the posturing, part of the persona that keeps them, I dunno, what they consider is popular. You can tell it's not legitimate because, you know, they never actually end up doing anything.

As a matter of fact the only real mission statement of any value he made was the one he never fulfilled: to create more events.

But no doubt it was a useful list of links. So is my thread subscription list, though.

Rou needs a new firebending teacher. Now she's got to learn how to use it without the chains as firestarters. I'll give Cade a little while to respond, though, unless someone else wants to make it a three-way conversation by the stream.

Cade's character seems in an antsy mood. And mine's... not. It's odd for Rou to have zen. It'll just end up making her bored, soon.


@Van: Well, I honestly can't be one to say if they've fulfilled their mission statement. Most of the events they do have are incredibly catered to their main circle of characters, but I don't know how many they've put on. Kinda hard to find an in when things are already crowded.


I'm hoping that I can eventually work up the story and balls to turn Circe into the instigator of a sides war. But that won't be for awhile.
