Λ
lwin Kayetan Leandor paced gracefully up and down the hall to his tower. He wasn’t one to panic much, but he was cautious enough to be knowledgeable that someone important was approaching his home. He continued thinking and wondering to himself about the events of the day, and how they would turn out. Out of character for his nonchalant persona, his mind racked the possibilities of his actions.

Alwin gazed briefly at his ladies and men in waiting. They could sense he was anxious, and he regretted that. He hadn’t wanted them to notice he was freaking out, so in order to calm himself and his fellows, he went to his room, and sat down on his window ledge. One leg was propped against the edge furthest from himself, whereas his back on the other. His leg limply fell beside him, as he gazed out the window, trying to calm himself. It was working so far, and hopefully that would continue.

Vyse had always told him to be prepared for this day, but still the jitters crawled all over. Vyse, being the wiser and older knew exactly how to act, and what his bride-to-be would look like. Alwin on the other hand was still flabbergasted at the idea of getting married. He wasn’t totally opposed to the idea, for he knew that was the kingdom’s main concern at the this point; it was the thought of being close to someone for the rest of his life that he had never meet before that worried him the most. Kay wasn’t concerned if she was beautiful or homely, he wasn’t shallow as such. If anything he would treat her like the proper young lady that she was. He always believed that mistreating a woman was the more terrible thing an individual could do.

He sighed at the ramble in his head, and he quickly retrieved his paint set. It calmed him the most and he loved to explore the vast worlds he created on canvas and paper. His favorite style however was to draw out a simple scene, and then color in with water color pencils. He supposed it was similar to painting with watercolors, be he didn’t care enough to classify the two.

Just as Alwin was returning to his spot by the window, a whisp of white caught his eye. He glanced down and his heart sunk. A young maiden in a green gown was approaching the main entrance. Alwin’s heart struck a string, and he was lost for a moment.

Hurriedly and out of impulsive he made it past his servants room, down the tower steps, and out his secret door, unnoticed.

•·.·´¯`·.·• Melody of Hemelia •·.·´¯`·.·•
A Princess, I suppose...

"Life is not about waiting out the storm. It's about learning to dance in the rain." - Unknown

Prudence huffed and swallowed, her brow beaded with a cold sweat. Melody could tell the woman was still reeling over the princess's radical actions thus far. Arriving in such a state? her critical eyes passed over Melody again- Her hair was in shambles, her dress would have to be immediately given to the poor when they returned home, and she had a repulsive air of free-thinking about her.

Melody swallowed down a smirk at her lady in waiting's visible apprehension towards her appearances. But then the huge doors before them began to swing inward, and she couldn't help but feel a trickle of dread herself. But she was an expert at hiding one's feelings - She inclined her head respectfully to the butlers on either side of them and walked inside, her shoes clicking loudly on the marble floor. Too loudly, in her taste. Another reason she detested high heels. She gazed at the entrance hall around them and tried to keep her eyes from widening with sudden nervousness. There was a frightening sense of finality to actually being here, in the home of her betrothed. She had a sudden vision of herself living in these big, unfamiliar rooms, and her heart almost did a somersault. Her sisters were lucky - They got to meet their princes in their own element.

She was dragged out of her reverie by Prudence jabbing her arm with her bony elbow, and she rose her eyebrows in surprise, looking down at the older woman. Prudence had her lips pursed, glaring at Melody with a stern gaze. Ah. She's trying to subdue me already. The idea almost made her giggle. A butler approached them, bowing low to those above him. Melody smiled slightly at him, although the expression didn't fully reach her eyes- She was timid around strangers. "Milady. His highness will be down shortly, I shouldn't wonder." She opened her mouth to thank him, but Prudence cut in instead, her voice irritable. "Do you simply expect us to wait out here, then? Milady cannot be on her feet too long, she's not used to being treated in such a way. In fact, where is the prince now? He should have been here..." Melody shot Prudence a cold glance, and once the woman was done with her rant the princess turned to face the butler once more. "Please excuse my dear Prudence... She's tired from the journey. If you could kindly direct her somewhere she can sit, I'm sure it would be most appreciated." She smiled more warmly to the butler before them, her expression tinted with self-conscious worry. She hoped desperately the man wouldn't hold Prudence's insulting behavior against her. The butler simply nodded and took Prudence's arm, guiding her into another room.

As the door thudded shut behind them gently, Melody realized with a jolt she had sent away everyone in the huge room. Her eyes widened and she looked around for a moment, seeing no one. Knowing she was out of sight, she let out a small sigh of relief, letting her shoulders fall back into a normal, relaxed position. She hated being under judging gazes. She slowly turned, looking around her at the cavern of a room she was in. She could hear every move she made with terrifying detail. Why was it so quiet? Twiddling her thumbs nervously, she bit her bottom lip, not quite sure what to do with herself. She could feel her heart rate getting faster with nervousness and tried to calm herself down. She sang under her breath, "...When you taught me how to dance, years ago, with misty eyes... Every step and silent glance, every move a sweet surprise... Someone must have taught you well, to beguile and to entrance... For that night you cast your spell, and you taught me how to dance..." The simple melody calmed her down a little, but she still carried the air of a frightened rabbit. Abso-bloody-lutely perfect.

Kaiko stopped her tears once the prince approached her with the handkerchief, clearing her face of all the little drops of salty water. This was an act only a true prince would take. She watched him with her distressed optics as he gave her a smile. There was something unusual about his smile. She just couldn't place what it was that made it so different, especially after he completed his next phrase.

“I do apologize for entering into your room. I will leave”

Such a warm gesture, but then topped with something like that? She didn't want him to leave, did she? She glanced towards her closet that was filled with better clothing than the ruined cloth she had on and then thought about her duties as a princess. Kaiko chewed on her bottom lip before deciding to stand up. She didn't want him to walk away.

Kaiko pushed past her door, "Hey! I'm Prin---" She stopped mid-sentence when she saw that one of her guards was confronting Prince Adrian. The guard was just about to grab the prince's arm, most likely to drag him out of the estate, or to take him directly to her father. "No!" she rushed forward, pushing the guards' arm away. "Princess?" the guard gave her a questioning tone. She merely shook her head, "Go be useful somewhere else, 'kay?" The guard gave a sigh, "As you wish, Princess." He then gave Adrian the look, "I've got my eyes on you." Then the guard began his patrol back down the hall towards the dining quarters.

The young princess shifted her gaze from the guard to the prince who was now in front of her. He seemed to be of her age judging from his appearance. Her current situation was causing her to feel uncomfortable. She couldn't get over the fact that she was a mess, now that was added to all the unlady-like qualities and traits she's portrayed over the past five minutes. Getting past all this she found the courage to not run, like she typically would have, and she gave him a full-hearted curtsie, "Please, forgive me for my rudeness. I am Princess Kaiko Naruta Gorngus." Kaiko brought herself back to standing straight and managed a smile, "What brings you to my family's kingdom?"

Simply giving the guard an expressionless gaze as he went to eye him Ari thought about how these guards were quicker to do their job than Lance and his knights. Yes, the young Prince could compare the two just on this act alone. Once again this girl seemed to surprise him more and more. Peaking his interesting in her greatly. Not only did she halt him from grabbing ahold of him but sent him on his way. Clearly this was in fact someone of high power.

Princess Kaiko. Oh what do I do now. Is she the one father has sent me to marry? What do I say? Do I say anything? Oh this is quite confusing.

Those questions plagued his mind renlentlessly however he did not show it. Just gave her the same smile from before. Why? Because in all entirety, Ari appreciated not being dragged out of here like a little rag doll. Thanks to her. Her eyes shown that she meant what she was saying and her curiosity was just what he liked about people.

“I…” Before he could truly form something to say he had blurted out a word. Shifting his eyes to the ground then back to her he finished “I am here to speak with you and your father actually. My family and yours believe that it is in the best interest to have us wed”

Well what else could he say but the truth? As odd as it sounded yes that was why he was here. Adding on Ari reached into his right pocket and pulled out a small little case. “This wasn’t a part of what my father wished but I was going to give this to you.” Opening the little crimson case he revealed a small little silver bracelet with the Magnisuis insigna on it. Now in no way was Ari a romantic but he learned a bit from his mother on how to treat women. And well, his mother gave this to him for when he did meet the girl he would be spending the rest of his adult life with. Even if it was an arranged marriage.

A small chuckle begged to escape when she felt his arms flail around, unsure of how to react to her hug. She really should have known this may have made him feel uncomfortable, but he was doing a lot better than he assumed himself to be doing. He finally found a spot to place his arms at her waist which she was fine with. He spoke his words awkwardly and she finally laughed. She was finding his timidness with her to be rather amusing, considering his confidence was so high as a leader and vigilante.

Pulling away with him, she nodded. "Yes, meeting him now will be best." she didn't know too much about the relationship between the Magnisius and Leandor Kingdoms, but she quickly assumed they weren't as close as the Gorngus were with the Hemelia. Hemelia and Gorngus happened to attend each others balls and get-togethers quite often. It kept the peace and respect between the kingdoms. But apparently, this wasn't the case for the other two. She hoped the dinner would be alright, despite the tension that may occur.

When he offered his arm, she smiled at his grin and slipped her arm in again. "Let's" she replied simply, mimicing the answer he had given her before. As they began to walk towards her fathers chambers, one of her guards began to approach her. It was Edward. This was never a good sign for Edward was on of the guards she put in charge to watch over her younger siblings. They would give the messages promptly and this put Athena at ease. Well, unless they were approaching her like now. She stopped and waited for his message after he bowed to her.

"I'm sorry to interrupt, Princess. But it seems a guest has been found.... in Princess Kaiko's room." Athenas eyebrows raised as she took the news. What was the youngest Prince of Magnisius doing in Kaiko's room? Athena quickly nodded a thanks to the guard and began to make her way towards her sisters room.

"I'm afraid we need to make a stop." she said apologetically to the Prince on her arm. Moving down the hall, she glanced to see one of the guards walking off. He didn't look very happy. The small brunette boy was with Kaiko, and Athena hoped she hadn't heard the news yet. Moving towards the pair, she now noticed the state Kaiko was in. She was a utter mess. Athena sighed as she saw her. She should have known better than to think she wouldn't take a ride on Gabriel even whilst in a dress and with guests. It was just the way Kaiko was.

"What happened, Kai-chan?" she spoke calmly, masking the worry that she was really feeling. "I also see you've met out lost guest." She glanced at the boy, hoping he hadn't given the news yet. Kai-chan wouldn't be happy with her older sister if she knew she had kept such important news from her for so long. But she would have reacted. Everyone knew this.

º Relief crashed over Gwen like a wave on the sand. She couldn't stop herself from giving him her most dazzling smile. He had earned it, and earned so many extra brownie points in the process. At least he understood. She could definitely see having quite the pleasant relationship with this guy. Looping her arm through his fluidly, she rested her slender, gloved hand on his upper arm, in the process pulling him a little closer to her side. They might as well get over any shyness over physical contact now. Gwen was a very touchy person-- she liked hugging people more that most prefered. Just being close to others in general made her feel more at ease. She was never one for straight-backed "at least an arm's length apart" types of activities. Where was the fun in that?

"Would it be alright with you if we toured inside for a little while? This dress is a plague" she said with a sheepish grin. She loved the outdoors plenty, but just not in this kind of attire. She was wearing a "doll" dress as she liked to refer to them. The soul purpose of such a dress was to make them look pretty and dainty, and just like a little china-doll. It wasn't terribly functional for strolling outside in the sun, unless you wanted to get a sun stroke. Fanning herself a bit more enthusiastically than her manners mistress would have approved of. Never in her life had she been thankfult o have remembered her stupid little fan. It was usually used at balls as a sort of sign language. Different flourishes meant different signals. Her personal favorite was being able to tell a young man to buzz off without having to get pinched for "improper speech".

"Before I forget to ask, what would you prefer I call you? I suggest you choose before I come up with some dreadful little pet-name for you like I tend to do with everyone else" she winked playfully.

This all came as a shock to the young princess. All these royalty showing up first thing in the morning.. for this? Why hadn't her father told her? Her, of all his daughters, he didn't tell her! Wasn't she 'Daddy's little girl'? Surely he would have told her something as big as this. But no, he neglected to inform her of this life changing ordeal. Fussing about it to Adrian would do her no good, so she kept her mouth shut. This wasn't his fault.

Fault... That's such a nasty word. It made her sound ungreatful, which she wasn't. Truly this was no one's fault. Prince Adrian was only doing as he was instucted. At least he was instructed to do something! She, on the otherhand, was left in the dark. She would have prepared for this if she knew! Or would she? The fear was setting in so fast. Would she have prepared? Or would she have saddled up Gabriel and taken off some where remote as to not be found and live a simple life wed to some commoner's son?

Her thoughts on this matter of choice were interrupted when something shiny was brought to her attention. It was a beautifully crafted silver bracelet with the Magnisuis insigna embeded on it. Her hues seemed to glitter as she looked at the fine piece of craftsmanship, "It's so pretty."

He said it wasn't something his father told him to do, so this was a gift of his own curtasy? She couldn't help but giggle. Sure, the day hadn't the best start, and she had just been informed she was engaged, but the simple gestures he gave reminded her so much of her dreamy Prince Charming.

That's it! The title finally made its click. Prince Adrian, no matter the oddity (and convenience), was her Prince Charming.

Kaiko wasn't too sure if this was true or not, but it fit! It wouldn't hurt to give it a chance, would it?

It was then that Athena and Prince Vyse showed from down the hall. She gave the older prince a deep gaze. She made the connection now. Both her sisters, and herself, had to become wed to the other princes. This one, being Athena's betrothed. Kaiko's smile faded, glancing back up to her sister, "I was jumping over the fence.. and my dress got caught on a nail.. so I fell." She answered Athena's question slowly. Had Athena known about this? About the marriage? If so, why hadn't she told her? Why hadn't anyone told her? Was Kaiko not to be trusted? Was it because she was the youngest? Perhaps it was because they thought she would freka out. If so, they were right! "Yes, I stumbled upon him.." she paused, thinking carefully about how to finish her sentence. She didn't wish to get Adrian into any trouble, "I stumbled upon him on my way to my room. I was returning from Gabriel's stable, to change my clothes." Her hand trailed over the torn fabric, now feeling embarrased and humiliated once again. Her optics shifted to stare at bottom hem of her dress.

Frankly, Oliver was a little surprised at how easily she took his arm, how comfortably she seemed so close to him. He didn't mind, really; they'd have to get used to this eventually. But, it did catch him off guard a bit. It was nice, though, having her there. It was like she fit perfectly, a missing puzzle piece that put the whole thing together.

He nodded, though, when Gwen mentioned going inside. The dress didn't look to comfortable. Tight, probably hard to breathe. Better to have her change then have her faint in the middle of their walk. And for one split second, Oliver was extremely grateful he wasn't a woman.
"Yes, perfectly." He agreed, watching her fan herself. He didn't blame her. Out here in this heat wearing a dress like that couldn't be fun.

What to call him... Well, his name didn't really go along with many nicknames. So he usually stuck with plain old Oliver.
"Oliver would be fine. But, you could call me something else." He explained, mustering the most charming smile he could manage in response to that cute wink of hers.

The prince was very pleased with the way things were going. And from how they'd been together so far, Oliver could honestly think that he wouldn't mind having Princess Gwenivere of Gorngus as his wife.

As Seiko approached her garden, Kassandra came rushing out of her quarters. "Princess, you carridge is here to take you to the Leandor Castle now. Please, follow me.." The women spoke softly, and gave a gentle smile towards the princess. Turning quickly, she had given a sympathetic glance. "Well.." Her pale eyes then turned and looked at her garden once more. "Alright, let us be off now.." She really wanted to sound as if she was completely grown up. But, sometimes it just didn't work.

Letting out a heavy sigh, Seiko began to follow their servant. Smiling, and letting out a small laugh. Kassandra pointed the princess towards her carridge. "There you go Miss.." Before taking off into the castle grounds, she had some other buisiness to attend to. Seiko merely stared at the white decorative carridge infront of her. Her small hand lifted from her side, as she pointed her tiny boney finger at it. "You're taking me in that fancy thing..?" A guard that was standing next to it nodded. "Only the best for the youngest princess of hemelia, ma'am." He smiled and helped her get into it.

Sitting herself down gently, she waved for the carridge to be off. As it began to pull away from the castle, it began to get smaller and smaller as it picked up speed. Letting out a heavy sigh, Seiko knew that she was in for a pretty long ride. So she merely watched the scenery pass by with time. But, with every waking moment. The younger Princesses eyes began to get heavy, and she drifted slowly off into sleep.

Standing inside of the castle, it was dark and dusty. Coughing loudly, Seiko tried to speak. But, to her demise nothing had come out. Scream, whisper, nothing. There was no sound, the only thing that she could do was hear and see. Even feeling things wasn't happening. She felt numb from head to toe, and that was unusual.

A figure, dark and liquid like floated into the corner of Seiko's eye. She quickly spun her body around, but there was nothing there. Sweat began to beat down her face as she got more and more nervous with each waking breath. The air chilled and her breath was now visible. Seeing that figure once more, Seiko then began to run down the stairs as fast as she could in her dress. It wasn't working so well, seeing as whatever was with her then stepped on her dress. Before she could catch her footing, the small princess began to tumble down the stairs. A couple of flights actually. It seemed as though she had been falling forever.. until she hit the bottom.

In pain and bleeding, Seiko lifted her body with much struggle. What was going on, this was so very strange. Closing her eyes, she sat up upon her knees to only puke up blood into her hands. A figure, black a dismal then stood infront of her, and it's pale white hand reached out from under it's... sheets? Seiko refused to take it, and tried to scream at it to tell it to get lost. But no voice. Grabbing her throat, her dark eyes then looked up at the figure. It's face, wasn't even visible.

It's arm, then reached out to grab her...

A guard had gently placed his hand onto the princess, "Ma'am.. We are here.." Without and hesitation, Seiko sat up from her slumber and screamed. "GET OUT ! DON'T TOUCH ME !" Her eyes were glazed over, as she stared at him.

She then suddenly snapped back into reality. Her features were staring at him in horror. "I-..--i'm so sorry Frank.." She spoke softly and gave him a small forced smile.

Gently, Seiko removed herself from the carridge and straightened herself out, before taking a gander at the Leandor Castle. My my, was it ever huge !

º Sighing contentedly, Gwen lead him up the stairs and into the castle itself. The drop in temperature was magical, and Gwen paused to remove her hat and merely place it on a small table nearby along with her fan. Someone else would get it--and it wasn't like she wanted it back right away. Frankly, she thought the head adornment was downright obnoxious with its lace and feathers and what-not. She shook her head gently, letting the long spirals of auburn hair from her ponytail rest on her upper back. She tightened the bow keeping the up-do together and turned back to her guest. "Well, I think Oliver suits you just fine for now. Don't you worry, I'll have a pet name for you soon enough" she teased. In the mean time, he probably felt overwhelmed in his new surroundings; so a tour seemed to be in order. But where to start? It was a big of a vast estate from the caste to the barn to the field to the garden...the list went on and on.

"Well, why don't you tell me about your interests and I can pick rooms to show you from there, hmm?" she smiled, returning to his side, re-looping her arm through his, and replacing her hand on his shoulder. She wanted to learn as much as she could about him before they set a date and all. It'd leave less room for awkward surprises later on. She began to lead him down a long corridor--one that would give him time to choose what he wanted to say without feeling rushed or anything. Plus, it was lined with several paintings and a few large bay windows looking out into the field. A relaxing environment to be interviewed by one's future wife, no?

Simply put, Ari felt extremely curious about the nature of this girl. From her odd ways of dealing with uneasy situations to how easily she accepted the news. Well as easy as anyone who found out the person standing in front of them was going to be their future husband could be. Unknown to him was that someone or shall he say two others were coming down the hallway. He hadn’t noticed them since his eyes were forcused on the red head in front of him. Her reaction basically. Interestingly she seemed to have tossed out the shock and seem engaged with the little present. Yes it was quite beautiful, his mother made sure that only the finest things were given to him and his older brothers. Though he had seen more gorgous things for example…

That’s when Adrian turned to see who had been approaching them. To his surprise an older male and female were now in their presence. To be blunt, something about the other female told him that she had a certain calm air about her. The way she simply gazed about her sister made him believe they were extremely close. When he listened to Princess Kaiko speak he began to feel a small uneasy feeling. Almost as if he wasn’t suppose to be here.

The way she talks about the event makes it seem that I was some kind of thief…

Which wasn’t the case truly however that’s how the words passed out and hit him. Not her fault, just the way it could be perceived. Nothing personal he knew. Why wasn’t Ari taking anything and twisting it into something horde? Because he knew that if anything, being calm and under control would lead to understanding the situation. Which was, these two were apparently fiance and fiancee. Like himself and the lovely Princess Kaiko. Still embarassed he gave a small bow before apologizing to the older sister of Gorgnus.

“Wasn’t my intention to intrude.” Though he figured his needless words would go unheard since his voice was quieter than before. Lowering his gaze down it appeared that the two, Kaiko and himself were doing similar actions. This was unintentional as well. Extremely.

Gwen seemed more relaxed now, out of the sun and in the coolness of the castle. It was rather nice in here, soothing after the intense heat of the sun. He laughed at her light teasing.
"Can't wait." he responded simply.

As the princess came back, arm and arm again with Oliver, he thought about her question. Interests? Well.
"Reading is one of my biggest. It would be wonderful to see the library?" he suggested, looking around at the hallway. It was large, and strangely relaxing. The windows were nice, too. Lightened up the place. The paintings that covered the windowless parts of the walls were of high quality. About everything else was, too. Just a normal castle. This was of some relief; at least there wasn't anything extremely different about this place.

Oliver continued to think more about what to tell her. Well, he had never been a fan of fencing or swords or archery or hunting. He liked horses, though, but not so much that he rode on a daily basis. Maybe every now and then for fun, or on short trips. Other than that, though... If it was raining, that would be good. Oliver loved the rain, loved being in it, watching it, hearing it. He would take Gwen out in it and they'd run around, talk, walk. Provided she liked the rain, of course. But, it wasn't raining, So this was of no use.

Come to think of it, most of the things Oliver liked or were interested in were small; laughter, full moons on clear nights, how autumn looked, spring time. Nothing that could be captured in the rooms of a castle.

Kaiko had heard the prince's apology and this mage her feel even more uneasy. Not only was her big sister most certainly taken back by her apperance, but now he too, was uneasy. At least, this is how it seemed to the young princess.

She had explained herself to Athena, and standing there was just unsettling. She adverted her gaze from below and gave her sibling a grin, "I have to go to Nurse Eliza now." She held up her skinned palms to show her sister some proof that she needed some tending to. "She's probably gonna give me a load about these if I don't," Kaiko tilted her head in a cute fashion, acting as though this happened every day. She didn't want to wait around for Athena to scold her about proper care, or how she should have used the gate.

Kaiko quickly took ahold of Prince Adrian's empty hand and began to drag him down the hall, away from her sister and her fiance. She was definatly going to hear about that later! Once she got herself and her prince out of earshot she slowed her pace to a walk. Ignoring the burning sensation on her palm and gave Adrian a smile, "Sorry about that. Thena can get really protective at times, and now just isn't a good time."

She continued to absent mindedly lead him through the elaboratly decorated halls as she kept talking, "Did you know there is a breed of horse called Akhal-Teke from Russia? They can go for days without water and food. I bet you knew that a male horse is called a stallion and a female horse is a mare, but did you know that once they're parents, a daddy horse is called a sire and a mother horse is called a dam?"

Have you ever thought about what protects our hearts[♥]?
Just a cage of rib bones--and other various parts...
So it's fairly simple to cut right through the mess...
...And stop that muscle that makes us confess.

º Gwen smirked to herself. 'Bookworm, huh? Oh he and Thena will get along splendidly.'she thought happily. This was going far better than expected. She was actually...looking forward to this new chapter in her life. Although they'd only known each other literally under ten minutes, Gwen felt a real connection--she might have not been able to find a better match had she been choosing her own husband. "The library. An excellent choice" she said with a nod, taking a branching hallway towards their enormous collection of books.

When they reached the doors, Gwen was unable to contain herself. He liked reading, so he'd find the library rather impressive, she hoped. It was a good deal larger than other private libraries because of her sisters tendancy to spend a lot of time in the room, devouring books like a starving man devoured food. She gently release his arm and stepped behind him, taking off her gloves and covering his eyes. "Ready?" she inquired with a soft giggle.

To be honest, it wasn't only Thena that used their many volumes of books as havens to pass the time. Gwen found herself inside many times a week, merely running her fingers along the faded spines of ancient texts and the stories so long forgotten. She had to admit that she loved fantasy more than any other genre of book. They were like portals to another place--away from troubles, away from pain. When her mother died she distinctly remembered wiping her eyes angrily, sweeping up an armful of adventure and fairy tales, and locking herself away in her room for a day or two, coming out only to exchange novels.

Nowadays she read for pleasure, not so much as a means of numbing a sore spot in her heart.

She ever so gently edged Oliver forward, and using one hand to cover both of his eyes, used the now free hand to shove open the heavy wooden doors, revealing the enormity that was their private library. She removed her hand.

We are so fragile...
And our cracking bones make noise--
& we are just breakable, breakable, breakable girls and boys...

The two of them walked arm in arm, and Gwen seemed happy with his choice. Oliver really was excited to see what it was like, the library of theirs. He hoped it was big, and even more than that he hoped there was a good selection.

He smiled a little as Gwen covered his eyes, leaving his arm for a moment to open the door. Now he was really anticipating seeing what it was, even if it was just a library, not some magical world. In a way, though, Oliver guessed libraries could be considered another world. What with all the places books could take you.

She pulled her hand off of his eyes, and he snapped the open, his smiled only growing wider as the took in the room. Just what he'd hoped; large. But really, that was an understatement. It was huge. He couldn't help himself, so Oliver walked right in, running his fingers along the spines of the old books. Some he'd read, some he'd heard of, some he had no idea exsisted. The latter was a majority of them, and this was good.

Still smiling and thrilled, he turned back to face Gwen, even though they were a few feet away from each other.
"It's wonderful." He told her, suddenly having an urge to hug the princess, take her hands, kiss her cheek. But that would be too forward. Besides, he didn't have the courage. Turning back to the books, saving himself from blushing, he looked at more of them. All big and thick. And Oliver really hoped he would stay at this castle for awhile, have a chance to read some of the books here.

There were signs of people, here, too. A cluttered desk, books left open or set pages-down, to keep a place. So Oliver could only assume that Gwen liked books, too. With every new thing about her, it seemed that he was liking her more and more.
