Hyacinth June Diamonds
"They talk to me, they tell me things..."
The sound of footsteps echoed throughout the large castle library. Soft, steady, practically silent footsteps. There was no need to rush in this place, no need to rush at all. A soft, steady footstep would get her where she wanted to go as fast as a fast, hurried footstep. So she took her time, walking silently, obediently. Her fingers skimmed the spines of every book, searching for one she had yet to read. Her heart raced at every title, and her mind wondered: 'What would it be like to go there? Do that? How would it feel? How would I feel?' Than she sighed, perhaps the loudest sound in the library. What she would give, for just the smallest amount of freedom, of leeway! But no, such a thing is unobtainable for a princess. Such a thing is, unthinkable.
Silence fell over the library. An all-to-familiar, deafening silence. Her eyes scanned the room around her, with scarlet carpets, marble walls, and bookshelves made of yew. But her mind was elsewhere. She had been told that she would be wed soon. "A beautiful bride to a handsome prince," she repeated the way her mother phrased it. Now normally, a princess' eyes would shine at this proposition. At being wed, as her mother put it, to a handsome prince. But June... her eyes fell downcast, she didn't even know this prince! How could her parents expect her to be happy? Wait... was she even told his name? That silence fell again, and June closed her eyes to think. Her mother's voice... "Hyacinth, dear. We have grand news... You will be a bride!" Than her father's... "The bride of..."
But just when she was about to remember his name, someone touched her shoulder. Startled, June jumped, facing the person that had disturbed her train of thought. It was simply a castle guard. She sighed, flashing a small smile. "Yes?" The guard looked at her, returning her smile. Even he, a recently hired guard, knew that she was the calmest of all her sisters. "Princess Hyacinth, there is someone at the door for you," the guard stated. His voice matched that of a man in his late twenties/early thirties. June merely nodded, curious as to who it might be. "Thank you," she murmured, walking past him. But before she left the library, she turned back to look at him, "and please. Call me June." With that, she left the library. Her steps once again quiet, steady, and practically silent.
At the front door, Jun spotted a young man around her age, and her two sisters: Catholic and Ophelia. She threw a glance at the young man, before looking at her sisters. "Jamie, Ophelia," she nervously tucked a defiant piece of hair behind her ear. "Who is this?"
Practically silent, Unobtainable, Unthinkable, Deafening, Practically silent...
I can't escape these feelings.
"... Because i'm the only one that listens."
