Cloud 7 is a war roleplay based in the year 3743, on a small newly-colonized planet in a forgotten corner of the galaxy. The battles are fought in the air and 'mechs dominate the battlefeilds. There are heroes and grunts dying and killing on both sides every day. Some fight for love, some for freedom and others for their own purposes. Which side will you choose?

Storyline:

The story of Cloud 7 takes place in the year 3742, but let's take the history lesson from today, shall we? 2012: the year the Earth died. By now, powerful storms and blizzards, fueled by the ignored global warming, have demolished many of humanity's great creations and war has torn apart nations and the human race as a whole. The feuding civilization extended its military prowess to the reaches of space and attacked itself at dangerous levels. Dr. Oppenheimer's prediction ironically was proven false, as a comet brought about the ultimate demise of Earth, and not nuclear warfare. The comet was swift and inevitable, and humanity forsook its war to save itself. Many people were saved, but more were lost during the impact. The comet was so powerful, it was called "Omega", as the impact threw the orbit of the Earth into a sharp spiral into the sun, bring an early end to the star. Its home destroyed and its solar system ruined, the refugee ships humanity consented on a single, socialist government to ensure its survival. The United Terran Federation brought about an abrupt peace to the fleet of self-preserving colony ships, and they set off in their seperate ways toward habitable planets in the galaxy. Centuries of peace and expansion followed the creation of terra-formers and FTL travel and communication, allowing humanity to re-build its once glorious empire and a new, lasting golden age came over the prospering society. This 14-century long period was called the "Platinum age" (an upgrade from gold) and great technologies were discovered, one of the most useful being called "proto-crafting", which allowed the direct transfer between mass and energy. This new advancement was a technological milestone, allowing buildings, ships and even atmospheres to be created on the spot, energy providing. Countless planets were terra-formed and colonized, but then humanity's primitive instincts and old past came into the tale, and the powerful empire committed war on itself and between planets.

Our story takes place on a small terra-formed planet originally called "Terra Prime 7" because of its amazing similarities to the first Earth. This planet, roughly four-fifths the surface area of Earth with seven times the atmosphere volume, was fittingly re-named "Cloud 7" in 3625, a few years after it's terra-forming. Cloud 7 served as an agricultural and fuel-supplying planet to the colony ships that used it as a pit-stop on their journey further into the galaxy, but when the war came, it was near forgotten and no word of what was happening was officially announed to the government there. The confused government waited for orders, but gave up after a decade of no communication from anyone. The UTF-established control of the planet decided to expand on the planet instead of fueling the non-existant colony ships and the blue planet was inhabited to every acre it provided. The planet consisted of a single, continuos ocean, two medium-sized (Australia-sized) continents at the poles with small islands along the rest of the planet and a very large and thick atmosphere. The temperature of the planet ranges from 100°F (33°C) along the equator and 70°F (22°C) at the poles, making the planet much like a common vacationing spot. The population on the planet boomed to unexpected heights, and the labor power of the entire planet became more than the government could provide, so they did any society's answer: they sent the supplementary population of the planet into military service. This move boosted the economy of the single-nationed planet further and an apprehensive prosperity came across the land. The people of the north side of the planet were very big on freedom and rights and acted as a safe haven to all genetic modifiers, different sexualities and, to some extent, religions, something the socialist UTF oppressed for the survival of humanity.

There came about a revolution on the date of February 2, 3740, the "Phoenix Nation", the people of the northern side of the planet, declared it's independence from the UTF government. The UTF, blind-sided by this move, responded with military force. The split broke fairly evenly along the equator of the planet, though the UTF controlled everything below 10°N, leaving the Phoenix Nation slightly underhanded. The technologies for space extended to satelites and nothing more, as the planet was there to refuel them and not make them. Three years of war have brought about the military application of 'mechs, evolved from "walkers" and exoskeletons, brought the fight to the air, wreaking havoc from above. The armies of land and water were overwhelmingly downplayed as air power reigned the most crucial military role, and warfare was switched to large launch ships, serving as bombers and the airborne home of heavy gunships and 'mechs. Eventually the need to stay constantly airborne came about and Airborne Landing Pads (ALP's) were created as repair and recharging stations for the almost space-worthy ships. We enter our tale of fates and destinies here, where two nations of the sky clash for power over their land, and eachothers.

Factions:

United Terran Federation:
This faction is the currently dominant force on the planet. The socialist government allows all citizens freedom to do as they wish, as long as they helped the advancement of humanity or the government and followed the laws. While the government was highly controlling over businesses and individuals, it retains it's socialistic status by allowing the citizen regulated freedom of choice, the right to property, simple weapons, control of a business and choice of military service (if they join). They held the planet of Cloud 7 in peace until the emergence of the freedom-vying Phoenix Nation, when they responeded with an attack on the capital of the new nation. While they are against the genetic modification of people, they do use the process on their soldiers to help combat the Phoenix Nation, making their units hard to kill, though they downplay the use of elites. They fear what Phoenix Nation may do to win the war so they employ Blitzkreig tactics to their offense to stop the opponents from ever putting up a defense. The UTF's units and ships are generally blocky and mass-produced. They fight in order to re-take the land that turned to the Phoenix Nation and keep order among the people and planet.

Phoenix Nation:
This faction controls the planet to 10° North and above. They are hardcore libertarians and fight for the absolute freedom of their people. They became a nation on February 2, 3740 and declared itself independent from the UTF government. Although they stated that they would contribute to the advancement of humanity as a whole, the UTF attacked their capital. They are true patriots, not employing any type of draft, but relying on it's own people to fight the war under their direction. Because of this, their numbers are generally fewer than that of the UTF so they combat them by spending a great deal more on individual units to defeat their foe's strength-by-numbers strategy. Their units tend to be less generalized and sleek, bristling with guns and armor and commonlay able to fend off two launch ships at once. They are home to genetic modifiers (cyborgs, kitsunes, hybrids) and defend the belief of any person, no matter what it is, which can sometimes become a liability more than an asset. These zealots of freedom fight for their land and to liberate those under the rule of the UTF, going to far lengths to acheive it. (Though the current extents may go further...)

'Mechs/Ships:

Evolution of 'Mechs: 1→2→3→4→5
'Mechs started out as over-sized tanks, a giant tread base and the turret being a body with guns for arms. Then the ancient nation of Japan created the "walker" style mech, a four-legged mobile gun platform. After the four-legged design was mastered, the faster, more manueverable two-legged mechs came out. The designs of 'Mechs for war purposes ended their need abruptly in 2012, when there were no more wars to be fought. In 3714, 'mechs for military roles came back when the UTF began it's active, though un-needed, recruition into the military and the design of 'mechs were changed dramatically (through the combination of the worker 'mechs with arms and fingers, and those with guns) when the "omni-mech" came out. This type of mech spoke the words "power" during it's test phases and the ability to fly was invaluable. The omni-mech brought the fight from the ground to the air and vice-versa. The omni-mech can be fitted with a variety of roles, from anti-ship to a 'mech counter, the skilled pilots of these airborne giants do their fair share of work in war.

Evolution of ships:
Gunships are the current heavy fighter and counter to 'mechs and other small ships (besides turrets and other 'mechs). These fast, manueverable ships are armed from the engines to the nose with missiles, turrets and other weaponry. Assault Ships started when the need for anti-ship warfare was needed, just as Launch Ships were needed as both the counter to the assault ships and to refuel, repair and transport fleets of fighters and 'mechs and to replace traditional bombers. Fulfilling each of these roles to great extremes, the launch ships are the most common type of large military unit on the battlefeild. When the need to keep the launch ships were needed, and to have a juggernaut that could hold the frontlines were needed, ALP's were invented. The flying cities bristle with weaponry and docking pads, to repair and recharge the launch ships. So far, the evolution of ships has not reached space, as the need for an outer space presence is un-needed besides satelites for intel. Dreadnoughts are the slow, hulking titans of the frontlines. Meant as blockade ships and choke-point holders, these flying walls of pure gunfire deny the enemy of movement nearby them. The common types of ships for both sides are:

Pre-set 'Mechs:
The common 'mech types, given to all pilots upon graduation. These 'mechs can sport a variety of weapons, gadgets and paint jobs (though red is common for the Phoenix Nation and Blue for the UTF). Their fingers allow them to carry oversized rifles and missiles are commonly mounted onto the shoulders, though configuration of the 'mech is completely up to the pilot. A jetpack on the back allows them to fight battles both on the ground and in the air, making them extremely versatile.

Stats: The T-Kat's 121st Model was built to the specifications of Kody Darkstone, a Squad Leader of the Pheonix Nation. Built for speed and efficiency, it can move at speeds faster than most mechs, despite its size. It has two missile launchers at the top of it, which hold 3 missiles each, a panel near it's cockpit that launches disruptor rockets, which cause a mech to malfuction for a short time, two laser blasters, one on its right shoulder and one on its left arm, that shoot out red lasers, and a panel on its right arm that fire a short burst of lasers, although this function takes alot of power. It has mediocre armor, because it was built to be fast and agile. Fast and strong, this model is one of the only 10 that were made, all of them for the Pheonix Nation.

Stats: Reaper is a customized Omni-mech, all done by Dero himself. It's adaptability shows on the feild, with hundreds of combinations of weapons throughout the mech. It has multiple tracks throughout the frame that allows certain weapons and parts to move to multiple places on the mech's body. The large hammer is also part of the mech's configuration, sporting quite a bit of voltage in a generator in the staff. This can be used as an EMP, a reserve generator, or can be combined with the mech's arm to create a powerful electric melee. Missile launchers are also placed in multiple places on the mech's body, amounting to about 30. The two cannons on the mech's shoulders can be moved to it's arms for better accuracy. They can either be powerful energy cannons, or fire large missiles. The mech also has wrist-mounted machineguns on each arm. The mech isnt heavily armored, and is pretty slow in-flight, having to lean at very small angles just to keep airborne, but the firepower makes up for this.

Ranks apply for both nations. The Captain is the commander of the launch ship, he also controls the Ship Pilot as another character, to limit post delay. The Squad leader gives orders and commands the other 'Mech Pilots, being their in-battle officer, and takes orders from the Captain, if any. The 'Mech Pilots are the skilled techies behind the controls of the the 'mechs that the launch ship may house. Gunship Pilots fly the heavily-armed fighters of the 38th century, meant as the counter to 'mechs by having more firepower. The Crew Members play a variety of roles, ranging from mechanics to gunners and from assistants to the one controlling the main cannons' fire (they can also be played by the Pilots).

Personality: Rex has minor OCD and tries his best at being a perfectionist. He can be pessimistic about himself and his decisions and likes to stick with them, unless it puts others in a bad position. He is humble and kind, but when he gives an order he expects it done without question. He likes to think over his options before using them, which gives him some stress in battle. If he is ever unsure of a decision (out of battle), he will normally consult with Mark, to whom he considers as the brother he never had.
History: Rex's mother, Danielle, entered military service when she was 20 and spent five years in training, just like his father, Jason did. Jason wound up being the captain of the same ship that Danielle was assigned to fly. A year later, Danielle was relieved of military status and raised Rex in Himmel. Rex grew up getting A's in school and progressing himself in the developing world. After he graduated from high school, his mother died of illness and his father of a training exercise, where his 'mech malfunctioned and plummeted to the ground. Rex joined the UTF Academy, having nowhere else to go, where he met Mark. Mark and Rex became great friends, even though they were perhaps the most opposite in all classes and skills, Rex liking history and english while Marcus liked math and science. The two graduated, Rex as a Captain and Mark as a Ship Pilot. The UTF decided that since they were the best pair in the final test stages of the academy, that thay be paired on the same ship, so Mark and Rex are both on the same Launch Ship. When the Phoenix Nation declared its independence, Mark and Rex both willingly joined, liking the idea of un-tampered freedom. Rex was also paired with Kody Darkstone, who he treats as a superior, but still expects his orders fulfilled by him. Rex has so far been on the front-lines since the beginning of the war.

Personality: Marcus is cocky and outgoing, and quite the flirt. He is proud of his abilities to push the manueverability of a ship, and to be able to navigate battles. He is kind, and jokes alot, and will try to ease bad tensions between people. When it comes to battle, his attitude changes completely, to paying attention and listening intently on every order given.
History: Mark was an orphan, being born with the wings on his back. Gen-modding does not normally affect offspring, which may be one reason why he was orphaned. Mark grew up getting passing grades in school, not truly interested in the past or how things worked. This attitude died when he passed his graduation test in the tenth grade and joined the military academy earlier than most, as he was very interested in driving the goliaths of the air. His second reason for joining was because he was commonly scorned for his genetic modification, and the UTF did not care if you were in military service. He met his best friend, Rex in the academy and trusts him with his life. He never wanted the position of Captain, just wanting to pilot the Launch Ships instead of commanding them. Rex became Mark's tactitionist, and he did everything Rex told him to do. When the Phoenix Nation declared its independence, he insantly comitted himself to it, as they accepted gen-modders into their society without problem.
Weapon(s): Mark is very sad about the loss of his last ship, the Aggressive Truth, but is very happy in receiving his new ship, which is bigger and sports more guns, but less 'mech space. He also carries two Pistols.

Personality: Strict and cold since day one, he really knows how to get down to buissiness. He follows orders carefully and intelligently, usually with a few manuevers of his own added to the mix. He treats everyone equally, not always speaking with respect to his higher-ups. When it comes down to it, this is the guy you get if you want the job done right.
History: Raised in a military family, his parents and older brother were all part of the UTF military force. He grew up learning flight maneuvers, strategic battle options, and melee combat. When his family was taken into custody by the military and submitted to genetic-mutation testing, he escaped and joined the Pheonix Nation, working his way up the ranks quickly. However, before he escaped, he was submitted to some testing as well, and his gloved up to the elbow right arm holds extreme strength.

Personality: Dero having one of the most customized 'mechs out of both armies basically screams 'Cocky'. He likes making himself easily spotable for, as he says, "Added fun". He views war as game that no one wants to lose, so his battle strategy is rather arrogant, but it works. Dero will usually bring an overpowering force to battle, using more force than is really necessary and always leaves a signature mark on battlegrounds he has been to. He loves having fun, so he makes quick friends and enemies with his antics.
History: Dero grew up a happy child. Nothing too special about him, except the fact that he was constantly trying to play games. Everything was a game to him, eating, bathing, even sleeping! He always had to win, and he always had to use some creative way to win. Even school had to be won. It was no great surprise when he decided to join the army. When the Phoenix rose up he joined without hesitation, thinking the UTF were stuck up and had no fun at all.

Personality: Lexa comes of as cold and aloof, but she is actually really shy. She usually plays rough when she is in combat and can be perceived as blood thirsty. She isn’t one to play the damsel in distress and usually hates the idea of others helping her out, even if she really needs the help. If she gets angry, watch out!
History: Not much is known about Lexa’s past. She was given her rank and title because of her remarkable abilities and skill. She is excellent at martial arts, and seems to adapt to situations very quickly. When she appeared to help the Phoenix Nation, she was escorted by several dark figures and dropped off with very few words. There are rumors that she isn’t human, but, so far, no one has proven it.
Weapons: A standard gunship. She also carries a samurai sword on her back. It is in a smooth black sheath with an inscription saying “Darkness hold me steadfast” written in kanji.
