PARK

She took a deep breath and examined the empty park. The swings were swaying slowly back and forth. The jungle gym was drenched with light rain fall. Huge puddles formed at the end of the slides. Something caught Reine's eye. A passageway leading into the forest. Knowing that something dangerous and something interesting would be at the end of the passage Reinee had to decide whether to explore or ignore it and go home. But of course, she was the type of girl who loved to seek adventure. She rose upon her seat and looked both ways making sure nobody was watching her. Quickly and gracefully, Reinee glidded over to the passage and ran all the way to the end. At, the end a big black gate greeted her. The rain had subsided and Reinee was caught between either opening it or running back the opposite direction. " Adventure or Coward?" she asked herself. She thrust the gates opened and stepped inside closing the gate gently.

Stepping out of his house to the sound of his father's voice Akira swung his bag over his shoulder and set out towards the place he worked. He kicked a rock down the street while thinking of ways to get rid of himself with out anyone knowing. Putting up a false smile when he stepped through the door, he headed to the back of the store to get ready and put his apron on. Greeting his boss he went to work the register and smiled for the girls when they came in every after noon to see him work.

In his mind he was rolling his eyes.

Kyoku sighed as she sat in her room, bored. "Always here, day after day. I hate this place." She mumbled to herself. She stood up from her chair by the window and thre open her wardrobe. Hidden in the back, Kyoku kept more normal clothes; skirts, shorts, t-shirts. She pulled out a simple pale pink dress and switched it with the elaborate clothes she was wearing. She opened her window and looked to the tree a few feet away. "Okay, you can do this Kyoku." She said to herself, stepping up onto the windowsill. Taking a deep breath, she jumped, and managed to grab onto a large branch. She pulled herself up, so that she wasn't hanging, and looked down to the ground below. "Okay...now how do I get down from here?" She sighed. Obviously she hadn't thought this through very well.

GARDEN

Reinee couldn't believe her eyes. Sitting in front of her was a magical place bright and beautiful. Birds were chirping and flowers already bloomed and some currently blooming. In front of her, was a flowing fountain. " Is this real?" she asked. Suddenly, her phone rang to the sound of " One Time" By. Justin Bieber. She checked the caller ID. Dad stared back at her in big block letters.

"Hello?" She called.

"Reinee? Where are you?" Her father asked sternly.

She paused, " Um.. Not very far from home father. Is anything the matter? "

" Not far from home is not very specific. Is there something you're trying to hide? A boy perhaps?" He dully replied

" No worries father it's no boy, I'm just taking some fresh air two blocks away from home. No need to worry. " Reinee countered rolling her eyes. Her father always jumped to the "boy conclusion" like everything revolved around them just because she couldn't date one.

" Fine. You have 10 minutes to get home right now. It's almost 8pm. And you still haven't had dinner yet. " Her father scolded.

" Yes father. " She quietly spoke and hung up her phone.

With a sigh. Reinee turned away from the magnificent beau and hurried back home.

Torii Kimura

Torii got up from his bed and blinked the rest of his dream away. He dragged his feet across the floor feeling the weariness in his body. Stepping into the bathroom he looked into the mirror, his hair was a mess, and the old tattoo running up his face seemed to be growing again. 'Where did all go wrong' he thought . Dressing quickly in a white t-shirt and jeans he picked up his bag and left his 'home', if home could be describe by a room with a bed and bathroom. Slamming the door quickly behind him Torii ran off to class 'well I'm only 2 hours late'

HARRIS MANOR

Reinee slowly crept inside her house closing the door gently behind her. She turned on her heels and was suddenly greeted by her fathers strict face. " Hello Father. " Reinee greeted. Her father just stared at her in disgust and gestured her over towards the dining room. What did I do this time? she wondered. She thought back to what she had done this morning. I woke up, ate breakfast... then I came home from school, did my homework... then now came back from the garden. She heard the creak of her father's chair as he sat down as his usual seat. Reinee stood next to her chair and clasped her hands together behind her back. "Why aren't you sitting Reinee?" her father asked coldly. She flinched, "Oh um.. i just wanted to know what I did wrong.." Reinee braced herself, shutting her eyes tightly for the next words escaping from her fathers mouth. " You did nothing. " She opened one of her eyes " Then why are you being so cold toward me father? " she asked. " Let's sit and have some dinner first, then I will discuss this. " He said dully. Reinee relaxed and took her usually seat. Her servants served her and her father a delicious meal and she ate slowly anxious to see what her father will tell her

Naomi mumbled as she swung her legs over the edge of her bed. She sighed, pulling on a simple white dress, and wrapping a black lace shawl around her shoulders. "I'm leaving." she shouted as she scurried out the front door. She walked down to the park, and it was unusually empty. Not a soul was on the swings, benches, or anywhere in sight for that matter. But in a sudden gust of wind, Naomi heard the squeal of a wooden gate shatter the eerie silence of the deserted park. She skipped over to the mysterious gate, peering down the densely wooded path. Nothing...or so she thought. She raced down the path, and was met with a stunning marble fountain, and a secret garden.

Kyoku sat on the top of the thich branch, praying that her parents wouldn't walk into her room. "You're not all that smart are you Kyoku?" She muttered to herself. "Smart people don't get themselves stuck up trees." Kyoku managed to maneuver herself down the branches until she was at a jumpable spot from the branch to the ground. "Okay..here goes." Kyoku jumped down from the branch, falling in a heap on the floor. "Ouchie.." She mumbled, sitting upright and looking around her. Thankfully, she hadn't attracted any attention.

HARRIS MANOR

After the meal was completed. Reinee waited silently until her father finally spoke.
" Reinee. You're still young. I don't know how you are going to take this. But.. I'm getting re-married. " Reinee blinked in disbelief. " Excuse me? Your kidding right? Father, This is no time for jokes what is the real thing you want to tell me about. " she cried. " Reinee. I just told you I'm getting re-married to a women by the name of Elizabeth. She has a daughter. Your age. Her name is Naomi. " " Your telling me, you decided to get MARRIED without my imput? How could you father? I thought you said you were going to put me first! ME! But you know what? It looks like your putting YOU first. " Reinee spat blinking back tears. " Reinee that is enough! I told you, I had no idea how you were going to handle this. Listen, I am a single father working hard to raise you and to keep this house in working order. Look. I know you need a mother. And I can't take care of you all by myself. " He countered. " I'm going to my room. Thank you for the meal. " she turned on her heels and stormed up to her bedroom chamber.

Torii Kimura

Three hours later after school Torii just stumbled out of the main gate 'Why do I insist on coming to this god forsaken place day after day'he though. All the teachers were simpletons and if he even bothered learning anything it wouldn't help him in the long run. He passed by a flower shop, he always passed by this flower shop after all he always took the same route but today felt different somehow. Buying a dozen White lilies Torii walked to the nearby graveyard, the gates creaked as he opened them and after a quick search he found what he looking for. A headstone placed neatly under the shade of a nearby tree glowed brightly as if the sun was beaming it. Inscribed on the headstone were two simple words Kariruki Kimura. Placing the lilies down Torii mumbled a few line of prayers and wished the best for his mother. Sitting against the tree Torii took out a worn black sketch book. Everything in here held his thoughts, his life, and his future. Every picture, caption and sentence had their own meaning but most of all it was full of emotion. After a quick few minutes Torii slumped and fell asleep.
