"Erm... What's wrong?" Roland asked awkwardly. It was particiallly his fault the young man had been hit with the demon fire - which, by the way was much more advanced then most demons could cast, so the fact the half demon had it mastered and was going for a full demon parent didn't warrant him with much time to live.

"He was hit with a ******** fire spell, or, I'm sorry, did you miss him trying to SAVE YOUR LIFE!" She screamed angerily. "Does it not count when its a 'demon'?"

"Well I was right!" He responded indignantly.

"No, you weren't!" Addy hissed, her eyes flashing a dangerous shade of purple-green. Her minotaur magic was surfacing, but she couldn't cast it; she didn't have the physical energy left. "Evan's half demon! His father's a demon! My aunt isn't, my mother isn't, and my father isn't. And, if that's a bit hard to understand, that means MY BROTHER AND I AREN'T DEMONS!"

"But..." he trailed off quiet confused. "He has horns... the boy didn't..."

"Our father's a minotaur! Not a demon!"

"He's not human, it amounts to the same thing!" Even as he said it, he was doubting the rather cut and paste teachings he had always lived by. Cailen didn't seem evil. Hell, he'd just kept his cousin from blowing him to s**t. Addy wasn't evil either - a bit spoiled and a complete brat, most certainly, but not evil. Even the half-breed seemed more... chaotic theb actual evil.

"Ooo.." She hissed, glaring at the Paladin. "I hope Da rips you piece from piece. Maybe let Aunty Corrin and Uncle BlackJack practice torture methods, they've been getting a little rusty."

Yup, he was gonna die...

The house was finally in sight in a few moments he'd be home and he could warn his father and uncle, then it would just be a matter of casting a teleport spell and everything would be allright. "Oh please let everything be all right again."

He stumbled as he made an ungracefull landing and rushed inside screaming at the top of his lungs. "DAD! UNCLE DRAKKAN! COME QUICK!" But before they could react to his shouting he had located them both in the kitchen preparing this evening's meal. "Daditscailancomequickheshurtneedshealing." He blurted it out all at once making it hard for Blackjack and Drakkan to understand. "Slow down kid i can hardly understand you." Evan was fuming, not because he had been called a kid which usually ticked him off but because the two old geezers werent moving fast enough. "Cailan is hurt come QUICK!"

Roland had stopped speaking awhile ago, watching the siblings with growing guilt and concern. Whether most hybirds were dark forces or not, these weren't, and one might die because of his prejudice. Barely old enough to call a man, and it would be innocent blood on his hands.

Addy, stroked his hair lovingly, singing softly as his brown eyes glazed in pain and blood internal bleeding. If Evan didn't hurry, he wasn't going to make it. how could she live without her brother? Who always kept her out of trouble when she and Evan tried something stupid, like, well, troll hunting.

Now that they finally understood what was going on Drakkan and Blackjack wasted no time. Drakkan started casting a Travel Vortex spell, as it would take less time to complete than a regular teleport, while Blackjack gathered a few things they might need and informed Mercutio and Corrin. Moments later they stepped out of a light green vortex that had materialized next to Cailan and Addy.

Drakkan rushed towards his son and kneeled down next to him. "Addy what happened precisely?" He started inspecting Cailan trying to find what was wrong.

Her head snapped up and she uttered a hopeful, "Daddy." before shaking her head and answering his question. "we came out troll hunting, there's suppose to be a cave to the north, but we were seperated. Evan and I were cornered here and took care of our problem with no injuries, but Cailen had been captured by troll. He met up with this Paladin," She nodded at Roland. "And when they were free came back here. We talked a bit until he came to the conclusion Cailen was a demon. Evan moved to attack casting a fire spell - I don't know which one, but it strong, and it lasted a good half a minute - but Cailen blocked it, you know how he is. After that he collapsed, and he hasn't been moving since. He's delusionsal, there's no major injuries except a few broken ribs, so I has to be internal bleeding."

Drakkan was only half listening to the story as he inspected Cailan. It wasnt just some spell that did this, there was something...strange about these injuries. Drakkan pulled out a small knife and made a small cut in Cailan's arm, black blood started oozing out. "He's been tainted! Step back Addy dont let it touch you."

Drakkan took a step back and started casting a spell to close the wound again. "At the rate the infection is going he'll be a mindless minion within an hour time. We need to kill the source of the infection before that happens. Addy you said this cave was due north right? Could you take Blackjack and corrin there? I'll try and slow the taint as much as i can."

"Excuse me." Roland interjected.

"What!" Addy snapped, gabbing her bow and grinding her teeth.

"When we were at the cave, the troll was tainted like this. He removed, or at least quarentined, his sword with some stick. Dragon's Bane, Dragon's Breath, something like that." He explained, hoping it might aid them. Tainted. He was so sure they'd avoided all traces, but somehow found its way into him.

Addy looked at her father, then nibbled her lip and looked back to the Paladin. "I don't know where the cave is, exactly. You should take him, he was there."She motioned to Roland.

"Its closed." he said. "Cailen closed it with an explosion."

"Heh a closed cave is only a minor obstacle. Just take us there mister paladin." Blackjack walked up to the paladin motioning to him to take the lead. "By the looks of it a pretty standard operation, find a hide out, knock wanderers unconscious, infect them, let the infection do it's work, rinse and repeat untill you have a large enough force. Probably some low level demon trying to grab some power he'll be easy enough to dispatch."

"And you'd be speaking from experiance, I suppose." Roland muttered, figuring since the two older men.. well one was a minotaur and that left the other amazingly human looking man to be the demon.

"Watch it." Roland was met with a head rolling whack to the head by a quarter staff when a short blond woman - even shorter then Addy, though not by much - glared at him. "Keep your mouth shut and walk straight or I finish the job my son started, and believe me," She gave a vicious smirk. "It will be far less pleasant."

If Addy hadn't clearly said her aunt wasn't a demon, Roland would have easily believed otherwise. She seemed to be the only one who went out of her way to enjoy other's pain. Either that or she just didn't like him.

"Actually yes i would be speaking from experience. I don't think i've introduced myself properly have i? I am lord Blackjack former general of the Legion's second batalion, turned to rebelion by one of your kind and damned for it untill my lovely wife saved me and your world along with it. So who are you?"

Blackjack grinned at the paladin noticing that he felt uneasy traveling with the two of them.

"Erm.." His eyes slipped to the evil little woman who grinned back maliciously. She saved the world? dear lord, what a terrifying thought. Thank God both of them were either lying or delusional. "I'm Roland Luther, Second Class Paladin of the Holy Shield."

Corrin snorted and rolled her eyes. "Oh yay, a bible thumping holy idiot with a pointy stick, just what we need."

"Aaaw only second class. Bummer that means you havent learned about the good stuff yet, like the truth behind the demon rebelions and the purging of the once proud city of Sethir. Probably because your fate isnt absolute yet right?"

Blackjack stopped as he saw the cave entrance. "Ah there we go. Hey Evan instead of trying to follow us without being noticed why dont you make yourself usefull and blast it open so dad doesnt have to waste his strength." Evan appeared from the nearby foillage and cast a shatterice spell on the rocks to clear the way.

"Right then let's get this over with so we can go have dinner and i can tell Roland some stories his pally pals dont want him to hear yet."

So... Did that mean he wasn't going to die?

Roland merely watched the demon in confusion, hoping he was right about this suddenly not being completely life ending. It would be most ungallant, disappearing out in the middle of nowhere, because a man had been tainted protecting him.

"Oh, just to warn you, if Cailen turns... Well, He got his patients and tolerance from his father, so if he comes around you're alright." She licked her lips like a satisfied wolf. "If he doesn't, he'll make BlackJack look like your fairy God mother."

s**t.

Blackjack grinned as he entered the cave, he had grown his armblades and had switched his eyes for a pair that could see in dim-lighted places. "Better watch your back now holy boy, We're all immune to the taint but you arent."

Evan walked behind the paladin holding his hand close to his component pouch. This was the first time he had gone on an adventure with his parents and he wasnt going to make himself look like a fool.

blood wars

Corrin felt her skin crawl, itching as she moved through the cavern, eyeing her surroundings. The satisfaction she'd felt at the Paladin's discomfort slid away, filling her with an unholy disease.

"Love, this is more then some little up start." She said worriedly, gazing at the skittering creatures of taint. They avoided the group, afraid of what powers they possessed. Taint was more then blood or power, it had a sentient mind which controlled each part. She was actually quite surprised it had been this threatening.

Roland eyed the suddenly... well, fragile looking woman. She moved with grace, but also a halting hesitation. If she had problems with what was here, and she was immune, how was he suppose to feel?

With a soul screaming fiery flare, roland was knocked to the ground, rolling to end on his feet, sword drawn. Yet, when he saw his attacker, he froze.

Corrin shook her head, rolling her shoulders and flexing her hands. It had been awhile since she'd been forced into this particular body, silver hair flowing down her back as she glared at the overly revealing black ensemble. With a slight grin she turned to her husband. "Well, what about this shirt, honey?"

It had been nearly twenty years since her short stint as Aeranis, but she had to admit, it was nice being in a younger form again. Demons didn't actually age, but BlackJack was a loving enough husband to look human for her.

Roland's mouth dropped. First off, she was drop dead, no two ways about it, gorgous. Secondly, she was the previously green gown clad, golden blond, green eyed, middle-aged woman, now with tight revealing black clothing, silver hair, purple eyes, and nothing middle aged about it. Those twin blades looked a might bit more vicious then her quarter staff, so he couldn't help but gulp slightly.

his eyes shifted from each of his, uh, temporary companions. While his har and eyes came from his father, everything else - including temperment, he was tempted to say - came from his mother... or at least, this version...

"What the hell..."
