"It's called dragon's root. It only grows in a few remote, not to mention deadly places. I got a handfull as a birthday gift from my aunt and uncle. As you can see it's quite handy. Lets not waste time and chat though we have to get out before it burns out id hate to have to use another one." Cailan slung his sword over his shoulder and advanced towards the exit keeping the stick between him and the blood. As soon as they got past the blood they started running for the cave opening reaching it as the root sputtered a few dying flames. "DOWN!" He threw the root over his shoulder and fell to the ground putting his hands over his head. A moment later a huge explosion tore the cave opening appart causing it to collapse.

"Ah." was Roland's only response as hestared at the collapsed enterance in slight shock. So it exploded too... Fancy.

"uh." He coughes pulling himself to his feet. "Thank yous are in order I expect. You help was most appreciated." He held out his hand for a handshake. "I am Roland Luther, and you?"

It was with a slight start he finally noticed the two small protrudes on the young man's forhead. The looked quite like... well... horns.

"Do you mind if I ask who exactly your aunt and uncle are?"

Cailan saw the man's eyes dart towards his forehead and back. "Dont mind the horns, I'm part minotaur." He took the man's hand and shook it. "Cailan Daxia pleased to meetcha."

"And yes i do mind if you ask that since my sis is in trouble at the moment. Once i get her out of trouble again you can come meet em if you want." He looked around for a second before dashing off in Addy's direction. "Try and keep up."

Roland blinked before registering his interesting aquaintance was at this moment running away. Jumping into action he followed after, hollaring. "Wait a moment, you were abducted by trolls and your sister is the one in trouble?" he paused. "What on earth is your idea of a bad day?"

And because the particularly useless newb disappeared without posting, I now take control and declare a tree, which was damaged by Evan's previous magical attacks, fell on the obnoxious character, fitfully squashing her like a bug.

Addy blinked - much as Roland had just done - staring at the now mangled mess.

//Uh... Problem... Solved.// She sent to her brother, accompanied by a foggy mental image. //Er.. at least I think.// She added, kicking a limp head. When it didn't respond, she sat on the fallen long with the gore at her feet, dutifully awaiting her brother.

"So..." She trailed looking at her cousin. "Any new love interests I should know about?"

Just because they lived all by their lonesome in the middle of only they knew where with no other creatures (except troll) for company didn't mean he didn't have a girlfriend! Oh God, what if he did? She could only hope it was a very... pretty.. troll...

//Eeeeeew.// He shook his head to get the mental image out...true he had killed before but never as messy as this. He slowed down a bit allowing Roland to catch up with him.

"Oh yes. Tons." Evan replied sarcasticly and put away his spell components. "What about you? lured any young fools into your web? Or maybe you like them older." He would have continued if it wasnt for the arrival of Cailan and a stranger. A stranger who wore the insignia of those pesky defenders of the light. "Paladin." He spat on the ground in front of Roland.

Roland cocked an interested eyebrow at the teen's response to his presence. He knew people in these parts were fans persay of paladins, but wasn't that a bit, well... rude?

Addy noticed his look and waved him off. "Oh, don't worry, he's just irked that no matter how hard he tries to impress the non-existent female population with pretty explosions and other methods of doom, he doesn't have a girlfriend." The blond stuck her tongue out at the rather sulky boy. "And just to clarify, since I know I'm the only good looking thing for miles besides your own mother... and well, my mother... but i'm not sleeping with you. I have higher standards then my cousin."

The paladin was rather entertained by what he presumed was Cailen's sister mock his little insulter. Well, he was rather small. Cute too. Uh, moving on...

Roland shook his head. Much too young, and most certainly not a supporter of his tastes. Hell, he doubted the boy would approve in his taste of air to breathe, much less his much more personal veiws... but he was adorable while stewing angrily...

"Ah, charming family, Cailen." he finished instead.

"If you say so. Thats my sister Addy sitting on the tree that's squashing....well something. The one who's glaring at you and according to my sister cant get a girl to like him is my cousin Evan."

"Bah who needs girls anyway." Retorted Evan not taking his eyes off Roland. He would be watching him. Who knew why he was here? Best to be cautious.

"Right moving on then. Sis seems the troll cave you found is full of tainted trolls. Nasty bussiness maybe we should just call it a day." Still not taking his eyes off Roland Evan replied angrily. "What? Leave again? Hell no we didnt walk this whole way for nothing i want my part of the loot."

"Unless you know someone not dedicated to lords of hell but can still say 'Hey, goo of evil, go away' I think Going home is the best plan. I can send a letter to the order and they'll have mages here within the month." Roland explained.

"Well Actually - "Addy chirped before sutting herself off. Oops. Paladin + Anything mildly demon related = something dead. Wait, she was demon related. Er, related to a demon, a - Well her aunt was often mistaken for a demon on her particularly moody days, besides the big confusion of what exactly made her genetic code, and well... demon and a whatever the hell mix cousin.

Telling the purger of all things not sparkly white was probably not the best idea.

"Actually?" Roland pushed.

"Uh, Actu-ally.... I forgot! Oh dear, Cailen, mother wanted purple begonias!" She emphasised her like with an exagerated smile. "Isn't that right? And Evan She hissed his name, glaring a warning in his direction. "You mother said violets would be lovely."

Luther watched the exchange with extreme suspicion. There was something this family didn't want him to know. Besides, why would a family with beautiful children be hidden away in the middle of demon infested territory. Unless... Horns... his eyes widened as he drew his blade and pointed it at Cailen. "I see the trap now, Demon!"

Addy looked from warrior to paladin and groaned, slamming her face into her palm. "Oh, bugger...."

Cailan leaped back as the Paladin brandished the sword at him. "Hey watch where you point that thing." He drew his sword ready to block any attack. Now let's talk this....Evan NO!

Evan was standing behind Roland spell components in hand, no mistaking it the smell of sulfur, white goo in his hand and to top it all off a shard of ruby. Major fire spell coming up. "I knew the paladin couldnt be trusted. Archon's flame!"

A large spiral of flame burst from his fingers glowing darker as it neared Roland untill it was pitch black. But before the spell had the chance to burn through Roland it had to try and burn through Cailan's sword who had thrown himself between Roland and the spell.

Cailan gritted his teeth as the pressure on his sword increased. Any moment now any moment it had to power down, no way Evan could hold a high level spell up for longer than half a minute. And just as he predicted the spell did power down untill it finally dissipated. "Thank god." That was all Cailan could mutter before he collapsed.

"EVAN!" Addy screamed as she doved at her cousin, punding him with her fists as he tried to block the blows. "You no good, foul smell, arrogant, impulsive, not worth a spit, dumb demon half breed, I should put you a** on a POLE!" She whacked him one last time for good measure, glaring at him long moments after her assualt. Then she continued. "You knew Cailen would take that firespell, he suffers from over active scruples! He's not like a normal person who would, ya know, just let the b*****d fry! THINK before you blow things up!"

Roland watched the pair with his sword drawn, but shifting his weight indecisively from foot to foot. Apparently the cute one was evil.... and the big one had over active scruples? How did a demon have any scruples?

"Umm..." he interjected, only to be met with a harsh-

"Oh, shut it, Holy man, or I make you and the lady a matching set." The small teenager girl snapped, pointing at the fallen tree. With an annoyed growl she waved her hand and suddenly his limbs were trapped by... plants?

"What the - "

"SHUSH!"

"I was hoping he didnt make it in time! But nooooo mister goody two shoes has to save another person. Besides he's a big guy he can take it." Before Evan could continue with his excuses he was interupted by a coughing Cailan. He was still lying on the ground blood dripping from his mouth and holding his side. True he could have taken that spell under normal circumstances, for example if he hadnt already taken a beating from a troll club, a huge troll club at that.

Addy watched Cailen for a moment before whacking her cousin again. "Evan! You beat him up again! Leave him with a little dignity, won't you?"

With that she walked over to her brother, helping him sit up. "Sorry, babe. I Know it hurts, you look like hell. Don't worry, though, I'll kick Evan's a** for you later."

It never once occured to her it might hurt his big minotaur pride to have the short woman avenge his defeat. Much less his younger sister... again...

As soon as he sat up he could feel a stabbing pain in his side, like someone was jamming a sword in there and turning it around. "Something's wrong sis, it never hurts this much." He laid down on the ground again still holding his side. His breath was coming in ragged gasps and he was feeling cold.

Evan looked at Cailan lying on the ground, he was starting to get worried. Usually the big oaf was up and about in mere seconds after being hit by just one spell.

"Baby?" she asked, cradling Cailen's head as his face went to a disturbing clammy palor. Worriedly, she wiped the sweat from his face, checking his pulse and breathing. "Oh... Oh, God." She stuttered, trying to rub heat into his limbs, checking him quickly for gaping holes she might have missed. All she found was broken ribs, but there was no outer wound that could be causing this.

"Baby, come on." She pushed, slapping his face lightly to keep him concious. "You have to stay with me."

She looked over at evan, snapping harshly. "Don't stand there! Get my Da! I'm too drained to do anything, and he doesn't have long!" Tears welled in her eyes as she held her brother close. "God damn, Evan, what were you thinking...."

"Uhm right." Evan turned around, what was he gonna do? they were too far away from home he'd never get there in time, he wasn't as fast as Cailan nor did he know any spells like teleportation or flight. Flight that's it!

He concentrated hard trying to form wings on his back with his inherited power. "C'mon c'mon." A pair of black leathery wings suddenly burst from his back, sure they had a weird shape to em and they were pretty uneven but they were wings none the less.

"All right! Hang on Cailan i'll be back before you know it." He took to the skies and flew towards their home. "Damn this is still not fast enough." He took a small feather and a shard of glass from his component pouch and started to chant a quick spell. "Gale!"

Suddenly he flew forward at breakneck speed as a powerfull wind pushed him along. "Whoa too fast." He took a sharp dive to get out of the windstream only barely stopping himself before he hit the ground. He looked around and noticed he was much closer to home now. "Just a little longer."
