Fadel let out a heavy breath, eyes scanning the crowds of people. Events like these, fancy parties and meetings and such, was the kind of thing he enjoyed going to... But not dressed in a monkey suit and being summoned to give out watered-down champange. Several females around looked pretty nice in their dresses, though a few had a bit too much make-up or were wearing their dresses wrong. The red-head sighed, adjusting his name tag. It read a fake name, of course, he was on a mission.

Fadel cleared his throat, his hand sliding up to itch his ear, and pressed the small golden earring as he passed, then let his hand drop.

"This was the stupidest idea ever. Not plan wise, but placement wise. I know Ram has the girly figure, but I could just as easily have taken his place and---"

A small static covered voice of a male filled his ear, "Nova, shut the hell up. Your line is to be used in emergancy only."

"I wasn't talking to you, runt, I was talking to Hack..." Fadel whispered, glancing over the crowd again.

"Wait until you get the signal, then commence the mission. Dumbass."

'Yeah, yeah. Nova out." Fadel hissed, reaching up to touch the earring again. He glanced around, but he was in a corner of the room dressed in waiter clothing. No one would have paid him a passing glance unless they wanted more booze. The Captain set his eyes back to the target and the man who hired them. He was silent, waiting for the man to signal him. It needed to be subtile, Rodger was sure to pound that into their heads.
Ensign Elizabeth "Liz" Reinart

"The pleasure is all mine. Ensign Reinart." Liz replied, returning the greeting and giving her name, "Elizabeth, if you prefer."

The woman glanced once more at the large crowd that was already beginning to appear. I don't know how the Prime Minister does it. First the Eterria Ball and now this? Just getting all these misfits and NE together in one room without fighting is unbelievable. To get them all together to have a civil discussion? It's a shame he doesn't have the authority to influence policy on either side; this war would be over a lot sooner if he did."

Rodger Greensdale
**

Perfect. Raven was leading the conversation in a good direction for the older Royal. Rodger's expression turned appropriately serious at the mention of the dog's name. He, of course, understood the significance of the name. He had done his homework on most of the key guests, and in Ravens case he had scrounged up everything he possibly could. "It's a good name," he mentioned, feeding the second half of the treat to Basil and giving the puppy a gentle scratch behind the ears.

"I regret that I never really had the chance to meet most of the Fitzroys in person," Rodger sighed as he stood back up, "The good Prime Minister didn't start having these little parties until recently, after all. But I did know them by reputation. If a Fitzroy gives you their word, you can expect them to keep it. As Royals, we have to put on a united front, or nothing good will come out of this conference" Rodger gave a deep breath, as though apprehensive about how Raven would take his suggestion. "Raven, I would like to propose a misfit alliance"

"And," he added, "I hope that you will consider being its leader"

((PS: Rodger's signal is going to be him finishing off his glass of wine. Anybody who has been around for a while will tell you that Rodger's trademark is the blue wine that he always has with him, so you can't possibly get more subtle.))
(( Can't write an rp post, but Raven would reject the offer at first thinking he's pulling her leg. *hugs to all* See you guys on the first))
((He figured that would probably be the case. Don't worry, he's got a convincing argument prepared!))
Odalia "Raven" Fitzroy
***

"Excuse me?" Raven seemed to with draw from him. Warning flags soared in the young Fitzroy's mind. Rodger was a Royal after all and rarely did alliances between Royals last very long. Even short term ones tended to end with only one party benefiting in the very end. "Rodger," she said calmly, "What are you really up to? Alliances rarely last long between Royals, we all know that."

In the back of her mind Raven was going through a mental list of all the reasons Rodger might want to form an alliance. It was quite a growing list with some reasons a bit more uncomfortable than others.

"I do not know how he does it, but if this will help to get the two sides to talk civilly then I support him whole heartedly," Elexico replied with a nod of her head.

At that moment the two oldest part members joined into the conversation as well.

"Oh ho! I have a theory as to how he does it," Eduoard said with a chuckle, "I have seen it with some of my more 'strong headed' students, as we'll call them, when it comes to trying to weasels out of something. If I talk to them long enough, I find that eventually even the most stubborn student will agree to whatever it is I wanted them to do. And simply to get me to stop talking. That, my friends, is how I believe the good Prime Minister accomplishes such feats." At the end the aged scholar gave a solid nod of his head as if it confirmed his viewpoint. Laughter could be heard from several of them.

"Eduoard, was the Prime Minister by chance a prodigy of your's?" Truk asked as he gave Eduoard a pat on the back.

Missing the point the aged scholar replied, "No, why do you ask?" The puzzled look on his face made Truk laugh again.

"That must mean that you are Professor Eduoard Leeravaditri Aktra-Gondeuld then," Sora said.

"A valiant try, but it is Lyravaditri Aktra-Gondeu’uld. Not to worry, that is the closest I have head my name pronounced in a long time. Do please call me Eduoard. And whom do I have the pleasure of teaching...?" Eduoard was use to instructing others how to properly pronounce my name and thought of teaching a joy whenever possible. There was something uncannily familiar about the young newman. Eduoard had always prided himself on remembering names and faces so this bothered him.

The newman gave him an embarrassed smile, "Heh, sorry about that, Eduoard. Sora Mizuki at your service."
Ensign Elizabeth "Liz" Reinart

Elizabeth gave a nod of agreement. The key word is "if" she thought wryly. While she had her doubts at how much the peace talks would actually accomplish, the fact that no fights had broken out at the pre-party was heartening. When they were joined by the others, she had to chuckle at the comparison of the N.E. and Royal Misfits to students. "I certainly hope your students get along better than the attendants of this party usually do." she mentioned, grinning as she did.

The young woman nearly did a double take after Sora identified one of the members of their conversation. She was standing next to the Eduoard Lyravaditri Aktra-Gondeu’uld. Feeling as fancy as she was this evening, it had been easy to forget just how many famous and important people were at the venue. Liz was by far one of the most obscure guests at the party. In a way, she suspected that was one of the reasons why she was chosen to attend. If anybody wanted to pull anything funny, they'd be watching for Xhu and other high ranking N.E. officials. They wouldn't be watching for a relatively unknown ensign, which made her a valuable part of N.E. security.

"What am I really up to?" Rodger echoed, sounding slightly offended, "You make it sound as though us Royals can't possibly have common interests. I don't know about you, Raven, but I like being able to set foot in Neutral territory when business requires it. I don't want these Neo dogs extending their influence into Neutral zones. If the N.E. puts up a unified front, and the misfits don't, who do you think the Keppler Neutral Pact will side with?"

"We're both smart people, Raven. I've angered many misfits. So has Kalis. So has any misfit with any reputation. Out of the four Royals, you've angered the fewest. Therefore, you are the most logical choice to lead any sort of misfit alliance."

Rodger crossed his arms, his cordial air evaporating, being replaced with one that was much more businesslike. There is far to much at stake here for egos to be important. I'm willing to play nice until the peace talks are over. It shouldn't be longer than a week or two, in any case. Afterwards, we go back to our respective corners of the galaxy, and things go back to the old, familliar routine."

"What do you say? The enemy of my enemy is my friend?"
Chief General Arthur McCoy

Commander Li Xhu

It wasn't long before General McCoy attracted attention. Xhu estimated they made it two steps into the party before the general found himself bombarded by his fans and critics. Xhu stirred up a bit of attention himself, though mostly just critics. Arthur was tactful to remain silent when such critics approached Xhu. On one hand he felt he should stand up for his commander, but on the other his goal was to settle some sort of peace between the misfits and the Empire, and standing up for the Misfit Hunter himself would perhaps give the wrong impression.

“Should I be concerned about you Arthur?” his old friend, a Newman named Alli Shonrow who was now the ruler to the neutral planet Rowe, chuckled.

The general gave a puzzled, but polite look, “I beg your pardon?”

Alli gave an uncertain glance towards Commander Xhu. “I just didn't expect my old friend to be...how can I put this lightly...with the likes of someone whose opinions differ vastly from that of yours. Please tell me you have not changed since we last saw each other.”

Much to Arthur's surprise, it was Xhu who was quick to answer, hiding any irritability he may have been feeling at the moment. “Is this not what this event is for? For differing sides to come together? Work together perhaps? Just because I have my opinion on certain individuals should not reflect the opinion of my superior. I can assure you General McCoy has remained as mindful and respectful to life as always, and while my duties to the Empire are different than his, no other man has kept the Empire as safe and stable as he has.”

Arthur was a little dumbfounded at the commander's remark. Whatever happened at Cycygen must have really changed the commander.

Alli gave a curt smile to Xhu. “My apologies commander. Your words were well spoken and I should not have judged you so harshly.” Alli turned back to Arthur, “I hope this is a success, for all our sakes. It was great to see you again friend, and good luck.”

With that Alli left to go mingle with the rest of the folks at the event. Good riddance, Xhu sneered in his head and imaged multiple ways to get real revenge to his bruised ego.

“I had no idea you felt that way Li. I'm touched,” Arthur gave with a playful smile. Xhu mildly shrugged in response and didn't feel like countering or confirming what he said.

“I dislike all these misfits around, sir,” Xhu sputtered out, watching the crowd for any signs of danger. In the corner of his eye he caught a familiar, haunting face. But when he turned to look the face had disappeared.

Arthured followed the commander's gaze. “Someone you wish to speak with?”

Xhu shook his head slightly, “No, that is quite alright. We have enough talking ahead of us tonight, and I'm already near out of words.” And no, it was definitely not someone he wished to talk to. Kill perhaps, yes. An unfinished job that needed finishing.
Odalia "Raven" Fitzroy
***

The young Fitzroy gave a light shake of her head as she closed her eyes for a moment. "I like it better when you're upfront. I hate sugarcoated things," Raven commented before she opened her eyes to regard him. Her suspicious were not completely laid to rest, but neither could she reasonably deny the logic behind what he had said. "The enemy of my enemy is..." Her voice trailed off for a moment. Out of the corner of her vision something had caught her eye. Raven couldn't help but look over now at the man. He looked more tired than the last they spoke. It had been such a strange conversation in which the Chief General of the Empire Arthur McCoy had expressed concern for her, another misfit marked for death by the empire which he served.

Then she saw him. He made her blood boil that nebula-blasted sorry excuse for a human being. Raven had decided not too long ago that even though he had murdered many of her fellow misfits and her Uncle Raziel, Commander Xhu was not worth calling in her one favor with the Last Juni. No, she wanted the honors of killing Xhu all to herself.

Raven turned her attention back to Rodger. "My friend," she affirmed extending her hand out to the other Royal, "Why not give them another reason to run scared?"

"I made sure that my students always knew that a healthy intellectual debate was good for the mind, but no matter the outcome civility must exist over hostility," the aged scholar said though added, "However, I do remember a few students who needed a few knocks to the head to remember to leave any foul language and rude manners at the door along with their egos." His yellow eyes dotted about the room recalling familiar faces some of which he also recalled teaching.

Sora gave a sort of nervous laugh and rubbed the back of his head. It looked as if the newman had recalled a hit to the back of his head that he had received at one point. Sheepishly he said, "'The very young do not always listen' or so my dad kept telling me."

"Hm, sounds familiar," Elexico commented with a glance at her own father.

Truk replied, "I believe I always said, 'The very young do not always do as they are told', Elexico."

"Right where I left you. I think rectollian mensa crabs move more than you three," came the playful banter of their fourth colleague. The woman had barely rejoined them when her eyes fell on the young ensign with them. "...Lance Corporal Reinart?"
Ensign Elizabeth "Liz" Reinart
***

Given that she was relatively unknown compared to the people she was talking with, Liz wasn't expecting to be called by name any time soon. Surprised at this turn of events, the ensign had a slightly confused look on her face as she tried to figure out who this person was. "Formerly. It's Ensign Reinart as of about a week ago." she responded, trying to buy herself a little time as she searched for the woman's name.

Though it wasn't as good as a name, Liz soon had a vague idea of where she might have seen the other woman before. "You were one of the scientists from Alioth VII, if I'm not mistaken?" she guessed. Deciding it was best to be upfront, she added, "I apologize, but your name escapes me at the moment. I suppose I had other thoughts on my mind after the last time we met." This enormous understatement was accompanied by a sheepish grin.

Rodger Greensdale

Rodger took the offered handshake with an appropriately satisfied smile. "Running away scared, eh? I must say, I like that mental image." he chuckled before draining the rest of his wine. Things were going perfectly to plan. It would help keep Rodger out of suspicion later if he was able to claim an alliance with the young Fitzroy. The woman wasn't an idiot though, as she still seemed somewhat suspicious of him. It was time to remedy that.

"I will admit, Raven; while most of my motivation for this alliance is protecting my interests and territory, I do have another ulterior motive." Rodger took this opportunity to send a slightly disgusted glance at Commander Xhu's back. "I recently commissioned some very expensive equipment that a certain commander destroyed. And not by conventional warfare either. Sneaky tactics. Underhanded, even for misfit territory."

"You're no fan of him either, from what I hear." he continued, his voice still bitter, "I want to see Commander Xhu squirm. Better yet, I wish to see him embarrassed in front of his superiors, maybe enough so that he gets replaced; he's been quite the thorn in my side, after all." Of course, Rodger wanted nothing of the sort. The more power Xhu had, the more power Rodger had by extension. It was no secret that Raven hated Xhu though, and he hoped that appealing to Raven's emotions would override her distrust of her fellow Royal. It wasn't as though he hadn't lied already this evening.

As the party went on, Fadel's mind began to wander, his deep green eyes scanning the crowd and soon coming to rest on a young black haired girl's back, a blue dress hugging nicely on her figure, a slit up one leg. The red head's attention was turned away from his goal, and now to the girl. He hair was black, reaching midshoulder and holding light rosey red, almost pink, highlights. She has her back to the man, speaking to some others, not that it mattered to Fadel. His eyes were focused on lower areas then her face.

After a minute, a person walked by, and his vision faltered. He blinked, shaking his head and looking away, grinning as he reliesed where his thoughts had gone. Fadel, you dog... He smiled a dashing grin atop the red stubble (he shaved a few days ago, but it was already returning, damn thick hair.), and looked back to Rodger and the target as the men set down an empty glass of...

"Ah, Nebula!" Fadel hissed, but quickly regained his dispostion. He flicked his ear, muttering into it.

"First signal is out. Get is positions, ladies." He whispered, but clicked the earpiece off as he heard an irrated hiss from the youngest member. The Captain walked slowly through the ballroom. Well... He was getting in position, he had time. He beelined the target, and instead went past Liz and her company. As he passed, his shoulder gently bumped hers, and he quickly turned.

"Oh, excuse me, Miss." He said quickly, and inclined his head a bit before walking away, smart grin on his face. He face was pretty too, how nice. He may have to talk to that one in his off time. Fadel continued forward, looking around at each guests, handing out a few a glass of wine. He reached Rodger and Raven's table, glancing down to look at Rodger's wine glass.

"May I top you off sir?" He asked politely, gesturing to the wine atop his serving platter. He glanced to Raven. "Miss? Would... Oh! Oh my God, Lind! It's me, Denzel! Denzel Berus, from Calscandu Academy? Do you remember me? We sat next to each other in Ancient History Class! I had this wicked crush on you... You... You are Lind Juralu, arn't you?"
Odalia "Raven" Fitzroy
***

For a moment, the young Fitzroy looked as if she was going to kill the poor fool who had mistaken her for another, far less dangerous woman. Guns or no guns she was ready to make the world one less idiot filled, but then a small, nagging feeling called "better" judgement kicked in. Her death glare turned into a sweet-yet-still-deadly smile towards Denzel.

"I'm sorry you are gravely mistaken my dear sir. Perhaps you should spend less time worrying about ancient history and more time brushing up on current affairs," Raven said with a seemingly polite tone to the server, "You just might find that your life will be extended by a few years if you keep up with the universe."

Her grey eyes fell on her new ally. "Wouldn't you agree, Rodger?" As shaky as their alliance would be, Raven figured that they would only have to play nice so long as the cameras were rolling. Out of the negotiation arena they could be their normal, distrustful of each other selves. Any Royal, and any Misfit for that matter, knew bluffing was the first core skill required for survival.

"Yes, yes, I was the one who called for assistance, Doctor Janet Ware. I cannot believe it they said your craft had gone down and you were presumed dead," Janet said looking quite happy and shocked to see the young woman alive and well.

"This is the young lady you told us about?" Eduoard said giving Liz another glance over. She looked quite alive to the aged scholar.

"Ah-hah! So you are talented enough to escape certain doom? I feel so remarkably unskilled next to you, Liz." Sora teased the Ensign lightly even as his eyes briefly traced to follow the server who had bumped into Liz. He thought nothing more of it having turned his attention back to the woman standing beside him instead of looking to see the next woman the server engaged.
Supreme Leader Dimitri A. Welingash
Kami Arion "Air Omega One" in high orbit over Akabalsh

Compared to the vastness of space what was one individual's life? What significance could one individual have in the movement of the universe? Dimitri often pondered such questions when he was alone, which in itself was rare. Perhaps alone was the wrong word to use to describe those moments of faux solidarity. Since he was not going to appear in public until tomorrow he wore one of his casual suits. Dimitri's violet eyes dropped from the luxurious window displaying Akabalsh from high orbit to the finely crafted glass goblet in his left hand. He gave its contents a swirl before taking a sip. Afterwards he held the goblet to eye level staring into the eyes of his reflections.

Feeling... sentimental?

"What is it about the Fitzroys that make them so... defiant? Tell me do you know? I thought not. After all they puzzle you just as much as they puzzle me," Dimitri spoke to the empty space.

You admire them!

The voice hissed with disgust to which Dimitri laughed and lowered the goblet. The Supreme leader began to pace his office. It was still smaller than his office back on Calscandu, but nice enough. There was a large, metal, and crystal desk centered in front of the luxurious window. Before the desk there were two armchairs and beyond that were two medium sized couches with a matching coffee table occupying the space between them. From his spot before the window he gravitated to the left towards the large fish tank. Inside the tank were many freshwater specimens from Calscandu, including several exotic seadrakes. The Supreme Leader treasured the seadrakes the most out of his extensive collection of marine animals. The tank was made of perruniani, a glass-like material that did not reflect a single image. This suited Dimitri a great deal as he could view the tank's inhabitants without seeing his own violet eyes reflected back at him.

Dimitri quietly continued on with the conversation after several long minutes of silence. "When mortal men should tremble and beg for their lives, Malcolm did none of that. He refused to even take the blindfold offered to him. Then there is beautiful Odalia," his violet eyes focused on the red-hued seadrake, "Beautiful Odalia who shed not a single tear at the death of her brother, nor did she cry at her father's demise. She reminds me of the spider lilies of Old Terra. So very beautiful and yet so very deadly. How much anger does she hold inside? How much more could she stand to hold within? She is so full of the same defiance that is characteristic of her family. Tell me, do you think she cries when she is alone so that no one will see?" Dimitri straightened up, took a sip from his goblet, and drifted about the room again as the voice hissed angrily once more.

She will obey us or we shall destroy her. There can be no defiance. There can be only obedience.

With a sigh the Supreme Leader halted at the coffee table. Growing from somewhere deep inside of the alien's mind there was a painful, high-pitched tone not that dissimilar to a screech. With a shaking hand he set the goblet down on the table. Dimitri reached up with both hands to clasp his head between them in an effort to stop the pain he now felt. There can be no defiance. There can only be obedience. No single act of mercy would be granted unless it furthered their plans for the future.
Rig (Tai McCoy)
***

To his luck, no one recognized him and gave little notice to the lowly mechanic. At first he thought this was a good thing. But after a while he realized painfully that...he wasn't someone important. One noble had stopped to ask who he was, and upon explaining with pride that he was Captain Fitzroy's Chief Engineer, the noble shot his nose up in the air and left without a word. Not even a “Nice to meet you.” Just...left. Rig shrugged it off. But then it happened again and again. One group of Calscandu Sterling University graduates in Political Science had the curtsey to mock and laugh at him. Grease monkey they had called him. It only confirmed how stupid misfits were if they thought a mechanic had any place at a Peace Talk conference, they had said. The misfits weren't any kinder. They sized him up and then questioned the validity of Raven's title if she allowed such a pretty boy neutral to touch her ship. After a while of this Rig decided to just shut up. This wasn't going at all how he thought it would. He was hoping to talk and mingle and spread his idea of peace between the two sides. But between the mockery and intimidation, the realization that both sides deeply hated each other crushed his heart.

He was seated alone at a table near the buffet when he saw his father and Xhu pass by. He nearly choked on his water when he saw his old man. He looked taller than ever, but sad somehow. Xhu looked even more off. What had happened to him? He was scared and hunched over. Not his usually proud self. His father turned his gaze in his direction and Rig quickly dropped his fork on the ground, bending over to pick it up. When he sat upright again, they had both gone. He gave out a sigh and returned to his food, idling playing with it in dismay.

Through the crowd he recognized a voice. Raven's.

"Why not give them another reason to run scared?"

The next voice that followed chilled the mechanic.

"Running away scared, eh? I must say, I like that mental image."

Rodger Greensdale. Another royal. He eavesdropped on their conversation and couldn't help feel sorry for Xhu by the end. The man looked ragged enough, now two royals were plotting his demise. Then Rig caught himself. He actually felt sorry for the man that tortured him?

But the more troubling thought was that of his captain allying with Rodger. He didn't know much about the royal, but the way he was manipulating Raven irked Rig. She was better than that. She was better than being a pawn for the other Royals, and certainly didn't need any more encouragement to be rougher than she flaunted.

Deciding quickly, he got up and approached Raven and Rodger. Using a thick Garguron accent his old boss used to use, he played up the “dump mechanic” everyone made him out to be. “Hey Cap'n,” he said none too eloquently. He shoved his hands in his pockets and pretended to be uncomfortable in his suit as though it was the captain that had forced him to wear something other than his mechanic's gear. He bent his head downwards and curled his shoulders in as though fearing his captain's wrath at what he was about to say. He frowned, then just got it out: “I think I broke Gale.”
Chief General Arthur McCoy

Commander Li Xhu
***

Xhu had noticed Rig. He decided to not mention it to Arthur, however. That boy was the least of his troubles...and he had saved Liz. Xhu considered this debt paid now by keeping his mouth shut. They made their way over to where Xhu had last seen Liz since Arthur insisted on meeting his new Ensign. Arthur was sure this young woman meant a lot to the commander since his mysterious absence during the Cycygen mission was the result of him returning with the then Lance-corporal.

They interrupted the group of scientists, a newman and Liz. “Excuse us,” Xhu said with the best polite voice he could manage. “I just wanted to introduce Ensign Reinart to my superior.”

“Oh please Li, drop the stiffness,” Arthur guffawed warmly. That only made Xhu stiffen more. He wasn't exactly thrilled to introduce the highest member of the military to his...what, his quasi daughter? He was surely being protective of her. “Ensign Elizabeth Reinart?” General McCoy extended a hand to her. “I'm Chief General Arthur McCoy. It's a pleasure to finally meet you. Li has nothing but praise for you.” The general was a spitting image of an older Rig. Only with more command and confidence as the Empire's leading military voice.

Xhu was eying the rest of Liz's party as Arthur was no doubt intimidating his Ensign. Or plotting something. Or whatever. Xhu just didn't want Arthur to use Liz against him one day. Not that Arthur was anything like Rodger. Ok, maybe he was being paranoid, but he couldn't relax at this introduction. Then the newman caught his eye. Why did he look familiar? Xhu got a chill down his spine and appeared as though he would fall backwards at any moment. He hated these Peace Talks. Everyone minus Liz made him uncomfortable. Suddenly, he was very angry at whomever's idea this whole thing was. His only solace came with the thought of torturing the brilliant genius behind this worthless conference.
