Vincent rested his head on his younger brother's shoulder, tears still quietly falling down his face.
"...Everything's falling apart, Merric," he said softly. "...Father died... Tadashi left home when the arranged marriages were too much for him... Artyx dabbled in black magic and now won't even come out of his room with some concubine... Donovan is the only one left besides us, but he's gathering people to help with an upcoming war with Thoruntor..."
Vincent pulled back and held his head in his hands. "I'm going to become king in a matter of days, I've fallen in love with my fiance, but she's going to sacrifice herself for something that she refuses to tell me about, and nothing I do seems to dissuade her from it..."
Slowly Vincent looked back at his younger brother, his eyes desperate and full of grief and despair. "I don't know who I am anymore, Merric. My heart's been ripped out so many times, but I still love her so much..." He gripped his arms a bit, his body trembling. "I had to bury father on my own, no one to even help me... I nearly slit my throat in the forest. Trinity was the only one who stopped me, but now she's going to take herself away from me again..."
The future king broke down in tears again, clinging to his brother tightly and crying like a child. "I-I don't... I don't know what to do anymore..."
How much more would he be forced to take?

Merric patted his brother on the back, letting him cry into his shoulder. The news about their brothers were pain-staking, especially about Artyx. He couldn't believe that his twin had gotten involved with dark magic... "It'll turn out alright, Vince. I don't know how, but it will..." The mage smiled a little. "Just hang in there, ok?" After another moment, Merric finally asked the question that had been frustrating him. "Um, Vincent..."
"How long was I gone for?"

Vincent wiped his eyes slowly and looked at his younger brother. When he asked how long he was gone, he blinked in surprise. "...You don't remember? Merric... it's been four years since you left..."
How could he not remember? Then again, he did show up as a white tiger...
At that Vincent sighed softly, pinching the bridge of his nose lightly. "...PLEASE tell me you've at least been safe and responsible when doing your magic..."

Arislan placed his golden helm gently back on, turning to find the young girl gone. He took a deep breath and sighed glancing around for his companion. Raiden was no where in sight. Annoyed and tired, Arislan let out a loud shrieking whistle. The stallion came striding around the corner of the blacksmith, returning to the arms-crossed Arislan. The knight shook his head in disapprove and climbed onto the white stallion. It’s time we return to the chaos at the castle, he thought looking towards the castle towers. Arislan whipped at the rein and buckled his armored boots against the horse who immediately began galloping towards the castle.

Merric went quiet for several minutes. Four years... how could I forget everything for four years? When Vincent mentioned being safe and responsible when doing his magic, the mage sighed. "I've been responsible and safe, but one of the other students wasn't..." The prince scratched his head. "Actually, that's the last thing I remember." Him trying to stop another student from using dark magic...

Vincent sighed softly. "...Alright..." Slowly he stood up to his weary feet. "...I need to get back to work." There was so much to do... First came the marriage--if Trinity stayed around long enough...Then the coorination...

Merric got to his feet as well. That's right. With father gone, most of his responsibilities go to Vincent... "Want some help?" Doing paperwork and research were two things the prince was more familiar with than all of his brothers. Donovan had never had the patience, and Artyx and Tadashi never had the interest. Vincent had done it when he was told, but it wasn't something he enjoyed doing. The mage pushed his exhaustion aside, wanting to help his older brother in any way he could.

Vincent shook his head slowly.
"No... You look exhausted... Besides, I need to speak to my fiance about a few things. I don't think... you'll want to see that..." Vincent glanced down at the floor sadly. He wanted to know if there was even a point anymore in the marriage. She said herself... She wouldn't be around much longer...

Merric smiled sympathetically and nodded, putting a hand on Vincent's shoulder. "Alright. Just hang in there, ok?" He gave his brother's shoulder a friendly squeeze. "And good luck with that talk." The mage headed back to his room, pausing when he thought of something. "Oh, if you see a jester running around, can you send them my way?" He smiled brightly. "I wanted to say thanks."

Vincent nodded a bit, raising an eyebrow when he mentioned a jester, but shrugging it off. "Alright." He turned and headed down the hall to go find Trinity.
Well... He never thought he'd want to avoid a conversation so much in his life. There's a first for everything after all.
Soon he found her among Jolene and the new Princess, showing her her new room. He hesitated before clearing his throat to get their attention. "Trinity... Can I talk to you for a moment?"

Rurutia watched in surprise when the white tiger she had brought up to the castle turned into a human. Well, that wasn't expected. And since he was a Prince, that would be one person in on her identity. Just great, wonderful. She didn't mean ill of them, in fact, she was pleased that they had been reunited. She understood all too well what it felt like to lose a family member. Feeling glad for them, and strangely lonely, she let the door shut, moving outside again to let them have their family reunion. Personal matters. So Ethra was in turmoil even within the Royal line. It was none of her business to meddle even if she wanted to.

The apparent court jester scaled the castle walls, and as she climbed up to her window, stone by stone, she mentally ran through the events of the day so far. No wonder the white tiger seemed to be human. It would be a little undermining if a prince had the form of a rabbit or something of the like. Le Sigh~! I guess I should have been more careful... She would have to avoid the White Tiger Prince like the plague. If truly he hadn't been around for the last four years and hadn't remembered anything, then he shouldn't know about the political mess in Laedra, nor her infamous identity. That was one good thing she supposed, but it was all sketchy and unclear - something she highly disliked.

Indeed, four years ago she had only been 13 and no hint of the murder of her parents would have come to her ears until a year later. Shaking her head, she pushed herself pver the window sil and into a heap on the floor. She was so exhausted. What she wouldn't give for her own bedroom floor back at the palace in Laedra! A slight pang of guilt shot through her as she remembered how many rugs of various animals she had in her room alone, inclusive of the pelt of a white tiger. Ah, no matter. Rurutia propped the swathed weapon against the wall an dleant against it, the coolness of the metal seeping through the thin cloth. Sleep. That was if she could sleep at all.

Merric headed into his room, looking around it. The maids had clearly kept it clean, but it looked very unused. The memories were still fresh in his mind, and everything was just the way he left it... Yet it felt completely different. Finally home... but half of the family's gone. It was deeply disappointing and painful. The prince closed the door behind him and curled up on his bed. He couldn't stop thinking about what Vincent had said about his twin. Artyx... Exhausted and finally able to rest, Merric let himself drift off to sleep...

Zenith blinked, pausing to think about it. "Well, let's see... right now there's two on each arm, four in my boots, one right below the back of my neck, and... the ones on my legs. So a lot." He grinned and rolled up his pant leg to the knee, revealing several knives. The thin blades were in special sheaths that were strapped to his leg and--as he demonstrated by pulling one out, easily accessible. "These things let us hold a lot on our bodies without them being too obvious." He rolled his pant leg back down and handed a knife to Anne. "Knife throwing isn't as hard as it looks either. It's all in the flick of the wrist. The thing most people have trouble with is the timing." Zane took one of his knifes and with a single, swift motion he threw it. It hit a tree soundly, embedded just enough into the wood where it didn't fall.

Slender fingers tapped the cold stone floor in a fast rhythym. It had been about an hour since Rurutia had decided to try and sleep. She had given up by now and she was staring blankly at the door. The only sound that came to her was the gentle 'plink plink' of the stonework cooling. It had been cold in the watery sun of day, but yet colder now. More than that, she was feeling decidedly hungry. Her grimace twitched into a slight scowl as she counted back the meals she had missed. Right. The day before she'd managed to earn herself a good meal by pandering to the likes of a noble. Such was the life a princess had to live with if she chose to be wayward.

With aching muscles from horse riding, she got up whilst yawning. She was going to have to raid the pantry at the risk of Jolene's wrath. With a mischievious smile plastered to her face, she grabbed her weapon and made her way out of the servant's quarters. After a few twists and turns, she became rather bewildered - by the light of day it was easy to see where was where with the memorised blueprints, but by night time... all the passageways were indistinguishable. She bit a thumbnail as she turned once again, forgetting about how to get to the kitchens, but rather trying to get back to the servant's quarters.

"Darn stupid layout, hateful dilapidated palaces... how terribly irritating that they don't have wall torches or any other kind of lighting! This is more like the home of some peasant than the abode of Princes!" Rurutia let the Court Jester accent slip as her frustration surfaced.

"That's why most people grab a candle or something before heading into the darker halls." Jolene had come up behind the jester, holding a torch in one hand. She was holding back her former anger towards the overly dressed and playful person. It was better not to hold a grudge... jesters were supposed to do crazy things that others wouldn't dare do--even if they annoyed the reciever. "Lost?"
