Welcome to Barydia

Sixty seven years ago, life was not always like this. A nuclear war that waged on the surface between battling countries aided the extinction of most living organisms. Those who sought refuge deep within the bellies of caves managed to survive. Explorers discovered cave materials that acted like an energy source, allowing for plant life to survive and to help power the city. Streams flowing through out the cave also provide energy allowing for electrical appliances. After the energy was utilized, homes emerged from rocks, later becoming much more elaborate buildings and turning into a beautiful underground city. The cave materials that supply energy give off a sky blue glow, and thus were put in lanterns to be hung on stalactites through out the city. Space between buildings is limited, allowing only transportation by foot or small carts. Beautifully crafted bridges have been formed everywhere to allow easy access to either side of the streams.

During the city’s development, a government system was established and the population's cowardly leaders dubbed the surface world illegal for fear of radiation poisoning. Many books and entertainment concerning the surface world are banned to eliminate any curiosity. Elders who remember the surface world have been paid off to keep that world a secret. If any information regarding the surface world was leaked to the public, those responsible would quickly be behind bars. Inquiring minds would only lead to defiance of leaders.

Life beyond Baridya exists and holds a world reclaimed by Mother Nature. Vines twist and coil around and through decayed buildings. Streets do not seem to exist anymore, and creatures of all varieties reign supreme. Some have even acquired special abilities due to reactions from the radiation. Not much is known about this world, but rebels tired of bogus rules and lying leaders will soon marvel at its existence.

Accepted Profiles

Underground City:

Gaian Name: _Nialla_Daugherty

Character Name: Daphene Lopez
Age: 19
Sex: Female
Race: Miniature Pinscher
Sexual Orientation: Straight
Location: Underground City

Bio: Born into a large family, Daphene has always put those she cares for ahead of her own needs. Her family was very tight with money since only her mother could work. Her father was very ill and constantly needed attention. Knowing this, and the fact that the required medicine and food was out of reach, she began shoplifting, trading, and selling. She would steal from stores that had either weird objects and would sell for a nice price or would trade for only the best medicines and food or other objects that would serve a purpose.

Her excuse was that she had a job and would always be out to prove it. She continued this until she moved it, vowing to continue to support her family. She currently has a real job; working as a waitress in one of those fancy and expensive restaurants. As snotty as the customers are, her charming smile and dumb act would always return in a nice tip. She continues to pickpocket and will often come home with very rich objects. Luckily, after working there for a year and a half, nobody seems to notice.

She is very interested in exploring the caves, and finds the city less areas remarkably beautiful and for odd findings. Occasionally she will find objects that are not common in the city... possibly from the Surface World. She has always been interested in the forbidden world… She would trade her most valuables for banned books, other surface objects, news, and whereabouts of others who share her interests. She plans to escape this controlling and unjust government, hopefully with a willing group, and venture to the Surface World.

Personality: Though she is very small in height, Daphene’s personality makes up for it. Her sarcastic attitude may confuse the non intellect whether or not she’s fooling. Like her animal, she is very alert when it comes to strangers, and often not very easily trusting. To her friends and family, she is very warm and caring, and would risk her life for them. She is very energetic and requires a lot of exercise to maintain a calm self. Min Pins are known as escape artist, and she makes no exception. In both physical and mental situations, if she’s stuck in a rut, she will miraculously find a way out.

Anything else you'd like to add: She is very skilled at throwing knives and usually keeps two of them with her, one on each of her garter.

Appearance:

Gaian Name: Yezzic

Character Name: Jerimiah Aronnly
Age: 16
Sex: Male
Race: Human
Sexual Orientation: Heterosexual
Location: Underground City

Bio: He grew up underground, with both his parents, which are still, surprisingly, alive, even with their terrible self-destructive habits. He grew up with guns and has a slight obsession with them. He's slightly poor, so, it made him have to learn the hard way that life isn't fair. He's slightly saddenend and depressed, but easily forgets it when he's around others.

Personality: A pugnacious person, he can easily get enraged to violence if it's the right person. He's obnoxious and rude occasionally, but tries hard to keep his manners around him. He is very friendly and understanding, to an extent. If you test his patience he can land apunch in between your eyes.

Anything else you'd like to add: I guess, that he's around 6'1"? That could affect some things...

Appearance:

Gaian Name: xXxMotchioftheUchihaxXx

Character Name: Lynn Uotani
Age: 15
Sex: Female
Race: Succubus/Human
Sexual Orientation: Heterosexual
Location: Underground

Bio: Like most, the family fled to the underground. Grew up in a mediocre neighborhood as an unusually well-behaved child, considered her heritage.

Personality: If nothing else will stare at the wall. Has no interest in other people. At least, not yet... Only thinks about what's at the surface. Could care less about anything unrelated to science and the above.

Anything else you'd like to add: Hasn't reached the "dangerous" age yet. Gets bad grades in everything but science.

Appearance:

Gaian Name: The B3RS3RK3R

Character Name: Torajin
Age: 23
Sex: Male
Race: Beastkin: Tiger Module
Sexual Orientation: Hetero...?
Location: Underground City
Bio: For as long as Torajin could remember, he had grown up in the caves, though originally he was born on the surface. Unfortunately, after a bombing in order to get farther into the caves, Torajin was trapped and separated from his group of Beastkin, trapped beneath the surface, but Torajin was talented and adapted easily. It turns out that there were many meaty and healthy creatures to hunt in the caves, and that excluded the various giant insects that inhabit the area. Torajin grew strong and when the cities began to develop, Torajin was a great helper, although sadly, the people couldn't understand him, for his language consisted of grunts, roars, and a pur every now and then. Torajin's main job in the underground city was to protect and hunt for the people, being one of the main ways of bringing food into the city. Because Torajin was not able to speak human due to his physiology, The Technicians fashioned for him a Collar that adapted to the overly strong muscles in his throat, transmitting messages from Torajin's mind. This allowed Torajin to speak to them without using his mouth.
Personality: Torajin may seem primitive to some of the people around, but he's actually quite astute. Able to learn and pick up on things quickly, Torajin can even be found reading a book here and there when he's not hunting or on duty. He gives off the strong, silent-type personality because he cannot speak human language, but he is just as bit as smart and talented as some of the humans here, possibly even more so. Torajin doesn't like being pre-judged, but if you give him reason to like you and accept you, then he is prepared to protect you with his life.
Anything else you'd like to add: Torajin's kind, the Beastkin, are humanoid creatures that, although are not gifted with the speech of humanity, are gifted with a far superior physiology than humans. They run faster, jump higher, and are far stronger and more enduring than the human body, and they're affinity for Energy is brilliant in some Beastkin. Talented Beastkin are blessed with two forms, their Sentient form and their Primal form, and regular beastkin simply live with their humanoid form.
Appearance: Sentied form-
Primal Form-

Gaian Name: Panther King Decari

Character Name: Pierre Adelai Raynes
Age:21
Sex:Male
Race: Vampire Bat
Sexual Orientation:Straight
Location:Underground City

Bio: Pierre was born and raised in the Underground City by his parents, Victor and Jessica Raynes. From a young age, Pierre had been secretly told stories of the Surface World's vast beauty, and of it's seemingly endless sky. Inevitably, dreams of leaving the Underground City and traveling to the Surface World filled his head, and soon he began secretly training himself for the day he would have to fight against the government's troops. This went on for almost 7 years, seemingly unnoticed by the government, until one day, when Pierre returned to find that his home had been ransacked, and his parents were nowhere in sight. The evidence of a fight was all over the place, so he knew what had happened: The government had sent troops to get rid of him and his parents. Sadness, anger, and hatred filled his heart. Sadness at the loss of his parents, anger at himself for not being there to defend them, and hatred of those who had robbed him of his only family. He swore that one day, he would get his revenge on those in power, and liberate the world so that the Surface World and Underground City could become one.

Personality: Pierre is very laid back and mellow, even in times of danger. Nothing angers him except when he fights against his mortal enemy, the government. He is very optimistic.

Something else I'd like to add:Through intense training, Pierre is adept at fighting, whether it's with guns or his own hands and feet. His preferred weapons are his twin Desert Eagles, which he's named Lumis and Umbra. Like all bats, he has excellent hearing, smell, and night vision. He can also use echolocation.

Appearance: I don't have any pics of Pierre, so a short worded description will have to do. I would like for someone to draw him for me, so if anybody's willing, you have my express permission.

Tall, lean and muscular, with light brown fur and hazel eyes. He usually wears a pair of black jeans a white t-shirt, and a black leather jacket. He doesn't wear shoes.

Surface World:

Gaian Name: Vishra Shae

Character Name: Fajin Xi
Age: 24
Sex: male (Sterile from radiation)
Race: Mutated human
Sexual Orientation: Bisexual
Location: Surface World

Bio: Fajin is part of a buddhist sect. He was raised in a world of harsh and unforgiving elements and animals. That and few other reasons forces him and his kin to follow the path of their ancient ancestors the Sholin monks. Now after a long self-imposed seclusion his home was becoming to difficult to inhabit. This has forced the community to send some of its more able children into the world to find a more suitable place to live.

With in the first few weeks out of the settlement a large storm forced Fajin to divert his course and seek shelter among an almost completely destroyed town. As the storm went on he continued to try to proceed but was forced into the mouth of a cave. He believes the cave may be a suitable place to move his people too, but first he must venture deeper into the depths and see what else this place holds.

Personality: Fajin has a different personality in that he is unusually sarcastic and aggressive but he hides it under a mask of calm serenity. Fajin rather enjoys his martial arts training seeing it as fun and practical rather than a chore or necessity. Though he will not often show it he generally hates the rules imposed by his forced religion. His only true hate is of stupid people.

Anything else you'd like to add:Fajin's mutation has given him two additional lungs and a specially hallowed throat. This has given him a unique defensive advantage. He can force the air out of his lungs in a forceful blast that is powerful enough to throw small people and objects moderately good distances. His only other defenses are his extensive training and a well worn wax wood staff.

Daphene sat slumped on her unmade bed. She fought with her heavy eyes to keep them open. They were trying to focus on the moving pictures on the screen of her TV. It wasn’t very big, but everyone was given a TV whether poor or not, to be fed lies about the Surface World, crazy people to avoid who rant and rave about the Surface World, and the deadly consequences of working, partaking, or having anything to do with the Surface World.

An anchor man was sitting alone at a desk with a different screen on the left of him. He explained how a man was found hoarding books of the unspeakable, artifacts and has possibly gone up to the surface world himself. The other screen showed the man shoving away from police touch, only to be beaten by a baton.

Violence was never screened for news. The government made sure that any thoughts of the Surface World would be immediately eliminated. It made no difference for Daphene. She still had a longing desire to go to a place that would mean certain death if anyone found out. Of what she studied, the extremely harmful radiation effects should cease to exist. It should be safe to explore the Surface.

As she day dreamed, a frame appeared on her TV screen, lasting not even a full second. Daphene blinked and quickly shot out of bed, running to the screen. Her eyes were nailed open now, trying to force the TV to show the frame again. The anchor man continued to babble on, as if nothing happened. Daphene’s eyes remained large as she backed up into her bed. Did she really see… what she just saw? If she remembered correctly, the split second frame had tall, brown colored poles with bits of green at the tops of them and sprouting from the sides. She had never seen such a thing in her life time. Was she dreaming? Did that really just happen…?

“What… the hell was that?!”

Fajin had just begun to wander deeper into the sanctuary of the cave when want little light was stolen away by it's depth. The travel was not hard but the creeping paranoia that comes with being completely submerged in darkness had begun to eat at his serenity. If only he had a torch, a lantern, anything with light, he would be better off. Alas all he had was his clothing, his staff, and a set of wooden prayer beads.

As he wondered the caves intestines he grew angry, how intelligent of the elders to send us out for such an important mission with no supplies or assistance, he thought as he continued to work himself downward using his staff as a walking stick feeling the ground as he walked. "I wonder how deep this cavern goes," he asked himself and he continued his seemingly endless journey through the darkness.

He continued in virtual silence with only his breathing, light steps, and the gentle tapping of his staff to comfort him. This continued for some time, but eventually he began to hear an echo of his steps but not quite correct. He knew what was happening, he was being followed. "Hello," he called out into the darkness.

True love is like a ghost; everyone talks of it, few have seen it.
But true love is a durable fire,
In the mind ever burning,
Never sick, never old, never dead,
From itself never turning.

A lone person sporting weird blue metal armor walked down what he thought to himself as a path...heck, not many paths were around after what had happened many years ago. Wrapped around his body from the neck down was a old beat up brown rain coat of some sort, the details of the item looked like they were many years old due to the multiple rips and tears at the bottom. "Humanoids...I've barely seen some..." He softly said to himself as he kept his eyes closed walking forward, as if he were aimlessly walking for an unreachable goal, which at this point he thought to himself was the case. He had found little to no detail of his past, and with the path he was walking, he wasn't going to find it anytime soon.

He then came across what appeared to be the ruins of an old building, with what appeared to be plants and vines wrapped around it. The photosynthesis organisms are taking over building structures...as the humans would call it I guess, Mother Nature is taking back the planet... He thought to himself as he looked up at the building, then he glances over at what appears to be some small weird bird like creatures pecking at a piece of giant fruit on the ground, though as Zero approaches them they stop pecking at it and turn towards him. As he continues to move towards them all but one scramble away, while the single one that stayed was curious as to what was right infront of him. "...Little creature..." He softly says as he gently pinches onto it's back, slowly lifting it up while the bird like creature tried to break free. "You must know this land huh?" He softly asks while he smiles warmly at the creature though only he would know that he could see it since some type of mask covered his mouth. As he smiled and waited for the bird to answer him in any way...the answer to his question that the bird gave him wasn't something he thought was pleasent, as the bird swung forward and pecked at his face, though he was lucky that he had his face guard up so the bird was only able to peck the metal part.

Zero lets go of the bird after a few pecks from the bird and it takes off wondering after his friends that simply left his curious hide behind. No abnormal pulses...no nightmare scans...guess that building doesn't pose much of a threat to me... Was what he thought to himself as his eyes just glew a strange green color, which would signal that he had his vision on a weird sensor mode that could detect most if not all lifeform...though on some occasions the sensor mode would bust before he could use it, usually happened to him in a jam. "I'll continue..." Was all he could say to himself as he turned around and began to make his way off into the distance, looking ahead to see nothing.
